Title: Light Ears
Post by: JessJones23 on March 29, 2014, 03:44:35 AM
So I'm not heading to DLP until July, but trying to budget for it  ;D  I was wondering if the Light Ears are worth it? How many people generally have them? Does anyone have a picture of an average dreams with light ears?
Thanks for any help!!

We bought light ears but the one day that we stayed for the show they had a technical problem and nothing worked, the ears wouldn't synch to the show and there was no sound. That said they are quite nice things if you're a Disney fan :)

Usually there are about 10 people on the entire Central Plaza who have them.
And 8 of those people are small children.
The other 2 are me and my mum.  ;D

Technically they are a big fail.
Nonetheless I bought them on the day they got released, and I still wear them every trip (7/8 times a year).

Can't remember what we paid for ours but they are £18 from Disney Store in UK

haha...this made me smile....

my two children have them ,16 and 9 and they love them....
when they were smaller and the electrical light parade and then fanti was on they used to buy the light spinners for that and they would cost about 15 euros so to me the light ears have just replaced them and we can keep taking them back as no different ones to buy like the spinners so money saved aswell.... ;)

Ok thanks guys  :)  I guess we'll see how we feel when we are there. I'm assuming we'd get a discount with an annual pass?

Yes, but only if you buy them in a shop, not from the cart vendors

This is true. And you get a 10% discount with the Fantasy AP, and 20% with the Dream AP.

I've got some that a friend got as a present for me.  I don't think I'd have bought them myself, and TBH, having used them I'd be even less inclined to buy them in their current form.

I'm a massive Ear fan (I get a new headband on every trip...) but I don't like the 'hat' style.  I don't find it very comfortable, and I found I had to wear the elastic quite tight to keep them on.  It's really bulky, which is a pain for packing, shoving somewhere when you're on a ride and carrying around the park (I think they look a bit silly in the light so wore headband Ears during the day).

The biggest 'issue' I found with them is that the one person who doesn't get the benefit of the changing/syncing lights is the person who's wearing them!  I didn't see anyone else wearing them the night I wore them for Dreams, so presumably the people behind me were getting a good show from them but I have no idea what they were doing.

If they'd put the same technology into a headband which looked a bit more exciting in daylight, I'd be a much bigger fan.  And perhaps they'd end up cheaper and therefore have more users, and get the critical mass they really need for the effect Disney are after.

I've got a vague plan to hack them into something a bit less clunky....
