Title: Currency Exchange
Post by: abismummy on February 10, 2015, 06:51:25 PM
Hi I was wondering where the best place is to her your currency? Last time I had loads left over and got a lot less that I had paid. I know there was somewhere that honours the exchange rate you got at the time but I cant remember where that was. Thanks.

I'm not sure of where buys euros at the same rate they sell - I've never had that myself. I personally have used the ICE bureau at Waterloo the last few times I've been away, but I used to work nearby. Historically I liked to use the Post Office as they were commission free. You can look on http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/ for a rate comparison.

I do this, i get them from thomson holiday shop. Its a 'buy back' scheme and i pay £5for it. I buy my euros, ask for buy back and pay the extra £5, then if i bring any home, they will change the euros back to pounds at the same rate you paid, upto £200 worth :) hope this helps :) ive done it quite a few times!

We use ramsdens who usually take the currency back, but to be honest we keep our euros with Europe using it and because we hopefully return to DLP the following year.

I have found that most foreign exchanges in London will give better rates. I tend to use Yell.com search for places near and give them a call.

We put everything on our Nationwide credit card, so use very little cash. The Nationwide card charges no commission on foreign transactions, so we get the actual exchange rate.

Other credit / debit cards may also offer this.
