Title: Disneyland Park's Christmas Season 2007
Post by: Kristof on June 29, 2007, 11:43:54 PM
This is now the official topic for the Christmas Season at the Disneyland Park.  A separate topic will be opened for the Walt Disney Studios Park.

There's news about the parade:

The Christmas Parade will not return, the Santa sleigh will be added at the end of OUADP.

I'm very curious about castle decorations: will the 15th anniversary statues remain?
Title:
Post by: DisneyBud on June 30, 2007, 01:46:19 AM
I'm thinking they will, as they put up the lights of winter (oops dunno what the proper name is) that are used in the tree lighting ceremony etc at the same time as the statues.

Yes, I don't see why not?

There will be no Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony this year as it was the previous seasons, but a combined version of the Ceremony and the Candleabration.  :)

I mean: christmas lights and anniversary statues together? This is what I wanted to ask.

Yes! That's great news for me! I usually visit in the Christmas season, so being able to see the OUADP with the Santa Sleigh on the end will be amazing! :D

Does anyone know what the soundtrack to the parade will be? Will it be Chante C'est Noel, a festive Just like we dreamed it, normal just like we dreamed it, or something different altogether?
Title:

Hopefully, it will be  'just like we've dreamed it' with a little bit of christmasy music at the end.

I even heard some shocking news last week: there's going to be a Santa's Village in the park.  Now let's face it, how high are the odds this will be in fact Belle's Christmas Village?
Title:

Yes :( Can't imagine there would be both Belle's and Santa's village, boohoo

It will be interesting to see how the intergrate the 15th anniversary celebration with the christmas theme. It should be pretty easy really, they have a lot of decorations up. I'm hoping to visit with my family this christmas for a few days rest and relaxation, so I'll be sure to send in some pics when I'm there.

What's wrong with Santa's village? Let's wait and see, maybe it could be even better than the Belle's one.

Well, I think the pumpkin will not return just because it was located in the middle of central plaza, where the candleabration stage is now. The tree is situated in Town Square, so I suppose it should be there also this year.
Tell me if I wrong raptor!  :)

the brochoure says
Quotenobody does christmas quite like disney, and this is the year to experience a festive fairytale as decorations more dazzling light up the park for our birthday celebration
so by the sound of it there will be a massive difference in the amount of decorations this xmas, sounds exciting :D

No. They were only through 2001-2003 I think.

I'd be surprised if there will be a "massive difference" in the amount of decorations, more like the added lights of the 15th decorations are the "extras".

I wonder - can they use the Main Street chandeliers with the Lumiere banners?
Title:

I've seen key visuals with the banners AND the chandeliers.  So there's a chance they'll use both.

The railroad isn't closed, just one train is in refurbishment.

6pm closing in November seems fairly normal to me, midweek is hardly a busy time. It's still too early for a Disneyland park though...

Christmas Season Press Release!

...Though only in French, for some reason. *But*, I've just translated the important bits:

» DLRP Today : Bougillumination Enchanté and Dreams of Christmas (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/09/13/bougillumination-enchantee-and-dreams-of-christmas/)

Main news:

- Bougillumination will become Bougillumination Enchanté during the season
- 'Dreams of Christmas' will be a new float for Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade -- yes of course, the old Santa Claus sleigh!
- Disney Characters' Express will continue to run and get a special Christmas themed overlay.
- Fantillusion will only run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in November
- Goofy Claus takes Father Christmas' old spot on Town Square... so the Christmas village in Frontierland looks like it'll be happening this year.

Now, watch them release the English version tomorrow after I spent all that time...
Title:

@ bentaylor21   christmas is amazing, its the only time we go, but with there being no proper xmas parade and other cut backs we may think about going a diffenert time of year, but yes in the past there has been no where else i would want to be for xmas

Well I'm excited about Christmas season at DLRP of course, and the additions sound quite good... (still have to get used to the christmas village at FL though). But I seem to be the only one here looking at the Christmas visual and thinking 'sjeez, isn't that just a bit much?'... I do hope they'll go for eighter the 15th banners, or for the chandeliers on MS but both combined together with the christmastree on TS, the cristal Castle lights and the candles for bougillumination seems too much, knowing there's also the Mainstreet facades lighting... maybe it looks less overwelming in real life then on concept, who knows,
We shall see!

Thanks for the information Baloo. While it seems that the Christmas Season at Disneyland Park will be as grand as ever, I can't help but to feel a bit dissapointed by the offerings at the Walt Disney Studios. No small decorations at Toon Studio for example? No Meet 'n Greet with the White Witch/Snow Wicth from Narnia or the awesome car prop on display at the entrance of Moteurs like a few years ago? Even Santa Goofy has packed his belongings and went to Disneyland Park.

The extra day and night free offer is on between 9th November - 20th December 2007; 6th - 19th January 2008; 3rd - 6th February 2008; 7th - 12th March 2008.

I'm going on the 20th December for 3 nights and only have to pay the price of 2 nights!

I only ever go at Christmas, its my favourite time of year at Disney.

They do this because during the week at this period there is almost nobody and the park will close at 6 PM. Before the park opening hours were not based on the frequentation and closed at 8 everyday.

Fantillusion will be running all the days during the Christmas holidays of course ;).

I havent been since 1997.... but Im going to Disneyland for my Birthday!

my Birthday is in 2nd of December, and I cant wait to walk down main street usa in the snow!

My partner is taking me there, because my 18th wasnt as good as it should have been. Nothing wrong with wanting a magical 20th!

The opening hours for December have been announced on the officialwebsite (//http://news.disneylandparis.co.uk/calendar/index.xhtml). Obviously, the 6.00 p.m. closing was just a thing for November. And, interestingly, there is no more mention of the closure of BTM. Could it be that the schedule has been changed?

There's a topic especially for Park Hours here (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=804).

Thanks for the note though, great to see the main Christmas fortnight will have 10pm closings again. :)

Hmm, I don't actually like the website that much. It doesn't look as polished as the Halloween one and runs a bit slow and clumsy here, especially with all that snow falling.

However...

Yes, a few seconds are shown as the intro the website! In a word: STUNNING. Even more gorgeous than the original 15th Anniversary adverts.

I totaly agree, it slowed my computer right down and the advert kept freezing as it was demanding so much.  :(

I like the Chandleliers, but not so much in combination with the 15th banners. I just have the feeling that the princess pics don't suit with them that much. But hey it's just for this season right ? then it's okay.

Thanks for the link. It's great to see that they are trying to update the 15th site for Christmas, but look at how poorly they've put the Christmas version of the castle in, they've just slapped it on top of the original image, you can even see the old image at the bottom of the Christmas one and sticking out the sides, it's blurry as well.

Well that's my moan done for the day

Post by: disneyfanatic on October 07, 2007, 11:17:23 PM
I thought I read somewhere that it "snows" everyday during the Christmas season. Is that true? Is it real snow or fake snow? Only on Main street I assume? I want to make sure the kids have the right type of clothes to wear although I don't know how they would do real snow. If it is the snow like in Mickey's Winter Wonderland show that would be nice since it looked real but wasn't wet :D  We are planning to go in early December and are going next week for the Halloween season. Maybe one more trip after TOT opens in early Jan. and then our passes run out  I just don't know what I'll do without my Disney fix every few months...

So not during the parade. Bummer. Still I like the atmosphere without the cold. Can you only hear the bells on Main Street and will City Hall have the time info on when it happens? Thanks again for the answers.

Yes, during the parade! At least in previous years...

One of my favourite memories from DLRP, snow falling as "Chante, c'est Noel" played and the Christmas Parade turned the corner onto Main Street. :)

It's going to be interesting to see how they handle all this with OUADP and its separate float music. Maybe they'll dig up the old "Santa Claus' Sleigh" music for his float again? I think they used that for Disney Classics Parade's christmas version...

Its every 15 minutes on Main Street, you get a tinkle of bells ( I can imagine Tinkerbell waving her wand) then it starts to snow. Also happens during the tree lighting ceremony when they turn the lights on Main Street on. Easy to spot as Minnie cries "Look everyone its snowing"

Those reindeers from the new advertisment are coming back as part of this years Christmas Post-Parade, which will start a while after The Once Upon a Dream Parade has finished.

Also included will be the toy soldiers, victorian dancers and royal ball dancers. 2 floats will make up the small parade, The Santa Clause float and the small toy soilder float. The old Snow White float may or may not be incuded.

A post-parade? That's a strange idea.

Hurrah for the reindeer though, they look very cool! I noticed they're on the character gathering they did for the 100 Years of Magic, so DLRP have just been hiding them since then.

So yes - place your bets now for the soundtrack. Chante c'est Noel, I guess? Until they use some Tokyo cra--I mean -song- instead.

Plans have been confirmed, and dreams of Christmas is now the final section of the Once Upon A Dream Parade. It will feature Victorian Dancers, Poinsettia flowers, Toy Soldiers and Reindeers. The music includes a short cut version of Chante C'est Noel and 2 other xmas tracks. Just Like We Dreamed it in its normal form wil be the show stop music!

Those were a one-off to launch the celebrations on 31st March, if you're talking about the "Just Like We Dreamed It" ones. The only fireworks will be on New Year's Eve.

Should we expect much change with the Christmas version of Character Express I wonder? I'm imagining a few jingles on the soundtrack (as if it's not jumpy enough already.. lol) and some simple garlands on the train at least.

And any word on the return of the Swing Along Santas show? Kinou mentioned it might be possible in the gospel choir topic...

Click "edit" to avoid double posts in the future! If you're asking real weather-wise, this question should be posted in our Trip Planning forum (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13). Otherwise, fake soapy snow falls on Main Street frequently throughout the day.

Fake snow every 15 minutes on Main Street throughout the day, just listen for a small jingle of bells and wait. Also snowed during the tree lighting ceremony last year, would have thought it would this year even though its a new ceremony

They'll be marked on the park map when you get there, yes. Belle's Christmas Village is to the left of It's a Small World, Father Christmas Village to the right of Frontierland railroad station. You can probably find those on an older map you've got.

Has anyone who's visited recently seen any progress at the Father Christmas Village? They've only got this week to change it from Halloween... the changeover probably won't be very major, will it?

The first Christmas stuff is starting to pop up like Belle's Christmas Village and indeed the Christmas Tree on Town Square.  But they're also still taking down Halloween stuff every night.  Last night the Téléfreak and the other decorations near the Lucky Nugget have been removed and the decorations at Woody's Roundup.  The Witch Academy sets are still present, same goes for the Trick or Treat stage.

Quote from: "Kt"Is the Christmas parade back as usual with Chante C'est Noel?...
No, it's still the usual version of DOUADP but there is a Dreams of Christmas section at the end with the toy soldiers, reindeer, festive dancers and the Santa's sleigh float from previous years. The music sticks to the layout of the normal parade but features a Chante C'est Noel and Joy to the world in the Christmas section :)

Poppy told us the show stop music is still JLWDI a few pages back, so there are still stops. :)

There is now 1 show stop during the DOUADP parade and it takes place where the second show stop used to happen.

Over the launch weekend Fantillusion was trailed with just 1 show stop too, and it looks like its staying like that!!
Title:
Post by: Anthony on November 13, 2007, 03:29:18 PM
Is there really a big advantage to only having 1 stop? Cheaper, easier to run or something? It doesn't seem like it'd be that much of a strain considering every guest would then get to see a stop.

Spotted on DCP by Spectroman, video spotted on YouTube by dlpmagic: more bugs with the lights this year - worse than the chandeliers!

Anybody know anything about a 'major' issue with the Christmas lights on the Castle?.

I note a thread on another forum where someone was suggesting (based on there reading of another forum - looking like chinese whispers!), that the lights aren't working as planned, require a major fix, and have only worked correctly once since the start of the season?.

Thanks

It's not a picture but a video. Have a look HERE (//http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQpIjAdnCb8).

It's very nice when you're on Main Street and suddenly the 'music' starts and it starts snowing! It really adds something i think.
You see a lot of people being surprised, suddenly standing still, and looking up where it comes from.
The machines make a lot of 'noise' though, so i understand now why this tingling sound/music is being used during the snowing.

Fireworks only on new year's eve in the Winter. I agree though, it wouldn't be too much to present a simple fireworks show like the one they had around 2001 over the main fortnight of Christmas, with the attendance they get these days. Considering the amount of other Christmas stuff though and this possible extra daytime show, we're doing amazing already.

It depends when you visit in December! They might be the same for early weeks, until the park switches to longer opening hours. Just keep checking the official website.

Do some people realise what a great site they are actually on when they are posting stuff in the forum?  All the answers to your questions are in fact posted in the guides on the website.

To help you out: http://www.dlrpmagic.com/guides/seasons ... asvillage/ (http://www.dlrpmagic.com/guides/seasons/christmas/2007/fatherchristmasvillage/)

Sometimes it would be great to see people respect the work that the website owners put into this little place of magic on the web, really :)  It's amazing how much information is on there, so use it :) :) :) :)

Oh, and before you tell me not all information is included: it's FREE, as it always is in Disneyland :) :) :) :)

I've post a new topic on this forum two hours ago to let you know that i've post on my blog disney and more the first ever document that prove that imagineers have planned to built the highly awaited Indiana Jones adventure attraction at DLP.
Unfortunately, it seems that the webmaster of this forum decided that YOU shouldn't see it . He also have the delicacy to cancel my topic probably to make sure you will not go on my blog to see it.
My blog is a non-commercial site, with the only goal to share great documents to all DLP fans. I will be you, dear magicforum readers, i will take quite badly that your webmaster try deliberately to avoid you to see DLP documents that you are all hoping for.
May be it's simply some jealousy against my blog ( they can have good reasons to be jealous ) or may be it's only stupidity.
Anyway, if you want to know why the imagineers are ready to built Indiana Jones adventure the day the park will decide it and see the first blueprint of it, please go at:

"Jolly jolly jolly holidays!" It's back in Disneyland Park!

Great show, DLRP really can make magic out of practically nothing. Although, it looks like quite a bit of effort went in... they recorded new Minnie voices, gave her and those dancers nice new costumes...

Coming on top of everything else already running during Christmas, it's pretty amazing. 8) Best Christmas Season yet perhaps? What do you think?

The video of the Enchanted Candlebration is magical :)! If the celebration will last till 2009, then the show will surely be the same at next year's Christmas Season?!

Has anyone of you already been to this year's Christmas Season? We're planning to be there next year (December) so I'm really curious of it, maybe you already have reports and pictures you can share (in the trip report topic I guess ;))!

I'm curoius how the princesses look like during Christmas Season (on their meeting point). Do they come every day with every wheather, even if it rains?
And what about shows like Enchanted Candleabration when it rains? Will it take place anyways?

And what about Belle's Christmas Village (although we don't already know if it'll be there again next year): Is it only like a "Christmas Market", or are there also still shows or somehting with Belle & Co.? Do you know if the sell waffles there? *g*

Oh, and: Is Fantillusion or something running during Christmas Season?

I hope anyone could answer my questions ;)!

hi nala, we went in november for the christmas season,

belles christas village was selling its of food, drinks and soup, but some of the stalls were closed all the time so i dont know if they are just to look at, there were pancakes and things like that being sold.

didnt really see princesses on their meeting point but i wasnt looking for them, saw them on the parade floats and that was it i think

Fantillusion was on on the sunday when we got there but i was very dissapointed with the parade as it was speeded up the fast and there was only one show stop and then it went flying past as quick as anything

the one thing i would go and see if mickeys winter wonderland show for christmas, i know it was the same as three years ago when i last went but its still a great show to see (and if you do see it, sit at the back in the centre if you can   )

I'm going to answer some of your questions.
In the Belle's village there was a wonderful show "belle's medley" but it doesn't exist any more. The characters belle and the beast will appear sometimes.
For the candlebration "enchantée" (candlebration mixed with a christmas show), when it rains (pouring rain), the lighting show is performed but without the characters princesses etc...
There 's a sweet new show at the moment with minnie.

The fantillusion is there on weekends during the low season, and every day in high season (december).

I've recently returned from a visit during xmas season (also went xmas 2005), Nala, you really must go at christmas, everything is so lovely, we've never encountered any bad weather cancellations so i cant advise on that one, Belle's Xmas village is a cute series of shops basically, some do sell waffles, mini donuts, pastries, Mulled Wine, plus of course lots of xmas merchandise.  in 2005 there was Belles Musical Medley (only in French) which was nice as all the characters did a walkabout through the village for photos/autographs, but it was a very tight space so i'm not that surprised that it's been dropped.  There is a nice meet & greet with Stained Glass window & Magic Rose, where you can meet Beast (V rare- not in blue outfit though) & Belle - we saw her in her blue peasant dress with Red Xmas coat AND in her Ballgown with a golden winter overcoat - it's just a pity that there is no Official photographer here.  Belle was the only Princess Meet & greet in the park this year, the cynic in me thinks that this is down to the Auberge Character dining expereince - which has now gone up to 55Euros/20Euros! [-X

Hey, thank you so much for the detailled descriptions :)!!

@ miss disney fan: Oh, so Fantillusion wasn't that good? Was it different to the summer shows? I've never seen Fantillusion before so I don't know what it looks like ;)!
And Mickey's Winter Wonderland sounds so great, I also saw the pictures on dlrpmagic and I really, really hope that it'll run also during next year's Christmas Season  [-o<

@ kaysha: Wow, thank you for the great picture of the Minnie show, it looks lovely - and Minnie is one of my favourite Characters at DLRP :)!

@ jazzluvva: Oh, that's great to hear that you haven't encountered bad weather cancellations - that's what I'm most afraid of! When I look at the pics f.e. of photosmagiques, everything looks so amazing with this blue sky. But when I look out of the window, then I think we had no day in December without rain here in Germany :(!
Wow, the meet&greet point with Belle and/or Beast sounds so great!! Where is it placed? And she had also different outfits? Cool :)! Do you have any pics of/with her?
And you're right, the Auberge Dining is also much too expensive for me. We met the princesses (Belle) in September this year, but maybe it's replaced by Belle&Beast during the Christmas Season?!

Aw, you made me so curious now, I can't believe it lasts one year till I can come back to DLRP and enjoy my first Christmas Season there ;)! I hope that all the wonderful shows & extras you described will be there next year, too :)!
I'm afraid that I'll book "too early" and then later in the year they say "Big Thunder Mountain" or one of my other favourites will be closed   :?

Fantillusion is usually great, well worth to watch so i dont know if they had some sort of a problem as the one and only show stop was really really long so i dont know if something had happen then   , never been over the summer only for christmas so i cant help you there  :(

Quotenala_84:I'm afraid that I'll book "too early" and then later in the year they say "Big Thunder Mountain" or one of my other favourites will be closed

If you go there in december, it is the most crowded period for the park, so there is no risk or very few that they plan a rehabilitation(for this year only space mountain from 11 to 13 december), they do it in november or january.

I will go there for my first disneyland christmas the 22 december  :D  , I'll tell you my experience!

Maybe, but it has changed since the 15th anniversary, all the weekends are blackout (very rare) and the castmembers are forbidden to make enter their relatives.
You can check  the waiting time for attractions Link (//http://disneycentralplaza.englishboard.net/disney-travel-planifiez-vos-voyages-f10/archive-des-temps-d-attente-de-vos-visites-t2.htm)
For example Grandmath from DCP said:
"Aujourd'hui samedi 8 décembre, malgré le temps pourri le Resort était blindé!! Déjà les bouchons dès la sortie 14 à 10h ça le fait moyen...

puis aux Studios j'ai pu relever à 11h:

Crush: 100 min puis 80/85 toute la journée
Cars: 60 min (!!)
RRC: 40 min (!!)
Tram Tour: 25 min"

Of course in the beginning of december it is more quiet the week since the school holidays have not started.
Whatever it doesn't change the fact that there are few rehab at this period of the year.

I'm so excited!

I'm not going to Disneyland this time with christmas,
But a lot of presents! I love decorations and stuff,
I already get the 'Christmas Spirit' a little bit.
Although it's still about over 18 days before christmas,
But I really am excited!

I already have our tree, in house, with the
christmas Belle + Lumiere ornament in front :D

Bye!

You can check for the schedule on the official DLRP site where you can download the current programme.

Hello!

Scrooge from Disney Magic Interactive forum, informs us that the Christmas village in the central place of the parks entrance is openned.
There is a lot of food, chocolate, hot red wine, french specialities with cheese "raclette, tartiflette" etc.

Sorry, for your questions, I clearly don't know!
The star arches project snowflakes on the floor at night  =D>
I think the christmas village will be there until January 6th.

So around which date do they usually start with the christmas village? Looks great - I was in Paris several times during christmas season in the past 15 years but never saw it.

The Christmas market runs mid-December to... I'm not sure, maybe 6th January?

This is the third year it's been on the resort hub rather than in Disney Village, and although it's still a bit of a crappy thing to have to walk through on the way to the parks - WOW they have massively improved it over last year, when all the huts were painted cheap colours. This is much nicer and more traditional. The arches frame DLH nicely too, which always looks very lonely in the distance as you walk along the avenue there.

Actually, it's not so much on the esplanade this year (thank heavens!) as it is on the boulevard running along the NEX game arcade, the Imax and the parking garage....
Title: Re: Disneyland Park's Christmas Season 2007
Post by: Anthony on December 18, 2007, 05:44:58 PM
Oh, good news! Last year with it coughed up all around the hub it felt like the street sellers around the RER station had just taken a step up from a tablecloth on the floor.

The DV market has always felt a little weird since Belle's Christmas Village opened. Is there really any need for it now?

The old style of it looked soooo bad! The new village looks much more like a real christmas market. Now it seems to be a nice place to stay and take a hot wine or something. With the old village this was a no go but now! Why not   Well done
