I've just noticed in the Winter brochure that the resort map has been updated.
http://www.disneylandparis.com/BROCHURE ... /appli.htm (http://www.disneylandparis.com/BROCHURE/WINTER11/E/catalogue/appli.htm%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;) (page 46)
Now it doesn't look as though the Disneyland Park is sticking outside of the area. :)
The cover is quite lush and magical, but I still don't like the fact they focus on little girls. What message does that cover give out? I look at it and think, Disneyland is just for little girls. Where's the family enjoying the experience together? Where are the teenagers? Where are the young couples?

Hey Clint is still on the billboard at the Santa Fe Hotel
Does that mean, he is comin back or is it just the usual Disney and their homework thing ;)
I think the brochure is mainly just for getting the kids excited. But yes, putting a child on the cover gives a bad impression.
In my opinion it is just another cheap brochure, like in the years before. I really miss the brochures from the 90ies and early 2000s. Back then the brochure focused on the park, on the lands and on the attractions. Now it's just about children.
The map looks fine and for Clint, I'm afraid that he will not return. Stupid Cars poster!!!
I hate the cover, the child face looks so fake and forced. Imo she looks like shes seen something she rather wouldn't of seen lol.

But do kids get excited by seeing kids getting excited? It's like Disney are forcing a reaction on you. They don't need to show us (well, kids) how you're supposed to react to Disneyland. If they have confidence in their park, and they're certain it will make kids happy, then they should put their product first (e.g. the castle) not a picture showing you how you (again, kids) should react.
Imagine if the poster for the movie Tangled was simply a photo of a kid
reacting to Tangled. It wouldn't tell you anything about the story, or the characters, or the environments in the film. Crazy idea, isn't it, but that's exactly how they attempt to sell Disneyland Paris.
Disneyland Park doesn't need to be tarted up in Photoshop, or artificially made to look better for marketing reasons. The park has built-in magic. It sells itself. Just look at this in-camera shot of Sleeping Beauty Castle:

Exactly. I know it is not the same, but the Europa Park brochures show off the rides, theming, shows, restaurants and hotels and make you want to go. DLP used to do this. In the early years, there were spreads of two pages per land and about 5 pages dedicated to the studios. It made you want to go.
Now DLP seems to be aimed at either little kids (so the uninitiated think it is legoland) or us addicted folks who would go with no advertising at all.
I really wonder what happened to the advertising department. I don't know how their new brochures convince anyone to visit DLRP. My favorite DLRP brochures are not the official ones. Over here other tourist companies did their own brochure which focused even more on the lands and rides than the official ones during the 90ies.
Back then they had the big attractions on the cover. Each land in DLP had its own double page and all major attractions were discribed. Now each page is a bad photoshop picture with smiling kids.

I was talking to a friend about our upcoming trip and she said she would love to take her 6 year old son, but there was no point as it's all about the princesses and there was nothing there for boys so she would wait until her daughter was old enough. This brochure does nothing to dispell that myth. It's so frustrating
Really!? :o Wow. That is bad. They really need to get their act together.
for such a beautiful park, it features very Little in the brochure
Whilst it true thier advertising doesn't show of the park or appeal to a broad-enough audience, I have to say I love the direction that the design has taken. I love the graphics and colours, and the colours they are using. They all look very professional, modern, and ultimatly, magical.
First I thought, that brochure is not that bad. What`s wrong with a laughing child... But flipping throu it I thought, that is just too much. Looking at it as someone who has never been there, I think it would not tell me really what DLP is .
My two cents on this

The kids face look rather scary if you ask me.

Not so much a brochure, rather a collection of differnt coloured double page adverts, and bad adverts at that. Very dissapointed
This might be my least favourite brochure to date, and that's saying something.
Particularly bad are the titles for each section with one word picked out in swirly serif typeface. Ugly and desperate. Like restaurants that produce their menus in indecipherable swirly fonts just to seem "classier" when really they're serving up egg and chips. It actually ends up making the resort look less classy than it really is, to me. Page 19 "Thrilling Moments" is a good example where you've got serif and sans-serif, two different colours and both bold and regular typefaces all within the same headline. Just horrible.
By the way - has anyone actually managed to receive a DLP brochure by post recently? I ordered one weeks ago and nothing. They didn't seem to care when I emailed about it, just pointed me back to the order page like I was thick.

Although this applied for the spring/summer brochure, I tried a few times ordering it from the Dutch website and waited for weeks and it didn't show up. Ended up going to a nearby travel agency to pick one up - got sick and tired of the no-showing.
Ordering the brochure from the German or Austrian website doesn't work, too. In fact it doesn't work since the new website is online.

Yes, we had problems as well. My Granddad managed to find it in a travel agent.
I think the delay was caused by an erratum that was made to it, because there was a mistake with the dates of an event (I can't remember what it was, sorry). The erratum was on a little pieces of paper between two of the pages.
I got the brochure at a little independant travel agents, but when I went to book at Going Places yesterday, they still had the old brochure. To be honest, its not very informative. It looks pretty, but does nothing to advertise the park in my opinion.
Ah thats ok thanks for both your input i still cant get it i just like to look at it (geeky i know)
Thanks
It's not geeky, I have nearly read the print of it! That's what is so frustrating about the brochure, I love to read every tiny bit of detail over and over again, planning what I will do when I get there, where I will eat etc. But this brochure has no information at all in my opinion. If someone was looking through the brochure, planning their first trip to Disney, they would have no real clue what is on offer, unless they come across sights like this, until they actually arrive at the resort!
What you need is a page with the park maps, a page actually giving some idea of what food is available, what kind of extra attractions and shows are available during summer, or Christmas, or Halloween. They also really need to show less 8 year olds and more young and old couples, to show dlp is for everyone

Yes! That sums it up perfectly!
totally agree!

It's interesting you raised this. The last time I was at DLP was 14 years ago and I'm going again this year over the Xmas period. I was looking forward to seeing what had changed, what activities there were and information to plan out our two days there. Plus, I really wanted to know what I should expect over the Xmas months from DLP. It starts on Nov 7th but I'm not exactly sure exactly
what starts. I thought the brochure would make DLP look like an 'experience'. After reading the brochure I almost felt like I didn't want to go anymore- too much pink? I saw lots of drawings of characters which did not provide me with any information and I really don't think pages of little girls doing impressions of Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' helped matters either.
This brochure wasn't really aimed at adults/families but aimed solely at kids (girls more so), and patronizingly so. Perhaps I was an odd child but I always knew when someone was desperately trying to sell me something.
I think this brochure should include: parade info, rides and what to expect from attractions, more information about the hotels, the dining experience, what happens in the Disney village, information regarding the various shopping and also appeal to as many demographics as possible. I think you can advertise by appealing to the child within each of us rather than aim specifically at children. That way you catch the adults, families, older adults, children, gay and heterosexual couples. Everyone finds something. A good brochure sells the city/town/resort/country/journey in terms of an essence so you get more of a global idea of where you're going and what you want to see or do. Mind you, I find the DLP video trailers much more impressive than the WDW and Disneyland ones in the US. I have found this site far more useful and exciting than official stuff. But hey, their marketing people probably know exactly what they're doing even if I don't.
I agree with everything you said. If they just looked at other brochures, they might learn something
i just love reading the brochure as i always go at christmas and reading about the lighting of the tree the lights and music on main street the lighting of the castle (gets to me everytime!) and thats what i look forward to my trip starts when i open the brochure! from comments ive seen ill be disappointed when i eventually get a brochure!!

Thanks for the replies about getting hold of a copy. I have emailed DLP (again), but I guess I'll just slink into a travel agents at some point. I really only want a copy for my memorabilia collection, so we can hopefully one day look and say "yeah, that's when DLP brochures weren't very good". (Or perhaps more likely "yeah, that's when DLP made brochures, rather than tablet computer apps", or whatever :) )
Maybe someone who works on the website is deliberately sabotaging orders for copies of the brochure, so that potential visitors aren't put off booking?
Does anyone know how the DLP Brochures compare to the WDW and DLR Brochures?
There's still a few smiling children with the characters, but it's much more informative.

That's the UK edition, though. I'm not sure about the US version.
well ive finally managed to get a winter brochure there i was getting more and more excited about the new meet and greets and thinking about seeing all the refurbishments in their glory and get to the part about christmas and can quite safely say i felt like someone had stuck a pin in my balloon. where is all the stuff about the tree lighting ceremony the lighting of the castle and my beloved fantillusion. Very displeased!!!

And note the lack of stifling photoshopped images on each page. Just fresh, colourful
photographs.
That brochure also shows how the DLP version is so much longer than it needs to be, with those pointless (and often plain ugly) introduction double-pages for each section. Walt Disney World has twice the number of parks but half the number of pages in its brochure. They could cut about half the pages from DLP's brochure and still give a better overview and more information.
I noticed that, too. Considering how long it is, it's not very helpful. XD
When did they start using this new style? Was it when they had the New Generation Festival?
