Title: Half board meal plans with hotel booking - HELP!!
Post by: AmyStripes on October 01, 2015, 05:05:02 PM
Ok so even though we are seasoned pros at Disney (been every year for the last 13 years).  We have never done the meal plans or gone to a sit down restaurant for food, as we always would much rather getting small amounts and spending as much time round the park as possible.

This time when we booked to go for Halloween (super excited), we got half board meal vouches as part of the deal in booking to stay at the Santa Fe.  But when i read further in to the meal plans i am getting confused over the different levels, were we can use them and which level we actually have got.

Have any of you disnerds got these vouches with your bookings or can you shed a little light on to this for me please.

Thank you

I can only shed light as so much as we had premium meal vouchers last time.

Depending when you booked you would either have hotel, standard, plus or premium vouchers. If its hotel only you can only eat in your hotel i.e. Santa Fe buffet. The other options have additional restaurants or can be used for there monetary value at any of the Disney owned restaurants.

E.g. Premium vouchers were worth around 50 euros and so we could have as much food to a limit of 50 euros or use it for one of the character dining experiences. You can use any voucher at face value to contribute towards a meal.

I was honestly so confused but its really clear on the back of the voucher where you can use them!  The only thing to consider is if you want to use them at face value for a higher priced meal.

Ah ok lovely, thank you.

I have no idea what we have got (will have to try and dig out the booking forms), so just to be sure the hotel ones can only be used in the hotels and not in the restaurants and pay the difference? xx

Yes the hotel ones only work in the hotels. However, if you've been given free vouchers with your booking then at the Santa Fe that would normally be Standard vouchers, which entitle you to eat at the buffet restaurants Plaza Gardens, Buzz's Pizza Planet, Café Agrabah, Restaurant des Stars, La Grange, La Cantina, Chuck Wagon Café, and Crockett's Tavern.

If you got standard half board as an offer with your holiday booking you can use them in the restaurants listed above PLUS any other disney restaurant in both parks or village as part payment towards a meal. The exceptions being (as far as I'm aware) rainforest cafe and planet Hollywood.

You'll get breakfast and either lunch or dinner plus pause gaumand (teatime treat) between 3pm and 7pm that is a drink plus a snack ie. muffin, icecream, Mickey cake etc.

You can use vouchers for set menus in certain restaurants, to cover cost in buffet restaurant or as part payment in more expensive ones eg. Blue lagoon, Walt's etc. I'm not sure of current amount per voucher (different values for adults and children) but would be interested to know as we're half board at Halloween and planning mostly premium restaurants so will pay the difference each evening. We got it 'free' by booking through Austrian site so it's all a bonus really!

Yeah if its Disney owned you can use it - Planet Hollywood, King Ludwigs, Rainforest Cafe are all out I'm afraid.
