Title: January 2016
Post by: lovindisney87 on October 21, 2015, 02:12:29 PM
We are off on our trip at the end of January next year and had fully prepared myself for the closures, I thought it would be the railroad plus all stations, thunder mesa riverboat landing, peter pan, Les cabanes des Robinson and the one I was a little gutted about big thunder mountain. However I have been checking the official Disneyland Paris site and they are currently up to the 19th January and seems to be all above closed plus space mountain??? And the studio tram tour. Am now a little worried about what else could possibly be closed when they put our week up. I know they have to refurbish things and gosh I know that some of dlp definitely needs it, don't get me wrong I knew when I booked that they were planning a massive refurb in the parks but I don't remember seeing space mountain or the tram tour on the list for anywhere in that time 😞
Have also read somewhere that there I no parade in the studios another thumbs down 😒

Regardless of my moan I am still very excited about going again, last time I was pregnant so couldn't do quite as much as I usually do, and this time there is me, dh, dd 11, dd 7, and dd 21 months plus my dad. My girls also wanna try some of the bigger rides which makes my dad being there even better as he doesn't like big rides so can keep youngest dd whilst we ride 😃

Anyone else going january 2016?? Or anyone a little more in the know about what i can expect on my trip???

Thanks 😁

I wouldn't worry too much - in my opinion Rock n Rollercoaster makes up for Space Mountain and BTM. Its possibly my all time favourite ride (both in Disney and other theme parks). I hated the new Space Mountain update the seats are so painful I was actually left bruised.

There will still be plenty to do - there has been a parade in Studios for some years - Stars in Cars was the replacement but now this has gone I have noticed there are many more characters lurking about instead.

If you want any further advice or tips let me know. But I honestly wouldn't be worried based on my personal disney preferences.

Thanks rebecca20 I have never don't rocknroller coaster at dlp, did the one in Florida 14/15 years ago lol, my middle DD can only try rocknroller coaster, tot and rc racer as she's slightly too short for space mountain and Indiana jones unless she has a growth spurt before we go lol. Also wanna do star tours as we have never done this although will be another my youngest will have to wait out, hopefully small world will be open as planned for her and to annoy older two lol 😁  I hope there is loads of characters as my dds love them and cant wait to see how younger reacts. 😁

I know this is going to sound terrible but there were so many children under the height limit that got away with it by standing on tip toes!!! Couldn't believe how stupid the CMs were but also the parents. Things like Tower of Terror are not necessarily a height limit for safety but the children were obviously too young and terrified and didn't want to ride anyway. They do I think apply some discretion.

Rock n Rollercoaster is amazing - nice comfy seats and theming thats relaxed and fun. I don't really understand the Star Tours height restrictions as it's a simulator. What you maybe could do (depending how busy) is ask to queue but not do the ride? Or merely walk half way and turn back as the theming is lovely and theres a bit of a pre-show with R2D2 (we did this with my Godsons aged 1 and 2 and the CM was more than happy to let us).

In studios Slinky Dog might be an option as we went in at 10am and although theres a height limit no CM was there to impose it and so we smuggled the kiddos on (naughty I know but they bloody loved it - you can easily sit them on your knee).

There were loads of characters last week but I have a friend who's a CM and so she text me a lot of info regarding timings for people  ;D

Gosh I am already worried about taking my middle DD on the bigger rides as although she is tall enough she is such a skinny little thing, I wouldn't be able to take her on anything she wasn't tall enough for and I defo will be checking she is in tight enough before she goes on 😁 I didn't think slinky dog had a height restriction, maybe my youngest wont get on that either 😞 she would love that one.
Lucky you having a cm friend, I will just have to hope we see plenty of characters, last trip we were really lucky and walked into loads that weren't advertised, genie, peter pan, hook, smee, baloo and king Louie all on a walk from peter pan ride through adventureland towards big thunder mountain. Cannot wait to go really, now in double figures so hopefully may feel like its going quicker 😁😉

Don't worry, she will be totally safe. Of course, depending on her attitude to thrill rides, she might not like them (or you :D) afterwards.

Here is what I would do. If you're going to the Studios, for example, start with the calmer rides and work up. For example, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin. From there, work up to Cars Quatre Roues Rallye and then Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop. (Make sure you thread the seatbelt through the plastic loop between her legs on Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop for safety.)

If she finds those fine, the next steps up are The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror and RC Racer. RC Racer is quite high and quite fast. This may be her first experience of over-the-shoulder restraints – encourage her not to grip the handles on them all the time as it makes you very tense! (Tip: get FastPasses for TZTOT and go and wait in the queue for RC Racer.)

Should she be up for more, Rock & Roller Coaster avec Aerosmith would be the next stop. This has a very fast launch and 3 inversions (a double loop also known as a sea serpent roll at the start and a corkscrew a bit after half way). The restraints click down to suit individual guest sizes so make sure they are snug – though the CMs will anyway. This ride is also quite loud.

I haven't mentioned Crush's Coaster yet, and despite its lower height requirement, I consider it the roughest ride in the park. Space Mountain over in the other park is arguably worse again, but as far as the Studios go, it's Crush. That little bit you see outside is by no means representative of the ride as a whole – and if your shell gets four guests whose weights tend to cause more spinning, it is even worse. Because of this and its tiny capacity, you will rarely see me on it. But then again, one should try everything once, right?

Don't forget to pick up your on-ride photo from TZTOT and R&RCAA, especially the latter which is taken during the launch and has a lot of "oh what have I let myself in for" faces :)

Wow great thanks for that info, I have never done crushs coaster, dh and oldest dd did and they loved it, they also tried rc racer but dd didnt like it although she was only 8 at the time. Gonna just have to try her I suppose if she don't like it she don't do it again. I love all the rides myself, I get more sicky doing the teacups and Dumbo 😄. We have got fastpass+ so will definitely be getting all the ride photos put on that. I am really hoping she likes them but I suppose we will have to wait and see, she may even change her mind when we get there 😄😁
She has done cars race rally, slinky dog and parachute drop, she loved them so fingers crossed 😊

Same here haha, I've never been on the teacups, would love to but I turn green! Can do Aerosmith no problem, my kids think it is hilarious.

Our turtle shell didn't soon at all In  September. Want sure if they'd stopped spinning altogether or if it was just ours?

The only two ride closures that really affect us is Peter Pan and the Tram tour. I'm kind of disappointed about them but sure not much we can do...

Wondering for january is it worth buying snow boots, is the weather usually bad or would normal like uggs whatever be fine?

I reckon Uggs would be fine - Pretty sure they made paths etc safe when I last went and it had snowed. Maybe look nearer the time at the weather forecast and have some Snow boots in mind just in case.

You can also buy little attachments for shoes called snow tracks or something similar - I used these in Canada on both Wellies and Uggs and had no need for more sensible footwear. Plus they're compact and you can take them off.

Last time we went in January we just wore normal boots, although halfway through I did buy some wellies but that was because my DD kept treading on the back of my shoes and ended up ripping off the back of the sole on one shoe, 😆 the weather was ok for January yes it was cold but it only actually rained one day, fingers crossed for the same next year 😁

I was only wondering cos the local supermarkets will be getting snow boots this week and prob won't have them in January. I have skethers like uggs but I know if it snows they will let in the wet.

I don't think they'll be huge issues with puddles in the actual parks as we've been in winter and it was snowy but the pavements were completely clear. Depends what hotel your in but the walk there could be an issue if they don't grit.

I'm going 28th January to the 1st February for my 4th trip and cant wait! I am upset that small world and the railroad will be down along with the other rides but it just gives me more of a chance to do some character hunting! had a lot of fun on my last trip finding characters everywhere and I am booking the Inventions brunch which means I'll get to see Aladdin, Jasmine and Abu!

Quite excited that I have just seen a post on a different site showing princess Tiana meet and greet at the thunder mesa riverboat landing starting the 8th January, makes frontierland a little bit more appealing what with all the closures around that way. Also a post about the sales having started, when we went in January 2014 we picked up some proper bargains in their sales, lets hope there's plenty left in 3 weeks  ;D ;D ;)

Hey there!  :)

Looks like we might be going during almost the same time! Ill be there from the 19th-24th of Jan whereas Ill be staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Trust me you are going to enjoy Disneyland Paris in January, its so nice as its not so busy at all especially during the week since most of the kids in France would be at school...that means less waiting time and even more fun!  :P This is my 5th time visiting DLP during this month, I just enjoy it! The weather might be cold yes but that won't harm at all, just make sure you d be wearing good thermal underwear and a good down or insulated jacket.
You ll be fine!  :D You all are gonna enjoy it so much!

I am going the day after you leave, 25th - 29th, we went in January 2 years ago whilst I was 28 weeks pregnant and my husband and 2 older kids were literally walking on rides with no queue. Glad to hear it will probably be like that again as not sure how our little one whos 22 months will deal with it all yet lol. I hope you have an amazing trip   :D
