Title: reservations- how far in advance?
Post by: Gemma W on January 14, 2014, 10:59:27 PM
We are off to DLP in 17 sleeps and have the full board dining plan. I have a plan of where we would like to eat when but now wondering if I will need to make reservations and if so do I try and do it before I go or will it be ok to do it when we get there? If we should be ok doing it there do I just ask at the hotel reception? Any help much appreciated!

hey

If you really want to be sure you can call the restaurant reservation line.

If I am right You are going in the weekend. it will be more crowded in the weekends than in the weekday's.  You have a good change that it will be very quiet in the weekday's because it is low season.

I went to the blue lagoon, agrabah cafe and the silver spur last year in about the same period when you are going and, made reservations on the first day of our stay on town hall. The restaurants where so quiet that I wondered if it was necessary to make a reservation at all. this was all in weekday's though.

So if you're meal plans are really fixed, and don't want any surprises I recommend to call the reservation line to be sure (they can also tell you which restaurants are open for diner and lunch on which day, as not all restaurants will be open every day in the low season. )

But if you're a bit flexible, and don't like to call (they do speak English) you can make reservations on the first day of your stay, at your hotel, city hall and the restaurants themselves

Has anyone had any problems when reserving meals in advance? I called today to book for end October and the lady on the phone was really rude. I asked her to repeat back what had been booked due to her being rushing through what I was saying and she refused. How do I know if they are booked without calling back (only got a mobile phone) Going half term so wont get charactor meals once we arrive. Thanks  :(

The lady I talked with last month was exceptional! She repeated back all our reservations to make sure that she didn't make any mistakes, without me asking. I guess you were just unlucky!

We made reservations last weekend for our trip in October, and the person on the phone was very polite and helpful. So I agree with msRavenswood, it was probably just bad luck...
Maybe you can call back and ask if your reservation is made correctly, just to be sure?

I've made the reservations for my visit from the 14th of September to the 18th on the 25th of August I think. :D

The lady who answered the phone wasn't that well versed in English, but once we got past the initial issue of her not hearing me properly the reservations were made promptly and courteously. :)
Service was certainly good enough, and I had no fully booked restaurants thankfully.

Unfortunately I did learn that apparently the Manhattan Restaurant in Hotel New York is closed on the 17th, but I'll check that again once I'm actually in the park, don't think I'll have any issues finding a table elsewhere if I can't make a reservation. ;)

Glad you managed to booked yours all ok, not long till your trip now  :)

I did email DLH and they have been brilliant in resolving the issues I had, feel very reassured now plus they have confirmed officially now that there will not be a Halloween Brunch on the 31st Oct, so doing the Princess meal instead  :)
