Wow, this is really good news.!! =D>
... I was very scared, that the boring Halloween of 2011 was the new tradition.
This gives the hope for a classic and fun Halloween.! :D/
This sounds interesting, although you can never really tell with DLP as they fluff up the smallest of things. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what's really in-store for us this Halloween. Also, it doesn't really sound like Disney Dreams is undergoing any changes, it just seems to mention that the villains appear in the show.
sounds great...though anything would be a major improvement on last years shambles that they called halloween....but it does sound like a little more going on than before we will have to wait and see...
Sounds good! They're trying new things, which is only ever good for an event which has been running the same for so long! I'm a little unnerved at the mention of "orange" on Main Street.. I hope it's not a return of the Pumpkinmen statues!
As for the "malicious" spirits, I wonder if they'll do a similar street show similar to Hong Kong's zombie Main Street?
[youtube:326xo61p]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn5hdH_di5A[/youtube:326xo61p]
Looking forward to seeing Goofy's candy machine! That should be a nice, I'm expecting a float like addition with a few moving parts etc? The only thing I'm a little let down by is the moving of Villains to the Castle Courtyard, I like seeing them roaming in front of Phantom Manor, it feels right for them to be there!
Just need to see if we can get Halloween into Discoveryland now, imagine a Dark Vader takeover..
Quote from: "Scissorsboi"I'm a little unnerved at the mention of "orange" on Main Street.. I hope it's not a return of the Pumpkinmen statues!
I'm thinking (or maybe just hoping) it'll be the replacement of the golden bunting for more seasonal bunting like the US parks use -
(//http://farm1.staticflickr.com/120/256019689_84562c45f0.jpg)
Also, the Goofy's Candy happening instantly reminded me of the float WDW uses at Halloween / Christmas for Goofy's Candy Co -

I agree, I don't think the Villians being in Fantasyland makes sense at all. But it sounds like a huge improvement over last year.
so happy now :D we are going 14th to 19th october and I was a bit worried nothing very halloweeny would be going on!
Now ever more excited then :D
Well it looks like a typical DLRP press release with a lot of talk and not much solid information.
The Disney Villains in Dreams? Already there!
Mickeys party on Castle Stage? Same as last year.
Disney Villains in Castle Courtyard? Wrong place and a very difficult place to view! What happened to a dedicated stage outside Cowboy Cookout? Too expensive?
Jack & Sally outside Phantom Manor? Not as good as when they had their own mausoleum!
So, what we are left with is something orange on main Street and Goofy's candy machine.
Now, all of this could be brilliant and something to look forward to, but after last years fiasco I don't get the impression that this will be any better. I hope I am wrong, but this information will not lure me back for Halloween and this was my favourite time of year which I really used to look forward to.
I think this year is actually going to be a lot better than last year. I still want the Halloween float back though.
In case you haven't heard yet, the Main Street decorations will be inspired by the ghost decorations from Tokyo Disneyland:

Regarding the "old" props (pumpkin men, mausoleum, Bat Stage, ...) these aren't allowed to be used any more because they are not up to the Disney Standard (remember the Pink Witches? :P )

Since when did that bother DLP?
Every creative decision has to be approved by Glendale now.

I second that, that's great news!
Awesome. :D This is making me want to visit at that time of the year.

Thats fantastic news! I really do have high hopes this year for Halloween now.

I like this "traditional" Halloween creation though. If there are some ghosts and stuff, it would be alright for me (I also like the Pumpkinmen), but just thinking back to the time of this Pumpkinmen-tower going from Thunder Mesa-shore to BTM or the "Mummy" Riverboat - that was much to extreme in my opinion. In these years, Frontierland was something completely different, but I think Halloween should just be a meaningful addition and not a complete modification.

I'm happy if every creative decision around Disney Dreams! must be approved by Glendale. Remember what happens on Bastille's Day, when they didn't know how to run any Disney Dreams' fireworks/fountains/projection system.
Hi I am going on Oct 6th (saturday) and just wondered how many times a day Mickey and his surprise party for Halloween was on? Do you need to get a good spot to see it and if so how long should we wait before it starts? How long does it last?
also what is the Goofy candy machine? Is that stationary in one place or moves around? Is it only certain times of day?
Thank you
The party is held on the castle stage and there is plenty of good viewing in front of it, last year it ran several times a day. The candy machine has not been seen in DLRP before, so no one really knows what it is at the moment
Can't wait to see what Disney has to offer! Going on 18th October! I am a bit disappointed about the Pumpkin Men! I understand the props could do with slick of paint or some new ones could have been good! But there really was no need to get rid of them! All they needed was a backstory! Actually, here is my version:
:offtopic: Backstory :offtopic:
Before DLRP was made Thunder Mesa was already standing where Frontierland was along with Fort ____ . Remember Old Joe who sits along the Rivers of the Far West? Well, he had quite a backstory! He was caught up in something called... The Great Pumpkin Robbery! Which happened when Thunder Mesa realised that pumpkins was next best thing for Halloween so a group of bandits from Thunder Mesa Jail were paid if they stole pumpkins from Old Joe who owned a pumpkin farm. But one day Old Joe fighted back! He tried to hit the bandits with a shovel but ended up getting beaten to death! They ignored his pumpkins and took his body back to Thunder Mesa and dumped him in an abandoned shack beside the Rivers of the Far West, they dumped his dog aswell, but they didn't kill the dog! Strange! You can see them today! Continuing with the story... The bandits got extra money for killing him! Thunder Mesa must be selfish of him! So the bandits continued with their job, but! When they returned... The Pumpkins were missing! They were about to head back to Thunder Mesa when a shadow loomed over them, they turned around and there stood a Pumpkin Man! His insides turned red then he let out a shrieking scream! Thunder Mesa residents heard the scream and headed to the farm. But when they arrived all there was, was a pile of money smothered in orange paint! Realising that the bandits were dead they headed back home. But when they came back to Thunder Mesa the town was covered in orange paint!
What do you think?
Oh and does anyone know if the pumpkin men will still be in Main Street? Meeting and Greeting?
Your wish may come true!
Thanks for the reassurence! 8)
Does anyone know if Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be on?
Hi, Mickey's Not So Scary Party isn't on this year :( just the Halloween party on the 31st.
Too much money.
A lot of things are not happening this year due to Dreams sucking up DLP's budget. It's shame no MNSSHP this year but maybe it will be back next year.
I hope the fountains dance to some kind of Halloween Music in the day time.
Remember that if DLP wants to modify something, they must be approved by WDI.
You're right, littlemermaid83, but we now have a Disney-style nighttime show. Sadly, you can have your cake, or you can eat it.
Quote from: "Lorum"You're right, littlemermaid83, but we now have a Disney-style nighttime show. Sadly, you can have your cake, or you can eat it.
So true, we can't have it all. But I'm happy we have Dreams anything else is really a bonus.
Looking forward to see what they will do with the park for Halloween. Pictures should start popping up around the 17th.
Can't wait! :)
No MNSSHP eh? Well this Halloween Festival better be good! Any rumors of the Halloween Parade? Or is that not happening too?
I think they're adding the Villains float back to the parade. :)
That's a start I guess! Hoping they bring back the big monster puppets like the skeleton! ;)
Hey guys, just wondering.
I hope to go back for Halloween night for the evening party - and I was just wondering, would it be alright to get tickets ON the day? Because we hope to get the tickets when we get the day tickets too.
I'm just worried that they'll run out or you can't buy them on the day or something.
Thanks. =]
Hi there, i know for sure that the terrorific nights at the studios sold out last year, im not sure about the halloween party on the 31st, we got our tickets from the disney website prior to going and just printed them out, I would get them before going, could you imagine getting there and they had sold out !!!!!!!!!!
I was just reading this text at the ticked service on the Disney website:
QuoteHalloween is taking over Disneyland® Park for the darkest night of the year! As soon as the sun sets, the magic kingdom becomes marvellously menacing... Amidst the eerie moonlight, ghosts and ghouls and Disney Villains invite mere mortals to join them in a spook-tacular feast of devilish antics!
Dare to explore... but keep up your guard up as you unravel the mysteries of this wickedly wonderful programme where hair-raising entertainment lurks 'round every corner of the Park! Brace yourself for uncanny encounters with the most wretched villains throughout this astonishing evening!
Enjoy the Disney Fantillusion night parade and then ride the attractions to get your energy back before attending Disney Dreams®! sound & light show!
So grab your disguise and book your tickets today because space is limited and the witching hour won't wait!
1 night only: October 31st 2012, from 9pm to 1am. Entry to the Park begins at 5pm for valid evening ticketholders. Access to the Disneyland® Park
It looks like there will be no special show at the end of the night like all previous years, only the Disney Dreams show. I wonder if they do a special Halloween version of Disney Dreams?
Without the Central Plaza stage, We are missing a lot of entertainment this Halloween :(
There will be no special version of Disney Dreams for Halloween or Christmas.
Every park is emerging except DLP.

I think you spoke to soon. ;) Frontierland is getting the same decorations as Main Street, except that they're also getting the pumpkin men! :(
Static props like these always look odd to me, but it's better than what we usually get. (Except the one in the first photo. I don't know what's happened there!)

I know everyone has there opinions, but to me: I'm glad! I loved the pumpkin men when I was little'n! Are there meet 'n' greet pumpkin men? Or is it just statues? And also when we're these photos taken?
And also that man who was in charge of the Halloween Festival, I thought he got rid of the pumpkin men for this year! Why did he keep them?
These look like new and better quality Pumpkinmen though, and they fit the area specifically. I love them as characters, and the tradition of them being in the park seem to be popular with guests too, so as long as they stay in Frontierland, and don't completely take it over like they have in the past (that's when they start to look cheap) then I'm more than happy to see them back.
Would be even better if they got a dedicated meet and greet somewhere in the town for the parade characters to hang around!
I like the pumpkin men

I was talking about emerging, not decorating. I like those photos, but we have to wait a bit more until they've completely finished decorating.
So maybe the plan is now ghosts in Main Street and pumpkin men in Frontierland? I think that'd work quite well.
Quote from: "Lorum"I was talking about emerging, not decorating.
Oh, do you mean the hype and advertising emerging?
One question I should ask that I have been wondering about, I've read about the characters going trick or treating, does this mean they go round giving sweets out?
I think that's referring to their trick-or-treating show on the Castle Stage. :)
Also, here come the ghosts! :D (And pumpkins!)

I know a few of you are asking about Goofys candy thing and Im assuming it will be the same if not a similar thing to WDW. We went for Halloween a few years ago and they had the evening Halloween parade and inbetween the floats was Goofy riding a large bicycle contraption with sweets in it and it said "Goofys Candy Co." on the side and there were cast members walking beside it with buckets of sweets and handing them out to everyone.
Looks like they have it at Christmas aswell (//http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7165/6439596415_e6a8bf0118_z.jpg)
I'm loving the new decorations, it's great having the two different themes (ghosts and pumpkin men) in the 2 different lands, it works so much better than pumpkins everywhere!!
I can't wait to see these for myself this Sunday :D
never2old, you have fun, do everything you wish to do, have beautiful meals, build wonderful memories, share it all with the people you're going with!! and then come back and tell us all about it!
I'm going in October also (can't wait!!) and i think its going to be really cool to see all the decorations! I am a little concerned if the kids (5 and almost 2) won't be afraid...
This is a show, and not "It's party time with Mickey and Friends".

I know I'm always full of derogatory comments, but you can't deny we've never had a show like this. DLP doesn't know how to do it. That's all.
However, I think this year they're learning something from the Americans and Japanese, and I really like the ghosts decorations.
Quote from: "Lorum"I know I'm always full of derogatory comments, but you can't deny we've never had a show like this. DLP doesn't know how to do it. That's all.
If another park does it, then it is not a question of know-how. In Paris it's a question of money, as always. They either haven't got the money to spend, or think that spending on a show won't get enough of a return.
Do Europeans really care about
that much about Halloween? Obviously it's a huge thing in the US and the Japanese would naturally be attracted to that sort of kitch, but in Europe I think they'd probably be better off saving the big money (if they had any) for Christmas. I'm going for the first time in Halloween season in 3 weeks (school holiday/40% off combination) but the idea of everything being over the top Halloween is putting me off more than attracting me. I can put up with the odd pumpkin, but don't much like the idea of everything being covered in spider-webs and turned "spooky". I'd much rather they didn't!

Would this Halloween scene at DLP a few years ago be over the top for you ? Hard to describe isn't it.
I don't know about you guys that are going, but I can not wait!
Is anyone else going on the 31st?
I was'nt going after last years debacle, but looking at those Main Street decorations I think I might pass on my Christmas trip and go for Halloween. I will watch out for more photographs posted showing Main Street before making up my mind!
Loving the look of the decorations this year. Although I think there are a bit too many ghosts, especially at the Town Square gazebo. They're a nice addition otherwise. Some variety would be nice, like some scarecrows they use in the US. I also think the golden garlands should have been replaced with the autumnal-coloured ones they use across the Atlantic in Orlando and Cali.

I'm off tomorrow, cannot wait!!
I must say that I really like the new Halloween decorations!
Wow, I'm really loving these new decorations for Main Street. The gazebo looks amazing and such a massive improvement since last year's event. I think the ghosts fit in really nicely too. Halloween is one of my favourite events and I'm glad to see Paris is giving it a lot of attention again.
Oh my gosh! This going to be great! Great camera angles! I cannot wait for my trip! See Below!
Disneyland Paris just released this video with Kat de Blois, Entertainment Creative Director, introducing this year's Halloween celebrations.
[youtube:1vkupwqv]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TImTV2jVwgM[/youtube:1vkupwqv]
That's a great little video. She said they worked with musicians, does this mean a new Halloween song is on it's way?
I just found this video on youtube:
[youtube:1i7o5vq0]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzlapHSgUMM[/youtube:1i7o5vq0]
After seeing this, I thin we are missing many, many thinks in Disneyland Paris... wow what a show!!!
... ok the music is the same as all the shows of the past years, but this specacular..!!! =D>
I don't remember seeing a photo of Goofy's Bon Bon machine, so here is one!(//http://i767.photobucket.com/albums/xx319/PeteHawke/P72.jpg)
Is the Halloween firework show an extension to the dream show or is it replacing it - because I would like to see both while I am there? Or are they just alternating days? Thanks
I just came back from my Halloween trip yesterday! Disney Dreams was spectacular although I kept choking on smoking and 2 girls thought it was ok to trample onto the pumpkins and kept screaming during the show! But apart from that, it was MAGIC there were villains, like Dr Facilier AKA the Shadow Man but I don't know if he was there during Summer Time if so then Dreams hasn't really changed for Halloween.
wow seems like you had a great trip - glad you had a good time :D
Cannot wait till I go now!
