Hey guys just read it's a small world is going to be closed 1st august to 19th December! Can anyone confirm this? This is my sons (3 years) first visit and I am gutted! We are going September 10th-13th and looks like blue lagoon is closed too :(
nooooooooo! we are there ssept too, and after seeing tomorrowland at the cinema (which I would highly recommend btw) we really really wanted to go on this even more!
This is the official refurbishment schedule:

I'm just so gutted for my son as he keeps singing the song, will just have to show him it on YouTube! It's one of the big park staples! I wonder what they are doing to it? It looks in pretty good shape to me? Anyone know? Thanks for posting Lavi this is where I saw it! Does anyone know if there is even a slight chance this changes? Maybe if we do a mass protest?! LOL!
WOW small world closing for 6 months???? I hope not cause in november I will be there.
Hope we get the Disney characters. Just like HK.

Please no why always change a ride for the worst.
Pirates is great but we all want Jack Spearow in it, while the ride was there before there was the movie.
It's a small world is a classic but we must have the disney characters in it.
Please nooooooooooooooooo just leave it as it is.
Those characters don't even look good they are even worse than those ugly big headed dolls they sell.
Ah no way! We went in March and it seemed absolutely fine. I agree it is a classic and really hope they do not change it too much :o
I don't know, but it could be to just refurb it a little before the 25th anniversary coming up? From what I gather a lot of the main rides will be getting a new lick of paint and a tidy up to make sure they look as perfect as possible? ??? :-\

That's the most likely explanation for the aggressive schedule they're running now. :)
Get the park tidied up and in the best possible condition for the anniversary year.

I would say that would be most likely. I went at the beginning of May and it could use some touch ups. It wasn't really bad or anything but if they are making an effort to make everything fantastic for the 25th anniversary, that would seem most likely.
Yeh if looks like small world is going 2 be closed !!!!!
We have had to make up an excuse for my younger daughter saying that it has broken. She is devastated!!!!
Can anyone plz comment on my post "rides for young children" and give examples of other rides to make up 4 small world being closed
Thanks again !!!!!

That made me laugh PP!
I agree once is more than enough for adults, but kids love it, we went on it 5/6 times last October ;)

Casey Junior, Le Pay De Conts De Fees (spelling I'm not sure) for sure.
Love IASW. Pure Disney. Yes, it is closed from 29/7 until early 2016. The ride mechanics are in great need of an over haul.
Tha animatronics als need servicing.
I am not surprised at all that Small World will be completely overhauled - in all the times I've been to DLRP (2011 onwards) I've never seen it where every doll is working as they should be. Plenty of dolls with stuck/twitching mouths or arms for example. It was repainted and cleaned for the 20th anniversary, but still no broken dolls were fixed.
Now that Disney corp have taken over, they will simply not allow this for the 25th anniversary, as you can tell by many of the comments in recent interviews. I imagine that all the motors and recievers in the audio animatronics will be simply replaced - easily affordable for them (assuming that they are identical to the Florida and California mechanisms), whereas before the costs and paperwork etc involved would have been difficult for DLRP to manage themselves. This seems to be slowly happening (one at a time) for figures in Star Tours and Phantom Manor, which get removed, then reappear a week later moving far smoother, but obviously IASW is a far bigger job, and the water makes it more akward. I imagine a similar overhaul of Pirates may happen, though I didn't notice many problems with it in our last trip (unless the skelleton pirates are meant to move - not a single one has ever moved when I've ridden it).

My 3 year old daughter loved Slinky Dog. Storybook Cansl Boats and Casey Jnr are good. The dumbos of course. Is the carousel running when you visit? It was closed off for us at half term but she would have loved that. Alice's Curious Labyrinth and Tea Cups are also good. It's a shame about Small world but rides have to be refurbished sometime.
Aw no. :(
Scaffolding is getting down at "it's a small world", revealing it's new colors.

I would literally love to be that construction worker - how awesome.
The colour changes are very subtle but the whole thing looks so much fresher and brighter. Loving it, hope the inside looks just as good.
Ooo it looks nice!!
Although its a subtle change, it seems like they've moved it away from looking like it was built in the early '90s with its overly saturated pastels.
Do we know the reopening date yet?
It's at the back end of next week.
We're there Monday to Friday (leaving mid day Friday), so fingers crossed!
Anyone actually ridden the new refurbished ride? I don't want to spoil it by going on youtube but I wondered what peoples opinions were.
FYI - this was all triggered by a weird dream I had where Small World was not like the old small world and it had a huge log flume at the end and I am still somewhat traumatised by the horror of it all ;D
Aw no! Don't worry, no log flume. Ride is exactly the same but all the dolls are working, the costumes and fabrics arebeautiful and new as is all the paintwork on faces. No chips, dust or wonky eyes!
I'm so excited, small world is like the ride I remember from my childhood trips over every other so I'm glad it's still similar. It'll be nice to have everything working again :)

That only happens if you wear a Tomorrowland pin ;)
m soon got hystericaLly excited when he noticed the' secret exit' then really upset cos he wasnt wearing his pin. ah to have the innocence and excitemenT of youth lol
I rode It's a small world this week. The ride is looking amazing. All colours refreshed and all puppets are working plus they have created a brand new end scene which I don't want to spoil for you when you ride but it is so much better. I would say the ride is back to looking it's best.
Are the boat the same? I saw a picture on instagram and they looked newer?!
Only 1 month and 20 days until I get to ride it ;D

They probably have been cleaned.
