Title: Swing Into Spring (2014)
Post by: dazzle_v2003 on February 06, 2014, 08:10:17 PM
I hope I am ok creating a new topic ready for the details slowly emerging about the upcoming Spring Festival. I couldn't see one already created.

News about the cavalcade has been emerged courtesy of @DisneylandBerry on twitter. They have written

"For the Spring Festival's show, the train has lost one wagon but he will be accompanied by three modified cars of the Disney's Stars'n'Cars"

Also just revealing that there will be the usual characters plus some uncommon ones. Which uncommon characters would people like to see in the cavalcade? I'm looking forward to seeing the new look train. Glad it's back.

Other than a cavalcade do we have any other details on the festival?

Not really. Everything is very hush hush. I expect we will get a few more details emerging over the coming weeks especially after the Annual shareholder meeting which is happening very soon.

There are rumours there will be decorations on Main Street Station and around the castle.

Found this on Mice chat.

"This year, the Disneyland Park will host The Flowers Festival. Directly inspired by Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, this festival will begin on the 3rd of April until the beginning of the Summer Season in July. "

I hope the decorations are better then when they previously did the festival. haha

I'm really looking forward to seeing the cavcalade I have to admit especially the soundtrack used for it and the costumes etc.

It's good they are generating another season to add to the seasons already taking place throughout the year.

I agree with dazzle. But why,oh why do they announce this with only a couple of months notice? They don't seem to realise that many of us, especially here in the UK, make our travel plans months in advance and we deserve more notice than this!
To be honest, it smacks of extreme amauteurism on behalf of Disney and a lack of knowledge of their customers!
Title: Re: Disney Spring Festival 2014
Post by: dazzle_v2003 on February 08, 2014, 02:28:22 AM
I agree with Captain Rocket I don't understand why they haven't announced this yet for visitors who come from a far to book to come and see a brand new festival at the park.

Instead we get fed little bits of information from the fan sites on twitter and get teased that way but no official word. This works to get everybody talking and excited but it doesn't get people booking their tickets as they don't know when or if it will be happening. This has all been in the planning for months we all knew it was going to happen 2 months ago now so a shout out to Disney tell us so we can come and visit while the festival is on. The bottom line is they are losing out on potential visitors.
Title: Re: Disney Spring Festival 2014
Post by: captain rocket on February 08, 2014, 10:02:34 AM
Exactly!
These events are supposed to attract visitors, but how can this happen if they keep it secret? I really thought that DLRP were getting their act together regarding communication but this just proves that they are not! For goodness sake they are supposed to be professional and this event will obviously cost a lot of money to put on and they are missing out on potential visitors.
Maybe the French always book visits late and this is the market the court the most?
Title: Re: Disney Spring Festival 2014
Post by: dazzle_v2003 on February 08, 2014, 01:15:30 PM
Maybe they are hoping people will book last minute after seeing what the festival is like once it has started. It is running for about 3 months or so. Or they are holding all their eggs in Ratatouille's opening but even then we can't book for that ride specifically as we don't know the opening day.

Anyway moving on I am looking forward to this festival to see what it is like. Just wish we knew more about it.

Last point on this topic of communication I hope if anybody from Disneyland Paris read this forum and see these posts please take note and improve for the future.

What would everyone else like to see as part of this festival?

I would love to see the festival, as I'm there 31/3 - 4/4.

You may just be in luck as I think it is due to run from April to June with i guess soft openings late March. This is all from the top of my head so I may be wrong.

That's what we are hoping as the 2 grandmother's are coming too, one of which has never been.  I just hope it won't get to mad with last minute bookings and make it too busy.
Title: Re: Disney Spring Festival 2014
Post by: dazzle_v2003 on February 10, 2014, 03:54:27 AM
To be honest I don't think it will affect attendance now announcing it late and last minute bookings. I suspect a lot of people will just go next year if it looks good. I am imagining this will be a yearly thing. As long as you aren't there during Easter Holidays it isn't that busy at all. Hope you have a good time!

Me too!! We are going 31sr march to 3 April and then they go back to school for 1 day!! My girls are taking their spellings and maths though so they can still do their Friday test!! I've did this twice before as well! I know it's frowned upon but I work hard, am a single parent and just can't afford the extra money to go in the school term, it's ridiculous and so overpriced.
I'm hoping we're gonna see the flowers festival before we go home but I have a funny feeling the festival will start the day after we leave!! Lol

hi there
we are there 30/6 - 4/7
do you think it will still be on then ???, and with them using the cars from the studios will that not likely be on either ??? , think  we might have picked a bad week and miss everything  :'(
hope not ,  the sister in law and family are coming with us for the first time and this was only time she could get off work, are well never mind , we will be in disneyland  ;D  thats all that really matters  ;)

The Stars N Cars parade is not on during the Spring Festival in the Studios park to replace it a meet and greet using some cars and characters will be taking place. We don't have any more information.

I think the festival goes on until mid June now as the dates are still being changed which is probably why it's not official yet so it may not still be on ilovemainstxxx when you go so you will be in Summer Season. Stars N Cars I am presuming will be back to normal if the festival is not on when you go.

Loulou169 you may be lucky and get the soft openings of the cavacalade and the decorations will most probably be up which you can enjoy and see.

We just need Disneyland Paris to confirm the dates of the festival then everyone will know if they will be there for it.

We will be there from 9th April until 14th, and i am sooo happy they are doing this!
Of course i am happy just being there celebrating my DD birthday, but so good to have something extra! When i saw all the Halloween and Christmas decorations, cavalcades, new aditions i was a bit sad that we were going during a time when nothing special would happen. But with all the buzz around Spring Festival i am hoping for a really special time this year!

I saw somewhere this would start April 3rd, going until 20s June... but of course it can change, as there is not a fixed announced date yet! Also read on another forum that a likely date for Ratatouille ride to open is 14th July. Again no official date as of yet!

I think it looks absolutely stunning!
My favorite version was the 20th Anniversary train, the colors were so bright and happy.
But this one looks even better. I'll be there for the opening of this festival, can't wait to see it!

I thought the 20th Anniversary was the best design until I saw this design.

I am also interested to know are we having new music designed for this parade or using music from another Disney park. I do love Disney parade music.

During the "rumoured" Spring Festival, Rapunzel will do her meet and greets not at the Princess Pavillion for a change.
She will be available for meets around Casey's Corner, at the spot where Winnie the Pooh does his meet and greets right now.

Pictures are coming out showing some of the decorations as they are being put in to the park. It all looks great especially the topiarys on Central Plaza. Some of the music for the Spring Promenade is from the Spring Festival if I remember correctly from Tokyo Disneyland.

The full breakdown from the festival is below courtesy of InsideDLParis on Twitter. It all sounds brilliant. Wish I was going. The two new shows especially Spring Promenade sounds really good and exciting. So many performers and characters!

When entering Disneyland Park, Guests will be treated to freshly planted flowers (over a million each year) together with brand new decorations, fun Disney Character experiences and all painted together with the Magic of Live Music!
Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto and Goofy will be decorating the Park, starting with Main Street U.S.A. Station where they will star on beautiful portaits dressed in their Spring finest.
Town Square will be the place to enjoy Mary Poppins inspired topiaries, a beautifully decorated Springtime gazebo and Duffy's Spring Garden infront of 'the Boardinghouse' near Liberty Arcade.
Minnie Mouse will not be joining Duffy this season but will meet her fans in Frontierland, near Cowboy Cookout Barbecue, instead.

As by magic, beautiful topiaries will appear on Central Plaza representing characters from the 101 Dalmations, The Lion King, the Aristocats and Bambi.
Small princesses will be happy to know that Rapunzel, from Walt Disney's Tangled, will be meeting and greeting them near Casey's Corner infront of a gigantic golden heart of the season.

Main Street Victorian Residents will invite Guests to sing and dance a long in "Welcome to Spring"
An uplifting new happening on and around the Town Square Gazebo upto 6 times a day. (Saturdays-Wednesdays only)
After they welcomed you to another beautiful day on Main Street U.S.A. you might even get the chance to meet some of them for a quick chat or picture.

The main event of Spring this year will be "Disney's Spring Promenade" (Wednesdays-Sundays)
Twelve minutes full of fun and excitement like never seen before on Central Plaza and the Royal Castle Stage.
Upto 5 times a day, more than 90 dancers and almost 30 Disney Characters will get out and celebrate the warmer weather!
Part of the Characters will be Mickey and his friends dressed up in their newest Spring costumes, incl. Clarabelle that made her debut last Halloween at Disneyland Paris.
Your best friends from Wonderland, the Hundred Acre Wood, Woody and Jessie from Toy Story, Stitch and Pinocchio join in together with Mary Poppins and Bert to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney's Classic: Mary Poppins!

The main theme of the show is inspired by 'Spring Fever' from Tokyo Disney Sea's 'Spring Carnival' and will be reinforced by the Jolly Holiday Band and the Swing into Spring Orchestra that will also play your favourite songs from Walt Disney's Mary Poppins.

Why on earth do Disneyland Paris think it's okay to use "Curlz" font. They used the exact same font at Halloween too. Surely there are many amazing, professional looking fonts they could use instead? Does this bother anyone else?

That really does not bother me. It looks different and festive.

The font bothers me. I work in events and for an event to be truly successful you have to carefully consider every single detail. There's a whole section on Dafont dedicated to 'curly' fonts: http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=105&text=Spring&psize=l (http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=105&text=Spring&psize=l)

That said, this special season is absolutely exciting!

I saw the "rehersal" yesterday and it looks as if it will be well worth seeing for character fans and dance fans alike. I will post some photos later tonight or tomorrow.

Haha, I totally agree. It's almost like "Hey, we need some new typography for a new banner this afternoon! Quick, make something in Word!"  ::)  :p

On topic again, love this idea of a little "flower festival" in DLRP!

I think this festival is a great addition to the calender of events. The two new shows are absolutely great. Love Spring Promenade. Great music, dancers and character performances. Long may this festival continue.
