Title: HSM: Vanessa Hudgens slips up!
Post by: Anonymous on September 08, 2007, 02:55:43 PM
Surprised no-one else has commented on this yet.

I see a nude photo of Vanessa Hudgens has surfaced on the net, which has been confirmed is not a fake by Hudgens.

I've heard varying reports on this, some of which suggest that she's been replaced in the High School Musical franchise because of this.

I'm not sure if I've got my wires crossed, but it sounds as though Zac Effron, who is her real life boyfriend, could be responsible for releasing the image onto the Internet.

It seems he is a bit of a prima donna in real life and all around unpleasant person, but the worst is he seems to have escaped all this unscathed whereas Vanessa has got ousted from the franchise.

I can understand Disney's viewpoint in wanting to protect the family appeal of the franchise, but surely it would be better to boot them both from what I'm hearing about Effron and get a new pair of stars to continue the franchise. I'm sure they could continue the franchise with Ashley Tidsdale and some new stars.

I have mixed feelings really about her getting the boot, it seems a bit harsh, but it doesn't go down well with the innocent image, and she perhaps should have been more careful about who she trusts. On the other hand, when you look at how people like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton go off the rails, and they seem to get more kudo's for it.

I just hope it doesn't throw her completely off the rails and she ends up doing a Lindsay Lohan.

I really don't like what I've read about this Effron guy though. Sounds to me like Disney should give him the boot too.

that's what i mean, they could get rid of the entire cast and start a fresh with first years (or what ever they call them in the usa) buffy survived without angel (although i nearly didn't :P )

Batman survived without Michael Keaton.

Superman survived without Christopher Reeve.

James Bond survived without Sean Connery.

Doctor Who survived without William Hartnell.

Star Trek survived without William Shatner.

Buffy survived without Kristy Swanson.

The franchise is the key.

exactly

they could have an exchange student (from mexico i.e.diego luna  )
or a dance off seeing as they love grease so much. it may even be the best thing for it.
a month or ago i took my daughter to a local production of it. i feared the worse but my daughter loves the film so much i was willing to suffer. all the performers were between 4 and 16 years old. i was very pleasently surprised the two kids who played troy and gabbys' parts did an excellent job-better in fact so who needs them.
i have seen the picture now and i've seen worse on page 3 but it's just not disney is it

sometimes it's very close. i'm no prude but sometimes the sun thinks it's male readers don't have a lot of imagination. the one i saw seemed a little to posed for me. lets not forget she is only 19,would a 19 year old know how to 'work the camera' cos she didn't know how to hsm1!

Exactly, it doesn't project the sweet, innocent image that Disney wants. Remember, HSM is aimed primarily at a young audience.

Oh come on you can't be telling me Disney honestly will care that much, after all they hired Lindsey Lohan for many movies and look what she's like, this was simply a private picture supposed to stay private.  Really I don't see what all the stupid fuss is about, it's just a tiny tabloid story overblown as usual by the tabloids who would rather see everyone go under.  Remember how the Sun over blew the whole backstage character story from dlrp :x .

It's a bit different to both of those cases really. The whole Lindsay Lohan trainwreck came after her Disney career. The backstage video is just some people in costume goofing around. I've not read anything new on it since Friday, but it does alter the image of the star in the minds of alot of parents. Personally, I don't really care, I think there's nothing more beautiful and nothing wrong with a woman's body, but, I doubt that's how the company execs will see it - and I can understand that position with a franchise like this.

:? Personally, I hope this results in the death of High School Musical. Even non-Disney channels are showing the ads for the sequel, and it's totally doing my head in.

She's an insanely pretty girl though, so no doubt she'll move on to bigger and better things. :o She has a lot more going for her than Lindsay Lohan, so I'm sure she'll survive.

Do you really think it would though? Disney seems to thrive on franchises these days.

Pirates
Pooh
Princesses
Fairies
High School Musical
Clubhouse Mickey
Little Einsteins
National Treasure

Personally, I think all the franchises should be reined in a bit aside from perhaps Mickey & Co, Princesses and Pooh which have all stood the test of time and proven to be perennial favourites.

Completely agree with you there Masamune. Unfortunately we will have it on in the house on Friday!

I've asked Steph/ Elizabeth Swans opinion on all this, she says the general opinion amongst the kids who are all looking forward to HM2 on Friday is that Daniel Radcliffe went on the West End naked at the age of 17, whats the big deal? She could have done it more tastefully, but she made a small mistake and their not holding it against her.

Again, I think it's a bit of a different situation. Daniel Radcliffe was in a West End play, which would have probably not been seen by his young Harry Potter fans. People were probably aware of it.

And no disrespect to your Steph, but it's not the opinions of the kids who are probably the concern. I'm sure there are lots of adolescent boys who are drooling over the prospect of these pictures of Vanessa. But the concern of Disney has probably been what families and parents think of this. I don't think it's a huge deal, but it is a bit of an embarassment for Disney, when they just have the second film debuting and they're trying to push this sweet, wholesome image of Vanessa about, and suddenly this photo appears on the net. It reminds me a bit of the time when Natalie Portman was snapped topless on the beach, just after one of the Star Wars films had been released.

But, I suppose all publicity is good publicity, and I bet it hasn't hurt sales of High School Musical, so in effect, it will probably have the reverse effect.

Maybe Disney should urge the Princesses to do a bit of cross promotion.

   :?

From what I understood the photos weren't taken by Zac Ephron. Some of the HSM fansites are claiming that Zac has split with Vanessa because of the embarrassment the photos have caused him.  The latest rumour is that the photos were taken by Vanessa herself, and sent to Drake Bell. She was under 18 when the photos were taken, which in itself I would think was a real concern for Disney. I believe the Californian age of consent is 18. so these are essentially naked photos of a minor.
Apparently, another boyfriend has come forward to say that Vanessa sent him a naked photo of herself when they broke up. If that story is true, she was 15 at the time. It's all quite sad really, I think.
I feel sorry for parents trying to explain this to their HSM crazy kids.

that's the thing the typical hsm fan wouldn't read the sun and, being so young, wouldn't have access to the type of site this picture appeared on so in 'hsm world' it hasn't happened. the only people who seem to care are those who dislike the whole thing
