Title: extra magic hours
Post by: evie2002 on June 21, 2015, 12:54:35 PM
Hi all,

Heading over to dlp next month - does anyone know what rides are open during extra magic hours at the moment while space mountain is closed?

The same as always, there is no replacement for Space Mountain.

No that's not correct. It's just EMH at the Disneyland Park like always.

oh my gosh yes, EMH is sooo worth getting up early for

You basically have an empty park, its really magical to walk up Main Street to the Castle and be able to take photos with no random people in the background. You will get amazing photos of the Castle

You get an exclusive character meet and greet

Rides like Peter Pan and Buzz , which can get up to 2 hour wait times are either walk ons or have less than 10 minute wait times

You can queue up at the Adventureland entrances for Rope Drop, which means will the general public is running down Main Street you are first on Pirates or Big Thunder Mountain or Phantom Manor, or Star Tours etc etc

If you stay on site you may have the option to have breakfast in the park. They do this at certain times to ease congestion at the hotels.

It depends on the make up of your party. Its great for children to be able to ride Peter Pan, Dumbo and The Carousel without any queues. If you get in at 8, you'll have done them all several times by 8.30!
If you're a party of adults, you may not want to do it every day.

We did this for the first time this year and loved it! So easy to get on the rides and then did the rope drop to go on Pirates of the Caribbean one day. We then went back to the hotel mid afternoon after our teatime treat and relaxed in the pool for a while. I want to go back!!!

yep its defo worth it to be able to get on the rides that little ones (and big kids haha) enjoy that throughout the day the queues just become too big

one morning we rode dumbo 3 times without getting off to re-queue

I ALWAYS make use of EMH if I can. ALWAYS.
Because like others said: I can do rides that otherwise build up queues with hardly any or very little waiting time and take photos in peace and quiet :)
Especially during off-peak season it is utter bliss!
