So what was the problem with the floor?
The floor outside the Studios is horrific, yet they leave that for years and years?
It looks like Pizzeria Belle Notte is closed. This is our favorite lunch time spot. Does anyone know when it is closed until? We go mid March.

If I remember correctly last February the floor already had many holes. So I think there are more now and it is necessary now.
Do you mean the floor in front of Studio 1? The red tiles were already broken last year. Disney didn't fix them until today? That's really bad.

I think the potholes are getting so bad here that it's shaking the parade floats to bits
The floor outside the turnstiles to the Studios really is ridiculous though, I mean REALLY ridiculous.
Do we know how long the works are going on for?
I assume they are doing the whole area rather than patching up areas, which they have done previously overnight, with the relevant areas covered whilst it was setting.
At least the method they use for flooring is one of the quickest. Pattern imprint concrete is relatively quick.
One day, they will have to relay at least some of Main Street - that will be fun!
The old concrete around the two turrets has been removed:

Well Small World is closed until 28th Jan... that should give a rough idea (unless they are carrying out maintenance on Small world too)
Concrete has been dropped in favour of real paving!
Take a look at the new floor outside the Bureau Passeport Annuel:

I have to say that I like the new floor. Are you sure they used the stones for the whole Fantasyland Floor? I think, but I could be wrong, that the stones are just in the area of the Passport Center.
Hmmn, I hadn't thought of that. :-k This area outide the passport office was concrete before though, right?
I think they've realised that the floor on Main Street has lasted much better over the past 18 years than the concrete, so they might be thinking that this is a better long term solution?

I also think that such stones are the better solution. It seems they last longer. You just have to look at ancient Roman streets :D  . Main Street will still be there in 2000 years, while the rest is gone.

That's really great news. It's always positive to see Disney not only refurbishing Disneyland Park, but actually upgrading the quality of the materials used.
Why did they re-do that little floor area outside the passport office?
It's probably better to do it all now than have to disrupt the parade again in the future?
But they're not doing it all though, it is just a small random patch outside the passport office. There's alot more floor in between this and Fantasyland.
*Update*
The new "paved" floor is continuing at least as far as the two turrets at the entrance to Fantasyland!

Although I prefer the look of the colored concrete, this will indeed stand the test of time far better. So there's a complaint less in 2015!
Has anyone seen the state of the concrete floor in the Esplanade, by the way? Between the World of Disney site and the Studios. Suffices to say that's why we should be happy about these pavers.
For the fantasyland floor: I think they should mix it a bit. I liked the old floor. But after some years of business he looked very tacky (not only because of the parade route but also because manye "Service ways" and heavy service carts with CMs that doesn´t really care about the floor (and why should they? It´s a working place) seems to damaged it so much.
The new floor is also OK for me but I think a mix of both would be great for the fantasyland theme and a good bridge between main street and the fantasyland gate.
For the floors in the esplanade, in front of WDS entrance (not at the center but on the right and on the left of it) it´s over the time to replace it. I don´t get why they start a new floor concept just in front of WDS main entrance but haven´t done something to the floor areas around it. The parts where they made it new are great. You can see that you also can get the same nice touches with real paving. I only can hope that they fix also the problems between the parks and in the whole resort area. In front of the WDS "box offices" the floor is dangerous. Not nice if you wanna buy a ticket to the "studio of dreams".
The floor in the esplanade is really in a terrible state. Hopefully they will replace it for the 20th birthday. Maybe it is done with the construction of WoDS.
I like the new floor in front of Fantasyland. I think they will stop at the entrance gate to use these stones maybe Disney will use regular colored concrete for the floors inside Fantasyland. Hopefully, like Riebi already said, Disney will mix the designs of the floors like they did when DLP was built.
I get the feeling the brick work will continue all the way along the Parade route, makes sense really. I think it looks better than the concrete floor.
Definitely not stopping at the entrance... here are some picture I took a few days ago...

Thanks for the photos. These builders are getting the job done very rapidly. They should get them to do the roadworks on the M6!
I really like how the bricks wrap around the castle's wall.
Looking good Disney....!

Thanks for the pictures!
The wall around Fantasyland and the towers at the entrance need a fresh color, too.
It looks like they still have quite a bit to go, but they're making great progress.
Sorry to double post, but is this finished now? I think I remember reading somewhere that it would be done at the start of the month (and it did look last week as though they were just doing the final touches). :)
Yeh, it's all finished. They've moved around to doing other floor's in Fantasyland now :)

Massive improvement!
What an improvement. Now Disney just has to refurb the Pizzeria Bella Notte building and the whole area will look fantastic again.
Does anyone know if the mosaic flooring outside Bella Notte has remained? I hope it has...
Now, will they power wash these like they used to?
Its looking great! Its little things like this that improve the experience no end.
Wow, what improvement! Nice to see them use more than one design too!
Yeah it's a vast improvment. But couldn't they have squeezed a hidden Mickey in somewhere :?
There are loads of them - just heavily pixelated! ;)

It would have been very cool if they did that, actually. Especially those manhole covers ;-)
More Fantasyland Floorwork has begun!

It looks like work is finishing off, because the benches are coming back.
In my opinion it looks better with less benches. The area feels more open, like a place to relax a bit. Since the stage will never be used for bigger productions, I think it's okay that most benches are gone. People can stand in front of the Cantral Plaza Stage while watching a show and so people can also stay when watching a show on the castle stage.
And it will be a lot easier for the CMs to control that area during parades.

what shows will be here in summer? on the stage. i use to love the one thay did years ago probs about 1997. when they had all the different characters, doing a little dance from all their movies. cant we have something like that again?
There aren't any shows actually on the stage, and won't be over summer. The closest you'll get is the Disney Dance Express (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10407) performing just in front of the stage.
I think everyone would love something like Le Livre Magique de Mickey (the show you probably remember) again!
