Are there any details on how long this is scheduled to last for?

Here's the artwork of the new colour scheme. The whole refurb and repainting will take approximately 4,5 months!

Interesting. I don't really see why they chose to change the color scheme, but the new one isn't bad. Perhaps an earthier palette is somehow more appetizing? I'm sure there's a psychology behind it somehow.

One thing I've always regretted though is how "Walt's — An American Restaurant" with that gorgeous typography became "Walt's Restaurant." Presumably in an attempt to make it clearer to European guests that they may expect a gourmet restaurant and not a glorified burger joint. But I suppose that's not being changed.

Oh no! I guess this refurb would completely defeat the point of booking to eat at Walt's during parade time? The restaurant is still open right?

I hope they put a nice themed tarp over that, we're going next weekend and it's annoying enough that the castle is covered up  :(

I'm sure we'll see a themed tarp soon. Have we heard any rumours on when this will be?

We go in July and I had planned to have mine and my husbands 40th birthday meal and cake at Walts whilst watching the parade. Gutted

Is everything going to be under tarp this summer? I always go at summer because I know all of the rides will not be scheduled for refurbishment and all things will be maintenance free.

Is this not the case for this summer?

Well there will be the Pirate Ship definitely, Walt's only if this refurbishment takes a very long time, perhaps Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlour depending when they start that. Castle might be uncovered by July. Nothing will be closed for refurbishment over the summer. So no, you won't walk in to find a whole park of decorative scrims.

Someone was asking in the planning forum if you can see out of the windows. I'm guessing that you can't? :)

Would someone answer this question for me?

a) is the outside of Walt's restaurant still being refurbished, and if so:
b) is it therefore not possible to look out of the window and see the parade whilst dining?

I was hoping to dine there on August 31st, during parade time... But I will choose another restaurant and dinner time if the above is true. Would someone please tell me, so I can make my choice (and reservation).  [-o<

I wasn't inside on my trip two weeks ago, but from what I could see from the outside it will be impossible to look out on Main Street through the scaffolding from inside the restaurant.

BUT, I haven't been inside so I cannot say for sure..

We ate at Walts on 18th July and can confirm you could not see out the window onto Main Street, however, there was a limited view out the window onto one of the side streets. TBH the food was so good it didn't matter.

We ate at Walt's on Saturday 20th August and looked out over Main Street (above Lilly's boutique). It was fabulous to watch the building lights come on and the gas lanterns.

Fabulous news! Do you remember which room it was you dined in (themed to which land)? Perhaps I can make a reservation for a specific room... :)

Update: there are a couple of rooms with a view over Main Street (above Lilly's Boutique and such...). Despite specifically requesting this during reservation three days in advance, and reiterating this on the very morning (seeing the request written besides my name on the screen), we lucked out on a table with a view during parade time. Having your request in writing well in advance guarantees you nothing in this restaurant, unfortunately.

So we opted for viewing the parade outside and having a snack somewhere else afterward. 'Cause really, it's not the food that's special at Walt's - it's the experience. ;)
