Title: Captain EO Has Now closed
Post by: bad-pink-tink on February 02, 2014, 06:46:37 PM
At 6 pm UK time, 7 pm Paris time today 2 February Captain EO will close its doors in Disneyland Paris for the last time. The closure is just in Paris at the moment but there are rumours it will close in other parks, in preparation for Star Wars / Star Tours refurbishment. At this particular time there is no word on what will replace it in the theatre or what will happen to the theatre.

Yes this is a permanent closure. Disney only brought it back to the parks in 2010 due to the huge public interest after the death of Michael Jackson in 2009. It was never meant as a permanent attraction, just as a way of Disney acknowledging and paying tribute to Michael Jackson. At the beginning of 2013 Disney discontinued all Captain EO merchandise except 1 t shirt and 1 hat in all the parks. Disney have announced many times since 2012 that Captain EO is being closed in various parks but each time the closure has been postponed.  Disneyland Paris is the first of the parks to close Captain EO.
