Title: Pin Pics - Post Pics of Your Favourite Pins
Post by: Anonymous on June 30, 2007, 12:35:21 PM
Just a suggestion - people should try and keep pictures to within 640 pixels wide. Any bigger and it starts to disrupt the layout of the thread and makes it more difficult to read.  :)

I thought this would make an interesting thread. I've built up a large collection of pins over the last year or so, and regularly buy pins on Ebay.

I'm not proposing to post pics of all your pins in one picture, though you can if you want. But thought it would mainly be an idea to share nice close up pictures of some of your favourite pins - and I've got the perfect pin to start off the topic.

I was thinking off posting a new pic every few days. The topic might fall flat on it's face, but I hope not, and hopefully everyone will enjoy it.

:)

Here's my first pic. I got this one a couple of months ago on Ebay. Thought it was an awesome pin when I saw it, and had to have it.

It's cool isn't it. I think this is the only pin I've ever seen with Walt on.

:)

:o I have a really nice Walt pin myself. It's a silver heart-shaped locket with Walt Disney engraved on the front. When you open it, on the left hand side Walt Disney's autograph is engraved, with Dec. 5, 1901 engraved underneath. :D Then on the right hand side, there's a lenticular picture of Walt as a baby, which changes to a picture of him as an adult.

:) It's really lovely. Sadly, the PinPics picture of it shows the locket closed, and our Digicam isn't really good enough to take non-blurred pictures of pins.

So for my first of many fave pins, I pick this one.

:P As you can see from the penny next to it, this is a Jumbo pin, and Cheshire's head spins on it!

I got a bunch of Jumbo Ariel pins recently, amongst them, this lovely Easter pin, which features Ariel as a bunny girl!

Nice one. I assume these are the pewter pins you're talking about. Is it just those you collect? And are they just Pooh characters?

This one is a Limited Edition Disney Auctions pin, LE of 100.

I got this one last year, on Ebay after being bitten by the pin collecting bug. It's just one of many Belle / Beauty and the Beast pins.

Yup, thats one of my pewter pins. They're not all WTP. I've got a couple of Mickey and a Grumpy. I've only got 8 at the moment.

The kids have got about 70! I'll ask them their favourite and get a shot of them to put on here.  :D

Like the Belle pin. Very dreamy

Getting better at photographing them. :)

I love tigers, and I love Disney Princesses, so it's only natural that one of my favourite pins combines both.

This was a DLRP one - but it was one I won on Ebay. The back just says Refresh Lanyard - not sure what that means or if it was a limited edition or anything. I've never seen it on sale in the Parks.

A few more pins this morning. :)

I've seen very few Briar Rose pins, but I came across a couple earlier this year. I love Aurora in her Briar Rose guise, it's a lovely costume. This pin is marked up on the back as Pin Celebration 2002.

This big Beauty and the Beast pin was a Limited Edition Valentine's Pin of 250. It features a dangling heart.

This lovely head and shoulders of Belle is a Disney Auctions Pin, LE of 250.

Finally, this Jumbo Ariel pin is another Disney Auctions Pin, this one a LE of 500.

Another selection of Pin Pics.

This is from a set of 6 pins issued in 2007, presumably in the US. Each pin is a square with a storybook initial. The other 5 Princesses are on the other pins.

This cool 2006 pin features Mickey Mouse as Indiana Jones with his faithful sidekick Pluto. :)

A very dreamy looking Ariel on this Disney Auctions Pin. LE of 1000. I think it's a fairly recent pin, probably 2007.

And a lovely Belle name pin. I had one of these on my bag when I was going to DLRP in March, and it must have got bashed at some point because the enamel broke away on Belle's face. :(

I ended up giving that to my niece, but managed to get another one on Ebay recently. I've also got a similar Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella pin. I've no idea if there are Snow White, Jasmine and Ariel one's available too. This was a Disney Auctions LE of 1000, though we know now for a fact that there only 999 mint editions of it left. :)

Another selection of pins.

I won't be posting as often during the week, you can tell it's the weekend.

Here we have the second of those storybook initial pins, this time featuring Cinderella.

Next up is a dangle pin featuring Snow White. I'm a bit confused with these. I have 6 of these, 1 of each Princess. The other 6 are all dated 2006, but Snow White is dated 2007. Seems a bit strange, I'd have thought they would have all been issued as a set.

Next up is a Hollywood Star Aurora - in her Briar Rose attire again. This is a 2007 pin, LE of 1000. I've got an Ariel one like this too.

Finally, a nice Ariel jewelled pin. This is a 2006 pin.

This first pin today is the latest pin I've got, just received today. It's a 2006 LE of 500 and it's huge. In fact, that's the only problem with it, for some reason they've only put one pin on the back, meaning it's not very secure for it's size. But other than that, it's a lovely pin.

Next up is the third of the Storybook Initial Pins featuring Aurora. These are all lovely pins featuring glittery letters and great detail.

Third up today is the second of the Princess Icons Dangle pins, this one featuring Cinderella, with a dangling coach. Very nice pin.

And the last one is a portrait pin featuring Ariel. It's a painted image in a pin frame. Not sure about this one, because it doesn't feature the Pin Trading logo on the back and say's Made in Taiwan.  :?

Although I have seen others of these portrait series pins on Ebay, and they usually go for a fairly high price.

More pins tomorrow.

Took a bit longer than I intended, but back again with more pins.

First up, another of the lovely storybook initial princess pins, this time Ariel. Guess who's next?

Then the next of the icons dangle pins, which features Aurora and the Three Fairies. I love this pin, really nice, dreamy image of Aurora.

Then an older pin, a 2003 Jasmine pin. quite a nice pin on pin framed image.

And I couldn't post without another Belle pin. This is 2006 LE of 250 of Belle in her Christmas outfit. Has an embedded 'gem' holly on her collar. Lovely pin.

dark prince - another thing i forgot to say is that (if you dont already know) you can buy pin backs on ebay that sort of screw on to your pins or something to keep them secure so if you wanted to wear your jumbo princess one that i have fallen in love with then if you get those you wont have any worries about losing it

Have you got a link to those?

I'd be interested in seeing what they are.

Thanks.

These are just a pin back aren't they though, instead of using the Mickey head. What this pin really needs is another pin or two on the back, it's kind of off balance as well with the placing of the pin.

I think it's really strange for a pin of it's size that they only bothered to put a single pin on it.

Oh well, will post some more pics later today - off for breakfast now.  :)

Another selection of pins.

The fourth of the Princess Icons dangle pins - Ariel.

Strangely, this is my favourite of the Princess Storybook Initial pins.

Another Princess name pin - a nice Aurora.

And the start of another set. These are a 2006 set, of the Princesses in a floral wreathe.  Most of them have got a 3D pin on pin element to them, but the Aurora and Ariel ones don't. I haven't come across a Jasmine one yet either.

:) Will post more later.  :)

Nah, not quite. Ariel's missing.

And what about Giselle, Kida, Jane, Alice, Eilonwy, Esmeralda, Megara, Mulan and Pocahontas.

Actually, I don't have any pins yet with Jane, Esmeralda, Eilonwy, Kida and Pocahontas on. I should imagine there will be plenty of Giselle pins soon enough. Expect Eilonwy and Kida are particularly hard to come by.

Oh, and just a suggestion - people should try and keep their pin pics to within 640 pixels wide. If they get any bigger, it disrupts the layout of the thread, and makes it harder to view.  :)

These are smaller than the Princess Minnie's at DLRP, and nicer I think.

I've got a few of these little plushes. Also got from DLRP, a Pirates Pluto (holding the keys in his mouth), a Pirate Mickey, Aerosmith Goofy,Astro Donald and Astro Minnie.

From the US, I've got a Jedi Mickey (very cute), and a Darth Mickey (bit weird). I'll have to post some pics of these at some point.

Just thinking, at this rate, I'll be able to put on a production of Star Wars with Mickey and Minnie's.

We need a Mickey Solo, Plubacca, Emperor Palpapete, Padminnie Naberrie (or is it Queen Amidaisy?), Obi-Don Kenobi, Jar Jar Goof - the possibilities are endless.

Well, I guess you can tell that Stitch is my weakness!  It's a wonder that I only came back from WDW with, let's see, only about 3 pins because there were just so many to choose from!  Off to DLRP in just over a week so goodness knows what I'll come back with this time.

(//http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/4599/1004439im5.th.jpg) (//http://img113.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1004439im5.jpg)

But hmmm.  I thought all my pins were together but I seem to be missing my very first ones (another Dumbo and Flounder - bought way back when the Disney Stores first appeared and you could actually buy things like badges there).

Title:

I think I bought the guitar one off Ebay - which is why he's not on his tag.  I'm not over keen on the larger ones (even the angel/devil one is a little too big for me) but since I don't actually wear them, guess it doesn't matter!

Title:
Post by: Hilary on July 12, 2007, 09:26:02 PM
Ha!  Yes, I figured from looking at the photos earlier in the thread that some would be pretty big.

I have to admit, I've no real reason for not liking them - I just don't seem to pay so much attention to them when I'm browsing.  But we'll see what I come back with in a week or so!
Title:
Post by: madame_leota on July 12, 2007, 09:31:27 PM
i like the bigger ones too. i bought a mini one off of ebay the other day so i wonder what sort of size that will be.

i will have a look for that stitch one on ebay later. i get most of my pins from there now as they dont have a big enough selection of stitch ones in dlp. now i have started to collect others and not have just stitch ones so im sure i will be going way over board with pins this september! :D
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on July 12, 2007, 09:34:18 PM
Must admit I was a bit disappointed with the pins at DLRP. I think the problem is the LE one's sell out quickly, and you're left with the standard release one's available in most shops at DLRP. I think if you want something special, you either have to be there the time the pins are issued, or, look on Ebay. I've got lots of limited editions, from 100, 250, 500 to 1000 edition sizes on Ebay, and some really nice pins.
Title:

yeah i have a few LE that i have bought from ebay. i was looking through pins the ohter day and when i looked on the back of a couple they are limited and i didnt even know it! nice supprise!

i would have loved to have got the OUADP pins, they are gorgeous, but like you say prince they sell out so fast! i looked for them on ebay and have had no luck so far! if anyone could actualy help with that i would be REALLY grateful. i just cant seem to find them on there. how many have they released so far, anyone know?

and is there a uk site like pinpics where you can trade online?

Never managed an LE pin yet :(

Tubbsy, there were some Star Wars pins released in February this year at DLRP. Jedi Mickey, Princess Minnie and Jedi Mickey and Yoda. I don't think they were limited, so you will probably be able to get them in October. I think they were 6 euro's each.

I've not posted any pics for a while so I'll make up for it with a bumper selection of pins today.  :D

First up is a selection of Minnie Mouse pins, dressed as various Disney Babes! These are all from DLRP, except the larger Ariel pin which I got on Ebay.

Next up are these nice Disney D pins. These are 2007 pins from the US.

Then we have the rest of the floral wreath style Princess pins.

A selection of Disney Star Wars pins. Tubbsy, the 3 on the left are the DLRP one's I mentioned. The Star Tours logo is also a DLRP pin.

Then a couple of nice selections of Belle pins. The 3D Rose shaped pin, with Belle holding the mirror is a 2004 pin. The glittery Belle pin with her smelling the rose is a DLRP pin. The dressing room mirror pin is a Disney Auctions LE of 1000, I actually have 2 of this pin - a second one came with a lot of several other pins.

There's a couple of festive pins. The Beauty and the Beast one is a LE of 1500 from DLRP. The Christmas tree one is a Disney Auctions LE of 250.

The large frame pin is a 2006 Disneyland LE of 1000 celebrating the 15th Anniversary of BATB. The Belle with Prince is a LE of 250 released this year.

Finally, these blue line portrait pins are Disney Auctions LE. There isn't a date on these, but all are limited to 1000 pins.

I was going to save the spare Belle one for my niece and give it to her as something from Disney when I get back in September. She won't know any different, and as far as she'll be concerned it will have come from DLRP.

Love the Minnie princesses and the Star Wars ones. Steph was very impressed by the Star Wars ones-definately a buy for her when we go me thinks.

Giving your niece the spare pin? Cor, I'd never do that, its like giving my nephew the soap and shower stuff from the hotel.....   He did get a Mickey mug and a Disney colouring set as well. And no it wasnt from Cafe Mickey, I paid for it

The Minnie as princess ones are very nice. They are exactly the same like the plush puppets they sell of her in DLP. I had one of them. But I don't like the Star Wars ones either. Although I'm a big fan of Star Wars ( and I'M a girl  ), but I don't know. I think I just don't like Mickey as Luke Skywalker or Minnie as Princess Leia. It's strange.

@ disney_donutter: nice pins you bought at Ebay. The Sheriff one is gorgeous. They sell very nice pins at Ebay uk, but at Ebay Germany they sell just a few. Most of my pins I need to buy at Ebay from the US or UK.    That's ok, but the shipping costs are always very high.

thanks disneyana! I love the sherrif one in particular too. it is great, but yes, the postage can be very expensive, there is a guy on Ebay though called "21turbo21" and he sells excellent pins and really good prices and you only pay one lot of postage too which is about $3.00 I think, he is really excellent :-)

These are perhaps the pride of my pin collection. This is a set of Limited Edition Jumbo pins issued this year. Each pin is about 2.5 inches tall and is limited to just 100 pins each. The Belle pin is gorgeous.

 I don't post in here much because the huge amount of images kills my comp.

:) I just thought I'd post that I bought 2 really gorgeous pins the other night off eBay. One is the 2nd Once Upon a Dream parade pin, the one with Cheshire on it. And the other is the Stitch Invasion pin where he invades Animagique. They were only $10 each, which is only £5 each at the current exchange rate. :P And the P&P wasn't bad either, considering they're coming from America. So it actually worked out cheaper (even with the P&P) to buy them off eBay than it would've done had I bought them at the park for 10.50 Euros. :D

I bought some pins off ebay at the end of August. They turned up today!

Hey ho, at least they go there. They're only basic pins, but I like them.
I got Snow White and the seven Dwarves. Ariel, Ursula and Flounder. Mickey and 7 of his gang and 11 Peter Pan pins.
I'm particularly chuffed with the Snow white pins. I'll try n post pictures of them later.

:? It's been over a week now and I haven't heard back from the person I bought these pins off. I don't even know if they've been shipped or not! I've sent a couple of e-mails, but no response, so I sent another today saying that if I haven't heard back from them soon, I'm opening a dispute.

:o UK Disney Store pins aren't great, so you're not really missing out. And not all DLRP Cast Members will trade for them, so I don't buy them anymore. :P If they got some nice ones in that I'd like to keep I would, but all the ones I've seen in our Disney Store haven't been great.

they had the ones in where there were 3 on one card of winnie, eeyore, piglet. it was well priced i think for £4

True. I bought 2 sets of them hoping to be able to trade them, but most Cast Members wouldn't accept them because they only say Disney on the back, but don't have a Pin Trading logo.

:o I ended up trading all of mine with other guests. :P I traded the Eeyore one with a little Eeyore-loving girl for the Cheshire Cat CM lanyard pin, so I was very pleased with that.

I don't think the Tinkerbell pin is an official Disney pin. I'm not sure of the origins of it. It was supposed to be a Tinkerbell as Belle pin, and it's quite a large pin, but there isn't any Disney copyright or name on the back.

It is quite a nice pin though.
