Title: Trip Report: September 7th - 10th **DAY THREE**
Post by: itslizi on September 10, 2014, 11:43:51 PM
I've just got back from Disneyland Paris, and I expect my holiday blues to kick in nice and early tomorrow when I wake up and aren't in Disneyland any more.

I feel like I've missed a lot on this forum whilst I've been away, so I've got loads to catch up on and I've got a trip report to write up for you all.

Stay tuned.

Title: Re: Trip Report: September 7th - September 10th (Day One)
Post by: itslizi on September 13, 2014, 04:59:37 PM
Day One
It was an early start as I was catching a train from Peterborough to London Kings Cross at 6:46 so I was awake at 5:30 and travelling to the train station by 5:45. I arrived at the station with plenty of time so we sat in the waiting room until the train came around to the platform ahead of the departure, so I jumped on at my first chance and got comfy. The journey to London was smooth and uneventful, I honestly had nothing to worry about.

When we arrived in London, we had some time to kill so walked over to the nearest McDonalds as my boyfriend, Chris wanted a McDonalds Breakfast. After which, we made our way over to London St Pancras though we still had a little while to wait until we could enter the departure lounge. The wait wasn't too dull as there was some campaigners in the station supporting #PetsToParis so there was a crowd of dogs to admire.

When we were able to check in, we did. The process didn't take that long as there wasn't any long queues as our train wasn't due to depart for another hour.  We had to present our tickets, go through security before proceeding through passport control, which was pretty simple although Chris got through passport control to then realise that he never picked his backpack up after security checks, so he had to run back and go back through passport control. The wait wasn't bad, especially  as we had wi-fi access which is always a plus. I picked up a couple of magazines from WHSmith as I needed something to do on the journey over to Disneyland Paris.

The journey dragged, which wasn't surprising. If you are excited about the destination you're travelling, the journey will go extremely slow. When we arrived in the Marne-Le-Vallee station, we jumped off the train and rushed over to Sequoia Lodge to beat the rush of people. We got to Sequoia Lodge by foot, by walking through Disney Village and around the lake and once we got there the queues at arrivals weren't that long. Luckily, our rooms were ready waiting for us so we took our luggage straight over to our room, in Yosemite Lodge.

Before we left our room for Disneyland Park, I changed my leggings for shorts as I definitely underestimated the weather and we walked back around the lake and through Disney Village, admiring the window displays along the way with a smile plastered on my face as I was so happy to have returned to the place where dreams come true.

The first walk down Main Street USA is always something that makes you come to the realisation that you've returned.

We began wandering around Frontierland but quickly decided against Big Thunder Mountain after we saw the queue time as we weren't in the mood to wait longer than 30 minutes so made our way over to Fantasyland via Adventureland. While wandering over, I noticed that Peter Pan and Wendy were doing a Meet and Greet in Adventureland. We didn't do any rides to begin with as we weren't feeling the long queue times, so I used this time to take a look in the shops on Main Street USA as I always like to see the range of items that are available before I commit to buying anything.

We made our way over to Phantom Manor as we noticed that it only had a small wait of five minutes. I'd only experience Phantom Manor once before, but I had no clue of the story behind the ride. That was until a couple of weeks before this trip, so it's nice to experience a ride again once you're aware of the story it tells. By the time we came out Phantom Manor, we decided to make our way over to a fast food restaurant that accepted our Pause Gourmande vouchers so we got rehydrate and had something to eat. Hakuna Matata is where we ended up, as they offered a refreshing drink along with a magnum caramel and nut ice cream bar which gave me a some energy to continue wandering around Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Main Street USA, as for some reason I didn't enter the likes of Discoveryland, until it was time to find a place to watch Disney Magic on Parade from.

It was really weird to watch Disney Magic on Parade near the beginning of the route as I've only ever witnessed parades at the end, as always I fought my emotions as I saw each float go past.

As the parade continued its journey to Main Street USA, we raced around to Big Thunder Mountain by going through all the other lands, only to get there and be welcomed by some Cast Members at the entrance telling us that Big Thunder Mountain is closed. Our attempt to beat queues failed us, so we decided that we're were hungry enough to get some dinner so we made our way to Annette's Diner catching the end of the parade at the end of its journey as we exited the park.

We decided upon dining at Annette's Diner in the Disney Village as they served food in which I liked and I really wanted to experience what it had to offer. There wasn't a long queue when we entered and it wasn't long until we were seated. Our meal plan entitled us take advantage of the Hula Hoop Menu of a starter, a main course, a dessert accompanied with a drink, though our main course was a limited to a choice of 'The Mega' dishes or a 'Biggie Salad' and our dessert had to be either Annette's Brownie, The Cheesiest Choice of Cheesecake or a Deluxe Shake.

I ordered The Original Mega Burger which was a double burger with cheese, bacon, mushrooms, grilled onions and Annette's sauce along with a side order of Hash Brown Potato Sticks then for dessert I had a Strawberry and Oreo Deluxe Shake.

I was amazed with the portion size and all of the food was delicious, though I couldn't finish the shake as it would only cause more harm than good as I can't consume a lot of dairy products in a sitting. Either way, I left satisfied and was full for the rest of the day.

Whereas Chris went for a Double Rockabilly Burger  which was a double burger, cheese, bacon, fried onion and barbecue sauce along with a side order of Onion Rings then for dessert he had Annette's Brownie. Unfortunately he later regretted his decision of Annette's Brownie as he never realised it contained nuts which he doesn't like, though next time he'll read the menu properly.

We headed straight back to the hotel after dinner, as we were utterly tired and in need of a rest, though time flew by and I realised that it wasn't long until Disney Dreams! started so we raced back to the park as fast as we could. I can't believe we missed the beginning of Disney Dreams! but it was all our own fault. As we were late, we decided to watch Disney Dreams! from the end of Main Street USA which gave us a different view to what we had seen before. I couldn't help but shed a tear, I was so happy to be back. When Disney Dreams! ended we hurried out of the park again in hope to get away before we get stuck within a mass of people and once back at the hotel, it wasn't long until we were fast asleep.

I may have shed a tear when watching Disney Magic on Parade for the last time, it was too much. Whilst there may be more trips in the future, I think it may be the distance future, unfortunately.

Thanks, it's taken a quite some time, but I've got a bulleted list for the other days before I forget what I did on each of the days and they ended up blending into one magical time.

Oh yes, we were very lucky with the weather, I had no complaints although when we wanted to go on  Panoramagique it was closed due to strong winds and wasn't open again for the rest of the trip.

Day Two

Our day started off by queuing in a busy hallway for breakfast, I had never seen queues for breakfast this long I think I was waiting longer for breakfast than I did for any of the rides that day, luckily we were spared some of the wait as they had a table for two available and there wasn't any couples in front of us, only big families. I didn't take long to eat as I don't ever eat much in the morning, but I did take a couple of rolls to nibble on later. It felt like I was waiting for Chris for ages as he has plates after plates worth of food and I just wanted to get to the Walt Disney Studios as soon as I could.

Luckily we could go straight over to Walt Disney Studios after breakfast as for the first time ever we went to breakfast with everything we needed for the day ahead, so we headed straight over to experience Ratatouille: The Adventure for the first time. Instead of going past Crush's Coaster and around that way, to get to Ratatouille: The Adventure, we walked via Hollywood Boulevard which definitely seemed an awful lot quieter.

When we got around to Ratatouille: The Adventure, we picked up a Fast Pass, as we like to collect them all, and used the Single Rider queue. I couldn't believe that we walked straight on and we both ended up in the same rat, whilst other riders were queuing for over an hour in the normal queue. It was definitely a risk I didn't mind taking, as we're both adults so it wouldn't of mattered if we ended up in different rats. The ride itself was amazing, I couldn't fault it. Chris was pleasantly surprised as he didn't know what to expect, he didn't even know that the ride offered a 4D experience. I don't want to go into specifics as everybody needs to witness its wonders first hand.

I then proposed a walk around Toy Story Playland, as I am a big fan of Toy Story, though I weren't too bothered about doing any of the rides as I refuse to go on RC Racer as I really don't like the movement of Pirate Ships, and I did both Slinky Dog ZIg Zag Spin and Toy Solders Parachute Drop when I was there on my last visit. We finished off in Walt Disney Studios by taking a look in the shops before making our way over to Disneyland Park, though we had planned to return to Walt Disney Studios the next day anyway.

When we got to Disneyland Park our first ride of the afternoon was Big Thunder Mountain, which was open again. As always when the queue separates we went left, as last year we bypassed about 50 people by doing so, but we weren't as lucky this time although I do have a feeling the left queue is slightly shorter, not that I have any evidence to prove that. It wasn't long until we were at the front of the queue and directed to the our carriage. It was nice to experience Big Thunder Mountain again as I do enjoy it a lot, it was longer than I remembered though not that I'm complaining.

On the way over to our next ride, we picked up a Fast Pass for Big Thunder Mountain to add to our collection. Peter Pan's Flight was next on our list, as last year when I visited the ride was closed. It was a long queue, but we decided to wait as there wasn't a lot I had yet to experience. Although we were queuing for about 10 minutes before being told that the ride had to close for technical difficulties, but as we already picked up a Fast Pass at Big Thunder Mountain we wasn't even able to collect one for Peter Pan's Flight in hope to come back later.

We make our way over to Blanche Neige et les Sept Nains, a ride in which I didn't even know existed even though I've walked past it many times before heading over to Le Pays des Contes de Fées another ride I was yet to come across, we did manage to get the Fast Pass tickets for Peter Pan's Flight which had opened once again, whilst making our way over to Le Pays des Contes de Fées. It was nice to be on a gentle ride, and to be sitting down as my feet were slowly dying.

Our next destination was Discoveryland, were we did Star Tours, Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast and Autopia. As always, I epically failed at Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast and if Autopia is anything to go by, I would be a danger on the roads.

By the time we had finished in Discoveryland, our Fast Pass for Peter Pan's Flight became valid so we took a stroll over in that direction and we ended up walking straight onto the ride, on the way over there we did came across a horse-drawn carriage that had just stopped around Central Plaza which we sat and watched before it took guests through Main Street USA

Chris suggested we go and do Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril as earlier I refused to do Space Mountain: Misson 2 and said the only rollercoaster I would consider that day was Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril, though I never thought Chris would take me up on that.

By this time we were a little peckish so we redeemed our Pause Gourmande vouchers at Hakuna Matata as we weren't disappointed with our choice yesterday. We were utterly shattered so collapsed outside the restaurant as there was no available tables, at which point Chris fall asleep.

As all we were doing was sitting down, we relocated to the area we wanted to watch the parade, once again near the beginning of the route. We were rather early, although we weren't the first, but least we could relax and get a good spot for the parade. The only negative I had about our location was that we were between two sets of speakers so heard the song going at different times.

After the parade passed, we ran over and through Discovery Arcade and luckily was able to cross over and exit the park before the parade had even reached the end of Main Street USA.

We made our way over to Annette's Diner as we enjoyed it that much we couldn't help but return, we even had the same server that recognised us from the day before. Once again, I ordered The Original Mega Burger which was a double burger with cheese, bacon, mushrooms, grilled onions and Annette's sauce however I mixed it up with my side and ordered of Chicken Wings which I halved with Chris whilst Chris halved his Onion Rings. I ordered a Strawberry and Oreo Deluxe Shake again as I just couldn't resist. Chris also went for the same burger he had the day before along with Onion Rings and this time he learnt his lesson and opted for The Cheesiest Choice of Cheesecake.

I can't recall exactly what we did until it was time for Disney Dreams!, there's a good choice we made our way back to the hotel for a little rest before making our way back out for Disney Dreams!. Thankfully we didn't miss the start of it this time, I made sure of it. after which it was time to return to the hotel and get as much sleep as possible, as we definitely needed it.

Thanks, I've not quite finished yet.

Day 3

Breakfast today was a little quieter today, though we ended up leaving for the parks a little later. We went straight over to Walt Disney Studios as I wanted to experience Ratatouille: The Adventure again, so we made our way over to La Place De Remy and joined the Singer Rider queue which was a little busier but I really didn't mind waiting for 10 minutes when the standard queue was 75 minutes by now. Even though by using the Single Rider queue you risk being separated, Chris and I were directed to the same rat which we shared with a family of four. The second time was just as amazing as the first, I can't fault the ride as it has got to be the best 4D I've ever experienced.

After exiting the ride and taking in the wonders that La Place De Remy offers, we made our way over to Toon Studio where I had a tough decision to make, Mickey Mouse or Buzz Lightyear. I had never met a character before, as I never saw the attraction in meeting characters when you're an adult and should know better, I was wrong. I queued up to met Mickey Mouse, as he would be a good character to start with. When I got to the front and Mickey invited me over, I went in for a hug, if I didn't I would only regret it later, he then took my arm and danced with me before we posed for pictures. I walked away with the biggest smile on my face.

Although we say we shouldn't hop between parks, as the queues were long for Tower of Terror and there wasn't anything left in Walt Disney Studios that we wanted to do, we made our way over to Disneyland Park. As Chris had his backpack today, as I could ride rollercoaster's without the fear of losing my bag, Space Mountain was our first stop. We didn't even have to queue, as soon as we reached the boarding area we were directed to our positions before we boarded our trains and the restraints had us firmly in our seats, then we were off.  I had forgotten that there was some sudden movement before you launch so I was screaming for my ride photo. I don't mind big thrills, but they're not my favourite.

We weren't sure where to go next, so wandered and I found myself by the Mad Hatter's Tea Cups so I raced over to take a picture of the lanterns, at which time Chris spotted that The Mad Hatter and Alice had just arrived for a meet and greet and asked if I wanted to meet them. I wasn't sure if I should bother or not, but there was only a couple people around them so what was I waiting for. I raced over, beating some children over to them and before I knew it I was meeting The Mad Hatter and Alice.

I was pleasantly surprised with the interaction I had with them both, The Mad Hatter began asking whether I was advertising the places I visited on my shirt, so I sadly say I've only visited Paris therefore my shirt is complete lies, so he was like Paris isn't on here, I was amused by this and we went on to pose for pictures, between pictures I adjusted my hair, and I hadn't realise that The Mad Hatter saw, but he did and he stopped and readjusted his. Once again, I walked away with the biggest smile on my face.

We continued our wanders around Fantasyland before passing under the Castle onto Main Street USA and we saw so many characters out and about without this time. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were out with the White Rabbit, Hook and Smee where being escorted to their meet and greet location, the Evil Stepmother and Ugly Step Sisters were meeting visitors at the back of the castle and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger were outside Plaza Gardens. I remember walking past the Evil Stepmother and Chris was concerned with how rude she was being, that was until I told him she's in character.

Our next destination was Sequoia Lodge, as we wanted to relax and the swimming pool was a good place for that. We didn't have much interest in swimming, we were there for the jacuzzi and as it was the middle of the afternoon there was only a couple of people there. We didn't stay for too long, in just under an hour we left again feeling refuelled, and made our way over to Annette's diner for an early dinner as we were starving. I didn't even have to look at the menu, I knew exactly what I wanted, the same as the day before, The Original Mega Burger with my side order of Chicken Wings and a Strawberry and Oreo Deluxe Shake for dessert.

When we were waiting for our desserts to arrive, I realised if I gulped down my milkshake and raced over to the park, I would be able to catch Disney Magic on Parade! at the end of its route, so that is what I did. I left Chris at Annette's to savour every bite of The Cheesiest Choice of Cheesecake and go back to the hotel, while I went back to Disneyland Park. When I entered, the parade hadn't even reached the top of Main Street USA so I found an empty spot at the end of Discover Arcade right by the gates where the parade exits and sat down, waiting patiently.

It was a little emotional watching the parade as I didn't know when I'll ever see it again, though to add to the magic of it all there was a little boy dressed as Peter Pan on his dad's shoulders right next to me and as Peter Pan came by he ran over to him and ended up giving him a high five.

I don't think the little boy was even aware as to what was going on as he was too busy looking at the floats that already gone by and didn't realise that Peter Pan was tapping him to get his attention and say hi. When the parade ended, I wandered through the shops on Main Street USA, before heading to the Disney Village to see what the shops there had to offer then made my way back to the hotel to be reunited with Chris.

Whilst sat in the hotel room, I couldn't help but check the live wait times and saw that Big Thunder Mountain only had a wait of 10 minutes, that's the lowest I've seen it the entire trip. I couldn't just sit in the hotel and relax knowing that I was missing out. So we returned to the park early to ride Big Thunder Mountain as the sun was setting before watching Disney Dreams! for the very last time.

Glad you had a great time, the weather was so lovely then and I was impressed to see so many characters out as well. I also didn't think I'd want to meet them too badly, but my sister and I started doing a bit more active hunting by the end of our trip cause we enjoyed our interactions so much  ;D

I'm gonna need to put up my trip report soon.

Thanks, and yes, I had such a wonderful time. Whilst I would love to go back soon, it's not going to happen. My boyfriend and I have discussed it and we need to start saving money so we can afford to move out and get a place of our own so maybe not for another few years.

I did, I hope you did too. Yes, the weather was lovely and I was also surprised to see so many characters out,so that was a pleasant surprise. I would have happily queued for a couple more but it's not my boyfriends favourite thing to do whilst Disneyland Paris and he got the chance as a child to meet characters.

Is your trip report up yet, I'll have to take a look.

That's quite alright, it's nice to share my magical experience with people who want to listen. I think friends and family aren't interested as they obviously don't believe in magic.
