Title: Extra hours for hotel guests?
Post by: Cathryn on January 26, 2015, 08:02:30 PM
My mum is staying in one of the partner hotels I think it's Disney castle or something will she get extra park hours? Or is it only Disney hotels that get these?

No, she won't be able to attend the EMH's.

Allowed to go to the EMH's are guests of the 7 Disney Hotels and annual pass holder (dream and fantasy)

She's allowed onto Main Street I think but can't go past any of the red ropes at the entrances to the lands. I wasn't sure if you were all travelling together or meeting up but staying at different hotels so wanted to add that...

I don't think she would be allowed onto Main Street until later in the morning about 09.00. I would think as this is about the time the characters leave and they are for Disney hotel guests only.

Captain Rocket is right. Since they moved the characters out of the hotels and into the park for EMH they are very strickt on letting people in, even on to Main Street. if they are not hotel guests or have the required AP. In November they were letting offsite guests in from around 9.30am.

You will be given a pass that you have to show to CMs before you enter the park.

Hello! Sorry to hijack with my own question, but if you are staying in a Disney hotel does that mean that there are characters to meet on Main Street during early magic hours?

Yes, that is indeed how it should work. :D

That's amazing, and thank you! Do you know who is normally there? My daughter would love to meet anyone she can!

You get to meet Mickey & Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale in various locations around the park.

It's only in Mainstreet USA, and currently it's not all of these characters.
Every day it's just 3/4 out of these. Mickey and Minnie aren't even necessarily together at this point.

That was Christmas season, that's over now ;)
As I said earlier, currently it's only a selection of them.
Usually three, sometimes 4 if you're lucky. And they aren't in pairs anymore.

Are the queues still horrificly long for them DLRPwonders?  It used to be lovely in hotels, I can't remember there ever being more than about 12 people( much shorter than around the parks), and it was always great seeing Robin Hood at Davy Crockett - (saw him there three years in a row, seemed to be a special one  for DC!) But when we went in November, the queues for characters during EMH were terrible, at least 30+ families in each one, with a waiting time to match the queue.  Wasn't so appealing unfortunately

No not at all! It's like 10-20 minutes queuing now.
But it is a really quite time, so everything at the entire resort has very low queues.

To be honest i hated the pairs idea anyway! Massive queues when i was there! Queues would have been smaller if they were separated out.
& apologies as i didn't know that after Christmas it would change.

I prefer single characters too!  I always feel embarrassed as my kids run for the one they want to see completely ignoring the other one who then has to stand at the side and try to be involved(so they don't look like they're just standing at the side), in spring it was Minnie and duffy, my boys had seen Minnie a couple of times at meals etc, but were desperate to see duffy, so they just ran straight past her, (I have 4 boys), mobbed duffy, and then all hugged him for the photo, with poor Minnie stood beside them doing her little curtsey.  I felt terrible!

So, pretty much as we have come to expect from Paris. A lot of characters taken from the hotels and replaced by a few characters in the park! Pretty poor value for us customers I think.

This was known from the moment that the news came out that hotel characters would disappear.
Don't really understand why 5 months later people still act so surprised.
