Title: Eurotunnel problems
Post by: andlorna on July 30, 2015, 10:29:49 AM
Hi everyone, Were of to Disney on the 16/08/2015 and we are having serious concerns with all the problems with immigrants trying to get to the UK, Also with this Operation Stack in place on the M20 leading to the Eurotunnel. We are travelling from Liverpool and it normally takes about 4 hours to get to Folkestone Eurotunnel, but with all the mentioned problems I was interested to know wether anyone else has recently used the Eurotunnel recently and what problems they incurred if any. thanks  Andlorna

Can't answer your question directly, but I think anyone travelling via Dover / Calais should be concerned about their crossing, whether by Eurotunnel, DFDS or P&O - they all have (unrelated) problems at the moment. One companies problems have a knock on effect on other companies - particularly when Operation Stack clogs up the roads leading to Dover.

Things are changing daily however and advice issued now may be out of date tomorrow / in a week / in a month.

We travel in just over a week and we're concerned and are thinking of setting off ultra early, but we are watching the news daily and will make a decision closer to the time of travel.

It was on our local news that the number of people booking crossings between Portsmouth and France is significantly up.

My best friend was visiting me from the UK just when the problems started, and for a bit we were quite worried about her getting back via the Dunkirque ferry (as there were strikes the days before her return date), but in the end it all went smoothly.
Maybe look into a Dunkirque crossing instead, or whether you can still rebook into a Dover - Dunkirque one?
