Title: Pin Trading: Your Disney Store UK wishlist
Post by: Masamune on September 25, 2009, 11:44:32 AM
:D This is just a thread to discuss pins you would love to see at a Disney Store near you in the future. Who knows, maybe a UK Disney Store pin designer will see this topic and make our wishes come true!

Here's my top 10 of characters I'd love to see in UK Disney Pin form.

Edit:  It's now top 11, because I need to add Up pins.

1. Gaston ( There's not enough Gaston pins, which is why I've listed him first! )
2. Cheshire Cat ( :P On his own! Although I do love the existing one with Alice. )
3. Scar ( :( If only he would've been on the Lion King Anniversary pin. )
4. Chernabog ( Or anything Fantasia related other than Sorcerer Mickey )
5. Kevin ( Or anything Up related )
6. Zero ( Or anything Nightmare Before Christmas related )
7. Ratigan ( Again, not enough Ratigan pins! )
8. Jessica Rabbit ( ;) Yes please. )
9. Dumbo ( Dumbo pins are always insanely cute! )
10. Shere Khan ( To go with the up-coming Baloo pin. )
11. Gideon ( I just really want a pin of that funny little cat. I love seeing him at DLRP! )

And this next list is just a few ideas for accessories/series/etc that I would like to see too!

1. Pin Bag and/or Book ( =P I'm running out of space! )
2. Jumbo pins ( Don't know how much they would charge for them, but still. )
3. Disney pets series ( Figaro, Cleo, Nana, Lady, etc. )
4. Disney sea creatures series ( Monstro, Bruce, Nemo, Flounder, etc. )
5. Booster sets ( Hopefully at a decent price. )

3. Cheshire Cat
4. Oliver
5. Figaro
6. Lucifer
7. Duchess
8. Mrs Potts
9. Gaston
10. Jessica Rabbit.

As you can probaly tell apart from Beauty and the Beast my favourite characters are the cats.

I totally agree about all the accessories - bags, medals etc and some starter sets, booster packs, jumbo pins would all be brilliant too!! =D>

I too love the idea of the pets series masamune!! =D>

I would like to see- pin wise:

1. A rescuers pin
2. Dug (from UP) pin
3. Pocahontas pin or her or Meeko
4. Hunchback of notre dame pins esp Esmeralda
5. Princesses but in their first dress in the movie - e.g. cinderella in her rags type clothes, belle in her blue dress etc although because there are so many of ariel just as the mermaid I would prefer her in one of her human outfits!
6. Characters dressed as other characters e.g. donald as robin hood or minnie as Alice!
7. Fox and the Hound pin
8. Lion king pins

Also would like to see special pins released for holidays like halloween, christmas etc

Perhaps even some instore pin trading events or something would be good also! :D

@ Belle - :P I'm a big fan of Disney cats as well.

@ Clare - :D Thanks! Out of your list I'd want Pegasus the most, then Djali! In regards to a Halloween pin, wouldn't it be great if they made one as a Surprise Release? I'm not a huge fan of Surprise Releases, as sometimes you end up missing them! That would certainly be better than nothing though.

@ Aveen - :o Thanks to you too! I love the series of Disney Pet magnets they did, so I thought a pin series would be good too. Out of your list, I think I'd like a Rescuers pin the most, then Dug! Actually, I need to edit Up pins on to my list now that I've seen it.

Oh and I would also love to see pins of characters dressed as other characters, I love those sort of pins! I only realised a day or two ago that I forgot to get daisy dressed as maleficent before I went home from my trip :(  aw well lol!

Oh and as claire said Briar rose.. ok I need to edit my list now lol!

some stores already do this, It might be a good to approach your store to ask about this as I would think it is down to the managers discretion as to when and how many of these events they hold

:) The Manchester Arndale store has started doing Pin Trading mornings every 2 weeks on the days that new pins are released. I haven't been able to go to one yet, because each Saturday I've been working. I've got next Saturday off though, so hopefully they'll be doing one then since the 24th is when the next lot of pins are released!

Are they for trader to meet other traders?  :)

:) Yup. There's actually a FaceBook group specifically for the Manchester store. It was made by one of the Manchester Cast Members, so he posts info about when the next Pin Trading morning will be. I've made a few friends on that group, so it'll be really nice to meet them and trade pins.

:D I met one of them the other day (the lady named Elaine who I told you about). It'll be cool to just stand and chat about pins with other people who like them. Despite how sad we may look to other people in the shop.

Robin Hood pin update: Semi-good news! Although the seller hasn't responded to the e-mail I sent on Thursday ( :x which is rather annoying, as they've managed to list new stuff but couldn't be bothered replying to my message ), the pins were marked Dispatched as of today. So with any luck, maybe I'll actually recieve them tomorrow or Monday! If they're going to arrive at all, I'm just praying that it's before next Thursday, as that's when the proper postal strikes begin!

Hey,

I really hope the pins arrive soon then, I hate when the seller doesn't communicate well!  Mine still haven't arrived, although I contacted the seller and he emailed back with a tracking number saying that it seems to have been tracked until the 12th of October and that it must be delayed but if it doesn't come in the next few days to let him know. I am actually thinking of possibily reselling the pins I bought...not sure though. I hope both our pin purchases arrive asap! I hate postale strikes, I wish they would just give the postal men and women what they want because they usually do a good job! :P

That's really great about the pin trading events in the manchester store. Unfortunately there's not really enough interest over here so that doesn't happen :( , I hope you get to meet some more of the friends you have made at the next in store event! :D

I recieved my complementary UP pin today :D/ , I have to say it is lovely and as you said it's quite large! I really do think that if they had of released it as a core pin it would have done well. I am glad to have it :D

hmm tough one as I only really collect stitch now but like I said you on saturday masamune I was going to get all disney classic dvd main characters :P

so my top 10 -

1. Kevin from UP
2. Other experiments from lilo and stitch
3. Alpha from UP
4. Rafiki (Lion king)
5. more stitch pins :)
6. Joanna from Rescuers down under
7. Mushu (or any Mulan characters)
8. Nightmare before xmas (oogie boogie first :P)

only have 8 really as hard to think when I really just want stitch lol But as I was talking to Masamune on saturday Id like to see Jumbo pins appear at the disney store. Also I would like to see other types of Lanyards at the disney store as the two available are not very appealing to me as Im new I had to ebay my deluxe stitch lanyard for £30 worth it I say as the 2 pin lanyard at disney store is £10 so bargain I think lol

And I would also like to see the likes of booster sets or even limited edition boxed pins as I saw a beautiful stitch/jumba in capture pods on saturday was very nice.

I'd like some more Chip and Dale and a few other pins over here:

Chip and Dale roasting chestnuts on an open fire for Christmas,
Pluto in a kennel,
Pirates of the Caribbean (Barbossa!),
Donald Duck captaining a ship,
Dug from UP with light in his collar,
And an imagineering around the world series.

And perhaps some celebrating Disney outside the UK or jumbo pins? I'm sure they'll start coming once it's properly established.

PS: Most of our pins are not very intricate are they?

Everyone has come up with some really great ideas. Supporting characters should be on pins as well as main characters. I think it would be nice to have 1 classic pin and 1 new generation pin out every month so hopefully everyone would be happy.

I'm not a pin collector but getting more interested in Disney merchandise generally and sometimes browse ebay.
Found loads of Toulouse and Berlioz pins, they are in the USA but still very cheap, you probably already know about them but just in case youre interested heres the link

I would want more aristocats pins as we only have Marie which is odd to just have the one. need duchess and berlioz and toulouse and then you'd need rodfurd the mouse (dunno how you spell his name) Frufru the horse, Thomas O Mally, scat cat and his gang of alley, the two guard dogs to name a few XD

Hey guys, i only started pin trading in october when i was at DLRP and got totally hooked! Then i came back to the UK and i was shocked at the lack of pins!!! So here is my top 10 pin related things i would like to see:

1. More exciting Stitch pins ie. him with his ducks or dressed up as a character
2. Cars pins, mostly the 3 main racers: Lightning, Chick and The King
3. Different lanyards, instead of the plainish red one with Disney Store on it
4. Lion king pins, I'd love it if they would do a Timon and Pumbaa hula pin!
5. Pin bags, as we all need space to store our pins, but don't charge loads for them!
6. Toy Story pins for the run-up for Toy Story 3!
7. LE pin sets actually in the store would be nice!
8. More holiday pins, ie. Christmas, Halloween
9. More iconic Pixar pins, ie. Luxo Jr, The Incredibles
10. Pin Trading nights would be brilliant, as I've already mentioned in another thread

I hope people agree with me on some of these, so there can be a better pin trading experience in the UK!

6 Angel (stitch)

8 Lotso

OMG a wish list for pins..hmmm.

Quote from: "Masamune" :o OMG I would love a pin of Joanna or Marahute.

That is so weird because I was walking home from work last night thinking exactly the same thing.

But I'd love to see the following characters as well.
Evinruud (I can't spell his name but he's the dragonfly from the rescuers)
Any of the characters from Pixar short Boundin but especially the Owl because he makes me laugh.
The same with For the Birds.
The little rabbits from Robin Hood.
The squirrels from Sword in the stone
Cleo
The goldfishes from Fantasia
Blaze from Tinkerbell
Achilles
Squeaks from the fox and the hound
Bruce, Chum and the other shark from Nemo
Marsupilami

I'm sure that there are more but can't think of any for now so will probably add them later

Great ideas everyone! :)
My wishlist so far is,
wardrobe from beauty and the beast, maybe you can open the doors...
Also a feather duster pin and a footstool, and a new pin for lumiere, chip, cogsworth and mrs potts.
More toy story 3 pins, like one of chunk and and twitch would be very cool.
A bugs life pins Especially one of Rosie ( i have never seen of her on her own.
A scuttle pin and a floatsam and jetsam pin.
A new pin of hercules, hades, meg, zeus, phil and pain and panic.
A Quasimodo pin and an Esmerellda pin.
Maybe they could have a new collection for just the Villains which should include a Gaston, maleficant, evil queen, cruella, ursulla and all the others.

I hope you like my suggestions i will probably add some new ideas later.

I just wish they would start to take pin trading seriously in the UK...

*Surprise releases (if that is what tink was meant to be?) that actually make it into every disneystore instead of ones that they pick out of a hat.

*Release dates that don't change every week   (woody pin badge is not making it to any of my 4 local Disney stores)

*Go back to new releases every 2 weeks.

*CM's in store that are kept informed on pin releases.

I cant agree with you more Clarebelle.

Its not fair when we have waited an extra week for the Woody pin for not all stores to get it at the same time which from the delay of 4 weeks you would think they would have enough to send to all stores by now.

Im annoyed that the new pins are not even released online yet which it states on the coming soon section it will be released today Sept 10th and its 11.30am and still not available to buy..you would think they'd make it available at 9am or at latest 10am.

Its looking like they are not taking it seriously at all  -

*online releases not out right away
*releases getting delayed multiple times
*select stores getting certain pins (and they dont include Ireland EVER!!)

I am quite astonished how long this Woody pin has taken to be released!!

I went to my local Solihull store yesterday to stock up on some pins and do a few trades and they said that the Woody pin would be in tomorrow morning's delivery and that I may be able to buy it early. When I checked the website last night I see they are not going to receive it until the 16th!!

I really would like to see pins released every 2 weeks, but the current release dates are so hit and miss.

Another thing is that when I asked the store if they have many people come in to trade they said I was the first person for about three months!! They had some really good UK store pins such as Thumper, Stitch Dome, Name Badge Hidden Mickeys, Ariel, 2008 Minnie. I was really shocked, when I have been to the Birmingham store they have had a terrible choice! I wish they would promote the pin trading more and host more events like the Milton Keynes event, a large crowd of people would draw interest from the general public for a start!!

Come on Disney Uk!!

Yes more events with more notice please!

and have they even properly advertised the BOGOF?  they aren't in Norwich or Cambridge, and have heard that some CMs are letting you pick any of the BOGOF pins when you buy any pin.

and has anyone seen the new core tink pin in their local DS? i'd love to know if it is still available

I emailed Disney this morning asking for clarity on a few subjects ,will report back if they get back to me.

Well done for emailing them!!  =D>  =D>

I went to the Birmingham store a few weeks back and received one of the bogof pins for every pin I bought. I managed to get things such as Stitch Treasure LE and receive Mulan for free. However at Solihull yesterday there was a poster (small) above the pins saying BOGOF, buy one pin  get the same free. One to keep, one to trade.

Haven't seen the Tink pin myself, was going to buy a few for DLRP...

I sent disney an email saying if I conducted a survey of characters we (the buyer) woudl like to see made for us as pins etc and I got a reply saying they wouldnt be able to use such information as its not carried out by themselves and to check facebook for any updates..

I find it hard to believe that they depend on facebook to let people know about events such as new stores openings etc etc..I missed out on the new Belfast store opening since they did it on a monday and it would of took me 6+ hours to get there since Im in Cork..its plain rubbish.

Went in especially last Saturday to get the Woody pin only to be told that they hadn't sent them and that they Might be in on Monday!!!!
Went in Monday and they had them so I bought four in two seperate cash transactions.

I made a comment about trading and was told that there wasn't really any interest any more.
I pointed out that that was because there is no advertising or promotion about it and was told "But we have the bogof poster up, (A4 size above the pins which are on a gondola facing the sale section. Not prominent)
I said that that was not what I meant. They don't always wear the lanyards and the small pin board is now behind the counter. No attempt has been made to really attract traders in. But then again our store is highly neglected.
The team there are excellent save one who has now gone :D.
Now that person is gone the atmosphere has drastically changed, i.e everyone's happy. They may be short staffed but they all try their best. Unfortunately Pin trading gets neglected

They all have their own wishlists although majority all want more Stitch :)
