As you all know, this was a bit of an emotional trip for me this time. Events at home took over and they had a major impact on the trip.

I set off on the 16th September at about 9:30pm from home for the drive to Dover. My mother had been admitted into hospital a few days before, and at that time we didn't know for certain what was wrong with her. In retrospect, looking back, I think we all suspected there could be a real risk of her cancer having come back, and my Dad had told me she was really ill and to be prepared if anything should happen.

I'd been to see her on the Saturday and her last wish / request she'd made of me was that I still go on holiday and enjoy myself. I went, praying that she would get better, but unfortunately we now know that wasn't to be.

I didn't see anything on the forum in the days prior to going because, it was a personal matter, and, several other people were getting excited about going to the resort last week, and I didn't want to dampen anyone's enthusiasm with my bad news. I was trying really hard that last day before departure to keep my mind off of things too, and to work up some enthusiasm for the trip.

It was a difficult drive down at times, on my own, with my thoughts and worries about what might happen. I finally got to Dover about an hour or so before the ferry was due to leave. Got onboard reasonably quickly, and I must have dozed off and had a half hour to an hour or so of sleep on the ferry. I arrived in Calais at about 5:50. I found it a bit disorientating at first driving off, I think the problem was there was a fine drizzle which reduced visibility and it was dark, and so it was a bit of a pain at first joining the motorway.

Eventually settled down for the drive to Disney, and I managed to the drive straight through. The weather brightened up, but the roads were very busy, first thing Monday morning. I hadn't experienced this in March because it was a Sunday morning I'd gone.

Anyway, I finally arrived without incident at the Santa Fe Hotel just before 9 am. I got checked in, collected my pass, and then attempted to ring home. Had a little trouble ringing home, I wasn't sure of the exact codes to ring - I knew you had to ring 44 - but I didn't realise you dialled 0044 to get a UK line. I spoke to a girl in reception at Santa Fe and she helped me out, and I managed to get a call through to my Dad and let him know I'd arrived. Obviously we didn't have any further news at this point about my Mum, as I'd only just seen him the night before when I set off.

I had a quick look around the hotel, checked the shop and noticed they had the two Princess float snowglobes, and made a mental note to get those from the shop during the week. Then I headed down to Disneyland.

The Santa Fe was much further out than I'd realised, it's a lot further than Sequoia Lodge, even though it's only just past that hotel. I ended up by the end of the day, after two trips back and forth to the hotel, and other walking I'd done, with bad blisters on my feet, and I'm still suffering a bit with those. I tend to expect this with Disney, and I thought I was going to be better prepared this time, but I'd had several weeks of inactivity with the car accident, and I found it quite a struggle at times getting around.

First port of call was to stop in at Disney Village and check out a few shops. I looked in the Disney Gallery shop and saw they still had the framed Belle pin sets I'd seen in March. There were three pictures, one of which I got in March, the others were large pins of Belle (in her blue dress) and the sheep, mounted on a sketch of the fountain. The other was a print of Belle from 'Be Our Guest' with large pins of Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and other objects mounted as if they are dancing on the table in front of her. They are gorgeous pictures, and I'd been quite keen to get these this time.

I got down to the Park and had a leisurely stroll down Main Street, and walked down by the castle stage to see who was out doing meet and greets. I was amazed to see that it was Belle out, and I hung around and took quite a few pictures, but it never really occurred to me to go and meet her. She did come out to see some disabled guests at one point, and I got very close up to her, but didn't push myself forward, and just took some pictures from the side. Aurora and Phillip were also out, and I got some photo's of them too.

I then headed into Discoveryland and did Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear. I thought it was best to start with some gentler rides to see how my back and neck would cope.

I did find I was in some terrible pain later on with my back, but that was more from walking around, and the physiotherapist had said that might be an issue before I went, moreso than going on the rides.

I ended up doing quite a few rides that day, I can't remember now the order I did everything, but I did Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain 2, Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones. I had a walk to the Studio's at around 1:30 to see what the Toon Studios were like, and have a look at Crush's Coaster. Waiting times were something like 90 minutes in the afternoon, so I discounted that, and had a walk over to Rock N' Rollercoaster to do that.

Then disaster struck. I got off Rock N' Rollercoaster, took my camera out of my pocket to take some more pictures, and it was broken. It looked as though the LCD screen had gone, and although it wasn't broken, it looked like it was all cracked beneath the glass. All I can think is that it must have got bashed against the side of the seat in the rollercoaster.

I was really split then as to what to do. I had my mobile, with a camera, but it didn't take a very good picture at only 2mp. I could buy a camera in the park, but they're not very good quality camera's. Or I could go to the Val D'Europe and see if I could get a new digital camera for a reasonable price.

I ended up getting one for about 180 euro's, with a 10 x Optical Zoom on it, and at 7 mp resolution. It took the same memory card as the one I had, so I could just take that card out and carry on. I just made it back to Disneyland for about 3:30 and managed to get settled down on Main Street in time for the parade. Then just as the parade was due to start, it started to rain.

I was a bit less than impressed by the parade on the first day, but I think there were several factors. I didn't get to see my favourite floats stop near me, and I ended up getting very few pictures of the Princess floats that first day. I was really disappointed because I was on the wrong side for Belle, and you couldn't really get a good view from where I was standing.

It also rained, and I was struggling with the new camera, having not much time to get to grips with it, so it was a difficult first day to view the parade really - although things did get much better later in the week - and I think some of the later pictures I took were breathtaking.

After the parade I collected a wrist band for the extra magic hours and then headed off to get settled into my hotel room. Just before this though, I decided to go and get some of the Princess prints they were selling reduced in the park. I'd bought Belle and Ariel in March, and wanted the other 3 to go with them. Had a bit of a disaster with my credit card, which continued all week - the machines at DLRP kept refusing my card, and I'd made sure it was paid before going, and ended up ringing the card company in the shop, and they said they weren't getting a request for payment through. Very strange and more than a bit embarassing. Although I did have a couple of other cards, and I was able to draw out some cash on that particular card, so I got by without too many problems. I just seemed to have problems keep being thrown at me all week.

I thought the Santa Fe was quite a nice hotel, the rooms are very nice, a little smaller than Sequoia Lodge, but it's not an issue when you're on your own. It's a shame there isn't a pool, as I love a swim in the morning when I stay at Sequoia, and the walk is a bit of an issue, much further than Sequoia, and I ended up using the shuttle buses.

I went back into Disneyland and did some more rides before coming back to the hotel, absolutely shattered and feet in a very bad way. I'd rung home and got an update on my Mum, but at this point, we still hadn't got a diagnosis, and although she wasn't well, they were starting to get her comfortable.

I sorted out my feet as best I could with the blister plasters and after looking at my pics on my laptop, I settled down for sleep.

One of the problems with the new parade, is depending which side you're on, you don't necessarily see everything. I was on the right hand side (their left) on the first day only, and didn't see Scar, but got the Evil Queen, but the rest of the week I was on the other side, and you miss the characters on that side. It's a parade you really have to watch several times over the week to get the best of it.

Brilliant report so far Dark Prince :wink: I know what you mean about standing on the right side of Main Street for the parade. We had the same problem. You can't cross the street when the parade is on as well, so that was very annoying :? I have to say though, you took much better photos of the parade than me :lol:

Well, the best stuff is yet to come. I'm just printing out some large A4 prints of some of my pics, and I'm really pleased with them. It was a bit of a mixed bag on the first day, but some of the later pictures are so beautiful, and the colours are so vibrant.

I wonder if anyone will spot themselves on any of the photo's. :)

I was wondering all week if someone would stop me because of the Belle lanyard. I had so many people commenting on how lovely my pins were, both castmembers and members of the public.

So many people stopping me and commenting about Belle being my favourite.

I'm jumping ahead a bit but when I went into City Hall on Thursday to thank them for Wednesday, and I commented about meeting Belle and said how beautiful and enchanting she was, the castmember I spoke to just said, but of course, it is Belle! :lol:

the carrd machines kept breaking in the whole resort that week, we were asked to get cash for our dinne rin cafe mickey on wednesday because of the problem - they must have lost loads of business

We had problems with our cards as well. The Disneyland hotel couldn't take them. Luckily we always take cash as well. I am sure they did loose a lot of business

Before heading into the park on the second day I did a bit of shopping at Santa Fe. I bought the two Princess Float snowglobes, which are absolutely beautiful, though not quite as large as I anticipated. I'll have to take some new merchandise pictures eventually to post.

I decided to go to Walt Disney Studio's and do Crush's Coaster first thing. The queues were still quite large even first thing, and it was about a 45 minute wait.

To be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed by it first time. I think it's the sense of disorientation with the spinning, which you're not really used to when you first go on it. I rode it again later in the week and enjoyed it more on the second go.

Then I did Cars Race Rally, again, a bit underwhelming. It's a fun ride, but very much a kiddie ride, although it does have nice theming around the ride. I also did Cinemagique and Animagique before going on Rock N' Rollercoaster, and then settling down to watch the parade. I didn't really get that many photo's of the Studio's parade though.

I then headed into Disneyland Park just after lunch for the rest of the day, intending to do my favourite attractions as usual, and find a nice spot for the parade. I headed under the castle and got some pictures of the dragon. Always like to try and get some good pictures of the dragon, which I think is amazing, and I particularly liked this one.

I came out of Sleeping Beauty's Castle and saw the character train. One of the castmembers caught a glimpse at my lanyard, and gave me a knowing look, then looked down at his own pin lanyard a bit dejectedly, which was quite amusing. I thought the train was a great idea, and it's a great opportunity to get some character photo's.

I settled down just on the edge of the Central Plaza for the parade, hoping to catch different float stops. I also went to the opposite side of the road to see the other side of the floats. Unfortunately, just as the parade was due to start again, it started raining, the only rain we had all day! But it eased off about halfway through the parade.

I ended up with a parade stop about midway between the Lion King / Jungle Book float and the first Princess float. It wasn't a bad spot. I got some nice photo's of Ariel with my zoom lens, and some pictures of Snow White and Aladdin and Jasmine when they got off the other float. They aren't as sharp as they could have been, but in some ways, I think it adds to the magical quality of them.

I was getting a bit vexed at this point though that I was struggling to get good photo's of the other Princesses on the parade. This was about the best shot of Belle I'd managed to get.

After spending a couple more hours in the park, I headed back to the hotel to review my pictures. It was that night I rang home and my Dad told me we'd got the diagnosis for my Mum. I couldn't hold things together and I broke down on the phone, and then when I rang off, I felt so alone - more alone than I've ever felt in my life. I'm not a particularly religious person, but that night I prayed - I prayed my Mum would find peace, my Dad would find the strength to continue and I prayed for forgiveness for myself because I was on holiday and I wasn't there for them - I was wracked with guilt, even though I'd been told to go by Mum - the last words she spoke to me were that I must go on holiday and I must enjoy myself.

I really didn't know what to do with myself that night, and I cried all night - and I decided, that if I was feeling just as lost in the morning, I must go and find someone to talk to.

Sorry for ending the report there, but I haven't got the other photo's uploaded yet. As most of you know, Disney went beyond the call of duty for me the next day, and they really got me back on track, and made it one of the magical days of my life... ever!

I got up on the Wednesday morning and didn't know what to do with myself. I felt so empty and on top of that, I was in such pain because my feet were very badly blistered.

I had an early breakfast planned every morning at 7:30 and I set off for the restaurant. I was in a block quite a long way from the main facilities in Santa Fe. I have to say, that one thing I quite liked about Santa Fe was the motel style where each block had it's own parking, so to save my feet, each time I went to the main building, or to get the shuttle bus, I got in my car and left it near the main block.

I went in to breakfast, and just couldn't face eating anything. I got a couple of rolls and a couple of glasses of fruit juice, but I must have looked like a ghost to people in there, as I sat down, and ended up just drinking my fruit juice.

I resolved that I had to speak to someone, if it was only a case of having someone listen to me. I wandered through to the main reception, and indicated for the girl to move over to the side for a bit of privacy and explained that I'd received bad news the night before, and I pretty much broke down on reception. I'm sure she said it was the manager she was bringing out, although I was told later in the week that they didn't have a manager at the hotel. I explained the situation again, and that I was alone at the resort, and I said I was sorry for dropping this onto them, but I felt I needed someone to talk to. They listened to me, but they explained that they didn't have any training in offering counselling at all, and said I would be better to speak to someone in the first aid centre in the Disneyland Park, which I was told was on the right hand side as you go into the park. That was going to be 10 o'clock before I could speak to anyone, so I thought I had to try and sort my feet out before then, and asked them if they could direct me to where I'd find a chemist to get some blister plasters in Val D'Europe. They told me where a pharmacy was, which was actually just before the main shopping mall, and it was virtually impossible to get parked, so I jst stuck my hazard lights on and pulled up on the road outside the chemist as I nipped in to see if I could find some gel plasters, and I managed to get a couple of packs which should see me through the week. Went back to the hotel and treated my feet, and finally started to get a bit of relief, but they were very sore to walk around on for the rest of the week, and I ended up taking the parks very slowly.

I got in the car to go back up to the main block and catch a bus to the parks, and just got there in time for one of the yellow buses.

I got into Disneyland and set off to find the first aid station, which actually turns out to be just before the Plaza restaurant, and not as you first go into the park. I asked a castmember for directions at the top of Discovery Arcade, and then wandered down the arcade, which was very quiet at this time. I went into the centre and there was a nurse in there, and I explained the situation to her, but broke down again as I was talking to her. She couldn't speak much english, and she got another castmember to listen to me too, and she got me settled down into the infirmary and got me some water, and said they would find someone who could speak good english to come and talk to me.

After a short wait, they brought a castmember from City Hall called Luc, who sat and talked to me for what must have been a good hour and a half or so. He listened to me as I explained the situation, and explained that at that point, I didn't even know whether or not my Mum had died. I explained that I felt more alone than ever before in my life, and how guilty I'd felt that I'd left others behind. We spoke alot about faith, and what my Mum would have wished, and how I could find the strength to go on, and he really helped to put things into perspective.

There wasn't anything he told me that I didn't already know rationally, but in a situation like that, your head doesn't rule your heart, and I was in complete turmoil. We talked about whether it was worth returning home early, and whether they could do anything to help me arrange that, and I explained that I'd driven myself anyway, and didn't really feel to be in a fit state for the drive at this point, and we agreed that it was my Mum's wish that I be there, and that I really needed to find a way to try and put my feelings aside for the moment, and enjoy what was left of my holiday.

Luc said that if there was anything at all that I wanted, anything special that they could arrange for me, then I should ask them, and they would see what they could do. He suggested that they could give me a VIP guided tour of the park, so a castmember would be with me all day, and he said someone would be available that day until around 5pm. They would be able to arrange special access to attractions so I wouldn't have to queue, and be able to arrange special access to shows.

I said I was already quite familiar with the park, but I said it might be a good idea to have someone with me, as I thought I would only dwell on things if I was left on my own. I said the only other thing that I would really like to do was to see the Princesses, I explained that I loved to take photo's, and had difficulties with the parade the previous two days and missed the stops for the Princess floats and said I would love get some nice photographs of the Princesses. He said he couldn't guarantee that anything could be done, but he would look into this, and get back to me, and in the meantime, would organise a guide.

When he came back, he'd found a guide which was a castmember called Daphne, and he said although they couldn't arrange a special meeting for the Princesses, we could go to the castle stage and see if we could catch them as they did a changeover, and we'd probably be able to meet a couple of the Princesses on the changeover, and possibly be able to meet someone at Cinderella's Restaurant.

I was quite overwhelmed with what they were doing for me, and the effort they were making, and I was so thankful. We made our way to the castle stage, and who should be on stage but Belle!

They had a word with the castmember who was looking after Belle, and they said when they did a changeover we'd meet the next princess coming out, and then be able to meet Belle, before she went in.

We had a quick scout around the restaurant, but there was no sign of anyone around there, so we stood and waited for the changeover.

It wasn't long before Aurora and Philip came out, and we got them to stop briefly and pose for a photograph. Aurora was absolutely stunning.

It wasn't long before Belle and the prince came off the stage and I couldn't believe it. I was about to meet Belle in Disneyland! They dashed across and came over to me, where I first asked to take their photo together. I then asked Belle if she would pose for a photo on her own, and she struck a pose straight out of Disney's merchandising, she looked absolutely beautiful. I said to her that I was probably her biggest fan, and showed her my lanyard full of Belle pins, which she said were lovely. She had a really soft french accent, and she then said to me take her hands as we posed for a couple of photo's together.

She was beautiful and enchanting, and I couldn't stop gushing about meeting Belle for the rest of the week. This was easily the highlight of my holiday, and it lifted my spirits so much. You wouldn't believe looking at those photo's, that just half an hour or so earlier I'd been an emotional wreck. I got more photo's as the week went on with me on, and it was always something my Mum complained about, that there weren't enough photo's of me around, and I wished she'd been able to see them when I got home. It would be nice to think that wherever she is now, she's been looking down and has seen the pictures of me with Belle, and around Disneyland. I have one of these pictures on my desktop at the moment, and I never thought I'd ever have a picture of myself on my PC, but this was such a happy moment for me. I know it's daft, it's not really Belle, it's just an actress - but nevertheless, she was enchanting, and she helped make my dreams come true, for one moment there, I was Belle's prince. :)

After that, Daphne and I set off around the park. She asked me if there was anything I'd like to do in particular. I asked about the Lion King show, and whether you still had to get tickets in advance. She said that you just queued now for about 10 minutes or so early, and I was a bit concerned about standing for a long period on my feet, so I said was it possible to get in to see The Lion King that afternoon, so she rang through and reserved tickets for mid afternoon.

I explained that I really wanted to see the Princess float stops in the parade, and asked where the best place to see this was. She said we could go to Bella Notte and stand outside there, and they would stop there and the Princesses would dance in front of us, and it was also a fairly quiet place to see the parade, so we planned to go there for around 3:30.

I then said there wasn't any particular attraction I was desperate to ride. I said I wasn't really in the mood for doing rollercoasters, and said perhaps it would be nice to have some of the secrets around the park pointed out to me, and have my photo taken around the park. So then we had a walk around various areas and got my photo taken around the park.

We got to Pirates of the Caribbean, and I said this had been the only attraction my Mum had really enjoyed when we came as a family in March 06. I said it would be a fitting tribute to do Pirates, and so we went straight into Pirates, and who should be there but Jack Sparrow, so I got a photo of Jack!

During the ride, Daphne told me that almost every attraction has a hidden Mickey in it somewhere. In Pirates, it's the three barrels that hang overhead the boat as you start to pass through the town. Peter Pan, it's the three volcano's as you circle the island. She said she didn't know all of them, and later on we did Snow White, and I noticed there are 3 tubs of gems at one point, and asked if that was the hidden Mickey, she said she didn't know on Snow White, but it could be.

I met Goofy and Pluto in Frontierland and had my photo taken with them. I felt a little bit guilty that castmembers were pulling characters out to meet me while lots of kids were trying to get close to them - Eeyore was here too, and so after we'd got pics with Goofy and Pluto, I said I'd pass on Eeyore, and let the kids have their time with them. I'd already met Belle after all, and no-one else could match up to Belle!

We then got some pictures outside Big Thunder Mountain in Frontierland, but they came out a little bit dark, and then rode Big Thunder Mountain.

We then set off to Discoveryland, for The Lion King show. I suggested getting some pictures outside Star Tours under the X-Wing, and explained to Daphne that Star Wars had always been a major part of my life too, and that Star Tours and Indiana Jones had been the things which originally brought me to Disney back in 1994. But I then went on to explain that now, it was just as much about all the Disney stuff.

We then went into The Lion King show. We'd got reserved seats, and they were right in the centre of the audience, perfect position to watch the show. At the end of the show, Simba came off stage, and came to shake hands with all the guests who were sat in the reserved area, which was really nice.

While we were in The Lion King show, another castmember changed over with Daphne for a while. Unfortunately, I can't remember her name, but she was german, and couldn't speak much english - but we got by. We had a walk around Fantasyland, the character express was just about to go from the castle, and we were going to stop and look, but we decided not to bother, and instead had a walk through Fantasyland. I took some pictures around Cinderella's restaurant, and then we went on Small World. This was her first job as a castmember, and it was her favourite attraction, and she was obviously very proud of it.

We then went to get our spot for the parade, it was about 3:30, and people were just starting to collect. She was going to take me across the other side of the road from Bella Notte, and I said I particularly wanted to see Belle on the float, and thought it would be better to be on the other side, and she agreed, and we stood right outside the front of Bella Notte.

The previous two days had been a bit iffy weather wise for the parade, but the sun came out on this day, and it was glorious. I couldn't wait for the parade to start, and Daphne returned just before the parade began.

I've been saying all week that the best pictures were to come, and the last two parade days, I think I took some truly stunning photo's. Some of the best photo's I've ever taken in my life.

After the parade, we had about 40 minutes or so before Daphne had to finish for the day, so we had a wander through Fantasyland. Did Peter Pan and Snow White, and then Daphne showed me the window in the castle that changes between the doves and the rose.

We then headed up to City Hall, where I was going to thank Luc for the day if he was still around, but unfortunately he wasn't.

I told Daphne how much I'd enjoyed the day and how much I appreciated what had been done for me, and she said she'd enjoyed it too. I said I would make a point of writing a letter to thank everyone who had touched my life that day.

I didn't bother with the extra magic hours that night, as my feet were aching so much. I did a couple more rides and then headed out of the park for the evening.

When I got back to the hotel, I stopped off at reception to leave a message as to how I'd got on over the day, and then went to the shop to get some pens and paper. I couldn't really find any suitable paper and when I explained I was wanting to write a letter to thank the staff at the resort for my day, the castmember kindly went and found me some A4 paper, and gave me an envelope. I sat down and wrote about 4 and half pages of A4 that night, which really came from the heart.

They'd shown me a truly magical day, and although it couldn't erase the pain I'd been feeling, they'd eased the pain and given me the strength to carry on.

I will never forget what Luc and Daphne did for me that day, and all the other people who helped that day, like the actress who played Belle, and all the other castmembers we came across.

After ending on such a dark note last night, it's nice to end tonight's report on an uplifting note.

That was the tour, with Daphne.

And they'd arranged that special meeting with Belle.

:)

They were all an anchor for me that day. Without those people, I don't know what I would have done that day.

It wasn't just Luc and Daphne, though they both deserve special praise, but everyone in the resort who crossed my path that day was amazing - I'll never forget any of them - I intend to send some links to my photo's to them at some point, I said I would in the letter I wrote to them.

It might be an idea to send them a link to this thread, so people at DLRP can read it and see how much they helped me through. I'll never hear a bad word said about DLRP and it's castmembers after the amazing treatment they gave me when I needed it.

Usually when I read reports I just skim through them, picking out what they went on and what they thought, but your report seemed to make me read it thoroughly. You had such an interesting trip :) I think it's absolutely great what the CM's did for you, and it seems they really did make your dreams come true :)

Your photos are brilliant also. I didn't get many of the Once Upon A Dream Parade, so I really enjoyed looking at yours :wink:

Still got another two days to go yet, but I'm at work tomorrow and the funeral is on Friday so it probably won't be the weekend until I complete it.

I just received all my prints today from Kodak.

There are actually about another 600 photo's too, which I haven't done much with yet, so there are a lot of other photo's, some of which I could potentially post further down the line.

Fourth day, and after the wonderful thing they'd done for me on the Wednesday, I was feeling a little bit more settled.

I decided to go into the Studio's to start with to ride Crush again. I'd made sure I'd got the letter I'd done for the castmembers as I intended to hand that in at City Hall when I went into Disneyland Park.

First stop, Crush's Coaster, which only had a 35 minute wait time.

After doing Crush's Coaster, I took some photo's around the Studio's, particularly of the many banners around the park. As I walked around for a go on Rock N' Roller Coaster, I saw Lilo and Stitch, with not a soul in sight, and they posed for a number of photo's.

After this, I headed back to Disneyland Park - that would end up being it for the Studio's this trip.

On the way out, I bought a pin bag, which I'd been promising myself for months (and which is now full!) - I had this sent back to the hotel, and then headed for Disneyland Park.

I stopped off at City Hall and handed my letter in. It seems neither Luc or Daphne were working that day, but they promised that it would get to them, and I said all castmembers were welcome to read it.

I told the castmember in there about the day before, and we chatted about meeting Belle, and I said how beautiful and enchanting she was - to which he said, well of course, it's Belle! :lol:

I then headed down towards the castle stage, and took some pictures of Aurora.

She was another beautiful lady, but I got a bit mixed up with the photo's. The castmember was offering to take a photo with my own camera, but I'd decided I wanted an official photo. But I could have probably had both done. I realised how to work the meet and greets properly the next day.

I posed with Belle for two photo's, which I'll post pictures of when I do my merchandise photo's. I also asked Belle to pose on her own, and if she'd pose with the Prince. They were very obliging, and I got some lovely photo's.

Did a few rides in Discoveryland following this, usual suspects, Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain and Star Tours. Got a nice pic of the Nautilus. I really have to go on that again next time.

Then headed to Main Street and the Kodak shop to get my photo's. I picked out one large print, and had it put in a perspex frame with the DLRP 15th logo's around it, and one smaller print, in a card frame. Quite expense, it cost me around 48 euro's for the pair, but they are a nice souvenir. I asked if they could hang on to them until later, and I'd collect them in the evening on my way out of the park.

I headed down for an ice cream then at the Gibson Girl, and caught the Character Express just as I was coming out of the shop.

After the parade had passed, I headed into Fantasyland. Had a stop at Toad Hall for some fish and chips, then did a few rides.

Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones (where my Princess Lanyard medallion broke - so I had to buy another! :? ), then went into Frontier Land. Got some photo's of the Halloween decorations, and then stopped Don Diego to ask for a photo! :lol:

I intended to do BTM with a fastpass, after doing Phantom Manor, but they'd really messed the fastpasses up on BTM that week, I don't know whether it was intentional, or whether guests had done it, but the queues had been merged much earlier, so you ended up queueing for quite a while with a fastpass, I really thought this was quite poor, and I couldn't bear to stand on my feet for a long period so headed back up to Main Street.

I stopped off and bought a couple of pins, and a new Princess medallion. I had a bit of a faux pas in the queue at Harrington's. A little girl just darted up to the counter in front of me. She was laden down with stuff, but I let her go in front of me. They rang it through and it was about 95 euro's. When she got her purse out, she was about 40 euro's short. She had about £25 and was asking if they'd accept that. They ended up having to go through her whole bag, and it took about 20 minutes. I'd only got 2 pins, 2 postcards and a lanyard medallion.

Oh well! :roll:

I stopped off at the Kodak shop and got my photo's, and I also found the 2 CD 15th anniversary album. I was a bit miffed at this because I'd asked someone earlier in the week if they'd got an album out and he said no, so I'd bought Just Like We Dreamed It on a single, then found the album a day later! :roll:

Stopped just outside the Disneyland Hotel to have a sit down and have a look at my pictures, then headed back for the shuttle bus.

Another tiring day in Disneyland!

The last day I got up and was really undecided about whether or not to go into the Park or to set off home after breakfast. I went and had breakfast, then went into the shop to spend my last few euro's - some sweets for work. Chatted with the girl in the shop - she was asking about my pins, and we got talking about Belle. She said Beauty and the Beast was one of her favourite movies, from seeing it when she was 12, which made me feel a bit old. I said it was a bit later for me, and she said, okay, 13 then - to which I said she was too kind. I told her about meeting Belle, and she told me about the number of applicants they get for the princesses, thousands of girls. I really thought the castmembers were very welcoming, and very engaging on this holiday, all over the resort.

I decided eventually I would head into the park, if only to see if Luc and Daphne were about again at City Hall, but I decided also I'd go and see what Princesses were around on the castle stage.

I popped into City Hall and they told me they may be in later, around 12 o'clock, so I headed down to the castle stage. On the way, I saw some pin traders outside the Plaza restaurant. These were a couple of older guys who had a couple of pin books each out on the tables, I'd seen them before last March, but hadn't stopped. Had a quick look at what they'd got, but a lot of the pins I'd already seen on Ebay, and some of the nicer Princess pins I'd already got myself.

I then headed down for the stage, and decided to wait in the queue, which wasn't too large at this point, to see who came out. I was rewarded when it was Cinderella and Prince Charming, who I hadn't met. Cinderella was absolutely stunning.

I think she was an english girl, she didn't have much of an accent, but she was so sweet and charming. When I eventually met her, she said hello, then she noticed my lanyard and asked me if Belle was my favourite. I said, well, yes, but I like you alot too! :)

I asked if I could have a photo just with Cinderella, and if they'd take it with my own camera, to which they obliged, and Cinders put her arm in mine. I then asked if I could take a couple of photo's of her on her own, and finally one with the prince. He was wandering off chatting to other guests while I was making time with Cinders, :lol: , and she had to shout him over.

She was really nice, and she could easily have made me change my allegiance from Belle - well, almost! :roll:

After Cinders, Aurora and Phillip came out, and I got back in the queue to meet them. By the time I got to the front they'd changed over though, and it was Belle again. The only problem was, it was the Belle I'd met the day before. I thought long and hard about meeting her again, but knew I had limited time, and thought I might as well wait really for Aurora again. I explained to the castmember that I'd met this couple the day before and asked if I could wait at the front for the next changeover, and they were very obliging. Eventually Aurora came out, who was very nice too. We had the same set up with Aurora and Phillip. Photo's of Aurora and me, then of Aurora and finally with Phillip.

Once again, they were very nice, and very obliging.

I'd been told by a castmember that I might catch Jasmine in Adventureland, and that Ariel was going to be at Cinderella's restaurant at 12 o'clock for a meet and greet, so I set off in search of other Princesses.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find Jasmine, and when I got to the restaurant, they told me you had to have a meal, which they hadn't explained at the castle stage - they said it was just the same kind of meet and greet, so that was a bit of a disappointment - I would have loved to meet Ariel.

And at that point I set off. Got some petrol, and got straight through to Calais with no problems. Thought I was early and then I found out my ferry should have been 8:05 in the morning, not the evening - bizarre time to be booked on, because you wouldn't have had any opportunity to get breakfast or enjoy the park on your last day. I had a similar problem with my next booking for next March when I got home and checked, but have rung through to amend my return trip.

I ended up with a £5 surcharge. The French official was a bit snooty, even though I explained to her how I'd made the mistake. I got a ferry at 16:30, and sat at the front on the approach to the white cliffs of Dover. There's always something nice about getting back to England, even though you're leaving Disneyland behind - but I'm always looking forward to going back!

I then made good time back to Doncaster, and stopped off at the hospital before going home, where I saw my Mum one last time, though she wasn't conscious at this point. :cry:

I had in a lot of ways made peace with the circumstances by this point.

And that's pretty much my trip. A very emotional ride from start to finish, and Disney couldn't have done more for me this week.

I do have a lot more photo's, these were just the one's I printed for an album, so I will keep posting some more photo's over the coming week or so.

I hope everyone enjoyed the story though.

oh dear I feel really silly now Prince!

I am at work reading your wonderful review and am crying my eyes out :cry:. I am getting strange looks from the other people in the office.

It is wonderful what those cast members did for you. Unfortunatly I cant see the photos on this computer (work computers block them) But I will definatly look at them tonight. But for now I have to go wipe my teary eyes again.

Those pics of me on the last day look a bit dodgy. It looks as though I haven't shaved, and I wasn't going to when I was thinking of coming straight home, but when I decided to go and meet some Princesses, I made a point of shaving so I'd look a bit more presentable. Unfortunately it didn't work! :roll:

I think my best photo was the one with Belle on the Wednesday, I look quite presentable on that - which is a bit strange as I'd been crying my eyes out all night beforehand and all morning.

Looking forward to meeting more Princesses in March though! :D 8)

I've actually just e-mailed DLRP, and I hope this message gets through to them. I really can't ever thank them enough for what they did for me that week.

What a wonderful report. It's so nice what the CMs did to you. I'm sure it must have been magical, even if it turned out because of the sad circumstances. but I'm glad you had those great oppertunitys and wow you have so many Princess pics. And I love the many photos you took from yourself. They all look very beautiful and I'm sure your mother would have liked them very much. And maybe she really is looking down on them and I'm sure she smiles at you, because they make her happy. :wink: Your trip just shows how much Disney means, for most at times when it's really hard to go on. I just loved reading your report and it makes me happy that you got that special treatment. Such a big Belle fan really needed to meet her, get photos and be totally enchanted. :wink: And the photos are all so beautiful, I hope we will see even more of them ?!

Well, when I say outtakes, they are the one's that didn't make my album. I buy a 200 photo album when I go to DLRP, and so 200 prints over the week are selected to go into that. About 600 or more pictures don't make the album, so they're outtakes.

:)

Actually, I selected the wrong pic for one of those Mary Poppins ones and it's the one that actually made the album.

What do you use to host pictures? I used to use Imageshack but have switched to Photobucket which is much more reliable and much quicker. It has a free, bulk upload tool.

As I said before, all your pics are sooooo great. Can't wait for the pics you will take in March next year. :wink: I love the ones from the Aladdin passage, which came out very good comparing to mine. They're all really great photos!! I can never get good photos of the parade, except Fantillusion. That's strange, isn't it, you'd think Fantillusion was hardest to take photos of. What type of camera do you use?

I had a bit of a disaster with my camera on this trip.

I was using a Kodak VS10 I think it was, but on the first day, just a couple of hours before the parade was due to start, I found the camera had broken.

It was a small dual lens camera that because of the dual lens technology, still had a 10x optical zoom. It must have got bashed on Rock N' Rollercoaster as it was fine when I went on, but when I came off all the LCD had gone.

I ended up going up to the Val D'Europe shopping centre and buying a new digital camera. I got a Kodak Z710 which again has a 10x optical zoom (but a normal single lens one) and I think it's 7.3Mp.

When I go anywhere taking photo's I tend to take lots of pictures in quick succession, and then pick out my favourites for printing, albums etc. As you can see, there are a lot of these which I considered to be outtakes.

The first 200 I posted were the ones I got prints of. I then used many of these again, with the odd photo from the others to make up a 64 page photobook from Kodak which I really love. I got one made up of my March photo's too.

Looking forward to returning next year for some more photo's. I know just the perfect spot for parade pics, especially the Princesses, and I'll definitely go and meet the Princesses again to get some more shots like the Belle, Cinderella and Aurora one's.
