Title: The best Disneyland Paris hotel/best hotel experience
Post by: norhel on January 23, 2010, 09:05:03 AM
Good morning all!

Just wantet to create a new topic for what you tink is the best Disney hotel and your best hotel experience.
Sorry if this already has a topic (couldn't find it).

I've stayed at Sequoia and Santa Fe and I think the best hotel of those is Santa Fe.
The reason is that I like it better than Seqouia for some reason. Don't now why.

What hotel do you think is best, and what is the best hotel experience do you had?

I would say that the best hotel is the Disneyland Hotel, although I haven't stayed there. We have only been three time to the Santa Fe and we were always very happy with our choice. The rooms were always nice and clean, the breakfast was standard and it was always very quiet.

Once we had a problem with the ventilator in our bathroom and 10 minutes later housekeeping arrived and fixed it. So we can really recommend this hotel.

But next time we want to experience a new hotel and that's the reason why we are trying the Sequoia Lodge.

Nevertheless the best Disney Hotel we have been was the Pop Century Resort at WDW. It is just a Value Resort but I don't know why, this is the Disney Hotel we enjoyed the most.

For me the best Disneyhotel is the Santa Fe. The rooms are o.k. and I can park the car close to my room, because we like to shop and eat outside. Sure some of the other themings are much nicer but I really need only a clean place to sleep, if I go to Disney. Sometimes I miss a minibar or a small fridge in the room.

Hmmmm, sadly the Disneyland Hotel is the only one that delivers the standard of service DIsney was known for (The New York used to, and the SL used to be a great option, but alas no more).

My preferred place to stay in the area is the MArriott Vacation Club on the golf course.

I've been to Santa Fe, Newport Bay Club and Sequoia Lodge, so I only can choose one of those. During the Christmas season Sequoia Lodge is the best, so much atmosphere and lights, it's just magical! During the other seasons Newport Bay Club is my favorite. I like the theme and the hotelrooms are very nice.
I'm going to Cheyenne for my next visit and hope to do New York and Disneyland Hotel in the next two years. I think, in general and quality wise, the Disneyland Hotel is the best, but I haven't had the chance to sleep there.

When I go the Disneyland I always sleep in a Disney Hotel. It's the most magical experience and you can walk to the parks, which I love (a stroll along Lake Disney and then through Disney Village to the parks, amazing!).

As I said a few posts before, we have only been to the Santa Fe and were always happy with our choice. This year we are trying Sequoia Lodge, but for the visits to come, we are thinking about staying in one of the Vienna International Hotels. The hotels look really beautiful and nice and the price is also okay and since it is an Austrian company thev have sometimes very good offers in the travel agencies here.

Last July we stayed in a Vienna International Hotel in Prague and it was great. I would even say it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed. So we are considering these hotels for the next visit. There are only two things that bother me. First you have to use your car or the bus to go to the parks and second you don't get the Extra Magical Hours.

I've stayed at the Santa Fe, Cheyenne, Newport Bay Club, Etap, Explorers and Magic Circus.
My favourite out of the onsite hotels so far is the Santa Fe, but I have my eye on the Hotel New York - love the look of that hotel.
My favourite out of the lot so far though is the Magic Circus - fabulous value for money, and you get way more for your money booking the associated hotels through other agents than Disney. And although its offsite, its the only hotel room we've had where we could see the Studios (ToT) from our window  :D . We have had no problems at all, getting the shuttle buses to and from the associated hotels, any time we've been. You do have to be a little more conscious of time though, as the buses run around every 15-20 minutes.

I voted for the Santa Fe. I've only ever stayed at Davy Crockett Ranch, the Cheyenne and the Santa Fe, and to be honest I was happy with the service I received in each of them! It was close between SF and C, but I went for SF in the end because I like the little outside details that surround the rooms, I also love the vibrancy of the lobby and La Cantina!

Over the last 2 years, hubby, 2 daughters and myself, have stayed at -

Santa Fe, Cheyenne, Davy Crockett Ranch, Disneyland Hotel, Dream Castle and Magic Circus (some more times than others)

Of all the on-site hotels, best for us has to be Santa Fe. But, I have voted for Associated Hotels, as The Dream Castle for us ,was by far better, than most hotels I have ever stayed in.

I voted for the Santa Fe. It is the only hotel we stayed in. My vote may change after we went in April, then it will be the Cheyenne. I`m curios and exited..

weve statyed at the Santa Fe, Cheyenne, Sequoia Lodge, Newport Bay Club, and The Elysee Val D'Europe ( but were staying in the Disneyland in 6 weeks :-) ) Weve liked all of them for different reasons - Santa Fe is cute on a budget, Cheyenne has great theming and fun for my nephews, Sequoia Lodge is great in the winter and has some of what we have found the best cast members, NPBC had a great restaurant in the Cape Cod - we totally loved their buffet, the roast meats were great and dont get me started on the soft poached meringues with butterscotch mmmmmm and the elysee was great for shopping at Val D'europe as its right opposite the mall. Overall I have picked the Seq Lodge because of the cast members.

For me it has to be the Disneyland Hotel , despite being overpriced !! It is overall a perfect Disney hotel, the best hotel experience was being given unlimited Fastpasses on check in , as the receptionist asked how many times we had been to DLP , and realised we were very regular guests !! It made our trip of course , and she got a great compliment on the comment card for going the extra mile !

Explorers for me, although that might be because it was our honeymoon and they gave us a large suite. The 'tropical atrium' at the centre of the hotel works well, plenty of light and the waterfall is a nice touch. It was very clean too, but then it was only a few months old. We enjoyed being just outside of the hustle and bustle of Disney too, and the restaurants and food were good. I don't think not having EMH is a big deal, but I have talked enough about that elsewhere and I'm not bothered about the fantasyland rides. The grounds are improving too, and it has probably one of the best themes of the non-Disney hotels.  Although I want to try all the hotels, I think we will be back here before we finish that.

We have stayed at the following:

DLH - 4 times
HNY - 12 times
NBC - 3 times
SL - 9 times
Cheyenne - 2 times
Santa Fe - 3 times
DCR - 1 time
Holiday Inn (as was) - 9 times
Kyriad - 1 time
Dreamcastle - 1 time
Explorers - 1 time
Marriott Vacation Club Ile de France - 3 times
Raddison SAS - 1 time
And further afield on different occasions.

My preferences are:
$
1. Marriott (awesome villa and grounds)
2. DLH (the only one that feels like a real Disney hotel like in the US, but totally overpriced)
3. Radisson (Great service and facilities)
4. HNY (this used to be No. 1 or 2, but the service, maintence and restaurant changes have ruined the place)
5. Dreamcastle (Nice alternative, and with Dream APs, you can still do EMH)
6. Magic Circus (preferred it when it was Holiday Inn as I could stay for free, ce la vie)
7. Sequoia Lodge (used to be much higher, but they have ruined Hunters Grill with a stupid buffet, maintenance is poor, and it gets crowded)
8. Cheyenne (cute, but overpriced compared to the non Disney options)
9. DCR (Love it, if the cabin is maintained and if they served breakfast earlier)
10. Explorers (hnmmmmm, the pool is cool. But it is too budget English for my liking)

I would not choose the Santa Fe or the Newport Bay Club again unless it is being given away (or virtually).

Hotel New York is great, just very expensive.

The Explorers has a tropical garden? Sounds lovely. I might have to check that out...

The problem with all of the Associated hotels is that bus service, of course. It's like the lifeboats on the Titanic. The Disney hotels are just ridiculously overpriced, as people have pointed out before me. I have stayed in the majority of them, and it was lovely, but these days I can't in good conscience be separated from that kind of money for that little luxury.

My new thing is the Campanile in Bussy-St-Georges. It's conveniently on the way to Paris, and for about a 1000th of what you pay for a Disney hotel, you do get air conditioning, toilet paper folded into a triangle and something nice on your pillow. You can then enjoy lavish dinners, plunder gift shops, visit every museum in the Ile-de-France and take taxis everywhere, and you still haven't spent what you would have on the Newport Bay Club.

It's all plastic I'm afraid but quite nice all the same. Plenty of light gets in and it has a lovely open feel.

I love the New York! I only tried it last October for the first time, and I'm going back for the 3rd time next month! It's great. Rooms are big, breakfast is delicious, the bar is probably my favourite in any Disney hotel, and it's really close to the magic! So don't worry about it Lorange2010!!

But my favourite hotel remains the Disneyland Hotel, that's the one that got my vote... Sure it's overpriced (and it keepts getting more and more expensive!), but I'm always saving for a possible future stay there. Castle Club if possible. Park view room of course. The hotel location is unbeatable, it really is handy having the possibility to quickly go back to your room for a rest, or to leave your shopping! The CM in the DLH are the most helpful I've ever seen (again, particularly in the Castle Club), they really help to make your stay as magical as possible. Then the rooms themselves... well, the normal rooms are really nice. The park view rooms... There's nothing like waking up to a view of the Castle!

So withouth a doubt, and despite their ridiculous prices, DLH for me. If I could, I would stay always there.

I voted for Sequoia Lodge and based my vote on the 3 hotels I've stayed in so far (Sequoia, Cheyenne and Santa Fe).
I would love to stay in the Disneyland Hotel and Hotel New York one day but at the moment they are sadly still rather vastly out of my price range (especially the Disneyland Hotel).

I do like all 3 hotels I've stayed in, and all stays have been pleasant and nothing to complain about, the Sequoia Lodge was just the nicest of the 3 really, which is why I voted for it :)

I have stayed at Santa Fe, Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge and my favourite has to be Santa Fe. :D
Dont get me wrong, sequoia lodge is obviously the most expensive of them all so is the most plush, but its very big and i kept getting lost trying to find the swimming pool! :L I loved SF how its like little apartment buildings and the rooms are lovely, and the theme is really good especially in the breakfast room i just really like it :D Transport to the park is simple thru shuttle bus, or its not a long walk and is nice and scenic through the disney village :D Plus theres internet !
cheyenne i wasnt too keen on.. there didnt seem to be enough seats in the eating areas, and I didn't really like the theme.
Sequoia lodge had a nice bar at night, the workers were lovely and its obviously so close to the disney village, but I didn't like how the breakfast area was split in two, it just wasnt my favourite ;D

if i went again i would like to go in hotel new york to try something new and because of the ice rink outside ! :P (is that still there in winter?) but SF is best value for money in my opinion. :D

New York still has the ice rink yes :)
At least it was there this year, don't know about next year but I can't see them suddenly get rid of it.

QuoteAt least it was there this year, don't know about next year but I can't see them suddenly get rid of it.

They recently replaced the old real ice surface with a new "fake ice surface" at quite some costs, so it is probably there to stay for a while. Actually, they now can also use it in the summer if they want to.

Over the years, I've stayed at all Disney hotels (in Paris) with exception of New Port Bay Club and the ranch, something I noted:

- There really isn't so much difference in quality of the rooms between all the Disney hotels, especially if you don't really mind having a hairdryer, etc.
- The major difference are the hotel amenities like the restaurants (but hey, you can eat at any restaurant you want anyway), overpriced room service and minibar, having a pool and health club facilities (but do you want to use your time at the resort for those kind of things?).
- A major difference: Breakfast: the more expensive hotels usually offer a better breakfast experience. The best one is at the Disneyland Hotel, in the Innoventions restaurant, right after the breakfast at Hotel New York.

So, in the end, the differences aren't that huge. That said, my favorite hotel is Hotel New York, because it is close to the Village and the two parks. Actually, I think for someone who wants to spend some time after the parks have closed, this hotel is even better situated than the Disneyland Hotel, right at the end of the Village. And, the bar in this hotel is great. Additionally, it isn't as insanely overpriced as the Disneyland Hotel.

The second choice would be Sequoia Lodge. For the basics (room, bed, etc.), this hotel isn't really better or worse than any other on property hotel, but I really like the rustic feel of it. The major downside is the breakfast, it seems like there are quite some capacity issues here. Last time I stayed there, I got rostered into a breakfast schedule, which I didn't really appreciate. The nicest place in the hotel is the Redwood Bar and Lounge, with its large open fireplace. Also, this hotel is reasonably close to the Village and parks, at least if they don't put you in one of the lodges.

Hotel SantaFe is the longest walk of the Disney hotels, but the difference with Hotel Cheyenne is just minimal. It's actually the only hotel that offers parking in front of your hotel room (so motel would probably be more fitting). In my opinion, this hotel is OK, but at a shared bottom together with Hotel Cheyenne.

here is my hotel Ranking:

Sequia Lodge ( beatiful hotel, good service, breakfast not too crowded, best price/performance ratio)
Davy Crockett Ranch (really beatiful in summer, cooking opportunity, cheap)
Newport Bay Club( reeeally beatiful Hotel, but a bit too high priced)
Chayenne (really nice hotel, lovely scenery, cheap, a bit too crowded with breakfast)
Santa Fe (very cheap hotel and therefore very crowded, not my favorite choice)

would love to stay eventually at the disneyland hotel some time , although it is too highly priced.
the castle club would be great, too. although it is so highly priced it would be great to have the castle club privileges.
vip fastpass!!! uuuuhhh

I have only stayed in Cheyenne and hotel new York so of these two my
vote goes to hotel new York! We loved everything about the hotel - the themeing, the room, and especially the location!
This year we are staying at the Newport bay club and I am looking forward to trying a different hotel (plus it offered 40% off where hny only had 30%...)
but I would definitely recommend hny to anyone. Hopefully one day I will stay at dlh maybe then I'd change my
vote!

After first visiting Disneyland Paris at an early age of three, i've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel seventeen times including once in the Castle Club and also once in Disney's Newport Bay.

I think it's clear to say that the Disneyland Hotel is far better than any other Disneyland Hotel.
The quality delivered is of a much greater standard and the hotel staff are more than welcoming, the nightly bonsoir's and consistent attempts to ensure you enjoy your stay adds to the overall magic of the Disneyland Hotel.

I can't really think of a better experience for the younger ones, you can be sure to find almost a handful of characters awaiting you at the entrance to character breakfast (inc. Mickey and Minnie) something which doesn't always happen in the other hotels! In fact, i'm pretty sure when i stayed in Disney's Newport Bay i didn't see a single character, slightly disappointing seeing as i was around twelve at the time.

I agree that the Disneyland Hotel is very costly, but you have to remember that the price includes your park hopper tickets and breakfast. When i recently visited central Paris our hotel was around the same price for a standard room in a 4* Hotel and no additional extras were included.

The Disneyland Hotel is by far my best hotel experience and i'm looking forward to returning for the New Generation Festival in June...

And a final note, if you opt' against staying in the Disneyland Hotel, why don't you go and experience the restaurants and bar? From my experience they're a reasonable price and the quality is excellent.

hm... at the moment my choice is the Sequoia Lodge, because i have stayed there most, i love this hotel, i have also stayed in the NPBC and am sad to say i have to disagree with most people on this hotel i hated it, the food was the only part about the hotel i liked, however i think i dislike the hotel so much because both times i have stayed there i have had bad experiences (not anything to do with the resort or park, but the people i was with) and therefore tend to only be able to remember how tired and grumpy i was when i was there, so in all my least liked hotel, i have also stayed int he dream castle and the explorers hotel both are very nice only ever stayed there once though, but my option for best hotel might change after my next visit when i am staying in the disneyland hotel =]

I've stayed at:

Cheyenne - Pretty good. Fun themeing, comfortable.

Davy Crockett - Nice to have your own cabin but a little 'meh' in standards. My heater didn't work and the decor was getting grotty.

Disneyland Hotel - Beautiful rooms. Great service. Smells of talc. Clearly the best.

I'm really tempted to go back at xmas but since I'm already staying at DLH once this year (this time next week!), I'm thinking of trying Sequoia Lodge. It looks nice and does seem to have a good rep from most.

I personally think the DLH is overated for the price.  Yes its a lovely hotel and I enjoyed staying there but I wouldn't pay there to stay again.

I love the Cheyenne and I would stay there over and over again, I love the Cowboy Wild West feel and theming and my Daughter loves the bunk bed.

HNY is a great place to stay if you can't afford the DLH, the rooms were large and I found the hotel really homely and bright.  If I had the money I would pay to stay here.

Newport Bay was a nice hotel but the whole set up was a bit to big for me, 15mins to find my room was not amusing.

I would only stay at the Santa Fe if I was doing a budget trip, Its a ok hotel for a place to sleep I just don't like the theming and having a volcano right by our room (fake of course) freaked my Daughter out.  When we stay here next Feb I will have to make sure we are away from any volcanos.

So my vote obv goes to the Cheyenne.

Only done the Sequoia Lodge on both visits to date, but was impressed enough to book it again for our next visit. Although our 1st visit was a bit spoiled with a very loud family next door who would keep us up very late and wake us up very early    But 2nd time round was no problems. I love the decor of the rooms, and the feel of the place when you enter it with the dark wood and the log fires.

I may try and have a look at some of the other hotels while we are there in Jan, definitely tempted to take a walk over to Santa Fe and have a go at the tex-mex buffet which sounds reasonable from what I have seen on the Internet.

I agree completely! We stayed our first trip at Santa Fe and our second trip at Seqouia Lodge and I was very disspointed. When we stayed at Santa Fe the room had recently been refurbished so it was very clean, tidy and well kept. Breakfast was crowded but the food was good. When we stayed at Seqouia Lodge our room was dreadfully tatty, the carpet was stained, it was in desperate need of a refurb, and I have to say, not the standard I would have expected of a Disney Hotel. Breakfast was not as crowded but the food was basically the same as Santa Fe. I was gutted - I couldn't really see what benefit I had got from paying for a more expensive hotel! (Other than a 5 mins shorter walk to the park!)

I've only stayed at the Cheyenne, Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay and of those my favourite is the Sequoia Lodge, hence why I've stayed there 3 of the 6 times I've been so far. This December, though, I'll be staying in the Santa Fe, and I've always wanted to stay in the New York but could never afford it (student). My best mate is getting married in Lake Como in 2012 though and as a treat for going to Italy to get wed his future Mrs is gonna sort out for us to stop at DLP on the way back for a little Groom and Best Man do DLP action. I'll be working by then so hopefully we can stay at New York :D I hope!!

We did the NBC for Christmas 2006, we had a room on the Admirals floor, lake view (if you look at the hotel from the lake it's the one on the far left of the 3 with balconies in the "bump" at the very top/centre) and have to say that was pretty awesome. We took one of those xmas trees with built in lights/baubles etc, put the pressies under that, xmas day we had room service breakfast while we opened pressies, then down to the park - no crowds either!. As a bonus, when we checked in and the chap at the desk (mohammed I think) found out how many times we had been, he whispered to his manager/whover she was and came back with vouchers to the captains quarters for the duration of our stay, no crowds and waitress service almost like the DLH. I would vote for that but the DLH was fantastic, they made us the Crystal Family when we stayed there and got fussed over during our stay, there was even a line of staff outside our room door when we went to the room for the first time - male/female/male/female and they all curtsied and bowed as we approached the room - wifey blubbered of course :P ........ BUT!! - my personal overall favourite is the Davy Crockett Ranch, I just love the place, I swear I could live in one of those cabins :)
