Did Disney already release some plans about the festivities on April 12th? I guess there will be some small events on that day, but I couldn't find any good informations either here nor somewhere else.
In the morning there will be a "flashmob" , Disney has send a litlle press release on that . Nothing else reported but there probably be alot of Characters etc...
Thanks for the info, Glstitch. I guess it will be a regular day with the exception that it's the 20th birthday.
I will still be there on the 12th so I'll search for anything intresting. Maybe DLP will suprise us, for everyone who's not going I will post videos in this topic ;)
If you're really lucky Peter Andre might come back and sing!!
no.....please no....I was looking forward to it but now?????
Quote from: "bensmum"no.....please no....I was looking forward to it but now?????
Like a friend of mine would say "Hakuna Matta"! That's the only thing they've released , not the only thing they're gonna do ;)
New music, new parade, new night time spectacular, revamped train (OK, not all so great) and Main St in celebration - that's quite a lot of exciting stuff to experience on April 1st, and every day after that thankfully. Anything else will pale in comparison to Dreams, I'd expect.
Andre's website says he is the "face of the 20th anniversary". URGH. Luckilly, only Channel 5 viewers get to see it. That's like, 10 people.
The programme has been confirmed!

Imagineer Tony Baxter is going a presentation on how they made the park!!!! :D Now I really wish I could go for my 18th birthday on the 12th! My only chance, now, is winning the lottery. :( I hope someone can record the presentation.
Interesting that dreams is 15 minutes after park close. I imagine that will mislead a lot of people...will also mean people cant go to their hotels and turn up 15 minutes of less before dreams starts... :?
That sure looks interesting. Though the dreams 15 minutes after closing time seems odd. This is the standard and amount of entertainment other Disney Parks have, it's quite sad we only get so much one day out of the year, unless this is what we can expect from a daily schedule?
Meph, thanks a lot for the link!!!

Peter Andre is the face of the 20th Anniversary? I just nearly choked on my glass of milk. Are they insane?????
Ok just looking at the schedule do you think these new meet and greets will be a all year round thing. Kyra would be so excited to see Angel again.
Quote from: "GrantR"Andre's website says he is the "face of the 20th anniversary".
I'm sure I read he's only the face of a campaign on Channel 5, not necessarily the whole 20th Anniversary.

I sure hope so, I'd love to see Angel out more often too.
Oh. Apparently the presentation with Tony Baxter isn't confirmed yet. I've got my fingers crossed, though.
I'm really quite excited that the Gazebo will be put into such good use! I have ideas about what they are doing for Main Street Celebrates. I'm also SO excited to see that each of the other lands has a Celebrates show too! How comes no one has picked up on this yet!? I wonder if these extra shows will be for the 12th only...

Does anyone know if the meet & greets will be organized ones or scrums?
Yay, I like the sound of character events and special meet n' greets on the day. Looking forward to it! :D
The programme of events is still unconfirmed. We received a short message about it today, here's an excerpt:
QuoteRecently a blog posted a complete work-in-progress agenda about the festivities for our anniversary day, April 12th.
This program shouldn't have come out. It was an internal program, still being worked on. No informations on it is guaranteed, be it the characters, times, and some elements of the agenda.
Our teams are working hard to make it an unforgettable day, and we will communicate on it, at the appropriate time and when we'll be able to share confirmed things.
So don't take this as the final, confirmed programme.
It's great that Dlp is communicating with fans more, could this mean they do read the blogs/forums after all?
Quote from: "15MagicalYears"It's great that Dlp is communicating with fans more, could this mean they do read the blogs/forums after all?
Believe me , they do ;)
I thought so. I guess I'm only really interested in the presentation. It really would make my day if Tony Baxter really was doing a presentation in the park. Not many people can say they saw an imagineer on their 18th birthday. XD
It's nice to see DLP communicating with its fans.
Quote from: "Josh"Not many people can say they saw an imagineer on their 18th birthday. XD
Nice to know there's someone else on these forums the same age as myself! 8)
I never noticed you were the same age. XD
Now this is exciting:

DLP has announced officially that legendary Imagineer Tony Baxter who was Disneyland Paris main show producer back 20 years ago will be at Discoveryland Videopolis on April 12 - date of DLP 20th - for a one hour master class.
Source (//http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2012/03/dlp-20th-ann-master-class-with-tony.html)
I'm really glad it's confirmed!! :D When does everyone think the best time to start going to Videopolis is?
To be honest, Videopolis is quite big and a lot of visitors don't have the same level of interest as us on this forum. I went on the 13day Disney cruise out of Barcelona last year and we had two presentations by an imagineer, whose name escapes me, and the audience was about 30 out of 1200 passengers! I'm looking forward to hearing this guy, I hope there will be a Q&A session!!
Any news ?
From the official Disneyland Paris twitter :
Get-together on #12April for our birthday! Don't miss this very special day which will be full of surprises ! Follow us for more info #dlp20

Flashmob and Tony Baxter are officially confirmed... nobody's intrested ?
I'm interested! XD But it was already officially confirmed, according to Alain; I don't know where he got this "official announcement", though. It seems strange that they're just announcing this on Twitter. I guess they know it's just us fans that are interested.
Also, did you notice that there's not going to be a Q&A session at the end? It looks like we have to send our questions to the DLP ambassadors on Facebook.
But I can't wait. I'm still worried about how soon I should queue up for Tony Baxter's presentation. My plan, at the moment, is to: get in the park by 9:15 to see the opening ceremony; then watch the flash mob; then rush over to a Main Street shop that's selling the limited t-shirt being sold on that day only, then rush over to Videopolis. If there's nothing going on in the afternoon, then I guess it'll be a normal day. In the evening, we might book one of these special meals for watching Dreams; as long as the menu looks alright.
Quote from: "Glstitch"Flashmob and Tony Baxter are officially confirmed... nobody's intrested ?
Probably they are but because the events were confirmed so late, very few people here can go. If you can't just hop on an RER train it's very difficult and incredibly expensive to book a last minute trip in the middle of Easter.
Pre-selecting the questions is probably a good thing. Hopefully they'll be able to pick a good mix and get some good answers from him. One hour isn't very long, so the more they can fit in the better.
I really hope the book goes on sale that day...
Is this the book that's going on sale in the resort for approx €50? I'd love this, I'm hoping to get it when I go in June. Is it a limited edition though? It's not likely to sell out by then or anything is it??

Yes that's the one. Apparently the first print run is 5000. Very hard to know how long that'll last...

I was there, but because we just had day admission tickets, we were all shut back behind the gates, so couldnt see anything, just hear it! I heard the planes but had no idea that was what they were doing! Wish we could have seen it now!
It was not open for every guest?
In my opinon, the two planes created a sort of Mickey's Ears instead of the number 20....
No, we were kept back behind the gates util 10.00am - kind of frustrating as you could see something was going on, and could hear it, but that was all. Shame really. When they did open the gates it was all finishing and everyone moving off, but we were ushered down the arcade to the side of main street.
Personally I thought the Flash-mob was an amazing idea, when I first heard of it I sort of rolled my eyes. But wow, it was spectacular! Got me a bit emotional, to be honest.

I was in the same situation, but we were hotel guests. I found out the next day, during our guided tour, why it happened. Town Square was only designed to contain about 2000 people, so they only let that amount of people in. I wanted to arrive early, as well, but I was held up, because I wanted to buy the 20th anniversary t-shirt from our hotel's shop, and we went to Earl of Sandwich to get breakfast. XD
When we finally got in, the opening ceremony was just ending, and everyone coming in was being directed through the arcades. When I got to the end of the Discovery Arcade, the flashmob was underway, and we saw everyone walking through it. We felt quite left out. :(
I was standing on Town Squere and they counted the people who where entering , not long after us they closed the line and no one could get in. But we also didin't see the flashmob (exept on huge screens). The planes were incredible right above us ! that really gave us a wow-feeling !
I've got everything on video , to begin with : Main Street USA Celebrates !

It was strange how they let people into the ceremony. After going through security (with only the WDS gate open, perhaps to avoid the small group of strikers) and then walking back around to DLP, there was a short queue and we were just asked at the barrier "for the ceremony?" and then let through. It seemed like some people were being turned back, but I don't know what their situation was. That was about 8.55am.
Anyway, here's a whole 22 minutes of video from the ceremony and flashmob, including the walk along the carpet:

I really liked the idea of each land celebrates, but the "show" area in Adventureland (Colonel Hathi's) and Fantasyland (by the sword ceremony behind the castle) were totally unsuitable for the number of people who wanted to watch and was a shambles in my mind. And once again we had a perfectly usable stage (Castle stage) unused throughout the day!

I agree with you on the Adventurland part but I didn't have te feeling there was a problem with Fantasyland. Due Main Street USA Celebrates ! changed , during its first preformance the place where the dancers came was smaller and the characters past by almost all the guest , just before the second one everyone needed to back up at least 5 meter and nobody could take decent pictures or had a chance of seeing the characters upclose...

It was a shame because the Adventureland show could have been fantastic. The characters mixed with the great live singers reminded me of Minnie's Fly Girls at DCA. If only there was a more practical place for it to be performed, I'd love that to be a permanent bit of streetmosphere. But on the day, it was impossible to watch unless you'd arrived well over half an hour in advance. It created a terrible bottleneck with people trying to get past to Indy.
Fantasyland Celebrates was the weakest show in my opinion (though we missed Discoveryland), despite having all seven dwarfs and the live fanfare band. All the banners and hanging baskets, lovely as they looked, completely blocked the view. As did a group of "VIPs" who suddenly arrived before the show and were given a roped-off area at the front.
I heard the character events were actually something to do with Prince Alwaleed visiting the park, is that true? It was a bit annoying to have this rather bored looking group standing there in their expensive sunglasses, also blocking the view for a woman in wheelchair in front of me who had been on the front row (and ended up leaving a few minutes into the show). So much for this being a day for the fans...
Frontierland was brilliant, awesome live band, characters and dancers. Would love that event the return in future. Again I was amazed by the size of the audience, filling out the entire area in front of Cowboy Cookout.
Main Street was basically the old Mary Poppins show with new costumes and the (unfortunately nails-on-a-blackboard) arrival of Duffy's French voice. Please let
that be a one-off.
One thing that really stood out were the simple, fitting decorations and banners for each show. After years of tack (particularly with Halloween), DLP has finally proved that it can do things tastefully and in tune with the lands.
Now, how many people here actually managed to get the limited 12th April pin?
Quote from: "Anthony"Now, how many people here actually managed to get the limited 12th April pin?
Yeah, I read about a lot of problems with it and stuff, so would be fun to hear. I actually wanted to buy it off eBay, but after hearing the problems for the people who had been there, I don't really want to buy it anymore. Considering the people who were seen leaving with 5-6 pins are probably the ones spinning gold on them right now. They should have limited the sale to one shop and then one pin per ticket.
The events were organised and payed by the prince , besides the flashmob. Discoveryland Celebrates was quite nice aswell it's my number two of the day.
I don't agree that Fantasyland was not a problem, we had a very poor view at the show we attended at 1600 and we were surrounded by parents complaining about the small viewing area. I saw the show in Discoveryland in the morning (12.00) and I enjoyed it but you will see in the photo below that Angel was holding her eye and left the show shortly afterwards, was this a strange part of the show? Or had she actually been hurt I wonder?(//http://i767.photobucket.com/albums/xx319/PeteHawke/S97.jpg)

Simple but entertaining. I think that's actually one of the best small shows I've seen in the parks.
Oh so jealous!! I still dream about seeing all the dwarfs!!
Showed Lara the picture from the celeration in Discoveryland. She almost startet walking there seeing Angel in The picture!! ;) ;)

Adventureland Celebrates! This is not a great video by any means due to the impractical location (creating a single-file bottleneck, apparently over my feet, towards Indy), which is a shame because the show was awesome.
[youtube:2q95l1sh]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjfQPphxEV4[/youtube:2q95l1sh]
I'm biased as a Jungle Book fan, but again I think it might be one of the best smaller shows I've ever seen at the park. Simple but well produced, entertaining and doesn't overstay its welcome. It reminds me a lot of the Minnie's Fly Girls streetmosphere show at DCA, only purely musical. The fact they could get together and rehearse this vocal group just for a single day of performances is quite startling. Has Disneyland Paris showed itself up on April 12th for the kind of entertainment it should be offering every week?
I agree with your comment, Anthony. When we saw these shows last week we were over the moon, then we gathered our thoughts together and decided that this is what entertainment at DLRP should be like all the time! We are still buzzing from last week's visit and it is a long time since we felt like this after a visit!

Yes, I would encourage everyone to do this... if they get enough positive feedback about everything on the 12th there is a chance some of these shows could become a more regular feature
Does anyone have the address you would recommend sending this letter?
Having just watched Frontierland and Adventure Celebrates, I don't understand why these cant be daily shows. I thought the Frontierland show was fantastic, live country music and dancing.
There really isn't any live entertainment in the parks at the moment, if we are not including the parade, dreams and the 20th train.
