McDonalds is no longer an official DLRP partner, as you all probably know.
The first signs of removing McDonald's from the parks started with changing the Disneyland Railroad spiel and by removing the logo's from attractions, as can be seen in Frontierland:

How ever I'd like to point out that there are currently no plans of removing the actual McDonald's restaurant at Disney Village.
Is a new sponsor in sight?
Quote from: "raptor1982"McDonalds is no longer an official DLRP partner, as you all probably know.
Ow? How so? :?
I never understood why McDonalds had to sponsor an attraction like the Disneyland Railroad. I'm not against sponsors as long as the sponsors have an actual connection with the attraction. Renault did fit quite well at Le Visionarium with the Reinstella, France Telecom has a connection with It's A Small World, and even IBM was a right fit at Star Tours.
When you think of it, McDonalds, Disney and Coca-Cola were always a triangle of Americanism. Why is McDonalds leaving the Resort? I really think it isn't a smart move to make (from a McDonalds point of view). But well, maybe its a smart move from Disney, considering the new healthy food programme. As long as the McDonalds restaurant will stay at Disney Village like you said Raptor, I'm fine with it.
I expect they thought they were busy enough without the sponsorship, evertime we go to the village McDonals is packed - personally i prefer cafe mickey but if youre on a budget then its great
Greetins from in-side the magic...
there was a mcdonalds back stage for the castmembers many years ago but was closed due to castmembers taking food into the parc and guests asking where did you get that from thats why castmembers no longer can pickic in the parc...
its funny how things change over time..
on main street there is casy i remember them selling sluggers its a base ball bate but filled with coke no more fun now just a plastick cup..miss the little touches that was then..
also cafe mickey is not disney its just the name ..
QuoteOw? How so?
New company food policy! McDonald's is no longer welcome at the US parks either. Bob Iger has requested that this policy would apply to all other Disney brands all over the world.
 For a minute there I was worried. We almost always leave the Park when we're hungry so we can grab something to eat at the McDonald's in The Disney Village. McDonald's food is always decent, and the price isn't too bad either.
I'm glad that Mc Donalds now disappears
They never had a veggie burger (as they once had in Germany) and the Disney restaurants are much more beautiful :)
anetes diner is the one for me, if i've spelt that right
I personally wouldn't mind losing McD's in the village, the food has always been pap in there whenever we've been in
I can't see Mc Donalds leaving the village, every time i go to it its always full, alot of money would be lost if it left.
Quote from: "Masamune" McDonald's food is always decent, and the price isn't too bad either.
Are you serious?
McDonalds isnt bad for the price and you know what youre getting, not a gastronaomic delight but sustinance
I really wouldnt be bothered by McD's leaving the village, as I've only ever visited it once and that was simply because we were early to check into the hotel so we needed to grab a bite to eat quickly. I'd quite like to see it go to be honest!
xxx
To be honest, I only care for the McFlurry's on a hot summer day
I'm not a fan of McDonalds, but to be honest the "fastfood" that they sell now is not an improvement throughout the park
Quote from: "speedpacket"Quote from: "Masamune" McDonald's food is always decent, and the price isn't too bad either.
Are you serious?
o-o; Of course I am.
The McDonald's over there isn't much different from the ones here. McDonald's food isn't too bad if you ask me. It's no good going there if you want a meal that's going to fill you up from the morning till the evening, but it certainly keeps you going for a bit. And compared to the prices for food in the Parks, it's worth it.
Well this is an interesting move, me and baloo had a conversation yesterday about how healthy the food seems to be in the studios. Joked also today about our friends at mcdonalds sponsoring the disneyland railroad. To be honest I never noticed any change in the signage and we boarded the railroad at frontierland  . Maybe I was being blind, as for mcdonalds leaving good riddens, I am sick of mcdonalds food and never did visit the mcdonalds in the village apart from once when I hated it. Now I hope sometime soon the mcdonalds gets removed in the village.
Are you working at DLRP, Pat? Well, if you have some influence or know someone who has...
...you could suggest them to replace McDoof ("McStupid") into a new Vegetarian or Health Food restaurant  [-o<
i think it would be nice if they made md into a pizza hut type resturant with take away then after a long day in the park you could take it to your hotel and relax :ears:
Judging by how busy it always is , i doubt it will leave. As for a health food veg restaurant - i dont think that will happen, McDonalds themselves have tried veg options before and they havent lasted, although they do do salads for a " healthier option ". McDonalds serves a purpose for quick cheap and tasty food ( although not that healthy - but then again neither is a cinderella slipper ). I tend not to go there when we visit, purely because we can and do go to McDonalds here. I personally prefer to go to Annettes and Cafe Mickey. And as for the healthy arguement - a mcdonalds once in a while isnt bad for you, sitting in front of a tv/pc and not doing any exercise and continually eating rubbish is what makes you unhealthly. And it would be boring if we all liked the same thing - im not a fan of the Chesire cat but I can appreciate hes likeability and would never wish for him to disappear. :P
Erm, PLEASE!!!! don't get me wrong, but were is the difference between an american burger fast food restaurant and an american pizza fast food restaurant?
Pizza for take away or burger for take away?
Maybe I'm just missing the point.
Only a different kind of food.
I'm a vegeterian too, but I like both pizza and burgers (frensh fries and salad or whatever MD has for special offer).
If MD remains were it is, it's fine with me.
Kids love it and when you are on a budget, MD is a good option.
Seems were thinking along the same lines there Reiana
:o Like smurfy said, considering how packed the McDonald's in the Disney Village is, I doubt it'll be shut down. :P And I've read some terrible reviews of restaurants in the park. At least I know where I stand with McDonald's, having tried it for myself. I'd rather pay like 7-9 Euros for a McDonald's meal than over 20 Euros for a meal in the park that may not be as good as I'd hoped. :)
Exactly Mesamune - have you ever eaten at Toad Hall - to me that was a terrible experience and as for cafe hyperion what is that all about id prefer to get a burger from the McD's and pay less for it and it not be cold and bland
:o The only places in the Park we've eaten at more than once is the place where you have Good Morning Fantasyland, and the barbeque place at the bottom of Frontierland. The place in Frontierland is pretty good value for a decent meal of ribs and wedges and a drink.
Sadly we've never eaten at any of the major restaurants in the Park, because we've never really fancied anything on the menus. And of course the price comes into it. I've always wanted to eat at Walt's, but there just never seems to be anything on the menu that I want. You're not gonna want to pay over 20 Euros for something you don't fancy either.
:) So yeah, McDonald's is very much a case of "better the Devil you know".
 As long as you're not eating it for like every meal of the day, I don't think there's any harm in eating there.
Quote from: "smurfy74"Exactly Mesamune - have you ever eaten at Toad Hall - to me that was a terrible experience and as for cafe hyperion what is that all about id prefer to get a burger from the McD's and pay less for it and it not be cold and bland
Nice point, though I still choose hyperion or toad hall (which I like), simply because I get so sick of mcdonalds and also they are rather disgusting and taste completely of grease. Don't think I have actually had a nice mcdonalds, Disney Village or even in England. Also did you know that a €9 mcdonalds is rather expensive considering a take out from annettes is only 10€ :P .

Annettes wins every time!!!

Maybe it's that Annettes do (or did at least) a takeaway service, so turning McDonalds into a pizza place would give you the variety of having the option of burgers or pizza... And plus, some people don't like burgers but like pizza and vice versa...
But anyway, my view is I don't like Mcdonalds, and do not plan on eating there, however my boyfriend who is the fussiest eater ever (I won't go into the depths of it) will most likely want to get his plain burger and fries from there, grr... So I wouldn't be fussed if it went, but the popularity of it will probably keep it going... I just hope I don't have to spend too long in there on my next visit...
Well - I don't want to be generalising, or step onto people's feet, but in my honest opinion, McDonalds does represent for a great deal all that has been going wrong in the states which resulted in the known overweighted people problem, unfortunately, the states win on the hit charts every time.
Yes, it is cheap food, and NO it's not healthy at all.
The US is probably the number one country that offer all you can eat menus for a fixed (and cheap!!!) price. result is that people eat, and forget to stop.
I'm very much against it myself, eventhough I do like my burger as well once in a while.
Also - it is much said that fastfood is alwas cheaper, but in my opinion, it's not cheaper because it's fastfood - it's cheaper because they can easily produce it "chain-wise". the same however can be done with healthy food! If you organise that equally well, you can easily offer a healthy alternative to all the McDo's in the world for a equally cheap price! If you live in France or Belgium, Exki is a great example.
End before people start throwing rotten tomatoes towards my head: I hae worked in a Quick restaurant (the competitor for McDo in Belgium, France and Hungary) for about a year back when I was a student. I'm not against it as a nice and welcome treat once in a while, but I would love to see some more healthy alternatives.
Also - rgarding price. Honestly, but I can't believe that there are people on the board claiming that 22 EUR is expensive for a three course meal?!? That is VERY affordable for what you get really! I really believe Disney is a great example of how you can offer more healthy alternatives.
So yes, I'm against McDo as a regular place to eat, but at the same time I'm not against it in the Village (always hated the ads in the park though!!!).
So go there as a welcome once in six month variation, but keep it like that, and kill the advertisement for such crappy food :o)
For all I heared Disney dumped MD because they did not want to be called in one name with MD. That is also the reason why there aren't any disney toys anymore in the happy meals... to bad :(
I do like MD food but my experience with the one in Disney Village is not really good, especially when it is crowded your food will be cold most of the times. This year I have booked my breakfast and diner along with the rest of my trip so I do not have to worry about that anymore :)
Quote from: "Angela"For all I heared Disney dumped MD because they did not want to be called in one name with MD. That is also the reason why there aren't any disney toys anymore in the happy meals... to bad :(
Actually - this is not bad - t is great!!!
Disney was a great customer puller for McDo, and I think it is great that Disney sees that their brand is being used for commercialising UNHEALTHY food! We're banning children from drinking alcohol and from smoking cigarettes. In fact, cigarette commercials are even banned from many countries, but yet we do allow children to be drawn into an unhealthy FAT environment because they use Disney gadgets.
I pesonally believe a company such as Disney has a huge responibility, and I'm very happy to see that they are aware and acting according to it. If they were to lend their name to some type of food, let's lend it to the orange farmers that can add two mouse ears, and yep - you have an orange mickey :)
There are so many healthy alternatives that deserve to be stimulated some more. Obesitas is a huge problem, and I think it really should be considered as dangerous to the heart as smoking is to the lungs...
Again - I'm not asking for a ban on fastfood as a whole - I love my burger once in a while as well, but it really should not be pushed so easily.
By the way - the healthy alternatives they have at McDo now (the salads) contain even more calories than some of the burgers they have - don't be misled by it :o)
Go to a McDo once in a while, and if you do, don't feel guilty by eating a burger in stead of a salad LOL
well I do agree with you... but.. I am missing the nice things the happy meal brought me... grinz....
Having been in town this afternoon, n NOT had a McDonalds but a lovely roll from Subway.... what about something like that in the village? Then you do have the option of something a little healthier n not fried! (Mmmm brown Baguette, turkey and salad.) Its made in front of you, so no nasty onion surprises  And it can be reasonably priced. I spent a £1:00 less than at mc D's and seeing as we dont get any good Disney toys in the Happy meals anymore I dont miss it!
if i'm honest I don't miss mcDonalds at all I bearelly noticed when I was there, and maybe it's time for something different ypu see th mc evrywhere around the globe these days even beyond you imagenation
 If one eats McDonald's everyday for every meal, one's bound to get fat. If someone's just getting a burger or some chicken nuggets from there at lunch time to tide them over until they get a proper meal elsewhere, I fail to see the health implications.
:o It's not McDonald's fault if people enjoy their food too much.
Quote from: "Masamune":o It's not McDonald's fault if people enjoy their food too much.
No but it's governments alowing big bucks to be spent on advertising for unhealthy food that does, especially if you are aiming at a younger public.
Why do you think in many countries Coca Cola's brand of coke is number one drink? Simply because they spend tons of ads, not because it tastes better than the alternatives, because it simply tastes "differently" -> you get used to the coca cola taste because they are good at advertising and making sure their brand is the first one you'll taste. taste is memoresed in your brain, and voila - you won't like the others anymore :)
The thing is that unhealthy food often is overadvertised, and cheaper than healthy food -> that's something politicians really need to work on!!! Also - haveyou ever considered that so many schools have vending machines for candy? yet you are unable to buy some fruit?
McDo is indeed a company that can not be blamed for everything, but the same can be said about cigarette producers...
But wouldnt it be nice to have the chance to buy a nice deli made sandwich? YUM!
Actually I dont like McD's..... I LOVE Burger King (just as bad!) N like you said Masamune, eating them occasionally does nobody any harm.
What about eating Galaxy?
When i went with my friends to Disneyland Paris, i said to them lets go to Mc Donalds for breakfast and they were all saying that there was no Mc Donalds and then in the end i proved them wrong when we walked through the village and turned right to see a Mc Donalds.
I have to admit, if i was a first time Disneyland Paris explorer, i wouldnt believe that there was a Mc Doanlds there. Its to hidden. Which in some peoples opinions is a good thing.
:P So it's the government's fault then, not McDonald's. Healthy living is a much bigger issue these days than it used to be, so I think the general problem of obesity is slowly but surely being addressed. I don't think taking McDonald's out of a place like Disney Village isn't really going to affect the big picture.
@ tubbsy - I love the occasional Galaxy Caramel.
@ Owain - :) That's a good point. It's not like DLRP themselves actively advertised McDonald's. As far as I know, that sign at the train station was the only thing they had to do with McD's in the park. First-timers to DLRP may not even know that McDonald's is there.
I must admit I was a bit surprised to find old McD's tucked around the corner on our first visit when we checked out the village.
Mc D's isnt the greatest food, but a lot of people are on a budget when visiting DLRP (ME!!)and its a cheap and familiar option
I have walked past Anettes on the way back to the hotel and the take away queue has been horrendous, so have opted to go McD's. The queue was just as bad but we were nearer our hotel n my feet hurt!! :P
I would still like to have the choice of something healthy n cheap like a deli sndwich place tho. It'd make a change. Especialyl if you spend more than three days in DLRP.
I do think McD sells unhealthy food but what to think about the fries and hotdogs you can buy in the park? Isn't all that food bad and unhealthy for you? And also going out to eat every night is not very healthy. And I also wonder if they cook the meals in the restaurants low fat and with lots of vegetables and stuff. So one way or another I think it is both not healthy food.
  Well, I didn't want to start a discussion about healthy and unhealthy food in the park when suggesting to create a Veggie or Health Food restaurant in the Village instead of McD
I'm a Vegetarian, yes. But I also like "Junk Food" or unhealthy fastfood, as you call it - we always eat pizza, pasta & co. when we go to DLRP coz that's the only food we can afford and it's yummy and okay! Don't think that every Vegetarian only eats fruit and vegetables, no, thank God we've got much more to eat these days!!
The thing I hate on McD is the fact that it destroys the world and of course people don't think about it when they eat there. But anyways, it would just be cool to have only one restaurant in the Resort where Veggies have more than only one choice to eat  I hope the people who eat meat can understand me a bit!
Sorry Nala! I would prefer a variety of food. And I do eat vegetarian. I think that the whole menu thing needs to be looked at because, as you said, the hot dogs are same old stuff. Thats why I thought a deli place (obviously it'll do meats , but with cheeses and salad fillings) would make a good change.
well when it comes to veggie food.. I think the restaurants everywhere have a small menu (if you know what I mean.. I am looking for the right words but as natural they don't pop up at the moment). But not only in Disneyland Paris the choise is veggie food is poor.. I think everywhere.. and I am fully aware what you can eat when you are a veggie.. I am not one myself but I have considered it once but since I hate eggs to... I hate meat sometimes....
a bit off topic - i had a Big mac today and loved it :D :D funnily enough it tasted the same as the one we had in Paris.
I only ever eat McDonald's on holiday's and I still haven't had it in Paris! I like the idea of Veggie place but I couldn't eat thre cos my brother can't go a day without meat! :?

so do i... i went couple of summers ago and they gave us wrong food (not sure if it was bad french or what) and the toilet was basically a room of flys :S
food in the park is probably alot healthier and cleaner, the price isnt really that much more if you think about it...
that is quite good really!! the less fast food there is, the less tempted I am to eat it! hehe
I wouldn't mind the McDonald's Restaurant to leave. I hat McDonalds and I always preferred to eat at one of the Disney Restaurants. I very often heared that the MD was in very bad condition, not clean and unfriendly people working there and so on. So maybe we will be lucky to get a new and nice Disney Restaurant there.
Perhaps McDonalds will be leaving soon then, if the American parks are anything to go by:
Quote from: "MiceAge"Say Goodbye to McDonald's in the Parks.
All three locations that serve McDonald's products will be closing right after Labor Day for removal of the McDonald's products and to be changed over to new items. That is both Fry Stands in Disneyland and Burger Invasion at DCA. No word on what will be on the new menus. (Sorry folks, it will not be In-n-Out Burger).
So the question is, how much of a future does McDonalds have in Disney Village? :-k
Source: MiceAge (//http://micechat.com/forums/blog.php?b=537)
To be honest when i when i go too DLRP i never eat at mc donalds accept for breakfast as i like bacon and egg mc muffins :P (Even though we had free breakfast in the park).
I hope mcdonalds stays not just for the benefit that i might eat there for a real lunch or tea but some people just cannot afford food from the restaurants or are on a budget and mcdonalds is the only option.
I eat lot of mcdonalds home though
I think McDonalds will stay in Disney Village. It's kind of "ok" to have it there, because there are other outside groups too, whereas having them in the parks like they do in the US isn't a good idea for Disney's image.
I like having McD's in the village. Sure the food's not of the highest standard, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. On my son's first visit to DLRP. We arrived at 6pm, and it was nice for him to see and eat something familiar. At home, he only gets a happy meal as a fortnightly treat. So having one on the first night, was a great way for him to start his holiday.
Now, everytime we visit, we have a McD's after we unpack, and then avoid it like the plague.
( Did I mention I used to work in McD's for 6 years as a teenager ? No ? Good. Wouldn't want that sort of info. getting out and spreading around a forum or something )
I wouldn't be sorry to see the back of McDonalds in the village to be honest - I tend to avoid it like the plague anyway, whenever I eat the food I'm always ill afterwards!
(Pete's Dragon - I worked in McDonalds in the summer between 6th Form and uni, I only lasted 3 months before I cracked so I applaud you for making 6 years!! =D> )
I rather suspect that the partnership break-up between Mc D's and Disney has less to do with 'health' and is more about contractual obligations. One of the two partners maybe thought they were not getting enough financial benefit from the liaison and decided to opt out.

Thanks, but it not something im proud of  . The sad news is that until the day i die, i will remember the cooking times, the temps. and how many shots of mustard from a 1/2 kilogram packet.really useful stuff
In fairness to McDonalds, most of their food is no worse (health-wise) than the equivalent burger meals at other restaurants in the resort. It serves a purpose in being available (fast, cheap, and consistant). I've found it useful at times in the Disney Village, but wouldn't use it for a main meal out. It's particularly handy for when we've overslept and missed our hotel breakfast slot.
Like others have said, everything in moderation is fine... it's only those who eat McDonalds extremely often and combine it with 10 hours a day of computer games and TV who need to worry :P
Hmm McCrap is the badest thing on earth, they prepare the fries and the burgers,
and because of that, u can save ur fries for over 4 years and it will look like an fresh one...
I don´t wanna know what this stuff do in my body, o gosh thats so disgusting...
In germany the McCrap workers, do the old burgers in a microwave to make it warm again and sell it... Thats bad for beople who buy there something :)
I don´t know how is it in oter countrys but i think McCrap is very expansive for a very bad quality...
So and i think McCrap have to stay at the village just because a lot of people like it and because its vor a lot of peeps cheaper than the restaurants. But i never go there to eat something, befor i go there i don´t eat anything the whole day :)
HAHAHAHAHA! McCrap!
I've never been in the one in disney village, and I hardly ever go to mcdonalds in the uk, so I don't care if it gets removed or not to be honest!
Usually the only time I go there is if we're out shopping and we want something quick to eat.

I know how you feel; I used to work at Burger King. It will take a pretty tough bout of Alzheimer's to make me forget that Whopper recipe. Worst jobs in the world, really. But six years, wow. Hats off.
I didn't really work in the kitchen for all that time. I mainly done the stock ordering, Staff Rotas, all the the backroom stuff. Started everyday at 7am, got my break when the breakfast menu ended ( used to get ALL the unsold breakfast stuff, ate like a pig ), and work in the kitchen for a couple of hours.
Anyway, tried the new Oriental BBQ Burger yesterday and was nearly phyically sick ( a first for McD's food, well done :? ) It is absolutely disgusting

Haha. Having seen the kitchen in action, you should know better than to order the special offerings. They take a regular beef patty, cut it up into chunks, throw it into a pita pocket with some liquid smoke-flavored sauce (to trick people into thinking they barbecue their meat) and call it something like the Greek Odyssey Burger. Ick.
Another thing that's always bugged me is that some of their vegetables are "re-hydrated" as opposed to fresh. Whenever you order a Quarter Pounder with cheese, God knows when those onions were last engaging in photosynthesis. Hurricane Katrina may have still been circling the Caribbean. :|

Re-hydrated onions are only used on ham/cheeseburgers. Quarter Cheese burgers use real onions. They are pre-sliced on delivery and
should only be kept in the chiller for 5 days @ 1-4 degrees. 8)

Oh dear, I feel so sorry for you, it's certainly put me off of ever working at McDonalds lol

eg. Hamburger : 1/8 fl oz Mustard
1/4 fl oz Ketchup
1/4 g Rehydrated onions
1 pickle slice,

Impressive. I've always wondered, does McDonald's make you count the circles when you're putting on condiments as well? Eg. three circles of ketchup, two of mustard in a spiral shape (a Burger King hamburger if you add two pickle slices). It's another one of those things I've never managed to shake.
