Alpha Bet You Are
New original characters spell out a very special word...

For the 15th Anniversary Celebration (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=541).
Previous discussion about these 15th Anniversary decorations may be found in the general topic (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=541).

They deserve their own topic!  Alpha Bet You Are is a special performance featuring 10 letters which spell out the word D-I-S-N-E-Y-L-A-N-D, with costumes themed to various Disney characters.  To a mix of Disney songs like "zip a dee doo dah" and "wanna be like you" with some original music and a song along the lines of the Mickey Mouse March spelling out the letters.

They arrive from the top of Discovery Arcade and make their way into the centre of Main Street, where they eventually form the word Disneyland, before continuing along and leaving at the bottom of Discovery Arcade.

Currently performed at 10.15, 11.15, 12.15 and 1.15.

More photos and a video soon.

Hehe I love these things, don't know why, but they do seem to definately give some fun atmosphere to the area.  Plus the music mix strangely works, love the random rapping in it :) .  They also definately seem a crowd pleaser, nice to see dlrp have not given up on original ideas, this definately seems like a great idea from the same people that brought us the pumpkinmen :D .

I take it these are daily times? I figured they were just a special for the press! With this and the Character Express and the evening shows and new parade, DLRP is really shaping up this year. I just cant get over how fantastic it all is! Genuinely puts us up there with DLR for quality entertainment and streetmosphere. Its what seperates a Disney park from all other theme parks. Just fantastic

Oh absolutely!  What really hit me over the weekend is the amount of entertainment, streetmosphere and atmosphere every day.  All the extra characters, Character Express, these letters, Candleabration and the show-stopping OUADP - once again it finally feels like DLRP are going all-out to truly entertain their guests day after day.

And yes - they're daily times, from the entertainment programme!  Guest Flow are going to have a really busy time this year, they seem to have to rope off Main Street almost twice an hour now.

Like Patmagic said, they're surprisingly popular too! They always got applause each time I saw them, and people seemed to like stroking their glittery fur.  :?

Ugly and full of nonsense. A little interactive show with the characters like High School Musical or Catch the Wave would have been much more magical than that!

 They are a bit weird, but I wouldn't say they're ugly. :D It looks like a good little show to me!

I think they look strange to us, because we are not used to letters as characters. It's not an everyday design.
But I like them, the look some kinda funny.

To be completely honest it's something you might want to watch once !

How come Minnie has both the 'S' and the 'L' representing her, whereas all the other characters only have one letter?
Title:

well i think the idea of themeing letters into charaters is great, its imaginative and adds that little bit extra, and personally cant wait to see them. :D

Hehe you might be right.  I enjoyed watching it, they're good performers, but I'm not sure if it'd be on my "to do list" next time I go.  I might just watch on the off chance one of them fell over... that could be quite entertaining. :P The music is very good though too - usually I hate children singing but it's actually rather nice.

That's true... maybe 'S' is Daisy? :?

I think my least favourite letter (lol I'm so going to get mocked for this) is the final 'D', it's not very clear what it is...

Sorry for the double post, but here's an article, photo report and video of Alpha Bet You Are.  I've noticed they've not got much attention from other websites, so this might be a bit more new...

I think the individual 'animations' are really clever, and that article was an interesting read, to know that they aren't EPC as it were but more puppeteers - and yes the 'S' is Daisy lol.

Title: why???
Post by: euro disney stefan on May 09, 2007, 10:20:07 AM
I do not understand the meaning of that! Why Disneyland letters instead of characters!!! There are so many Disney Characters which we almost forgot - whay not using the artists to perform as 15 Special Characters as the advert says --- MORE CHARACTERS --- no weird letters

Yes, that´s what I´m asking myself too.

The 15th brithday CD was a bit dissapointing with the many repetition of songs which are also at other CDs.

Bad question: Has somebody the lyrics?

I loved it to i'm with you Reibi on the 15th CD thing because it was a bit boring with only JLWDI as the on 15th song on there I really do hope another CD is going to come out with 15th songs on there.

It would sell well aswell i bet!

I heard a rumour that the show might close down soon for good?  Anyone else heard something about this?  :?:  :?
Title:
Post by: Anthony on August 14, 2007, 01:53:27 AM
At the end of September?

I can't see it continuing through Halloween and Christmas, I guess it'll be replaced by a more seasonal streetmosphere.
Title:
Post by: Soap on August 14, 2007, 11:53:33 AM
Well it is a bit of a summer season parade, isn't it?
But i do hope that they will let this little lovely parade comeback next season!!
Title:
Post by: Kristof on August 14, 2007, 12:04:50 PM
A summer parade since March?     No no, I've heard that it won't return ever again.  Anyone from EPC heard more?
Title:

Ah well i meant a little extra parade for the better days  :P
Pity it will never return again...... :(

Whats teh reason behind this? Is it weather related, or is it poor guest reaction? I liked the parade for what it was, a little extra streetmosphere in the resort
Title:

@ Kinou: What's your reason for not liking this small extra parade?
Title:
Post by: Jorien on August 15, 2007, 05:45:23 PM
I really like this little parade. I've got nice memories of it. Arriving at the park in the morning after a nice breakfast in the hotel, the sun shining, and the music playing and then that little parade started through main street.
I wasn't fond of it at first, watching the videos online before i went. But it has a lot of atmosphere when you're there!

What's the reason that they might close it down?  :(

I agree with you there for 100%.  I still don't believe they are using LETTERS - if they would have done the same with proper Disney characters (I'd love to see Snow White and her seven dwarfs do this), the response would be far better...

Post by: Masamune on August 16, 2007, 01:06:39 PM
:o I guess it's just personal opinion.

Personally, I love this little show. I thought it was fun and definatly worth seeing, and I liked that the letters were all made from Disney characters. :P And as you all know, I think High School Musical sucks and I found that the HSM show was a huge waste of time when you consider that it replaced the Cruella show.

:) Alphabet You Are is just a fun way to kill 15-20 minutes, and I think it would be a huge shame if they got rid of this show. In fact, I think they should keep doing it even after the 15th Anniversary is finished. They would have to get rid of the 15th Anniversary logos on the D's, but that's all they would need to do to carry on this show.

Post by: esmeralda on August 16, 2007, 01:16:22 PM
I'd also like to see Alpha Bet You Are next summer season again! I really enjoyed it and since i saw a t-shirt with these letters printed on it years ago i wished they'd do sth with it. So i was really happy to see them "alive". Although it doesen't belong into this topic; i LOVED high school musical! For me it's so much better than Cruella. It's much more entertainming and just fun to watch. It makes you wanna sing and dance along...

What they should do is get rid of the show and have it as a pre-parade for the OUADP like they used to do a couple of years ago

Well that would make sense to me, as indede I feel that this show is just a bit of timekilling in itself.  I fail to see any story in it, nor do I see much guest interaction...  Just some letters walking around - I really don't get the clue or the amusement in there...

But as you said, it is all personal, so I'm happy to see that there are peope out there that do like it, which means it's good :)

To me it's just a bit too boring...

No, Once upon a Dream Parade isn't going anywhere.  It will return next year and the years after that.  Imaginations Parade was cancelled out of safety precautions.
