I suggest we talk about the new 20th Anniversary menus and the Dinner + Dreams which will be offered at selected restaurants.
"20 ans" Menu:- Au Chalet de la Marionnette (Fantasyland, Disneyland Park).
- Café Hyperion (Discoveryland, Disneyland Park).
- Restaurant en Coulisse (Front Lot, Walt Disney Studios Park).

- Silver Spur Steakhouse (Frontierland, Disneyland Park).

If a have a Full Board Plan, may I have the chance to choose the "Dinner + Disney Dreams!" menu?
Didn't Philippe Gas mention in the round table discussion last year, that DLRP asked decorated chefs to create new menus for the table service restaurants? What happened to that?
I will definitely get a bottle of wine when I visit. The 15th birthday wine was very good.
And in general DLRP should bring their menu to the 21st century. It's a shame what they offer throughout the resort, especially in the fast food restaurants. The service should also be improved. They are far behind the Disney standard found in the US parks.
I'm interested to see how the Silver Spur location will work as an exclusive viewing area, as.. well. You can't see the Plaza or Castle.. I guess that'll be a eat your food and then you have access to a viewing area afterwards?
An exclusive viewing area? I'm interested to see how this one would work. It would have to be in Central Plaza, and, or the Castle Stage for a side view. We would have diner and then go on to the viewing area afterwards I assume, shortly before the show starts.
I think it'll be in Central Plaza. You have dinner and then you show some kind of ticket which allows you to access the viewing area.
I would go for it if Disney really plan to do it, they will charge extra for it I assume? It'll save standing around for ages to get a good view.
I'm betting the viewing area will be at that balcony at the back of the Castle Stage.
The balcony at the back of the castle stage isn't very big, so if the exclusive viewing area is there the number of people able to use it will be very limited per show. Very exclusive.

that gap looks a bit like a wheelchair accessible viewing area to me!
Quote from: "DopeyDad"that gap looks a bit like a wheelchair accessible viewing area to me!
Now I've been thinking all night and a possibilty was that it would be their due you won't have a great view and those places wouls be worse then the 'normal' once. I'm really curious how they gonna pull this one of.
Quote from: "DopeyDad"that gap looks a bit like a wheelchair accessible viewing area to me!
I just joked about it being a viewing area in the Dreams thread! Surely not... for technical equipment, I'd imagine?
The viewing area can't be around the castle stage, surely. It'll have to be somewhere directly facing the castle. Would they dare roping off a section in the middle of Central Plaza? I'd hope they'd make it a bit more conspicuous than that, it's not like Disney to throw higher-paying guests in your face. Perhaps... Main Street Station?
I'm just trying to guess something first :) but really, it would probably be too small an area for disabled access viewing at DLP.
I thought I read, unless I'm mistaken, that there are special restaurant menus for WoC at DCA. Of course it's different there because the show is on the lagoon with a large viewing area. Maybe that's where the idea comes from and a rumour got started.
Main Street Station ? I doubt that because you would'nt see alot of the water screens because of the high buildings (and the projectors).
I'm interested to see the prices and see where the viewing area is as this is something I would probably pay once to do.
I was thinking that they might rope an area off to the side of Discovery Land, or Adventure Land. But what do I know lol.
It 100% sure won't be Castle Stage , picture : InsideDLParis

Glad thats been ruled out. It has to be at the side somewhere then, or in the Central Plaza hub area.
Is'nt there an ouside area with tables and chairs in front of Plaza gardens restaurant and behind the information hoarding? This area would be good for viewing and would be easy to rope off and fairly inconspicuous, although the seating would'nt be tiered or anything.
I don't think there is anywhere obvious for this if they are going to do it. I would have thought the seating area in front of Plaza Gardens is too small. An exclusive viewing area would have to be more central I would have thought, Plaza Gardens is off to the side. And depending on how much extra it's going to cost, we might be better off watching Dreams from Main Street?
Did any of this become anything more than a rumour? The idea of viewing one showing of Dreams from the Founders Bar followed by dinner at the California Grill, sounds wonderful.
Finally we have some news about these meals.
According to La Gazette de DLHFan; http://la-gazette-de-dlh-fan.over-blog.com/ (http://la-gazette-de-dlh-fan.over-blog.com/%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;)
[Exclusive] Here are several details about the special meal for Dreams. First, an appetizer will be offered at the Founders Club overlooking the Park and the show, whose music will be broadcast simultaneously in the room. Champagne will be included. Then, the meal held at the California Grill proposes a single menu composed of: a starter (foie gras or salmon), a main course (beef, turbot, cod or half a lobster) and a dessert (pastries). Wine will be included. Concerning the prices: €199 per adult and €69 per child. This information is subject to change. However, the source is reliable.
Ewis on DCP has posted this about the Dreams Meal at Silver Spur and Walts'
"The menu will be served from April 1 to September 30, at Walt's and the Silver Spur, except in May and June, when the Silver Spur will be closed: the menu will be served at Walt's and the Blue Lagoon.
The offer is unique and costs € 40 for adults and € 20 for children. The restaurant's reservation is mandatory, at least two hours before showtime.
The meal will entitle you to access a VIP area to watch the show. You must without fail be in the VIP area 30 minutes before the show begins. You can book the restaurant at any time, provided you are present 30 minutes before the hour of Dreams at the entrance to the VIP area.
Also note, your table will be reserved until the time indicated on your reservation. DLP usually tolerate a "courtesy delay" of 15 minutes, but this will * not * valid for the special 20th anniversary menu: remember to be on time.
The menu consists of an starter (to choose between two options), a main course (choice between a fish or meat dish ) and dessert: special "20th Anniversary" cake.
Drinks are not included. It is possible to buy a special bottle of wine 20th birthday, at a price of € 20.
CRO does not know if it will be possible to use a PA or reduction Shareholders, but there is no particular reason that they are denied."
Carrie_Cat on the DISboards also confirmed the menu for Walts.
"- Carpaccio of Scallops with summer vegetables or Baby leaf spinach salad with Serrano ham and melon
- Sea bass on a bed of cress, red rice, salad and sauce vierge or Lamb with a herb crust served with ratatouille
- Special 20th anniversary dessert"
Just noticed its only served up until Sept 30th??? Weird.
Then the menu will change I think (seasonal ingredients and stuff) ;).
Quote from: "Glstitch"Then the menu will change I think (seasonal ingredients and stuff) ;).
They need to serve something that doesn't involve fish or foie gras, I don't like either.
The selections are really limited.
If i buy 20th champagne in the park - can i open it and drink inside park? Any restriction?

They even sell beer in the parks... the alcohol rule is gone , sadly already saw drunk people during my last visit.(november)

I'm pretty sure you have always been allowed to drink alcohol during your meal.

Yes , at restaurants but they we're selling beer in a take-away...
Cor, the price for the Founders Club/California Grill is pretty steep
I wasn't entirely scared away, but then I googled for a view of the Castle from the Founders Club, and that finished the job. I can't see it being worth the extra. I think I'll just stick to a standard meal at the California Grill.
I'm seriously tempted by the Walt's option though. I wonder where the VIP area is and how it compares to the Wheelchair areas?
Quote from: "Tigerlilly"I'm seriously tempted by the Walt's option though. I wonder where the VIP area is and how it compares to the Wheelchair areas?
I'm sure the novelty of the VIP area is that you can show up 30 minutes before the show and have a great view, rather than sit about for an hour or so. I read on DCP that there are no wheelchair areas, I'm not sure if that's confirmed or not though.
Quote from: "littlemermaid83"The menu consists of an starter (to choose between two options), a main course (choice between a fish or meat dish ) and dessert: special "20th Anniversary" cake.
Once again, being vegetarian prevents me from having a treat like this, and therefore preventing lil sis from getting it too. I really wish Disneyland would be a little more accomodating to different diets.

Yes that would figure, I should imagine it'll be in a prime spot too. I'm almost certain to book it for when I go as I'd planned to dine at Walt's anyway and if it's a different menu, the Blue Lagoon too. Looking forward to it already!
Quote from: "15MagicalYears"I read on DCP that there are no wheelchair areas, I'm not sure if that's confirmed or not though.
I'd be seriously surprised by that, it goes against DLP's normally excellent provision for wheelchair users that I've always experienced when there.
Quote from: "Tigerlilly"I wonder where the VIP area is and how it compares to the Wheelchair areas?
I can't remember where, but someone on this forum said that it's right in the middle of Central Plaza.
Any one knowns if we can pay with meal plan vouchers?

I have the same problem and that's why we don't bother that much anymore with DLRP. WDW or DLA are so much better in costumer service, especially when it comes to food. Even Hong Kong DL does a better job for vegetarians. We just have to live with that, or go to the US resorts.
At what time does the Dreams show start?
What are the times (earliest/latest) you can reserve this diner?
About Vegetarians. Vegetarians can eat fish can't they and restaurants at DLP serve it. They don't have to go to Hong Kong Disneyland and WDW for fish.
There are many types of vegetarians, but seriously, fish are animals too, aren't they? So no, vegetarians normally don't eat fish...
I thought it was vegans who couldn't eat meat and fish, it's obviously the same thing then.
Quote from: "ed-uk"I thought it was vegans who couldn't eat meat and fish, it's obviously the same thing then.
No. Vegans don't consume anything that associates with animals, this includes dairy products and eggs etc. Vegetarians don't eat meat or fish. DLP definitely don't cater to Veggies as well as other resorts, that's something they should really try work on.
@ ed-uk:
Yes, there are several kinds of vegetarians, like 15MagicalYears and Someguy already have pointed out. My girlfriend is vegan, which means she doesn't eat any animal based products, while I'm a vegetarian. I don't eat meat and that includes for me red meat, fish and chicken. So you can say I don't eat animals.
It just amazes me that Europe's biggest tourist destination still doesn't cater vegetarians. For example when we have been to WDW, nearly each restaurant, table service or counter service, offered vegetarian products. Once we have eaten at a table service restaurant and we told the waiter about our diet, she asked for the chef and he explained the menu and what he can prepare for us. Half a year later we tried the same thing at Walt's and the restaurant manager got angry and didn't talk to us anymore. At least a very friendly Spanish waitress tried to get something for my girlfriend and she got overcooked vegetables with plain rice for 17 Euros. At least we got an apology by Disney's Guest Relations department. Many will say that's a one time thing and it's not that bad, but even if it was, it's bad for Disney's reputation. If I wouldn't be a Disney fan, I guess I wouldn't return. And I'm pretty sure that we are not the only ones who had bad experiences about vegetarian or vegan food. On the other hand we had a wonderful experience at Cafe Mickey and Rainforest Cafe. They did everything to prepare a vegan meal for my girlfriend. Maybe it's a coincidence, but back then both restaurants were operated by Group Flo. Now we are better prepared and will eat at Val D'Europe. Agrabah Cafe is also a good option for vegetarians. I don't know what happened, but between 2006 and 2008, the vegetarian offers were better than in the last two years.
I think it wouldn't kill the restaurants to offer at least one vegetarian option, which can be altered to be vegan. It was possible in many Parisian restaurants to get a good vegan meal and so it should be possible at Europe's biggest tourist destination. I'm sure there are more vegetarians out there who enjoy Disney.
What about Plaza Gardens have you tried that, they have a good selection like Agrabah Cafe? But then I'm not a vegetarian.
The buffet options are fine in general, but the dreams menu doesn't work for vegetarians.
Quote from: "ed-uk"What about Plaza Gardens have you tried that, they have a good selection like Agrabah Cafe? But then I'm not a vegetarian.
We thought that too, but unfortunately it wasn't. Agrabah Cafe was a better choice and I can really recommend it to all vegetarians and omnivores!! Maybe we should try it again in September.
Maybe they need to introduce a vegetarian menu in some of the restaurants. When Cafe Mickey came up with a vegan meal for your girl friend the restaurant did well, because I've read mixed revues about Cafe Mickey.
Quote from: "ed-uk"Maybe they need to introduce a vegetarian menu in some of the restaurants. When Cafe Mickey came up with a vegan meal for your girl friend the restaurant did well, because I've read mixed revues about Cafe Mickey.
I've read many bad reviews, too, but we have always had a wonderful time there and the food was also always fine. I have to say that we have always been there during off seasons and either in the early afternoon or early evening. So the crowds were low.
Well I'm not a vegetarian and so I've never had trouble with the food. I've been to DLP in all seasons and service in restaurants can be a bit slow, but then I've had really good service, too. If it's busy you just have to allow more time.
Apparently unless the meals are a success they will not continue after the 30th September.
I would like to try the special menu in Walts if it's possible, probably only do it once. I assume it will be quite expensive.
Quote from: "littlemermaid83"Apparently unless the meals are a success they will not continue after the 30th September.
That's understandable, they're probably considering it a trial period to see how popular it is.
Well I booked Walt's Dinner & Dreams for my first night and Blue Lagoon for 2 nights later. Forgot to ask what the BL menu would be, but they did say it would be different to Walt's.
The VIP area is by Casey's corner and does have room for wheelchairs. Can't wait!
(I should add, I'm going at the start of May, hence the BL)
(I should also add that the final reservation time for a DInner & Dreams meal is 7.00pm)
Quote from: "Tigerlilly"The VIP area is by Casey's corner and does have room for wheelchairs. Can't wait!
Oh well at least it isn't at the front of Central Plaza which is where I was planning on stalking out my space.
What is the view from the Blue Lagoon? Is it possible to see something? BL is little far from castle, isnt it?
It's Casey's corner again, you have the meal then then they give you access to the VIP area (via a bracelet I believe)
I'm going back in August, can I book the VIP Dinner/Dreams prior to my visit (like today) or do I have to wait until I check into my hotel.

Yes you can book your Dreams menu prior to your visit.
I have jut phoned dinner reservations. You cannot book for August until June!

Correct, the booking horizon for restaurant reservations is 3 months.
Thanks for sharing time schedule for booking restaurant
Could we use the meal plan vouchers?
Quote"The menu will be served from April 1 to September 30, at Walt's and the Silver Spur, except in May and June, when the Silver Spur will be closed: the menu will be served at Walt's and the Blue Lagoon.
Do you know or anyone else know the actual dates that the Silver Spur will be closed on during the month of May?
So how do you go about actually booking a Disney Dreams dining package. Do you mention it over the phone when making your usual dining reservations. I have today booked to visit in just six weeks time. And I obviously have a great deal to organise like dining reservations.
I believe the only day in May the Silver Spur is open is the 1st, from the 2nd onwards it's at the BL.
As to booking just ring the usual number and just say you want to book Dinner and Dreams.
Do we know what the special menu is for the steakhouse?
I am in the United States and are planning a trip for September and I was hoping those of you more experienced with DLRP could help me with some questions I have.
I do see where I can call to make reservations for restaurants, but I did notice when I go to the official DLRP website and book a hotel stay I have the option of pre-purchasing a meal at places like Cafe Mickey, Cowboy Cookout, etc. When you click on the link to book a dining reservation it only gives a day you want to reserve/pre-pay for the meal, not a time. How does this work? Is the meal voucher good for all day, or will I still have to call and make a reservation time? I'd appreciate any help someone could give me.
I didn't know you could make reservations on the Web. It might be easier just to book via the phone at your hotel. Chances are that you'll get a table without a problem. :)
So the VIP area is directly behind the new control booth? Not greatest view I must say :?
Yes I was wondering where the vip area would be ,seems like not the best place to see the show.
Hoping someone will post the experience for this offer
Heres'the Dream package menu for the Silver Spur(//http://i767.photobucket.com/albums/xx319/PeteHawke/P1030620.jpg)
If anyone's interested, I've got photos of two of the meals:

Even if it was really pricey, it was a great meal. I wasn't fond of a salmon, but I guess I'm not used to it being cold.
Hi
just back from the resort where we visited on the 12th and 13th.
We booked the Disney Dreams Menu at the Silver Spur. Of the 4 of us eating one was a vegetarian and they allowed her to pick off the a la carte menu. They also allowed 2 others pick their main course of the a la carte as neither facined either of the 2 main course offerings. We booked for 7pm and finished at 9pm. The server was unsure of where exactly the vip viewing area was located, the same lack of info was encountered by 3 other cast members in front of the castle. As it was quiet crowded when we arrived we just watched with everyone else in the area where the stage used to be located. When the show was over we found out that the viewing area was at Caseys. Now I did not see the show from Casey;s but I would feel that as a "vip" area that it would have left a lot to desired.
It'd be interesting to see what the views are from the VIP seating for Walts and California Grill. Anyone have any pics of these they'd like to post?
Agree ,can someone post pics of the VIP viewing ,would be a great help
Hello where i can find opening / closing times for restaurants in DLP on May 2012? Agrabah Cafe, Blue Lagoon... And which will be completely closed? Thank you!
Booked for May 28th "Walts" .
Wondering were the Vip viewing is ,on the telephone I was told its been changed .
ooh, let us know someone! i was going to book it also for the 28th but after hearing where the vip area was I did not bother, but maybe I will still book if it is now in a better spot!
Someone tweeted that the new VIP area is next to the control booth ...anyone heard anything .????
Do you mean it's in front of the control booth? Otherwise, it's in the same place. :)
We were there in April and didnt bother with the package as the VIP area was awful near Caseys Corner, although when we enquired at City Hall the CM did say it may change in the future as they were intending to get feed back from guests. Hope it has, the VIP area was rubbish! If it does might treat ourselves when we return in August.
We had booked the dinner for my birthday (wednesday, it was my 30th ^___^) and the area was located directly afoot the little house where the people controlling the show sit in. As we had the wheelchair, we were glad about it, since we have had a very bad experience from new year's eve 200)/2010 when my poor sister sitting in her wheelchair (and us as well) could not even breathe with all those pople squeezing everywhere
Hi,
Has anyone tried viewing Dreams from the Founders Club; if so how good is the view, is it worth paying extra just to watch a show?
We're going in August and looking to book California Grill special Dreams menu for one of the nights, but I would appreciate feed back if you think it worth it.
thanks :)
Does anyone know the Spanish telephone number for reservations?
I watched Dreams from the Founders Club balcony in Castle Club which goes with the VIP Dreams meal in California Grill. I was fortunate to be invited, so didn't pay the € 199 adult price of the special meal - I just had dinner there from the main menu at 6pm.
I was videoing during Dreams so didn't take photos, but personally although it was a great experience I was glad that I had already seen Dreams standing directly in front of the Castle, as you cannot see everything from the balcony. Some of it is hidden by buildings on Main Street, and you really need binoculars to see the projections properly. The music also seemed faint compared to being in the park closer to the Castle.
This is the view you have, in daylight and after dark, from the balcony.

You can see that as your are not directly facing Main Street and the Castle, the right side is partially blocked by Main Street buildings.
Don't book this just for watching the show, as you may be disappointed. The lasers and fountains looked fabulous from there though.
Hope this helps.
The VIP Dreams meal in California Grill can only be booked through the Concierge Desk at the Disneyland Hotel, not through Disney Dining Reservations.
Compare the distant view of the Castle from the balcony with the photos of Dreams I took standing right in front of it.

If anyone can give current VIP Dreams menus for Walts, Blue Lagoon and Silver Spur I would be very grateful. I know they have added more choices including vegetarian ones, but full menus would be much appreciated.
The main point of the VIP area in the park is not for the best view, but to have a reserved less crowded area where you can arrive 30 mins before Dreams begins, knowing you will not have people crowding you. People who have done this with young children said it was worth doing. One of the Guest Flow CMs on duty there told me that only 60 guests are allowed into the VIP area. The area is in front of the Dreams Control building, so behind the circle where the large stage used to be, looking across Central Plaza where many people gather to watch the spectacular.
I was happy to get my place right in front of the Castle at 9.30pm for 11pm show, but not everyone wants to wait that long, especially if the ground is wet and you have to stand for 1.5 hrs ( as I did on 3 nts ). My last day was hot and sunny, so everyone sat on the dry ground to wait and watch Dreams, which meant more people had a better view at the front.
There is a special section on the pavement at the rear of the roundabout in front of the castle. Since the area has been flattened you get a cracking view so long as there aren't any people standing on the grass. We didnt bother as obviously the meals are more expensive and you can get a great view anyway on the roundabout itself. Walts had a menu for 40 euros and I know a couple of other restaurants were offering Dreams Menus. The reserved viewing area could still be a bit of a squash I think. The Disneyland Hotel offer a package for 199 Euros per person! You get pre dinner drinks in the bar, a meal in California Grill and then private viewing from Castle Club.
Hi Figgygirl, did you or anyone else ever find out the menu's for walts, silver spur and blue lagoon dreams meals. I am going with 8 people and one is only veggie and I need to know before I book what is available. If anyone has any info I would be most grateful.

I've seen the menus (Silver Spur and Walt's, appartently Blue Lagoon is no longer available for the Dreams package), and although I can't remember the details there were definitely no vegetarian options (you had a choice between fish and meat). But I have seen mentioned in a few places that you can ask for a vegetarian alternative.
Is it only guest staying in the castle club suite that are allowed to see the dreams show form the balcony in the fonder club or can guest who staying the rooms in the rest of the Disneyland Hotel also to see the dreams show from the balcony of the founder club.
We ate at Walts having the VIP menu, There were items which did not suit some of our parties tastes so we asked if we could subsitute items from the regular menu, which was agreed without any fuss.
The VIP area whilst not in the best place, was not full we walked around it to get the best view. we arrived 2 minutes before Fantilusion and was at the front and that was during the school holidays. Saying that I did get hassle from those behind the VIP area saying I was in their way.

You need to book the Dreams package dinner in the DLH to view the show from the Founder's Club (at the very moderate price of about 200 euro per person); I don't think you need to stay in the Castle Club to book it though.
Hi never2old does Disney Dreams Dining Package include Walt's restaurant. And where exactly do you go for the VIP viewing after you ate at Walt's restaurant.

Walt's is included, yes (the other restaurant in the Steakhouse in Frontierland).
I'll found out exactly on Sunday (I've booked a Dream dinner package in Walt's), but from what I've gathered here the viewing area is next to Casey Jr.
I'll try to take lots of pictures this weekend and share them here!!
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Dreams package. Have a great time.
how do you book the silver spur steakhouse with dreams package and can someone please post a picture of the vip area where you watch dreams,i cant quite picture where it is
thank you
Hello all! I'm just back from a wonderful trip! I will post some pics soon, but I wanted to give you a quick update on the Dreams package.
We had dinner at Walt's (we just booked the restaurant normally and mentioned it was for the Dreams package, for a 21:00 show the latest we could have dinner at was 18:00).
For the menu we had a choice of two starters and two main courses (and I have to say, that was probably the best meal I've had in the whole stay), and then the 20th anniversary dessert.
After dinner they give you a little bracelet (and ask you to keep the receipt just in case), and then you can go to the VIP viewing area. I don't know if they've changed it (I thought it was by Casey's Corner), but in fact it's now just in front of the Dreams control booth. You have a great view from there. And there's plenty of room to move around. We were leaning against the fence, with no one in front of us.
It was totally worth it, I really recommend it!
I'll post some pics soon
never2old, glad to read you had a great time! Looking forward for the trip report and pics! :)
Regarding Dreams package, do you know if it will continue during October? How much does it cost, and do you know if we can use meal vouchers to pay for it (paying the extra of course!)!
Thanks a lot! :)

Originally they said the package would only be available until end of September, but I'm hoping they continue it, I don't see why they wouldn't, and to be honest I would go for it again next time we visit.
I think it was 40 euro per person, and yes, you can use your vouchers as their face value. I could use the shareholders discount!
If they continue with the package i'll definitly go for it! It's good to have an insider's opinion! :D
Looking at the daily schedule for next week I would say they continue the Dinner Package:

And the lamb:

(sorry we both had the same... and all the other tables around us seemed to be also having the lamb, so I have no idea what the seabass looked like!)
And the 20th anniversary dessert:

The food was delicious. I had the scallops carpaccio (really tasty!!) and my husband the salad (he said it was very good). And the lamb... I think that was the best lamb I've ever had. So tender, it melted in the mouth. And delicious.
The dessert was also very good (personally I woud have liked something with more chocolate...)
And now I'm hungry again  :P
Hi never2old I hope the dreams menu is still in Walt's on march 21st to 25th March 2013.
Thanks for the info!
The best meal I've ever had at Disney was Walts and was considering booking this for my Christmas trip. Since they seemed to have ensured you get a premium view as well now, will definitely do so!
the meal looks wonderful!!
So i've just called to make reservations and it was ok for Dreams package do Saturday 20th Oct. However, I got the impression that it will only be available on weekends - due to park closing times, probably!
Really looking forward!! :)
I'm going midweek but during high Christmas season (the week between Christmas and New Year) so I'm hoping and somewhat assuming it'll be available then since it's peak.
Does anyone have any further info about this in December? We are going midweek but it's low season. Would consider this if it's running as we have 2 small children.
