Title: N2O comes out to socialise Halloween trip 11-13 Oct COMPLETE
Post by: never2old on October 16, 2009, 08:32:01 AM
... coming soon   !

We got back Tuesday night after a great trip to DLP, of course it was not long enough and it was over too soon, and since then I've been dealing with serious withdrawal issues (and a lot of work). It's been a bit of a nightmare (before Christmas... lol... sorry couldn't help it   ) at work, plus I came back with a bit of a cold, so I haven't had much time to start  looking at the pictures (only took about 1300   one would think I'd never been there before...).

All pictures are now in the computer and being imported into iPhoto as we speak, so hopefully I can get them online and start a proper trip report soon.

In the meantime, here's a video of Minnie's Party Train... I like the pumpkin men, I like the song (apart from Minnie's voice, that is), but the train itself... Well, I miss Mickey's blue train... At least his train could handle the orange pumpkins better   My niece and nephew loved it, though, and to be honest, I was quite happy to see it every time!

But judge for yourself. Available in HD if you prefer...

Great video - I love Chip n Dales ghost costumes! Better characters than the regular party train that we saw in September.
The pumpkinpeople look fab, I would love to go at Halloween. Can't wait to see your full report :)

I cannot wait to read your report...

1300 photo... YAY, I beat you with my 1490 which are already in Aperture :P All kidding aside it is very easy to take thousands of photos even though you have been there before - the magic never ends!

Honestly, I don't think I could take less pictures!! I could have taken a lot more, but on the last day everyone wanted to get as many rides as possible, so they didn't like me stopping too much to take pictures (selfish, selfish people     )

I'll try to start going through them tonight so that I can start publishing some soon...

Glad you all liked the video  :D !

I'm looking forward to that =D>

Day -1

This was a very special trip for us. Not just because it was Halloween, but mostly because my brother in law, his wife and their two kids were coming with us (and it was their first trip ever  :D ). They were coming for 1 night and two days only (not to make the kids miss 2 days of school....), we were staying for an extra night. After we booked (way back in April, I think it was, with one of their special offers), our neighbours (and good friends) got jealous and decided to join us  :D So it was a rather bigger group than we're used to, with 8 of us (with 6 adults and 2 children, but really, it was all for the kids...   )

Now as you may have gathered by now, we like to go and stay near the magic on the night before, so that we can make the most of our stay (and not having to drive for 3 hours before starting a day in the parks). And for a big party of 8, the best option we found was to stay at the Marriott Village, which we had never tried before and which I heartily recommend to everyone!

So we decided to make the most also of the Saturday, and met up at the Marriott around lunchtime. Unfortunately our neighbours could only come later in the evening, so it was just the 5 of us.

The villa was not ready yet so we went for lunch in the Disney Village (where else!), and (again purely for the kids, you understand), we decided to go for Cafe Mickey!

Now, with hindsight, it may not have been the best idea, because my niece Zara (she's 5 years old), who'd never seen a character before, got really scared! As soon as we sat down, Mickey came to see us (here he is with my sister in law and my nephew Sam)

but Zara wouldn't go anywhere near him! (she said he was huge ...). And after that, whenever a character came around she went straight under the table...

So she missed Minnie...

...Chip & Dale...

and Donald...

Still, we all had fun (even Zara, whenever there was no one near...)

After lunch and a quick look around the shops, we headed back to the Marriott (stopping to buy some stuff for dinner first) and made ourselves at home...

(//http://lh5.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/Stie_4wxHsI/AAAAAAAAJZE/dfP0hHLdUlc/s288/PA100016.JPG)(//http://lh5.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/Stie-YV_HbI/AAAAAAAAJZA/0HCGs8Jwavg/s288/PA100015.JPG)(//http://lh5.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/StifBVTPJRI/AAAAAAAAJZI/Lo93h0wImZo/s288/PA100017.JPG)

We had a 3 bedroom villa and it was perfect. The three bedroom were all nice and big, with flat screen tvs, ipod docks, and of course three bathrooms. Really nice!

And the locals were quite nice too

And a couple of pigeons
(//http://lh3.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/StifVbA5bOI/AAAAAAAAJaI/dugzHQf_BVY/s800/IMG_3456.JPG)

We had a lovely dinner (our neighbours arrived just on time), but didn't stay up too long, since Sunday was going to be an early one (our goal was to leave before 8am)...

First day in the parks coming soon!

What a lovely start to your report with some great photos :)

The Marriott Village seems very nice and how nice to go to Disney Village for lunch even though your niece was scared :)

Cannot wait for more

Thank you all!

Yes, those pigeons were a bit freaky...

Anyway, Sunday, after an early start to the day (everyone up by 7am.... I was already awake before that though, waaaaay too excited to sleep   ), we said our goodbyes to our beautiful villa, and went straight to our next destination: Hotel New York!!

Day 1 - Sunday 11th October

First thing that hit me, when we got into the reception, was the smell... Very similar to the one in the Disneyland Hotel (possibly even the same?  :-k ), but it was lovely! Make you feel all warm inside...

Our rooms were not ready, but we got our tickets for the parks. But before heading out, one last stop, for Minnie! She was in the lobby, so I took my niece, promised to hold her so she wouldn't be scared, and took her to meet Minnie... At first she was a bit shy, but she ended up shaking her hand and even giving her a kiss!

After that, she was more than willing to go and meet all the characters!  :D

If was finally time to go to the parks!

Even before entering, the Halloween music was all we could hear...

How many years have they had this thing? They should at least change the dates: Halloween season it's not from 3 October to 1 November...

The work never ends in Main Street
(//http://lh5.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/StiqtT53kBI/AAAAAAAAJcA/A3-swe2awR0/s400/PA110051.JPG)

I love Halloween, I love the decorations, and I really liked them this year. They were very present in Town Square, there were a few pumpkin men here and there along Main Street (and some orange paint and orange steps in the ground), but most of the decorations have been moved to Frontierland, leaving Main Street almost untouched - no decorations hiding the beauty of the Main Street buildings!

This one I don't like at all... At least last year it was more hidden, in the entrance to Frontierland!

It was already almost 9am, and we wanted to start the day with Peter Pan  :peter:  So we slowly made our way up Main Street, towards Fantasyland. We were a bit worried about the queues, since the park seemed crowded, but we didn't need to worry: there was no wait at all in Peter Pan, so all aboard, and here we go!!!

And it was great! It was very smooth, not too fast, London looked great, and of course flying in the stars was as magical as ever. Everyone loved it  :D

I wanted to go on another dark ride, but a bit of a shock there, the list of rides now open during the EMH has been seriously cut down! In Fantasyland, only Peter Pan and Dumbo were open (the Cups should have been but they were working on them when we arrived). So slightly disappointed, we headed towards Discoveryland, where Buzz and the Space Mountain were waiting for us, again with very little queues.

Had the first go of the trip in Buzz Lightyear (again a huge success with everyone, it's so much fun! And we all had good guns, which helped with the scores...), we headed to Space Mountain... My sister in law stayed behind with Zara, but Sam decided he was brave enough to try it (his first rollercoaster ever).  This was my second time with contact lenses (so I could see all what's inside, it really makes the ride a lot better), and again I thought that everything was working great, particularly the speakers! It may not be as good as the first soundtrack, but personally I love the music to Mission 2  :D

By now it was almost 10, so everyone decided to go on Star Tours. Personally I love the ride but for the last few years I haven't been able to go on it, I get really sick in it  :(  so I stayed in the shop with Zara. And since I didn't have her parents around to tell me I was spoiling her, I got her the pink ears she wanted

Sam didn't want to be left out:

After Discoveryland, we started making our way to Frontierland...

On the way we run into some pumpkin folk (and Minnie's train). The pumpkin men and women are absolutely brilliant!

And Frontierland!

As I said, some of the decorations have been moved from Main Street to Frontierland, which is a great improvement!

After getting some fastpasses for BTM (they were for 30 minutes later, how perfect is that  :D  They also had new FP machines, where you swipe your ticket instead of it being swallowed by the machine, I'll post some pictures later), we went to one of the best rides ever: Phantom Manor!

On the way we run into some friends:

One for Javey:

See how happy Zara is? No more hiding under tables for her

Phantom Manor had no queue at all (just how we like it), so we went straight in. Zara was a bit worried about it being too scary, but quite soon she let go of my hand and started laughing and really enjoying the ride. The only thing, when we got to the ballroom scene, we lost all sound... It only lasted a few moments (but it rather ruined the ballroom for me). On the plus side, there weren't too many flashes during the ride, which was a lovely change!

This was actually a giant skull!

And these were actually a bit scary...

We still had a bit of time before our FP, so we went for a cruise in the Molly Brown (which was just boarding, really perfect timing  :D )

My neighbour   :

And after Molly Brown, Thunder Mountain!!

Last time I'd done it was in June, when all water effects were running, so this time it was a lot drier   But still a lot of fun. This is really my favourite rollercoaster. It's pure fun. Non stop fun. Perfect fun.

It turns out though, it wasn't fun for everyone... Zara didn't like it at all, she was terrified! So no more rollercoasters for her....

When we came out, I saw there was a short queue to meet Jack and/or Sally (that's what they said in the schedule....) Last year they were meeting people in Boot Hill, now they'd been moved to Cottonwood Creek. They had a nice meet & greet location, and it was definitely better set up for queuing,  but Boot Hill was definitely more atmospheric...

In the line for the meet 'n' greet:

After a very short wait, Mr Jack Skellington made his appearance!

Happy Face...

... and Scary Face!

Day 1 continues soon!

Yes, it was definitely a good move! Maybe next year even Town Square will be more subtle... But overall it was a great improvement  :D

Yes the giant skull in Town Square should be removed - then it would be as close to perfection as possible.

Your new installment is great - we had a Meet'n'Greet with Jack on Tuesday - he interacted very good with people, don't you think?

Yes! He was really taking the time with everyone, he was perfect as Jack!

Did you see Sally? We run into her around Cottonwood Creek a couple of times, she was wandering off, picking flowers for a little girl, and simply being Sally. At one point Jack came to pick her up (I think they were leaving), but that was the only time we saw them together. I thought they were a really lovely couple!

After meeting Jack, we were starting to be a bit hungry... We went to Hakuna Matata, my first visit ever! Very yummy, will definitely be going back! Plus they kept playing music from The Lion King  :D

We came out to this:

They were brilliant! Great atmosphere  :D

By now it was almost time for the Witches Dancing Spells Party, so having no idea what to expect, we headed back to Cottonwood Creek. The show was not on Monday or Tuesday, so I really wanted to catch it on Sunday.

We should have gone earlier because they have some seats in front of the stage, of course by the time we got there they were all taken. But we found a spot on the side, the children could even sit and still get a good view, so not too many complaints. I tried to film it (haven't even looked at it yet), but the woman in front of me decided as soon as the show started that her kid should stand up (he didn't seem particularly bothered), but she kept blocking my view.

It was not bad. Not wanting to spoil it for everyone, it involves the two witches casting spells and controlling the dancers (which were really good). It did seem to go on a bit, though (even the kids were getting bored, they only woke up when at the end they gave out some candy). I preferred the Villains show they had on last year, but at least the dancers were really good (at least I liked them!)

After the show, and to wake up the adults (other than me) who hadn't really been watching the show, we went for Indiana Jones. There was a 20 minute queue, way too long    so we got some fastpasses for a bit later, and headed across Adventure Isle to probably the best ride ever, Pirates of the Caribbean, where the queue was a very reasonable 10 minutes (which turned out to be 5). On my next life, I want to be an animatronic in POTC  [-o<  I don't think I'll ever get tired of this ride, it's absolutely brilliant.

After Pirates it was time for our Indiana Jones FP. I think I now know what the problem is with the ride. It's too short. The beginning is a bit slow and boring, and as soon as you start going a fit faster, get to the loop and start really enjoying it, it finishes. They should take you around twice in a row, that should help...

Anyway, after that it was back to Fantasyland

I love this sign:

We had a go on Snow White (the abridged version, my friends said, because they're missing half of the story   ), but Pinocchio had 20 minutes, and frankly, with all the long queues we'd done so far (nothing more than 10 minutes), it did seem like too much... I should have insisted (at the end we NEVER went on Pinocchio   ), but everyone was starting to feel a bit tired and they didn't want to queue at all.

We went for a coffee (and yummy cakes) to the Cable Car Bake Shop. They had a lot of Halloween cakes, I went for the werewolf cupcake:

Words cannot describe how good that was!!! The chocolate topping/werewolf was yummylicious....

Since people were still tired (amateurs   ) we decided to go back to the New York Hotel, get our rooms, and have a little rest before coming back for the parade. So we left via the Discovery Arcade, back to the hotel

And even though they kept saying they were tired, they actually took the time to admire some of the models they have there... It's hard not to really!

The parade & end of day 1 coming soon! (my husband is waiting for me to start dinner   )

Well, another great report and some good photos. We didn't get to see the Witches show but although it seems like fun, I think we will survive :)

Pirates is one of my favorites too and it was in perfect conditions right now :)

Brilliant report and photos so far!

I think your niece and nephew are so cute! I am glad Zara ended up liking meeting the characters, bless her!

I have a niece and nephew too but they are so young (niece only 7 weeks old and nephew about 19 months old) but looking at your report I just cannot wait till they are older and I can take them to Disney and spoil them hehe!! :D  :D  :D

Can't wait to read and see more! :D

I also love PotC, it's one of my favourite rides too.
And Indiana Jones was better when it went backwards.
Great photos and report again!

Thank you all  :D

Here's the end of day 1

After a rest in the hotel (too quick for some, too long for me who wanted to get back as soon as possible   ), we headed back to DLP, in time for the parade.

The Halloween pre-parade is great, again thanks to the pumpkins... And having the Old Hag was a nice surprise!

This one was blowing me a kiss   while I was filming (I'll post the video soon). I should mention as well, since I was filming, these pictures were all taken by my husband
(//http://lh6.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/StitgnAjD_I/AAAAAAAAJgQ/oPcKBnlOpVM/s800/P1000317.JPG)

A few minutes later, the OUAD parade made its way to us. The Dreams of Adventure float was out (I really missed Baloo), and Belle was alone without Beast (it's not the first time I've seen that, do they fight a lot or what  :P ?)

As I said, no Beast for Belle
(//http://lh6.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/StiuVJD1xyI/AAAAAAAAJiI/OrDpq7rRC0g/s800/P1000387.jpg)

The kids loved the parade (Zara was very excited because Cinderella waved at her, and she's her favourite princess), and so did the adults.

After the parade, time for another classic ride, It's a small world  :D  Where also the queue was non existent, which is a good thing because otherwise I'm not sure I would have managed to get everyone to go... A few of them kept saying that they didn't want to have the song stuck in their heads afterwards  :-"  (actually, my neighbour Patricia called me when we were back at work this week to tell me that she still had the song in her head   )

By now, it was time for dinner. We had booked at Plaza Gardens for 18:00 (I wanted Agrabah Cafe but it was closed for dinner  :( ).

Zara and I swapped ears
(//http://lh3.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/StiueiUk5QI/AAAAAAAAJig/iJvYUCnA46c/s800/P1000415.JPG)

Dinner was delicious. They have a really nice selection there, and the restaurant was particularly quiet, which was very pleasant.

In fact, dinner was so pleasant that it took me ages to get everyone moving again    so by the time we left it was almost 20:00 (park closed at 21:00). We decided to go and get some fastpasses for Space Mountain, while we had another go in Buzz (this time my gun was not too good, I had a terrible score...)

Unfortunately when we got out of Buzz, the SM was closed (ie broken), and with 15 minutes to go before the park closed, they told us it probably wouldn't open again.

So instead, we went to Big Thunder Mountain, which is the one I really wanted to do anyway, because I love it by night  :D  We got there and joined the 10 minute queue, but was soon as we reached the first people in the line a CM came to close our line; he moved the people in front of us to the other line, and told us to follow him, all the way to the fastpass lane, all the way to the trains  :D  :D/ For one that happened to us, and not those behind me!! The ride after that was perfect, absolutely perfect  :D

After that, exhausted and very happy, we started making our way back to the hotel. Taking some pictures along the way, of course...

And now with pumpkins... (unfortunately it was raining)

Another great update with some lovely photos.

I wondered where Beast had gone too - perhaps they were fighting ;)

You have some great night photos too, but yes it was annoying that had to rain so much on Sunday evening :(

I thought I'd taken one of the whole room but I guess not, I can't find it  :( ... But we had a small seating area, with a sofa (which opened up to a bed), a coffee table and a desk.

Plus, we had a room with a view... Honestly. If you looked really carefully, behind the trees, you could see the Castle and the Space Mountain (well, bits of them anyway   )

Here are those videos:

The Witches Dancing Spells Party (well, bits of it...) You can judge for yourselves! Personally I found it a bit confused... Not as good as last year's Villains show, but still some enjoyable bits (I really liked the dancers)

[youtube:2jad46fq]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqZOttf4ZtQ[/youtube:2jad46fq]

And my favourite video of this trip, the Halloween parade  :pumpkin:

Again, both available in HD... Enjoy!

Day 2

After lots of hard negotiations, we agreed to meet for breakfast at 07:30 (I wanted 7:00, they wanted a lot later   ). Of course when my husband and I got there, we were the only ones there...

Within a few minutes of arriving the place filled up, but although all the tables seemed taken, it didn't feel particularly busy... Maybe it's because the place is relatively small, I don't know. But the breakfast buffet was very good: eggs, sausages, cereal, croissants... And the juice!! Real, fresh orange juice!! Delicious! Just for that juice, I only want to stay in the NYH (or DLH, if we can) from now on.

I have to say, it was my first stay in the NHY, and I loved it. It felt a lot quieter/smaller than the NPB or SQL, the room was nice and big, the hotel looked beatiful... and the juice they had for breakfast was delicious  :D I will definitely be going back. And now I really want to try the Empire State Club....

Anyway, back to the report.

People came down for breakfast slowly (I could have killed them, they were so slow   ). My brother in law and his family were leaving later that day (kids had school, missing 2 days was a bit too much), so they decided to stay and check out, and meet us later, while we took the children with us.

Finally, and getting very close to 09:00 (  honesly!! EMH anyone???) we finally were on our way! Monday was a lovely, sunny day, and today I was taking my good camera (and not the compact one)

Morning in Lake Disney
(//http://lh3.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/StryUPc8xPI/AAAAAAAAJkc/fRrNzkukRv0/s800/IMG_3461.JPG)

One of my favourite sites in the world... Approaching DLH and the magic behind it...

Subtle decorations...

First destination of the morning: Buzz Lightyear. So we made our way to Discoveryland.

In the morning light, even those decorations cannot make the Castle look anything other than magical...

To infinity, and beyond!

We had a lot of fun in Buzz this morning. I went in with Zara, who managed to hit the hidden target in Zurg and came out with 57,000 points, and I managed a reasonable 220,000.

After Buzz, the grown ups (and Sam) wanted to go on Space Mountain, so we decided to split up, I would take Zara to Peter Pan (with IASW, it was her favourite ride), and we would meet later in Main Street.

Although the park felt busy (it was 09:30 by now) the queues were again small, and Peter Pan only had 10 minutes.

One small shock there, though, in the line inside, there were plenty of writings in the wall    (in the fence that separates the fast pass line from the normal line, and in the wall). They were all dated after September 09, so I don't know if it was only then that someone started it and all the idiots followed, or if they clean them regularly. I had never noticed writings before (but then again I don't usually spend much time in the queue line). But it was rather upsetting. And some of them were quite rude! They also seemed a very international mix, because I saw writing in French, English, German and Spanish. Very upsetting    Show some respect, people!

The ride itself was perfect and beautiful, of course, it's wonderful to see they've slowed it down a bit so that you can really enjoy it...

After failing to get the sword out...

.. Zara and I went back to Main Street, to meet up with the others, and wait for my brother in law who'd called to say they were almost there.

The almost turned out to be 10 minutes (they got lost, apparently   ) so I had plenty of time to take some pictures of the Halloween decorations

As you can see, other than the pumpkin men here and there on the street, the Main Street buildings themselves were orange-free: and looking good!

Eventually everyone showed up. It was now after 10:00, so we made our move to WDS...

Day 2 continues soon!
Title: Re: N2O comes out to socialise.. Halloween trip *DAY 2 PART 1*
Post by: never2old on October 19, 2009, 01:30:30 PM
After a quick morning in DLP, we headed to WDS.

First stop: fastpasses for Tower of Terror

After that we split up, with my sister in law taking the kids to Stitch Live, and the rest of us going for not one but two goes on RnRC (there was no queue!! we had to, really!!) I have to say, before this trip I had only been 3x on RnRC, it was the one ride that really scared me, but nothing like going on it again and again and again to get over it... Plus since the soundtrack changes, you get different a different experience every time! Now I confess, it's one of my favourite rides!

After that it was time for our FP in TOT; this time my husband took the kids, while the rest of us dared to drop in.... I was the only one in the group who'd done it before, and everyone else was... well, terrified really! It really is a unique ride. But everyone did enjoy it, which is the main thing!

We met up with my husband in the Flying Carpets (they'd done Cars with no line at all, Carpets was the same)

Of course, since the ride lasts about 5 seconds, no wonder it has no line   ....

Crush was always either closed, or with lines of 40 minutes, so we didn't even try it.

After that it was Armaggedon (I won't miss that one much if and when it closes....), and then we went to get our places for...

It's a beautiful set, with lots of details to discover, I must say... With a good lens on a camera, you find lots of things!

There's the hidden Mickey in the bell, of course

or the one in the shop window...

The stunt show was great. I hadn't seen it in a while. Although maybe next time, wait for the summer... By the time we came out, we were freezing!!! Sitting down for so long, in the shade, not warm!!

It was almost time for my brother in law and co. to leave, so we only had time for one last ride...

The Studio Tram Tour!

When we did it during the Disco night, they seemed to have changed the video commentary to fit better with the ride: the costumes bit for example was out. But this time it was back on... Plus the sound quality wasn't too good, you could barely hear them, so it really made no sense. Please replace that by a live CM, or a new video, or just take people to Catastrophe Canyon which is the only interesting bit, really.

After that, it was almost time to say our goodbyes to half of us... We had a quick lunch in McDonalds, then went back to the hotel to say goodbye.

We were all a bit sad to see them go (Sam was looking VERY upset to be leaving  :( ), but they had a really good time (or so they tell me), and hopefully we can go back all together soon...

The rest of us (our neighbours and us) were staying for another night, though, so after a quick rest, it was back to WDS.

The line in TOT was 20 minutes (too much for us   ) and they'd closed the fastpass machines, so we decided to try it a bit later. First we hello to Goofy

then went back (yes of course) to RnRC, where again line was non existent.

It was almost closing time for WDS, so after one more go on TOT (where lines were now for 10 minutes  :D/ ), and feeling rather shaken and with sore throats from all those thrills and screams, we headed towards DLP.

Beautiful afternoon in Paris
(//http://lh5.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/StsFqvXjM5I/AAAAAAAAJrQ/LGDkjnIm0x8/s800/IMG_3841.JPG)

Christmas comes early here...

Back in DLP

With only one hour to go before the park closed, we kept it simple.... Straight to Frontierland, fastpasses for BTM

then straight to Indiana Jones. It was almost 18:00 (Indy closed early of course), but we still managed to go in.

As I said, ride is too short to be good.

Then it was time for our fastpasses in BTM (which after Indiana Jones felt wonderfully long), and after that, guess where?? Space Mountain of course!

After this very scientific, comparative approach to Disney rollercoasters (and feeling rather shaken not stirred, I confess), it was 19:00. Which meant... Party Time!

Last part of Day 2 coming soon!

Great updates to your report with great photos, but wait ... now you forgot about the part where we met without knowing it too ;-)

I agree with you on the Tram Tour: the video seemed out of place, the sound was almost non-existant and with the new route it is even more obvious that Catastrophe Canyon is the only thing to keep this attraction a live as a must-do thing.

Personally I quite enjoy the Party Time show, so I really wanted to see the Halloween version. I have to say, having the villains at the end didn't add much for me, though I did think Cruella was particularly funny... Just look at her face in the pictures!

Plus it was nice to see the show at the end of the day, there's was a beautiful light, maybe not so great for pictures, but definitely beautiful to see "live"....

Here are some of the pictures!

Day 3 to follow!

Finally!

Day 3

After negotiating with our friends again, we agreed to meet up for breakfast at 08:30. I was not pleased at all, to be honest. This was our last day, I really wanted to make the most of it, and wasting most of the EMH for a bit more sleep wasn't my idea of making the most of it... But we had to compromise, and I didn't stay mad too long...

So after another delicious breakfast (and a few glasses of that deliciously fresh orange juice), we checked out, took our bags to the car, and we were finally on our way!

(does this look familiar Nicolai   )

It was a really beautiful morning!

The lazy people who didn't want to have breakfast at 07:00...

Of course by the time we made it to the park it was close to 09:30   . We started with Buzz, then it was time for Space Mountain, where although they were advertising 10 minutes, we ended up waiting closer to 25    But it was the longest queue we did in the 3 days, so I won't complain too much...

After that we had a final go on Buzz (where the 20 minutes they advertised turned out to be 5, so the balance was restored   ). Best ride ever! I had an amazing score of 642,500  :D/  (ok it may have been partially linked to the fact that the ride stopped for some time when I was facing the second Zurg, and I kept hitting the nice target behind him again and again and again   )

The four of us

We then moved to Frontierland...

My husband and I
(//http://lh6.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/St_-09vLKgI/AAAAAAAAJx0/EspdtjsFveU/s800/P1000561.JPG)

First some fastpasses for BTM; this time I took a picture of the new machines; on the right side you swipe your normal tickets, on the left side there's a scanner for the tickets you print at home...

The best thing to do while one waits for the BTM fastpasses is of course to head to Phantom Manor... And there are lots of photo opportunities on the way!

Just outside PM we saw Chip & Dale. Chip tried my Minnie ears on...

but had to give up because they were too small for him. And they fit me perfectly!

As has been mentioned in other reports, on Tuesday the PM was not at its best... We stopped for a bit at the beginning, and then there were a few effects not working or things missing (the dog?? where is the dog??) Definitely not the way I want to remember it...

Day 3 continues soon!

After that rather dissapointing ride on PM, it was time for our fastpasses in BTM. I've said it before, and I'll say it many times again, that is one brilliant ride!! Fun, fun, fun. Do you know that it was my first rollercoaster ever? I was 8 when my family went to WDW. I remember sitting in the front of the train, with my dad and my little brother, and my dad suddenly said: "look, there is no driver!" After that it started going fast up and down... I was terrified    It took me years to have the courage to go on another rollercoaster again! Which by then was the Paris version, of course. My sister forced me to go with her, and I loved it so much we did it 3 times in a row. It was the good old days when the park was empty and there were no queues at all, I remember running all the way to the boarding platform...

Anyway, I totally digress. BTM was great  :D

Since we still hadn't don the train around the park, we decided to give the Frontierland station a go. So we made our way there (and yes, very slowly, because I had pictures to take...

Continues soon!

After waiting about 10 minutes in the Frontierland station, we boarded our train

We decided to go all the way around the park, and to come back to Frontierland. First stop: Fantasyland

Le Pays des Contes des Fees and Casey Jr were closed for maintenance work...

Ever wondered how deep the water is in Le Pays de Contes de Fees?
[spoiler:90bqz6mv](//http://lh6.ggpht.com/_lHe7pCy5vZo/SuACyAORWZI/AAAAAAAAJ2A/voqC191FGH0/s400/PA130208.JPG)[/spoiler:90bqz6mv]

Next stop: Discoveryland - although the audio system in the train was announcing our arrival into Fantasyland (again   ). First time I've seen them getting it wrong!

And after a brief stop in Main Street, back to Frontierland... I have to say, coming out of the tunnel with the Grand Canyon scene, into Frontierland, it's my favourite bit of the journey

As agreed we got off again in Frontierland, and decided to forget about lunch in the Blue Lagoon  :(  (which we had booked for later, but since the park was nice and quiet everyone else preferred to get more rides done) and went instead for a quick lunch in Cottonwood Creek.

In all these years I don't think I'd ever eated in the Cookout Barbecue, which is a shame! The barbecue sauce they got in there is really delicious! And I have to say, I couldn't finish my menu, it was so big...

Feeling better after a nice (and quick) lunch, headed towards the Studios. On the way we run into Sally, who was being, well, Sally   wondering around and looking surprised and amazed by everything. She was beautiful!

And then Jack came for her

More Frontierland pictures...

Eventually they managed to drag me out of Frontierland, through the Liberty Arcade...

all the way out to the Disneyland Hotel...

and out of Disneyland, into WDS.

Feeling it was too soon after lunch to do anything too active, we went first to Cinemagique, our friends had never been on it before so it was a must, really. And they really enjoyed it. It's a beautiful little movie. I wish they sold the soundtrack somewhere, I love the music!

Then it was time for one last go on RnRC (brilliant as always, and no queue as always  :D ), but when we tried to follow with ToT, we found out they were closing the gate. Some people had left the queue, but there were still plenty inside the hotel reception, but none of the lifts seem to be working, and they wouldn't let anyone in  :(

So we had to give up on one last go on it, and instead went back to Disneyland, for one last  go on the Space Mountain. Which maybe was one last go too many, because for some reason it seemed to go faster than usual, or at least at the end the brakes were harder than ever, it was rather violent   ... Still, overall the ride was a lot of fun, and not a bad way to end the trip.

Because by now yes, the end was near    We were all working the next day, so we had to get back home in time to rest a little bit...

So we had one last coffee (and a chocolate cake.... hmmmmmmm) in the Cable Car Bake Shop, and said goodbye to the magic...

Just before leaving, I noticed these:

These were not here the day before... Christmas is coming to Main Street!

But as I said, it was time to go.... So bye bye Castle!

(and bye bye Party Time... From Town Square, you cannot hear the music from Party Time at all!)

And for some reason, bye bye yellow cab outside NYH, it was there when we arrived, but not when we left!

As soon as my husband started driving I fell asleep (as usual), and pretty much woke up when we were almost back home...

It was a really fun trip, it was great to be able to do so many rides with no queues at all, a real treat! Of course I would have liked to go a few more times on Peter Pan, IASW (only did it once!!!), POTC or PM, but we had to things everyone wanted to do... And if it means a few extra goes on SM or RNRC, I won't be complaining too much!

Hope you enjoyed the report, as usual it ended up being a lot longer than I intended... But it's a way of re-living the magic, and part of me didn't want it to end!

Absolutely fantastic trip report, thanks!  :D/

It was a fun read and your pictures are amazing. Makes me really look forward to my Xmas trip (although my average waiting times will be rather different to yours I fear). I'm glad you had such a good time.

I noticed what you said about the "good old times" with short waiting times and empty queues. I fondly remember those too, but I also remember that DLP was very much struggling financially back then, so I'm actually quite happy for the parks to be more crowded these days - even if that does mean longer waiting times.

But again, thanks for your report, you're very lucky to have friends and family who share the Disney spirit (even if they're not prepared to get up early for it)

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love seeing the park full of people! I don't think I'll ever stop enjoying seeing the faces of people of all ages discovering the magic of the place... The place would feel a bit sad without the crowds... But yes, we were very lucky with the waiting times, it was perfect.... On my next trip we're going for a weekend, end of November, I fear I won't see many queues with less than 60 minutes!

YES! that is the greatness about a trip report and I have absolutely enjoyed reading yours which has been amazing and some memorable photos you've got there - especially the ones of the beautiful Halloween decorations in Frontierland - they are superb!

It has been particularly fun to read a report from the exact same dates as my own trip and we have noticed a lot of the same things being in the same places at the same time on several occations. I'm ashamed of myself for not noticing the Christmas decorations in Main Street on Tuesday though

Just finished reading your fantastic report. You were so lucky with queue times! I hope it's as quiet if not quieter when I go in Jan, although as you said I also like to see the parks busy.

It must have been great going with the family, especially on the first time for your niece and nephew, what great memories
