Title: No Fireworks this summer! [no kidding]
Post by: Kinou on February 24, 2006, 10:39:23 AM
The news seems confirmed internally, there will be NO Fireworks this summer, so the Brochure were wrong. Fantillusion will perform through and the park will close at 11pm.
Despite the news, the prices is increasing AGAIN on April 1st (No April fool): OneDayPass: 43euros OneDayHopperPark: 53 euros.

So after they included it in the official brochure, in information given to travel agents, on websites like Extraordinet, etc, etc... there won't be any Wishes?

Well that's just awful.  I hope DLRP have a crap summer, I really do.

Can't wait to see them face the onslaught of guests at City Hall after Fantillusion, when they realise there's no fireworks...  They've had them every summer for the last 13 years, right?  People aren't going to be happy...

How can they NOT have a fireworks show?  It doesn't make any sense at all.  People will go home disappointed during the summer.  The brochures, website, trailers all feature photos of the castle with fireworks behind it.  That's what people expect.  I thought Karl Holz mission was to restore the magic  :?

Well that's complete rubbish of him to do, well I'm not visiting this summer definately, might as well go and visit a park which offers what it says in their brochure, instead of a resort that goes and advertises and then doesn't even bother with them in the end.

Maybe the reasoning behind this involves the 15th Anniversary?  It could be that they're saving money this year so that next year they can have a good display...  It's really strange to hear this anyway, after they spent all that money on their own version of Wishes last year.

If they need to save money, they should still have fireworks but on weekends only.  At least that way they won't get quite as many complaints from guests.

Typical that DLRP do something to make me really hate them on the day I buy shares.

This is soooo typical DLRP.  Imagine Epcot without Illuminations...  There would be riots in the park.  Aaargh, what a frustration.

DLRP.fr just reacted on their site that Wishes will be performed, but will be sold as a sound & light spectacular...  Maybe that's where the confusing comes from?  But on the other hand there's dlrp.fr's reputation

i can't imagine a disney magic kingdom type park ending the day without fireworks during the summer season it just seems crazy.  everybody expects than when the last parade finishes the fireworks start before the park closes - thats just the way it is.

As much as it pains me to say it (because I loved the 2005 show and its lasers/projections), Wishes without fireworks would be... boring.  They'd have to *seriously* beef up the projections and make them spectacular - last year they were just a nice filler between the fireworks, but on their own they'd be rubbish!

And I bet that however much DLRP would say "this is a light and sound show", people would still be stood there thinking "where are the fireworks?  has it gone wrong?!"  *cue someone making the joke that people did this with 2005's Wishes anyway*

Actually I think dlrp.fr is referring to last years wishes.  But DLRP won't advertise it as a fireworks show, but rather as a sound & light show, with fireworks.

Besides, lots of people liked the Wishes show last year.  You can hear lots of people cheering after the show on our video.   But they were probably not members of DLP.info...

I've been ignoring these rumours of "NO WISHES!" for a long time now, but this time it did seem a bit more certain.  Now I don't know what to think, though, people seem to be getting confused and keep jumping in with new rumours on top of the ones from La Rouquine.

Haha, as soon as the fireworks finished on the first night, I thought "wow! awesome!" and then "oh dear, dlp.info members won't like that!".  The video I have from that night is brilliant though, there's so many "ooos" and "ahhhs" in the background with every effect/firework, people really got into it.  And the funny thing is - they sound British, and we generally aren't that easy to impress.

I think the public's "dislike" of Wishes is just something fabricated in the minds of certain fans... as far as I could see, all the park guests thought it was brilliant.

Yeah many guests thought it was brilliant when I was there in August too, by the sounds of my video, with the cheering at the end and I loved it myself, I hope it does return this summer, is a nice way to end the day, and if it does return then so shall I for my 5th summer season trip :) .

That is sad, really :( Did they really mean NO wishes, or just no fireworks at all? :? And does DLRP.fr's information mean that they'll be changing the spectacle :?

And the price increase doesn't sound that significant. I was there in August, plus I caught a one-day promotion, so I can't quite recall the prices. How much did one day cost? 51 euros? :?

Well, here's another source (in addition to the DLRP travel agents service, the official brochure, and others) which confirms Wishes WILL be on this Summer: http://www.disneylandparis.com/uk/news/ ... /index.htm (http://www.disneylandparis.com/uk/news/calendar/index.htm)

I think it's safe to say we've got fireworks this year.  Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read, I guess...    Or everything DLRP say, perhaps...

Edit: By the way, I wish they'd sort out that Event Schedule.  Road Movies, Starring Cruella, CinéFolies and Lilo & Stitch are NOT parades!!!  Does the person who made that page really think the park will have SIX parades running at once?

Real cool. I hope they have wishes next year when I go!
