I really like the new outdoor range, it's something that I wouldn't expect to see in the Disney Traditions series, but it works well :)

I totally agree Butlin Boy, I thought exactly the same with the garden range.. :o  To be honest I would of only expected releases like the 'Extra Collection' already shown.. :o  :)

For anyone interested in finding out more about Jim Shore and his commitment to Disney through his unique Disney Traditions, you may want to view the following>>

QuoteThe Man Himself: Jim Shore

The enormous popularity of award-winning artist Jim Shore is the result of a lifetime of dedication, inspiration and plain old hard work, and as with most successful people, some good fortune has played a part as well. As Jim puts it, "Art is something I've done all my life. It's what I've always loved and the only thing I ever wanted to do, but making a living as an artist isn't easy. There are thousands of very talented people out there that never get a chance to show what they can do. I've been lucky. Not only do I get to do what I love, I get to share it with people around the world. I've been given a tremendous gift and I thank God for it every day."

Jim Shore grew up in rural South Carolina, the son of artistic parents who instilled a love of the traditional values expressed in American folk art. His grandmother was a master quilter who taught him an appreciation for the patience and skill required to bring intricate designs to life. Jim drew inspiration from these roots. "There's an innocence and purity to the quilts, appliques and folk scenery found in the early days of our country. These were masterpieces that were designed not for commission, but because the artists were driven to create. I collect quilts dating back over 150 years and when I look at the level of skill and creativity I am continually amazed. This is high art from humble beginnings."

Initially Jim pursued his art when and where he could. He studied engineering and received a degree in business – not art. He supported his young family as an engineer, honing his skills as a sculptor and painter in his spare time. But his passion was always his art, and after several false starts founded his own company, Designs Americana, to market his sculpture. "We went to a show with some of my sculptures and planned to manufacture them if we received enough orders," Jim recalls, "We didn't have a factory, didn't really know what we were going to do. Luckily, we made the right contacts at the show and it all worked out." Within three years Designs Americana had over 350 employees and more orders than they could fill. In fact the demands of managing Designs Americana made it difficult for Jim to concentrate on his art. "I needed to focus exclusively on the creative and artistic side of my work, and that meant finding the right business partner to concentrate on the three piece suit side of the business." There was no better partner than Enesco, a worldwide leader in marketing gifts, collectibles and decorative accessories. In 2000 Jim joined forces with Enesco to create the Jim Shore line of seasonal and home accessories.

While working with Enesco Jim perfected his unique style, combining elements of folk art and a vibrant color pallet applied to traditional themes. To Jim, a Santa Claus isn't just a Santa Claus, it's a canvas to be painted. Taking designs from quilting, rosemalling, applique and flat perspective folk art, Jim creates an intricate and colorful work of art that reflects our shared cultural heritage yet is unmistakably Jim Shore. "I can't imagine myself ever tiring of this," Jim says of distinctive combination of themes and motifs, "I get to create two designs every time I develop a new piece – what the item will be and then what colors and patterns will go on it. The variety keeps me inspired."

The magic of Jim's design style is that it can be applied to a huge variety of themes and formats, creating a charming and innovative American country décor statement for the home. "My work is not a single statement, but a lot of elements mixed together. I use colors that I love – colonial, antiques, jewel tones and some unusual colors that I loved at the moment. Put together it's a pleasure to look at. It doesn't really matter what item it's on. It's just fun to look at—American Folk-Art."

Jim is now working to develop a more extensive lifestyle brand, creating functional home décor and fashion accessories using his unmistakable style. He will continue to solidify his position is the premier name in the speciality gift market through a selective licensing program designed to introduce innovative new products while maintaining high quality standards and exclusive distribution. The focus will be on exciting new formats that compliment the current brand offering from companies including Enesco, Department 56, Evergreen/Cypress and Manual Woodworkers and Weavers.

Jim has received multiple awards from the National Association of Limited Edition Dealers, the premier trade organization in the gift and collectible industry, including:

NALED Artist of the Year 2003, 2004 and 2005
NALED Rising Star 2002
NALED Christmas Collectible of the Year 2003 and 2005
NALED Christmas Décor of the Year 2004 and 2005

Looking at these pictures and thinking about it I nearly bought the Armoire for Wendybird1 for Valentines, but then I also saw what looked to be the mice from Cinderella sat on a small box...

Looking at these pictures makes me want to start buying them... Especially the Mickey ones...

Maybe.... Only time will tell... All depends on the prospect of me finding someone who needs a crazy person to work for them...

Just applied for a job in Thompsons Holidays, and for a Summer Playscheme... But thats for another topic

There's a small 'collectable'/'ornament' store in the local town centre, and I've seen quite a few I've wanted...

- The Evil Queen/Hag
- Jimminy Cricket
- The Armoire
- The Mice from Cinderella

Think there as even a Tinkerbell one I wanted to get...

Looking at the ones you've placed here... I know Need to have

- Mickey Mouse: Sorcerer's Apprentice
- Sorcerer Mickey "Magic is Everywhere"
- Beast/Prince: A Beast Beneath A Spell
-Beast Castle: Enchanted Kingdome
- Chip and Dale Garden Stakes (and I won't even put them in my garden)

As it is there's so much I need and want to buy from the Disneystore... and from the US for teaching practise... I might not ever get to use any type of wage for myself!

That's the one I nearly bought Wendybird1...
Although when I saw it in the shop I could swear Jac and Gus were sat down... :-k

But then I was looking up at it as it was stored on top of a 9 ft Cabinet and my little 5'7" frame couldn't really see what exactly was happening.

Javey is it as I was told by the shop owner a Jewelry Box?

(I'm needing ideas for Wendybird1 and My Anniversary in May... And I've got nothing sorted... other than a trip to the Disneystore in Cardiff... although I'll probably end up spending most of the money on me instead of her)

Yes Captain Pan, it's official known as a 'Trinket Box', titled 'Bosom Buddies'.  The lid does come off, picking it up with Jac and Gus as the handle. The inside has a pale blue suede lining.  Jen keeps all her good necklaces in hers..  :D

Oooh I love the Snow White ones! :D I bought my Mum the Si & Am DT figurine for Xmas, I'm now thinking that I may need to buy her the whole feline collection (Lucifer, Figaro and Cheshire!) so they aren't too lonely... Hmm that's her presents sorted till next year then! ;)

Now here's a question for someone....

I'm looking to get Wendybird1 something rather spectacular for our Anniversary on May 8th... And As she's recently had a very torrid time on teaching practice I think that some traditional Disney Magic is in order... Even a Visit from the magical Mouse himself or even My namesake's best friend, or probably her bestest best friend (Pooh)

As I was ment to be saying

Does anyone know of a website in which I can browse, in the aims of purchaseing a piece of Disney magic for her?... (It needs to be pretty spectacular... as she's planning of Purchaseing the HSM3 Wildcat hoody for me... For the purposes of Teaching Practice of Course  :P )

Captain Pan the Pain of Pixar

Over and Out!

Mmmm, let's see, well other than the usual H.Samuel and Disney Store on-line, you could try Enesco themselves who is the main distributor of DT's, although American we do have a UK office not far from me up in Cumbria, which you can mail order at uksales@enesco.co.uk or telephone: 01228 40 40 40.

Failing that there are a few odd ball shops that do them, but they are spotted around and most seem some distance from Wales.  But I'll keep looking for alternatives..

Well I've just discovered another shop near to me that sells DT's, it's Hallmark. A few of you may know that name as a card shop, well it is but whilst I was in Chester-le-Street yesterday I walked past the window to be pleasantly suprised, plus they are selling DT's at the original prices, not the vastly increased H.Samual ones..

Now this Tinkerbell sitting on the box [A Big Laugh], had disappeared off the scene for ages, luckily they had it.  I thought if I don't get it now it will disappear for good. So another place I'll have to keep a check on now and again, since they told me they would be getting more in later this month.  I wouldn't care but the last time I shopped in Chester-Le-Street was about 4 year ago..

Anyway, here she is in all her glory..  :D

 It does become a problem at times does storage

I think I did mention my methods before, but here they are again anyway..

Well Jen has two storage shelves from Argos put together as below.  When she gets a new bed in time she can have two more of these shelf storage units on the opposite wall, but until then I created her a shelf around her room of added extras, aswell as the top of her wardrobes for the Princesses, also shown below..    :D

Though there are quite a few more DTs added since these quick photos were taken a while back, so the shelves and storage shelves look even more fuller now..

I like your shelving aswell Simbasgirl, especially the sizing as they come down the wall, but I noticing they are filling very quick again, if only you could buy even wider ones..

I'd also like to say your collection is coming along brilliantly..  =D>  =D>  =D>

As for the white shelving on my photos, it was from B&Q, as with the fittings..    :D

A couple of updates>>

I hit rather lucky at Collectables last night, they had the Beast hanging ornament  on sale going for £9.99 instead of £17.00..  :)

(//http://disney-magic.smugmug.com/DisneyMerchandise/Disney-Traditions-Collection/i-Vv3J4Tg/0/L/DT%20-%20Beauty%20%26%20The%20Beast%20-%20Beast%20Xmas%20Hanging%20Ornament-L.jpg)

But............. Since they didn't have Belle, as the two they had left had gone, I had to look elsewhere. Luckily my other reliable shop Compliments did at £17.00, but with 10% off in their sale I got it for £15.30.  :)

So all in all two DT's for £25.29 instead of £34.00 wasn't bad going..  :D

Well Stitch2814 you might be right there with the advertising..

Apparently EST (Eastern Standard Time) refers to the USA and Canada which is 5 hours behind us [GMT], so for example if it was 11.00pm here, over there it would be 6.00pm. So putting the advert times into our times it should read>>

9am to 10am [GMT]
4pm to 5pm [GMT]
9pm to 10pm [GMT]

Instead of>>

4am to 5am [EST]
11am to 12pm [EST]
4pm to 5pm [EST]

I believe that each of the different hour shows will be showcasing Heartwood Creek, but I have a feeling there might be a few Disney Traditions thrown in for some reason by some of the images used on the advert...

Still either way it's Jim shore, and you don't often get to see him..  :D

**Disney Traditions Price Hike**

Those of you who have collected Disney Traditions for the past two years, may have realised the price increase of a lot of the older DT's, not the xmas ones, they always go on sale at some point..

I've come to realise looking at our collection that the original RRP price has gone up 4 to 10 pounds to buy the same piece now. Enesco did warn of this about a year ago, but it seems as though it's continuing. My main worry is insurance, since our collection is worth more now than it was about two years ago when first purchased..

I know I'm covered aslong as an individual piece is valued at no more than £1500.00, which will always be fine for a DT. But if they ask for receipts they won't match the new costs to replace a particular item, I just hope they take the new RRP costing's into consideration when paying out, against the lower values when first purchased..  :-k

On a brighter note, this is one Disney Collection that is looking a winner for a vast increase in value in such a short space of time. A good return in my book, especially if you bought an older piece on sale at the time.. :D/

A few examples>>

Bambi "Wonder of Spring" Bought for £12.50 RRP, now £15.99

Snow White "Friendship Makes the Heart Sing" £33.00 RRP, even though I got this one for £28.05 on sale, but now it's £37.99..  :D/

To this one "Homeward Bound", I paid £75.00 RRP, now it's £84.99 and so on, even some of the not so old ones have also rocketed up in price......

I noticed the price hikes a while ago, for example the carousel princesses £24.99 to £28, only a little I know but it all adds up.

Javey are the B&TB hanging decorations still available in Collectables? I must have missed them :(

There may be a few left in some of the more obscure stores, always worth a telephone call just to check. I know they sell out quite quick once on sale. For some reason I managed to get Belle and the Beast and the Rose, items that I hadn't seen other than in the catalogue. Though now I'm still trying to find Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs Potts and the Enchanted Castle which I noticed all over quite a while back but not now, just cannot win...

Javey what you are saying makes good sense, I have noticed the hike...the log one being the main one, its crazy isn't it?
When it comes to the xmas ones I just wait til they come down, most come down to half price don't they? I did get the snowglobe out of littlewoods catologue but I had a £30 off a spend of £60 so felt good about that!! But I can easily see that being £25 in the next wee while then £19.99 if they have stock left, they did that with the tinkerbell on the bell in H samuels.
I found a wee gem of a place online selling some trads 'Ron Hill Disney' is what I put in google...free postage and such LOVELY staff, I bought about 3 or 4 pieces from them not so long ago but the prices I paid they seem to have put them up abit, but I keep checking to see what they have in!!lol..oh and delivery serously can't be faster!!

Hi Simbasgirl, you noticed aswell. You mention Ron Hill, I'm not sure if you know but he actually has a store in Redcar in Cleveland, which I visited once about 2 year ago and he always seems to have at least 10% off the Disney Tradition RRP prices, but with the price hike it'll be 10% off the newer prices now..

It's a great store though, also stocking the Disney Classics Range aswell, the staff are really friendly aswell.. :D

Hi Javey!

We don't have anywhere here that sells traditions apart from H samuels and Hendersons..I live in Scotland in the Highlands (Inverness) so its mainly online we have to get stuff... :(
I was just so impressed with the customer service..they even remembered me!!!!haha! The 2 girls I spoke to were brilliant! I even fired of an email saying so!!

I forgot to tell you and don't laugh lol...I got a mickey tradition, you know the one I think its big heart big smile....its pretty large??? Usually about the £100 mark...well I got it for £30 odd from ebay because the head fell off it!!!lol...they were selling it broken and when it came it was a clean break (I knew from the listing it wasn't in wee bits)..I glued it and it looks perfect!!!...you can't see the break at all, can't believe it!!!

I spent yesterday dusting them and moving them all around!!...the shelves were looking cluttered and I really don't want more shelves in the living room so I put all the proffesional worker ones in the kitchen and the xmas ones in the kitchen (up high on the cupboards), the wee ones like babmi etc in the hall and the rest in the living room look so much better that they aren't all squashed together!! :D/

anyway better go as the kids have school and they are still sleeping,

take care x

The UK is normally 2 to 3 months behind the States on releasing DT's to our retailers, this is normally due to a delay in licensing paperwork once the products get shipped across to here, 'Enesco' being the UK distributor..

Also because of the shipping costs and licensing fees, we get charged a lot more over here aswell for the same DT's..

A real lucky Friday night in Collectables, the only one they had in, with a doubt of getting another one, I just had to have it. Well...C'mon it's Donald..

I also noticed they were starting to get the new range in of the Princesses with the Princes, priced at £29.99 each, but I think there's still time for a reduction on them yet..

I was quacked by it, when I saw it never2old..

Anyway I was in the Flagship Store of 'Collectables' in Stockton today and saw some more of the newer range that had arrived in. More to the shock, but more financially..   The 'Tower of Fright' is priced at £99.00..

I was quite shocked as I expected it being about £70.00 at most. Then I read the possible reasons why..

Quote** Haunted castle with Disney villains**
(Motion activated, eyes light up, spooky sounds)
Must be the technology pricing..

Also the Castle Displayer was in aswell, priced at £50.00..

And I......... Bought neither of them..

But I did get a few other pieces instead, which I'll add shortly, once I get a chance to photo them..  :D

sorry guys...me again....I bought the TOWER OF FRIGHT!!!! so excited...got it from a seller on ebay..£89 delivered...its for mothers day!!!...usually I get a £2.99 bunch of big daisy type things so feel guilty but hubby said it was ok and he loves it too!!!....Javey I blame you, I didn't even know it existed!!!lol

The way I'm looking at it is, I'm NOT buying any of the new princess ones or the wee snowglobes...there is too many and it would cost me a fortune so now allI want (but will wait for reductions)...is the Donald duck double one (like Javey got) and the wicked dragon/double/queen one.

then thats me...oh and the wee Stitch one for my wee man in my life! x But thats it I'm going into Jim Shore retirement!!!haha!

I've come to understand that you cannot collect then all, so if it's anything like Pin Trading then fix your ideas on particular characters to collect or theme areas at least, that way it gets you out of even more trouble as in an empty bank account and forever looking for more space around the house to house them all..

I know what you mean SophieD, but you know what Disney is like for keeping prices up on any merchandise to keep the brand name expensive where possible..

I've never ordered off Jim Shores actual site, but I'd think delivery would definitely be more secure than trying to carry one from DLP on an Easyjet flight..    :o

Saying that they are well packaged in those famous looking DT Boxes, you could probably drop one and it would be ok the amount of polystyrene they use, such a snug fit aswell..

Had to eventually go back and view a DT I did not see on sale anywhere else, well not since last Christmas. Vanessa decided to get me it as a Valentines present..  :D/

Donald - 'Wobble into Winter'... It really does wobble using a centre weight, so it always remains upright..

Just noticed this thread.  We collect the Disney Traditions as well as some other Jim Shore stuff.  We have the massive 'Magic is Everywhere' statue of Sorcerer Mickey, which Jim himself signed to me along with some other pieces.  One of my favourite pieces is my Hitchiking Ghosts which lights up, I love it so much!

Disney Traditions are catalogued twice a year, usually January and June. Since they are designed in America by Jim Shore it usually takes between 1 to 2 months after those catalogues are released for the actual figurines to start and appear in  UK retailers.

That said, occasionally Enesco [the distributor] will obtain special occasion figurines already patented in the U.S.A as extra releases throughout the year. A good example was this Valentines Day. Whereby another collection was brought out soley for that purpose, which didn't feature at all in the lastest catalogue, instead featuring in a combined catalogue of Jim Shores other creativities, eg: Heartwook Creek etc..  ;)  :D

Occasionaly it can be just a case of keeping your eyes open for unexpected releases..

Well I could post it to you Aurora1, but my daughter would have a fit and my life would not be worth living..

Actually it came out a while back when they released the 'Personality Poses', but not realising it was limited at the time, I got Jen the one of Alice sitting down and a work collegue bought her Ariel on the rock as a present. Low and behold I went back for the Belle one and it had gone, months went by and it was no where to be seen. It was removed from the Collectables Website and the H-Samuel website. I even had a look in a shop called Compliments in the MetroCentre that usually sells obscure DTs, to no avail. That was until last night and 3 months on back at Compliments I spotted it in the window amongst various others, I could not believe it. Got to be the last one in the Northeast of England.  The rest is well.... As you see..  :o  :D

Hello Steve

I take it you mean this one>>

(//http://disney-magic.smugmug.com/DisneyMerchandise/Disney-Traditions-Collection/i-LfzPfgn/0/L/DT%20-%20Beauty%20%26%20The%20Beast%20-%20Rose%20Xmas%20Hanging%20Ornament-L.jpg)

Unfortunately this is now obsolete. I've had a quick look on eBay and Amazon to no avail either, there was one actually showing on Amazon, but again out of stock and also saying 'Not sure when it would be back in stock'.

This could be quite difficult. The best chance is if someone is selling one. You could drop a line to Enesco the distributer at general.enquiries@enesco.co.uk and see what they say, they might be able to help, otherwise keep an eye out on various Disney Tradition sale sites..  :)

Hi everyone!
I'm new to this forum, I'm glad to meet everyone :)
I'm so happy that I finally found a thread about Jim Shore figurines, I recently got into collecting Disney Traditions sculptures ( I started collecting like a week ago), and I noticed that there are hardly any pictures or blogs about DT or Disney figurine collecting in general.
This topic must be the only place where people actually discuss these figurines which is a bit sad :(
Anyway, I looked through all replays and I adore everyone's pieces :)
I would like to share my humble collection now^^
Sadly I don't know how to upload  photos here (can someone explain it to me?), so I'll just post links to my figurine pics on Flickr, I hope that's ok for now  :P

Beauty and The Beast 'Beautiful Belle'

I'm also waiting for 3 other figurines which I'm going to share with you soon :)

I would like to share with you a little bit of information too. I contacted Gerald Massie who is working at Jim Shore's company. I asked him about future releases and figurines for Disney's upcoming movie 'Frozen'. Here's what he wrote back to me:

'Thank you for your interest in Jim Shore.  Yes, Jim plans to add to his Disney Traditions collection.  But I don't know about Frozen yet.  Jim has only seen the trailers and hasn't really gotten into the characters yet.   Jim will introduce several new pieces in 2013, including from the recent release Brave.  You can see all the new releases at www.jimshore.com (http://www.jimshore.com"%20target="_blank"%20rel="nofollow).  I hope that helps.  Thanks again and have a great day.'

Seems like Shore is already taking Frozen characters under consideration, I hope he works something out for them, because those characters would look lovely in his folklore-ish style. :)
I also look forward to Merida figurines, can't wait to see what Jim has in store for her!

Oh, and by the way sorry for my English everyone, I'm from Sweden and English is not even my second language so my writing may seem a bit odd to you.

Kind Regards,
Anna

Hi deadcookie, thanks for your post..  :D

I realised the same thing about Disney Traditions on forums in general, that's why I decided to start this Official Topic here on the MagicForum. To answer your question about adding photos, all you need to do is paste the link onto the screen like you have, then highlight it and press the 'Img' button which will encase your link with (img) (/img), this will then display the photo rather than the link once you submit the post..  ;)

Looks like we share a lot in common with Disney Traditons, and thanks for the updates which you received from Gerald Massie, much appreciated..  ;)

Please share what you can with regards to your Disney Tradition Collection. Talking of sharing, this one I got today reduced to £42.00 from £59.99. I just love it..  :D/
