According to DisneyCentralPlaza and the Disney Casting website, the return of Tarzan: The Encounter comes this summer. The show will possibly run from May to September 2011.
I've never seen it, so I'm looking forward to this. =]
"From what I have read on other forums it should be starting the 7th July - as that's when the summer season starts.
Not 100% sure - that's just from what I've read. "
Oh my gosh, this is great news!!! I hope it's true!! :D
Oh, no matter if it is reuse, lets hope with all our hearts that this is true... It's been sad with two summers without proper Chaparral Entertainment (Goofys Camp - I know, but well you know)!
A return of Tarzan would be more than welcome!
There official facebook just posted its return :D
Great news. This is a fantastic show. Now bring back Mulan.
Brilliant news! Just hope it will be on beginning of June!
Great news! Hopefully that's just the beginning and we will see more entertainment at DLRP again.
Wow, I've read some great news on the forum tonight. Cannot wait to see this again in summer.

What about the Mickeys Christmas show thing (whatever its called).
Its great to have another show, as thats one thing that DLP is missing, shame its not a new one though.
Now for Videopolis :P
AMAZING!!!
Now Lion King for Videopolis and "good old Disney" is BACK!! YEAH!!
Good news that there will be a show in the Chapparal theatre this summer, that's what it was built for after all! Having said that, wht not a new show? Disney should be about innovation not regurtitating the same show year in year out! (that is when they can be bothered to have a show)
Quote from: "ulak"AMAZING!!!

I agree!!!
Apparently it is only on until early September - does anyone know if it will be back again next year?
I am very happy to see this show back in Disneyland Paris!
I made this one fan trailer for this show (used video is from my trip in August 2008)...
[youtube:10n2w2uv]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77NCj_YTXIg[/youtube:10n2w2uv]
Premiere will be in May?
Great job on the trailer, thanks. One of my fav shows ever to grace a Disney park stage!

so glad if this is coming back. My wee boy nearly peed himself cause he didn't want to leave for the toilet and miss any of it

Did you ever see Mulan? While I loved the Legend of the Lion King, I felt the Mulan show was even better than that one, though Tarzan is my absolute fav show.

I have never seen Mulan show on my eyes. I see only some videos on youtube - looks very nice - red flags and crobatic show was amazing. I have miss only some movie songs - i really like Mulan movie and "china theme" and music!
Lion King with live movie song feel me better.
They are both very good IMHO, I just didn't know if you saw the Mulan show. The actual visuals on the stage were so much more impressive to me, but Lion King is also excellent. I hope that one day we will have another quality show in Videopolis that can run all year.
Me too - i totally agree!
Hello, return Tarzan this year, please?
I remember seeing the Tarzan show a few years back at DLP. I hope it comes back!
I got told a few days ago that Tarzan is actually opening in April - anyone confirm or deny this?
Glad to hear that! I love this show. If anyone is interested, I made a video of this show when I last saw it in 2007:
[youtube:312r3c5o]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-49PDiAWVas&feature=g-upl&context=G27fba75AUAAAAAAAFAA[/youtube:312r3c5o]
I also have the legend of the lion king on there:

Anyone news about this, please?
I'd love for Tarzan Encounter to return for the 20th! Fingers crossed.
The offical casting website has placed an ad for gymnasts, acrobats and air performers - so yes, its coming back in April.
Thank you very much! :D
Sorry about this question. But is this really confirmed in 1. April (May)? Nothing information in oficial brochure or in new trailer for DLP...? [-o< Thank you!
I really want to see it!

It's in French, but half way down - it says "Période de contrat : de fin avril à début septembre 2012" translates to: "Contract period: from late April to early September 2012"
So not the start - just April. =]
For those wanting the English version - http://disneylandparis-casting.com/var/ ... d19500.pdf (http://disneylandparis-casting.com/var/dlrh/storage/original/application/05b75ed525e66af3ff42400918d19500.pdf%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;)
Also, I'm pretty sure the April starting contract will include rehearsals/training so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't start it's 2012 run until June.
Thank you. Looks like contract in April/ May - 1 and half month tested and show on stage in July - September :(
Oh that's bad news - of course, they'd need to rehearse.
boooo!! Have them rehearse NOW so I can see it in May :P.

YEAAAAAAAAAH!
Some new date for Tarzan, please?
At the begin of June until the end of the summer season ;)
I do love watching Tarzan & Mickeys Winter Wonderland, but after many years watching both shows I would really like to see a new show for the next few years, after which they can bring back the old shows for newer generations/visitors to watch. I will always watch the shows but please think about the fans who visit on many occasions; repetition becomes boring.
I would like to see the Tarzan encounter again, it has been a long time ago since I have seen this show. But i think I would like it even more if they would perform a total new show in the chapparal theater. Does anyone remember the pocahontas show wich was in the chapparal theater before Tarzan? It would be nice to see that show again.
I agree, Tarzan is pretty old now but it's still the best stage show the resort has. Hopefully next year the Entertainment department will invest in a new show for the Chaparral. I would love to see a Princess & the Frog show for back there.
Something new about this show for this year, please? Premiere or soft openings dates?
Something news?
i think I read somewhere Tarzan starts in June.
I've never seen 'The Tarzan Encounter' before, so it will be nice to see it on my next trip. I'll have to remind myself to put it into the schedule.
Opening on 9th June 2012!
How long before can we hope for soft openings? Thank you!
It's a shame if there are no soft openings the previous week, being UK Half Term holiday with many people going to Disneyland. I booked my trip for the 11th - 15th, as I want to see this show again. The Pocahontas show they had there some years ago was very good - would be nice to see that again.
Amazing show .. such a pity if it is removed :(
Can anyone confirm the start date?
The video posted by AlternativeRock123 shows a start date of 11th June, but someone else has posted 9th June.
At the moment we leave on 8th June but if I know it will definitely be on on 9th June I can change my last day, we love this show and really want to take my little boy to see it.

I agree, they really should have some of the shows on in the UK half term/Jubillee week, there are so many of us on our way over that the Eurostar has been booked up for months and so have all the partner hotels etc.
We've never seen the Pocahontas or the Mulan shows at DLP, but they definitely need to bring some shows back, for the last few years there has only been the Winter Wonderland show.

As far as we know (confirmed twice on Disney Central Plaza by members I'd trust) the "confirmed" date is 9th June 2012, which seems about right. Oddly a summer press release has mentioned 7th July, but apparently that's incorrect.
And to explain the confusion there, the show began on 11th June (also a Saturday)
last year. ;)

We leave on the 10th so was really hoping 9th was the correct start date.
Did anyone catch Tarzan Rocks over at Animal Kingdom back in the day? Is this Tarzan show similar to the one in Florida? Do you just show up a few minutes before the show stars, or is it like Dreams where you have to line up far in advance to catch good seats.
A quick description of this show would be a Gymnastics spectacular! There is a lot of Gymnastics and trampolining involved all held together by the tarzan story. In the past, 10/15 minutes before the show would be good enougth to get a reasonable seat. By memory, they did'nt open the theatre until about 20 minutes before show time.
I loved that show, and I also went to see the musical in Hamburg 2 years ago. Both is awesome and anytime they play "You'll be in my heart" I have tears in my eyes
I´ve seen Tarzan Rocks in Animal Kingdom and I have also seen the Tarzan Encounter in the past. They are not exact the same but they are a bit. The story of Tarzan, not much spoken words but the Tarzan songs wich are telling the story. Lots of acrobatic.
Differnces were in Tarzan Rock was a live band singing the songs in Tarzan Encounter the songs are on tape. In Tarzan Rocks there was much rollerskating, this was not seen in Tarzan Encounter.
The show is amazing! my favourite one, not seen it in a good few years! and i wont this year unless they keep it going until the end of the year :(
Hi
We saw Tarzan on Saturday 9th it was very good and filled up very quickly!
We weren't sure what to expect, but it was amazing :-)
We were there on Saturday as well. We saw the 17:15 performance and they were turning people away as it was full. I believe they issued tickets to them and put on at extra performance around 18:00 that wasn't scheduled.
It still remains one of my favourite attractions and I wish we had time to see it more than once.

We were at the 2pm show on Saturday (also full). The 6.15pm show was Dream AP holders. Unfortunately we could not go as we had already booked BBWWS.

Oh, I see. They seemed to be turning people away from that even though they had tickets.
Excited to see it again! Went to see "Tarzan the musical" in Hamburg this December, which was absoloutely amazing and one of the best musicals I have ever seen (coming from someone who has been to west end theatres over 25 times haha), but I actually missed the Tarzan/Jane-pas de deux a little(sorry ballet term haha- but not sure what the gymnastic term for a partner sequence is)- I love that sequence, its so romantic and entertaining! Had an amazing Jane and Tarzan 4 years ago who were so into it and in-love. Watching the video I recorded of the performance still makes me smile :)!
I wish this had been on when we were there, we missed it by one day! There is always next time.
when we went last week we had never seen it before and was not sure what to make of it ... but it was amazing its a pity they dont use the stage all year round ... we must have watched the show every day we were there :)
Hi
How long is the show trying to decide if my little girl will sit through it.

I think it is around 20 minutes and awesome for children, since they can clap and dance (if they dare) along with the monkeys at one part, banging on pans and pots and all that

Thanks was kind of sad when we were told at peter pan show it was there last week last time we were there so x fingers Tarzan will create some equally special memories although the peter pan show will always trump any show as it was my sons first time on stage soo cute. Sure they will love banging those drums.

When and where is the peter pan show? My daughter would love to see it!
The Peter Pan show was on last year, but does not show any longer.
^Is that the same Pan show that used to be on the Hook's ship? I would have thought that they would have brought it back with after the refub.

No, it wasn't the same show.
I will definatly give this a miss personally I hate Tarzan I think its the worst Disney animated canon feature ever
Not sure if this has already been posted, but despite planned auditions and internal expectations, it was officially announced to Cast Members today that The Tarzan Encounter will NOT be returning this year unfortunately....
Oh no :(
I hope they'll bring something else then, otherwhise it'll be quite a boring summer I'm afraid :(
Disappointed [-(
Too bad, really loved that show :(
What a shame.. I only got to see this show for the first time last year.... One of the best live shows they do(did)

Tarzan was a great show, but I think it is time for something new now.
A few years ago they had the show Goofy's Summercamp. That was a nice show and would be a great replacement for Tarzan.
I sure hope there will be another show at the Chapparral Theatre next summer.
I have enjoyed the Tarzan show and would not be against seeing it again this year, but I would much rather see a new show in it's place. To be honest I think it has shown the lack of ambition and rather lazy attitude of DLRP entertainments section over the last few years.
We all seem to accept anything they offer in the way of entertainment when the choices we get at Paris are just a shadow of what the American audience expect and get!
Let's hope that if there is no show in the Chapperal theatre this year it is just a break before Glendale organise something new and unique to Paris. We deserve it!!!!
Just a quick note: You do know that WDW has had the same show (Dream Along With Mickey) in their Magic Kingdom for more than 5 years right? No (character) shows have been going on in California until they premiere their newly developed show and they didn't even have a parade for a while in their magic kingdom! So please, I know and agree that DLP is going to have a bit of a letdown summer season, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side ;)
We'll see what DLP brings in the summer... Maybe we're in for a surprise?

Hi,
You may be right about that, but in WDW there's always a lot of stuff going on... so if theres no show in the magic kingdom... they have tons of shows in the other parks... part of the reason for that is that musicals are far more popular over there than in France or maybe Europe i think...
The language diversity is another issue... They can't put on a 1 hour show with an actual plot and newly written songs... because if it were in french half the people wouldn't understand it and the other way around... so they have to create a show with songs people already know... nobody on stage has to talk or sing themselves... the songs are translated in various languages so that everybody understands at least one line... and to impress the audience they do those acrobatic stunts (which is not bad and really makes me like the show too... but i would also like to see some live singing, something unexpected)
I have nothing against longrunning shows but 5 years isn't 12 years... and something new could be fun... though i would have no problem if they'd continue it either... but no shows at all? ... they once had 4 stages ... 5 if you count lucky nugget saloon... 1 did become "meet mickey" (fine with me) ... at the castle stage they removed all the seating as far as i know... no real show at lucky nugget saloon... chapparel theatre now empty... videopolis: sad fastfood restaurant with sad lion king stage... I don't expect 5 different shows all year long... but they need at least 1 show in the summer to control the masses... or you have to wait 2 hours at big thunder mountain for example...
So maybe you're right and they will surprise us^^ who knows :)
Sadly, DLP is rather lacking in stage shows now, they have had some great shows in the past, The Lion King, Mulan, Tarzan and Mickey's Winter Wonderland, but now they seem to have given up altogether, and no word on Fantillusion this summer either. It looks like EuroDisney have blown all of their entertainment budget on Dreams, which is a fantastic show, the best DLP has ever produced and probably the best in any Disney park, but I had hoped it would add to the roster of entertainment in the parks, not lead to cuts in shows and parades, if that's the reason.
The only Disneyland Park without stage shows and no nighttime parade :(
I hope that I am wrong and Disney do drop a surprise in our laps, but I am not hopeful! We, that is all of us on this forum and all the other visitors to DLRP are the most important people around and we have been sold short in the entertainment department for years. We have watched the number of live performances fade and die before our eyes and I frankly think that DLRP have no respect for us in this matter!
I have introduced several friends to Paris and the universal feedback has been that it is a great, great, theme park but the entertainment was nothing less than feeble!
For those of us who were lucky enough to be at the park for the actual 20th anniversary birthday we saw entertainment as you might expect to find at a Disney park, it's a pity that this sort of day only happens once in a blue moon and then only due to the largesse of an Arab prince who covered the cost!!!
I sincerely hope that we will see a new dawn in live entertainment, Dreams has been a phenominal success and cannot be praised too highly, but we should expect and get more live entertainment than we do at the moment. I fondly remember the live shows in Videopolis, Mulan being my favourite, and would welcome a return to watching good quality live shows in relative comfort and warmth during the winter months. I know that the excuse will be the cost, but Disney really must give the paying public something that equates to a WOW factor. At the moment this seems some distance away!
Having the Chapparel theatre dark is just a waste of space, If EuroDisney can no longer afford stage shows, and they can't justify the cost, then I'd rather have a new ride in its place. It has been a long time since we last had one of those in Disneyland Park.
Thank goodness for Ratatouille in the WDS, I'm really looking forward to it.
Apperently they are focusing on Dreams and the extended 20th anniversary, and therefor the show is out of the question, due to the price tag that Dreams has.
There's a message (screenshot) someplace, I'll see if I can find that.
I'm not crying out for The Tarzan Encounter, a new show would be better. I know that Disney are extending the 20th Anniversary marketing campaign, but they don't seem to be extending the entertainment from last year, it looks like Disney are cutting back on that in the summer at least. We'll just have to wait and see what Disney come up with, and I fully understand their financial position.
Dreams does have the wow factor and I'm sure that the new sections will be very good. Maybe it works out cheaper for EuroDisney to produce Dreams than employ dancers and cms for shows in Videopolis and at the Chapparel theatre,
But it doesn't look like there is going to be very much new to bring us back this summer.
All Disney theme parks have shows to add to the entertainment,
what happened to the refinancing by the walt disney company and stuff??? I thought they said it would give them greater flexibility to operate the parks or something... by now i heard and saw no improvements in that matter... only cutbacks instead of something new... but maybe it takes longer to develop such things... I'm no expert^^ :-|
I agree that it is time for a new show! Tarzan was running way too long now. I cross my fingers that they'll put sth new on stage soon. Does anyone remember "Pocahontas" at Chapparal Theatre? That was a fabulous musical style show!!!
I'm also sad to see Castle Stage AND Videopolis not being used! I'd like to know if it's a financial issue or if shows don't work in Dlp as they do in USA? Although musicals become more popular in Paris during the last years..
I heard rumours that it is because of Dreams sucking up all the money, and that's why Tarzan was cancelled too.
As much as I like to watch Dreams, I'd rather have Dreams on certain days, then no other entertainment (besides the parade) at all.
