Title: Disney Illuminations Sneak Peek
Post by: claire2281 on March 03, 2017, 05:43:23 PM
DLP have put out an animation showing how the opening of Dinsey Illuminations will work.

Obviously isn't the finished product yet but it looks like they've kept the feeling of Dreams which is great.

I hate it  >:( :( :'(

After watching Shanghai's Ignite the Dream on YouTube, I feel that our castle will be overwhelmed by all of the projections and that there will be too much going on to really appreciate it. That's one of the things I loved and still love about Dreams!...compared to the Shanghai monstrosity Dreams is a lot more simple, endearing and beautiful. I'm also annoyed that for our Anniversary, we are getting a copy of the Shanghai show which was more or less a copy of Paris' Dreams! -sigh- I've been really happy with everything to do with the Anniversary so far until now.

But perhaps I'll feel differently once I see it live in person and all of the effects and fireworks are added in.

Does anyone else feel this way? Interested to know!

I'm not looking at it until I saw it in person,  although I skipped trough a video of the Shanghai show when it was quite new. But I don't really remember all the scenes and all the details.

Looks amazing to me. Really nicely mapped to the castle, especially love when the specific parts spin or resize.

@Stormflm595 I understand what you mean, there is a lot going on beacuse of all the particle effects and perspective changes, but when in front of you in person, much larger and in 3d I think it'll be really impressive and immersive :)

I am suprised that no guests or cms have posted the full thing yet, as it has def. been shown to cms to see if everything is working as it should. Maybe guests staying at DLH (castle club) had to vow not to film/post it beforehand? Because something as bright and loud as a nighttime projection show surely wouldn't go unnoticed even late at night when staying in DLH

I am merely hoping the stage will be removed after today, as it takes up quite a lot of space that viewers could occupy /the handicapped viewing location is right next to it)

Well it's a spectacular show. Really stunning. Very different feel from Dreams. This feels more like a celebration of awesome things. Although the Finding Nemo bit still made me cry!

I watched it on YouTube last night at full volume on the TV and I was blown away. I personally love it and think it's just as good as dreams. The star wars and pirates bits were just sensational! I'm itching to see it in person!

I was a bit sceptical about the changing of Dreams.....will be any good, how could it get better......

Watched the live stream last night and I can say that my thoughts were put to bed. The show IMO is better than Dreams. It seems much crisper and the change in themes is a nice change.  I cannot wait to visit it in person and experience the whole atmosphere.

Having rewatched it this morning I think technically it's a LOT better than Dreams. Both the Frozen and Lion King bits are far superior to their Dreams counterparts.

Illuminations still feels much more like a celebration to me - it's meant to make you smile and go 'wow' and enjoy it, not send you into a spiral of emotions like Dreams did.

My next visit is the last week of November, so well into Disney's Christmas celebration.
Does this mean I will miss the new parade and illumination show? or do they usually do both?

I watched the Facebook live stream of it and thought it was amazing! So excited to see it in person.
I do have to say what annoyed me was people complaining about some parts being in French! I don't know about other people but I've got no problem with the French sections, especially because they're some of the most well known Disney clips!

After seeing it live, I have to say it is in fact well done. But still, it does not have the different emotional setups that dreams used to have. It often felt like more of a clipshow if the most popular/current franchises than a coherent story. Also wish the star would have been put to use, I am rather sture it is still sitting behind the twoer window, so bring it back instead of it catching dust
