Title: Pirates of the Caribbean
Post by: practicallydanny on November 18, 2013, 01:47:23 PM
Hi all we are off to DisneyLand next week and we were wondering if Pirates of the Caribbean is now reopened or not...Any news it is our fave ride and we would be gutted if it was still closed.

Yes as far as I know Pirates of The Caribbean is open. I assume you are asking because of the recent accident. IT reopened the day after. It is always best to check the official calendar http://news.disneylandparis.ie/calendar/index.xhtml# for ecah indivdual days of your visit

I was riding pirates yesterday, so it is definitely open!
Unbelieveably a moron in the boat in front of us stood up as we were passing the dungeon cell scenes just before the drop! There was immediately and announcement over the PA system in French and the boats were stopped until the idiot sat down. He stood up twice more and again was remonstarted with over the pa in French with us all stopped again and then as we approached the end of the ride a child beside him stood up fairly near the place I believe that the recent accident occured.
This raises a few points, why was the message only in French? I have no idea if this guy was French or not
Why do people behave like this and why was the guy not even spoken to at the end of the ride? Several staff members stared hard at him but no one said a word!
I believe that people who behave like this should be escorted from the park and Disney should make sure that the press are aware of the action they should take in this sort of occurence. What do other forum members think?

omg, seriously... you know I can see Disney doing a risk assessment on this and possibly closing the ride and making changes. I can see them putting lap belts to make sure everyone stays seated

and yes why an announcement only in French?? It needs to be in French AND English, which would make more sense.

Maybe the staff don't deal with these "guests" face to face as they are worried about that person kicking off, then the staff have no security to help them cope until one turns up. They probably ain't getting paid enough to deal with idiots like that who want to ruin people's experiences.  :'(

The staff should deal with guests face-to-face. What else are they there for? As soon as the castmembers saw the guy stand up they should have alarmed security to escort the guy out as soon as he exited the boat.

Disney better get on top of this kind of behaviouw before more accidents occur which will give far more bad publicity.

It just goes to show how stupid some people are, what chance has Disney got. I think people like that should be thrown out of the park, but maybe Cms are told not to get into a confrontation with them. It would probably be better to have the warning message in more than one language though and not just French, how many i don't know. In the end they will probably have to have seat belts in the boats or something like that to keep the idiots in.

The guys misbehaving on the day i saw it did not seem to be responding to the French message, nor the English that I shouted at them from my boat! I was all for confronting them myself, but my friend travelling with me counselled common sense! It's these sort of morons that I would guess led to the gates being installed on the Disneyland railroad. God help us!

Actually saw someone filling a water bottle in POTC once inspit of all the signs saying keep your arms inside the boat. Really hope it was just a souvenier and they werent going to drink it.

He probably would have ignored everyone, at least you gave him a telling off which is more than i would have done. I would like to see him fall in the water and get a serious head hurt, that would teach him. But that wouldn't be fair on Disney or anyone else, think of the inconvenience to others.
