Yes but I do wonder what they will be doing in september for example when the park closes at 7 pm and it's getting dark at 8:30 pm ?!

Maybe just have a dusk showing, might work okay. When I saw Fantillusion last summer it wasn't completely pitch black, but worked fine.

I guess either the candles will be very bright (like LED/fibre optics - remember the flashes of light on the pirate ship during Peter Pan to the Rescue?) or they will make it enough of a "show" so that it doesn't matter if it's dark.  I think the illumination will be more secondary here, compared to the EFC.

In that concept art and on the commercials the candles really look like shining beacons.. it looks like a lighthouse or aircraft warning lights! (which could actually look very cool seen from around the park) I wonder what they'll be like in real life? :D

And for Nala from the decorations topic:

Quote from: "Nala_84"It's a pity I don't know the Christmas Season and within the tree lightning ceremony :( Is it described anywhere?

Thank you so much, Baloo :)

That looks so magically, really great! (I know my next visit after the 15th will be during the Christmas Season)!

So will it be similar to this? So that the 15 Characters will dance around the middle of Central Plaza?
I hope that the Extra Magic hours in September will make it possible to see this show only one time in the dark or in the dawn  :tink: I'm just sooo curious!!

Yes Nala, you got it!  They're even using the same stage (without the giant books).  :D
Title:
Post by: Masamune on March 08, 2007, 11:43:14 PM
Do we know yet exactly what characters will be involved in the Ceremony?

:o I'm assuming it's just Mickey and friends, like in the picture.

Just out of curiosity, where do the characters come from to get to the stage? Do they have to walk part way through the park, or is there a secret tunnel that leads to Central Plaza?
Title:
Post by: Kristof on March 09, 2007, 12:18:06 AM
Last year they came from the door near the Wishing Well.

For the Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony during the Christmas Season, the characters walk from the Parade Building behind Its a Small World to the cast rest area near Bella Notte. Later they exit through the door near the wishing well and emerge through the Castle to the stage - walking down a path which has been roped off so to be clear of guests.

I believe that the Character Express may be used for this ceremony, but that may of changed.

La Rouquine on DCP told us that the first characters (Jiminy, Donald, Daisy) are on the castle now. Along with the Xmas lights structure... :( It's so ugly in daytime! WHY WHY WHY???

The latest show & parade times have been announced - Candleabration will be performed every day from 1st April at 18h00, for the first two weeks of April at least.

So it's definitely more a first-sign-of-darkness show rather than a nighttime show, which makes sense really, since they'll want those lovely character candles to be lit for as long as possible.
Title:
Post by: Nala_84 on March 17, 2007, 05:23:18 PM
Oh what a pity. I hoped it'd be at least one hour later so that it's a bit dark... Is it possible that the show will be performed later if there are two Extra Magic Hours in the evening?  :)

But I guess it'll be still great, even at six o'clock!  :cheshire_bounce:

I doubt they would perform it later simply due to extra magic hours, afterall that leaves out the normal guests to see it a lot.

We were sat outside in the garden tonight and at 7.30pm uk time (8.30 in France) it was still light so I think 6pm in France it is going to be a little bit early.

Dlrp.fr have pictures and a video of the show on their website:

//http://www.dlrp.fr/actu_disneyland_paris_15_ans_bougillumination_anniversa_1101.html

I have to say I like the way they've used the 'Year of a Million Dreams'/'Flying' music when they actually light the castle - it has a lot of impact. Not sure about the flags bit at the start though - all the characters would probably be better being on the stage from the start.

Also I think it's a bit too light at the time of day it is shown - you can't see the candles very well at all!

Yes I agree it's spectacular at night, but it doesn't have the same effect during the day, in my opinion.

I hope it's shown on the evening during the summer - but I bet the fireworks don't feature again!

:D It looks wonderful.

:( I am worried about all this talk of the show not being as good during the day time. We're going in the Summer, and it doesn't really go dark in the Summer till like 7pm. I hope they decide to move the show back so that it's dark when it starts.

When I saw the afternoon version of the show on a video yesterday, I was quite underwhelmed to be honest. I couldn't see the light on the castle that well. But when I saw a video of the nighttime version of the show today, it made much more sense. Hopefully Disney will decide to perform the show during dusk or at night only, because that way it is awesome. By the way, I would like to congratulate them with the excellent choice when it comes to the music. Great stuff!  8)

Yes, the song has to be played many times...It is a song that does not work when you hear it for the first time. But after few more times hearing it, you just want to buy it.

Also Dancin was sold in that way...

Someone earlier talked about this stage affecting a presentation of Wishes. Wishes WILL appear this year as I've been told the stage has some doors facing the castle (like the "Wishes" sign) does. This is obviously for the projection equipment.

Wishes WILL be on this year, have no fear of that!

is he going to be in the show everyday now.......... i really hope so or was it just for that 1 apperence...., i have experince with costumes.......but that does look very hard to walk in....... looks a tad scary......, and those candle arms must be very heavy........,, but again, take my hat off to them.....

Well, hopefully they'll at least consider doing the show a bit later in the Evening. :( Like people have mentioned, it won't be much of a show if we can't even tell the difference between lit candles and non-lit candles because the sky is still light.

@ Nala - :) We should both have our fingers crossed.

There will be a fireworks display during August, however it will just be standard wishes, the fireworks performed on the 31st March, were for the press event only.  Candlebration does not include any fireworks itself.

:D yes wishes will be on this summer,
:D yes thats what the doors in the stage are for

 and starting this friday for a 10 day trial candelabration will be on 2 times a day, they know there is a problem with it still being daylight but they are trying to find a solution!

=D> with all the great work that the entertainment department has done for the birthday year and all the problems that they have overcome dont you think that u could cut them some slack for overlooking 1 detail.

things are finally coming together, just enjoy them dont gossip!

I saw the "daytime" version yesterday.  No real "illumination", no Lumiere, sun setting in the corner of my eye... but I still loved it.  The dancers with flags and hats, the characters with their instruments... and the MUSIC!!!!  I loved the Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony, but this is spectacular, it feels so grand.  I didn't know what to expect from this show, but I really love it.  It's quick, epic, simple and very magical.  I had goosebumps through the whole thing.

Obviously a million times better at night like on the 31st, but hey, still a great show.

What's the official line on why the banners and candles haven't been illuminated these past 2 / 3 days?  I don't care about the show being in daylight, but they should at least leave the lights on so when it goes dark you can see them...

Do you think there's a chance Lumiere could return for these new nighttime versions?  Why exactly did they schedule it at 18.00?  It all seems very strange...

Yep that was me! I wasn't 100% sure it was you either, I've only seen your picture once at the Palmenhaus, so was trying to remember that, but couldn't be sure and by the time I'd decided to ask you were gone.

I've finished working now until June, and my parents and brother came over for a few days, staying at the Holiday Inn so I spent a few days with them in the parks, which was nice. And yes you probably did see me on the bus, first time I've used them infact - they are a nightmare at times!

Lumiere will not be back for the nighttime versions.

The reason it is so early is mainly due to the way the rota's work.[/i]

Last friday 13 april, there were 2 versions, on 18u the day-time version like was noticed on the parkmap, and one about 20u30 I think, nothing was mentioned in the parkmap about this second "night-time" version of the show. I only saw the last few minutes of the night time version because we were eating at Plaza Gardens Restaurant. The day-time version is really stupid, en I will never watched it again (and yes I'm a very very big Disney fan, lol) The nighttime version is a lot better, BUT a little small fireworks at the end would be very welcome.....and please bring Lumiere back to the stage !

And I just wonder, if the whole music is from the Peter Pan Movie...
or if they used other sampels... for example the fanfare at the beginning
or the drums in the middel-part of the show!
Does anyone know more?
I MUST HAVE THIS MUSIC!!!!

    For SkySurfer:

    The Music of Candleabration

The music of Candleabration is comprised mainly of three key pieces - the opening fanfare and majestic, orchestral dance scores, the 15th Anniversary 'Dreams' theme and finally the song, 'Just Like We Dreamed It'.

The show's opening fanfare and Mickey's top hat dance routine are original creations written especially for the show by Musical Director for Disneyland Resort Paris, Vasile Sirli.  With blasts of strong brass, tapping drums and a swirling, anticipation-building orchestration of strings, the music was recorded in Hungary by 80 musicians of the Budapest Pop Orchestra, who previously recorded the show stop scores for The Wonderful World Of Disney Parade (1998-2007) and Disney's ImagiNations Parade (2000-2001) for Disneyland Resort Paris, amongst other pieces.  The music of Mickey's chorus line route can also be heard in a slightly altered style through the music of Alpha Bet You Are.

The instantly recognisable theme used for the opening appearance of the flag artists and for the "bougillumination" itself comes from the 2003 Universal Pictures 'Peter Pan' live-action film and therefore from internationally renowned film composer James Newton Howard - a Disney name himself with past credits including the scores of 'Dinosaur', 'Atlantis: The Lost Empire' and 'Treasure Planet'.  Named 'Flying', the piece was re-recorded by Disney for use in their television commercials for Disney Parks.  Seeking a suitable piece of illuminations music, this popular 'Dreams' theme seemed a perfect fit - not least because it gave some perfect synergy between what guests have seen on television at home and what they see unfold before their eyes in the park.

Finally, the theme song of Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade - 'Just Like We Dreamed It' - gets a final encore for the anniversary year, with a performance at the end of the show with all the Disney VIPs.  The song here, the show stop version of the theme, includes a special encore section at the end itself.

Our thanks and praise must go to DLRP this morning, since the latest park schedule (http://www.disneylandparis.com/shows_parades/DLP.pdf (http://www.disneylandparis.com/shows_parades/DLP.pdf)) reveals that Candleabration will be playing at park closing time this year (19:00 or 20:00), meaning that there should be much more chance of actually seeing the candles light up!

Last year it played at 18:00 or even earlier at this time of the year.

Okay, some breaking news - which is very sketchy at the moment: Candleabration is changing soon, the show will be tweaked with a new theme.  We really don't know what will be changed at the moment, but rehearsals start in a few weeks, so details will soon be available.

Also the Hub stage is being removed in January, with a temporary removal for safety tests in early July - the show will see another change at that time.

Also new "happenings" are being planned for this summer in Discoverland and Adventureland.

    All exciting news!

Streetmosphere for Discoveryland? Thats very exciting. Perhaps they will use Stitch or Buzz Lightyear (hopefully neither of the two), or is it possible they will finally set up a Jedi Training Academy in the old L'Astroport Services (probably too expensive and ambitious). Personally I would like to see the return of the Jules Verne character. That would be awesome.

That was the big extravaganza to launch the entire 15th Anniversary - like all publicity events they had the cameras there to film it for the press and to keep a record. Unfortunately great things like that are never released on DVD, but you can find the videos on YouTube, etc:

Last summer they did Candleabration in a very clever, yet due to guest flow messy way, fantillusion was performed at 10.30pm, then candleabration was at 11pm, with the fireworks beginning at 11.15pm, this worked very well for everyone who was not standing directly in front of the castle for fantillusion.

I recently saw a plan for the new central plaza stage. It is previewed that the stage will be made into a permant stone stage - taking up the entire centre circle of the hub. With 4 extra round mini-stages, on current the 4 garden area's.

It will be all connected together using a tycial Disney design, which looked a little brash and tacky in the plan.

Mickey's brithday will not go un-celebrated in the park(s)!

Always thought it would be nice to have smaller stages indented into the grass banks, although the lack of green in the centre of the park sounds like a bad idea! They'd have to remove trees right? I'd imagine the complete stage might seem a little out of proportion, however something more permanent can only be a good thing (effects can be installed, extra lights in Central Plaza rigged etc).

Since they recently re-built the castle bridge, could they continue the castle design for the stage (like MK and TDL?) The current gold design clearly doesn't fit and the "stone" effect of previous years seems quite detatched still.

Hmmm, that sounds like an awful idea to be honest. I miss the days when the hub was a pleasant, green plaza. And "brash and tacky"... Oh boy.

The MK has a permanent stage, but that one is more like DLP's Theatre du Chateau, leaving the actual hub a plaza.

DLP pulls off some great shows, but they tend to forget that Main Street is supposed to be a pleasant Victorian street, not a generic canvas for seasonal entertainment.

Talking of that stage, its being used for various differnt events including the Narnia Movie Premiere, which videos are up on YouTube. I don't have a problem with them using the stage, but it often leaves the Royal Castle Stage sitting empty. Anyway the stage in the hub makes a perfect area to stage the castle and Christmas lightening ceremony's.

And she want's to listen and dance to the music every day. But she always sings "Tinker Bell, Tinker Bell tinker o way" :tink: instead of "Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way". So cute.

Quote from: "Reiana"The Entchanted Candleabration was magical. I recorded it on DVD an my little daughter (2 since november trip) is watching it almost twice a week since we're back home.
And she want's to listen and dance to the music every day. But she always sings "Tinker Bell, Tinker Bell tinker o way" :tink: instead of "Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way". So cute.
     :P

Aaaawwwww... that's fantastic lol   :P

I'm glad you both enjoy it :)

Is the candleabration still going on? If they're already building the new stage, where can Mickey and co go and dance?

I'm not sure, but it was quite unusal last week when we were there. Perhaps I should explain. We first managed to catch it on Tuesday. It wasn't mentioned in any of the programmes when we were there (which after looking at the dates on them overall ran from the 20/12/08 to the 06/01/09). At 6:55 there was an announcement that Enchanted Candleabration would start in 5 minutes. So we went to watch it, and here's where it gets weird. None of the Characters or dancers appeared on the stage, and the music played without any of the speaking over it. They included all of the effects and music for lighting the candles, tree, lights in Main Street and the Castle, but without the dancing, characters, anything. It was so bizzare. Anyway, we managed by luck to spot it on Thursday when we were in Frontierland, and it was the normal show again! The full show, all the Characters, dances, etc. So why wasn't it on earlier in the week then? The weather was fine as far as I was aware :?

Anyway, I expect this is how they'll do it from now on, a quick 5 minute announcement, no programmes, and just the music. I did read a rumour somewhere though (can't for the life of me remember where though, sorry) that Mickey and Minnie may appear on the Castle's balcony and do the show from there, like they were meant to in the summer for the fireworks. But don't hold my word to it though

    Hmm strange indeed!

Hope they do have Mickey and Minnie, it can't be that magical without them...

    Thanks butlin boy!

Do they really need to do Candlebration now? I think they should have ended it once the Christmas season was finished, especially as they have started construction so early on the new stage.

It would be pretty boring if it was just Mickey and Minnie on a balcony, especially if they do the full show.

The reason there was no characters out on the Monday was because the stage was way too icy because of the snow and it was far to dangerous to expect them to dance around on the stage.

Tues they was back in action but had to be helped on and off the stage.

With the stage currently being removed, yet another version has been introduced with Mickey & co on the Castle balcony.

They made it to the balcony!

Can't say I like them using the full castle lights outside of Christmas though. They light the candles, then blow them out, then let Tink light up the full winter Castle, then "celebrate our 15 magical years"... What?!

I half expected HSM to roll out, Tarzan to swing by and a song from The Legend of the Lion King be included.

I like it. It's fantastic to finally see Mickey and Minnie on the balcony after they didn't make it in the summer, there's something magical about the spot light on the balcony and the 15, and then M&M appearing. I'm not too sure about the Christmas lights either, but I expect they're there to make the show last longer, and to make it a bit more worth-while, perhaps they'll stop using them when the nights get lighter as well. The characters at the end are a brilliant idea, the only problem is that people watching it from further up Main Street, or behind the green fence aren't going to have a clue what's going on!

Well it happens to be the coldest winter for a very long time    .

But still, it does slightly defeat the point of the ice look being for Christmas.  Oh well, I suppose as long as it makes the show a little longer and worth waiting for, then good.

So they're keeping the Christmas lights on the castle for longer??

That's interesting... Personally I love them, so wouldn't mind seeing them again... Even if they look slightly out of season! And the Candleabration would look pretty short without them, they add a bit more magic...

I´m not sure about the christmas lights but I like the balcony thing much! And the characters coming out of the castle is also a great thing! Reminds me on the opening party in 1992. I think they choose the castle lights to stretch the show a bit. It would be very short with just candles and characters.

That's great it looks really great with Mickey and Minnie up on the balcony. It just looks great. I like the idea that there keeping up the lights too. it makes it look more wintery. They keep Mickey's winter wonderland going after christmas so maybe keeping the lights up is a wintery thing. The characters at the end is a great idea too.

So I guess this is our Anniversary finale. A shame to use the lights for anything other than Christmas, but M+M on the castle is a cool touch for a short time
