just watched the video and it sounds like they are not playing one sone all the way througth but diffrant for each float ! what about the new song ?
love the parade thougth :ears:
Maybe I was too quick to judge, seeing the parade, the effects are excellent!
The parade looks wonderful. I like this very colourful style. And all the floats are magically beautiful. The last two princess floats are gorgeous. The only sad thing, it seems like there are no life characters on the Alice float ?!
I understand where your coming from Davewasbaloo. I saw the photo's and thought it was ok. Then just watched the full video, and it looks fantastic! The Villans float blew me away. Ursula is just great. On the video, the final two floats are a real fitting end too!

I know what you mean, it's more like the generic stuff in the US parks now. I used to really love Dancing a Catchy Rhythm - such a feel good song.
just watched the video again and i realy am not sure about the music ,it sounds like there are to many diffrant sounds playing and it just sounds realy noisy with no theme wish they just had the one song playing all the way througth !
will this change i thought there was a new song?

The new song - Just Like We Dreamed It - is used to open the parade and during the show stops.
I haven't watched the videos, I'll wait until Friday to hear how it sounds actually in the park before judging. I don't think a video camera amongst the crowd can quite capture the music the same.
Should DLRP continue using Dancin' for eternity?? I think its time has passed. On its own, the orchestra-style float music sounds great, but I can imagine it might be a bit of a nightmare getting it to blend together. I wouldn't say it's "generic" like the US parks at all, it certainly has more than enough of its own style and I'm so glad they aren't just playing a single song on a loop anymore. Dancin' was the most generic song ever. Great and wonderful, but generic.
thats good then i was just hopeing that they would be using a song we could all love like dancin i just thought that they had changed there mind as i could not here it on the video :ears:
and i do think its great that they have got a new parade and song i guess it is just change and hoping that it will live up to all our expectations that bothers me :pluto:
cant wait to here what you think of the parade! when do you get back?
hope you take us some great photos :pluto:

Aren't you defending it before you've heard it???
I agree with what was said above - it seems a complete move away from whats gone before musically. I can't remember a time before when a parade song/tune has not instantly been a hit
Quote from: "Samninetysix"I agree with what was said above - it seems a complete move away from whats gone before musically. I can't remember a time before when a parade song/tune has not instantly been a hit
But
it is a complete move away - that was the plan!!
Dancin' was a complete move away from the first disney classics parade - which had a similar musical format as the Once Upon A Dream Parade is using, with each float having it's own musical presence.
To be honest I'd of prefered to have a constant underliner on the park speakers with variations on each float (like Disney's Cinema Parade and Fantillusion), it much easier to perform that way too, as the music can be pretty confusing if the park's speakers are out of sync with the floats and the music hasn't caught up to the correct float.
But the score on the first float is fantastic, the chorus version of "Just like we dreamed it" is really good - I'm sure most would agree.
When you watch the parade in the park - everything comes together much better, everytime you change dream you will hear the dreamy
"when you wish upon a star" before the music of the next float is played through park speakers - it does sound confusing on the videos, but works much better in the park.
The only thing I don't like is the very random way the words "Just Like We Drrreeeaaammmed it" blasts through all floats at certain points for a couple of seconds - it sounds, even in the park, like someone has pushed the wrong button. I know what wanted to be achieved - but it doesn't work.
And inital reaction in the park has been really postive - with people in tears at the end of the parade as the princesses dance to their tear-jerking score.

hey i agree with you, i was very lucky, i got to go on thurs and just came back....the new parade is fantastic,,,,,,, the all have smells and stuff which is wiked...and i got to see the last princess parade.... and my god, it was huge 12 dancers for each float.... and 40 plus characters and the steamboat willie dancers were back..... was so gooooood.......... i miss it already. we watched it right at the end of the route, and the dancers were crying.... emotional or what....
but they new parade is very good. im loving it....very impressed by the puppets and animatronics........
a few hicups that made me chuckle....
saw it saturday, and one of the heads fell off the lion king animals infront of the parade during the stop..... so they done the stop with no head with the guid running around with it... then finally deciding to plonk it right infront of the float tyers..., commical...
and mon....., we watched it on mianstreet, they done the stop but the 1st float then kinda stalled, and didnt move for bout 5 mins..... which was strange.....so afer that the whole parade was rushded......, ive never seen the princess section go that fast!!!!!, it was speeding down the street.
seen it 3 times and its sooo gd with all the voices..... and it really does all work..... urusal is f***ing amazing
I agree with people's views on the "just like we dreamed it" blasts. They really do come across as very random. A better way of implimenting the idea would be to re-record those "transitions" in the style of the next float so at least it doesn't seem out of place.
With that asside, the music does work very well however I would have prefered the underliner system if given the choice. The best thing about this idea is that you can hear all the character dialogue really clearly as they pass!

I talked to most of the creators of the parade (show director, costume designer, composer, songwriter, designer) and I'll put all that on my blog (it's in French), one each week. The first one is now available. It's a long interview with Katy Harris, show director of the parade. It was a lot of fun! I hope you'll enjoy it and find lots of info about the parade.
Quick question-
Since the official start this past weekend, were there any more performers added to the parade?
I believe someone mentioned that the full cast wasn't out for the previews, so I was just wondering?
thanks
tc
You know what? I'm spending a stupid amount of money going to DLRP by myself for a couple of days this July. It's really pretty stupid - and yet, when I look at those parade photos, I know it will be worth every penny :D

The parade is superb, even my 2 boys who were never that keen on the Princess Parade loved it. I'll just post one pic of my favourite float

Can anyone tell me though, who is the dragon on the end of the Prince/Princess' float ?

That would be figment, a walt disney world character from epcot I believe, no doubt an inside joke from disney themselves  .
Oh of course! Thanks for that.
Thankyou for the info I was sure I'd never seen him before. :)
One word - FANTASTIC!!!
Well done DLRP. All of the floats look amazing, I can't wait to see it myself :D
I saw it again on Saturday, but I am a little bit disappointed of the music.
Perhaps it was not normal and only a technical problem, but on Main Street USA there was no music for the parade. Only music came out of the floats.
They did not even play Just Like We Dreamed it or did an announcement...The normal Area Music from Main Street USA faded out when the first float has already passed :( There was no atmosphere and between the floats there was no music.
I hope this is only a problem and not normal...
HEy everyone!
Dose anyone know where I can get the music for the parade?
I've got the version with words but I would love the version without the words...
Oh well thanks for the help.
Bye!!! :pluto:

I heard it had some big technical difficulties the past week or so a few times. Other than that, folks have been sayiing it was all going smoothly.
The parade is brand new, and it may very well be the case (as what happens at times with new parades), that many tweaks will be made in the first few weeks to months of it showing. Also, there were a lot of brand new technical aspects introduced, as well as a whole new sound system- so it may take a while to get these things to run perfectly.
Heya guys, sorry for being a pain, but does anyone have the new parade music! It's absolutely brilliant, I was just wondering could someone send me the song if anyone has it! It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It was the Villians Float what has some big technical difficulties, It did it a couple of times later and before sadly so I think the float "may" be removed.
Oh NO! Thats a shame. It would have been great to see the complete parade.
Fingers crossed they get it sorted.
There are no plans whatsoever to remove the Villains float from the parade.
It has been running like a "dream" recently.
Quote from: "TowMater"It was the Villians Float what has some big technical difficulties, It did it a couple of times later and before sadly so I think the float "may" be removed.
The float itself is fine, it's mostly down to the engine inside it cutting out, plus I highly doubt dlrp would spend all that money and remove one of the greatest floats in the parade  .
 That's the most depressing rumour ever.
:P I'm not worried though. Like Pat said, there's no way they would spend all that money on making a superb float, just to pull it out of the Parade because of a few engine problems.
Don't worry, Poppy the Monkey confirmed that the Villains float won't be removed!!! Technical problems happen, even at Disney.
Yes, I know that Accidents can happen but I'm worried aswell but I just thought but removing one of the greatest and catchiest float in the parade to be removed but That will happen when some float line ups change for example:
Dreams of Imgaition
Dreams of Friendship
Dreams of Power
Dreams of Laughter and Fun
Dreams of Adventure
Dreams of Fanasty
Dreams of Romance (Part 1)
Dreams of Romance (Part 2)
They removed the Dumbo float in August 2006 but that was only when it is being re-painted and re-modled for Disney's Character Express.
They removed the new floats from WWODP in 1999.
So what will be removed next? The Disneys Cinema Parade's Studio Van Truck?
I bet what DLRP needs for that Float is a new engine - I bet that the engine inside now is a old one and I think that's why it keeps breaking down.
But if DLRP does get a new engine for it then the float MIGHT be removed for a week or two but they normally do construtions at night sometimes so they might do it then.

So what will be removed next? The Disneys Cinema Parade's Studio Van Truck?
Just to clarify the old wwodp floats were removed in 1999 to make way for imagiNations parade, also the studio van truck WAS removed from the cinema parade for a time last year and also was not even included originally in the parade line up. This new parade is not even a month old, stop deciding what will go already, cost cuttig is something Disneyland Paris seem to be trying to stop lately if you hadn't noticed  .
And all the engines are brand-new!
Its good to speculate, but there should be some fact behind it.
The float won't be removed in the foreseeable future. But technical problems happen all the time. The other week the Alice float was missing for 2 days, but its back again now, it happens - just enjoy and don't worry about the "behind the scenes" management side.
Gasp!
What happened to it and when did it happen?
Its back now!
It is removed at certain times of the year (oct/nov) when less cast are allocated to the Disney Cinema Parade.
No I meant the Alice float what happened to it?
Just engine trouble. Nothing major!
I think it is strange that there are so many engine problems now...The old floats were in use for a very long time and I can't remember missing a float when I was there or I never heard of bigger problems in the last 2 years (only one time when a float broke down)
Did they took the wrong engines or just cheap engines? Really strange in my eyes, because a simple float engine is not that complex.
When we were in DLRP in August, Sleeping Beauty was missing for a coupla days cos of engine trouble.
A couple of times when i was dancing in the princes/wonderful world parade the sleeping beauty float broke down due to engine problems!! this was always at the "winnie" stage! Once i was dancing with the cinderella unit and we had to dance on the spot for about 10 minutes before sleeping beauty was rescued by the pick-up truck!! was a funny parade!!!
Hello, you can see a brand new video of the once upon a dream parade ( and many photos )at:
http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2007/ ... o-and.html (http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2007/04/dlp-once-upon-dream-parade-photo-and.html)
Nice site and good videos etc you have there
Yesterday a saw a very nice broadcast about the Making of the parade on Pro7 ("Disney Filmparade")
It was the first part of two beginning last year in may with the scetches and reporting also about a big contest of 5 development teams which have to design a new parade for the 15th.
Next time they will show the castings and building of the floats.
Have somebody the video of it? I can not find it on pro7.de
Riebi, do you know when the second part will be shown on PRO7? :?: :ears:
I think sunday but I must look again
The next time they'll show Disney Filmparade will be on Thursday, 17th I think ;)! I saw this on the internet and hope that'll be the second part of the parade special :)!
Yes it must be the 17th. Pro7 is getting so incalculable with the "Disney Filmparade" broadcastings.
Wait a minute, I didn't know Pro7 airs Disney Filmparade... We receive Pro7 since we have digital TV.
Yeah, that's a great show, so if you have the chance to view it - then view it :)
But yes, unfortunately they are really incalculable! I wanted to record the show last sunday and they began 5 minutes earlier and so I missed an important part about the anniversary :(

I don't know, sorry :( It's a German channel, Pro7...
[quote="Owain]Is that channel on SKY ?[/quote]
no i dont think so i believe it is only aired in germany and the netherlands and belgim but not the uk (i think....)
God I love this parade.
Does anyone know if there's a video anywhere of parade stop on the princess floats?
Just to let you know on the weekend of the 26th and 27th May in a first for Disneyland Park, the Disney's Once Upon A Dream Parade will be performed twice.
First as usual at 16.00 then again later at 19.30.
This is just a one-off I believe.
Whats the reason for showing twice?
They do that also in california! Cool!
Interesting idea, is something special occuring this weekend? Or is it simply a way to keep the epc cm's busy  .
I'm not sure why its happening to be honest.
People are guessing it might be a trial for the summer, or perhaps its just expected to be a really busy weekend, as Merlin is also starting again on that day.
Been looking around the main offical site and it doesn't have the schedule for that day yet, but the "hidden" agenda mentions it....
http://www.disneylandparis.com/fr/parc_ ... arades.htm (http://www.disneylandparis.com/fr/parc_disneyland/parades_et_spectacles/agenda_des_parades.htm)
By the way: On that weekend I have my next trip and I wanted to ask if there is also a later version of Candleabration?
Another interesting fact is: On the german website of DLRP is written: on 26th and 27th May: 10,00 - 22,00, but on any other website 20,00 is the closing time.
I know that this does not fit exactly, but please answer :D
Please use the trip planning board for these questions.
Poppy the Monkey, thanks for the news! :D
Just for information : the 26th and 27th of may, there will be two parades !!!
one the day and one the night :D :D :D

why not do fantillusion in the evening instead?? :?:
Quote from: "anthony2k6"why not do fantillusion in the evening instead?? :?:
It is nowhere near dark enough in May at the time the second ouadp performance is. Fantillusion only shows in the summer during July and August since it's at 10:30pm, when it's just dark enough anyway.
This is what I think about the floats:
Dreams of Imgation: A very lovely start with a sun shaped balloon and a realistic winking moon and also my favourite part on the float.... BUBBLES!!!!! 10/10
Dreams of Laughter and Fun: A very realistic Alice trapped inside the dolls house when she nods, winks and opens her mouth, The Pinocchio unit is a waste of space, Only a blue house and a clock tower and some stairs this part isn't very good to me but you just got to see the show stop of it! 7/10
Dreams of Friendship: Very catchy music while Woody, Jessie and Buzz dance on the float and the Green Army Man go in front of the float and dance aswell but this unit had bright colours. The Pooh unit is yet again a waste of space which only had a tree and a table. 9/10
Dreams of Fanasty: I like the ship part the most on this float yet again very catchy music I can't get the tunes out of my head! Mary Poppins unit is yet again a waste of space which only had a carousel and the Penguin waiters following the float. 8/10
Dreams of Power: One of the greatest floats in the parade! 3 statues, 2 people and 2 puppets and following the float is Flotsam and Joltson and yet again very catchy music and when Ursula and Scar talk it just look so real! 10/10
Dreams of Adventure: My favourite float in the parade! Very catchy music but the float is just too cartoony and the people with the drums ruin the float because this float was meant for Jungle animals not People. 10/10
Dreams of Romance: Such a great ending to a wonderful and lovely parade, even though these two floats are popalur for the girls when they see they're favourite princess on these two floats. 9/10
Hey, I don't know if this'll interest any of you. But, last night, I heard the Once Upon A Dream parade music performed live by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the composer Steve Sidwell. As you can imagine, it was pretty cool :-)
Hmm, I've just been deliberating, and was wondering what the cost might be to put on something as big as the OUADP? I mean the floats themselves must be expensive, and then there are the wages of the performers, drivers etc. Has anyone heard any rough figures? Or know an definite figures?!

You
are very very lucky Alan! :o
Ah, at last, someone responds to my post. This was at the Royal Albert Hall in London. They were supposed to be doing only movie themes, but Steve Sidwell came out totally by surprise to conduct the parade music. Yes, I guess I was lucky to hear that :-) And they also played the "Captain Jack" theme from Pirates of the Carribean, oh, and E.T., Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Superman, etc.
Does anyone have the URL for the full video of this parade filmed by dlrpmagic?
It was filmed on 30th March and I lost the URL for it.
TowMater, you can find a full listing of videos here:

 http://www.patmagic.net/media.htm (http://www.patmagic.net/media.htm)
Thanks Baloo, I'm going to save the Patmagic website to my favourites so I won't forget the URL.
Me too, that's a great video by patmagic.
I was just wondering, my favourite part of this parade is the show stops, with the just like we dreamed it song. I've only seen a few videos of this parade and i've only come across two sections when this song is played, that was of the lionking float and the pooh float.
Was just wondering has anyone else got links to videos showing different parts of the parade do the dance to this song. I've seen a small clip of the alice in wonderland float and characters doing a fantastic dance, but it was only of half the song.
Also, do they only do the show stop once in the whole parade? Because I think to be honest that's the only exciting bit as there is no upbeat tunes besides the indevidual float songs.

-Nath
Tricky question, I've got a awnser.....
Don't worry when I'll go back there in Xmas 2008 I will film it for you. :D
I think you can see the Imagination and Fantasy show stops in this video:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1ntbn ... parade-pre (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1ntbn_disney-once-upon-a-dream-parade-pre)
(The performers with flags for Peter Pan section are really amazing)
Hope that helps a little.
Thanks very much Baloo ^_^
Nath, Here is a video of the Power show stop:

Thanks TowMater, it's good to see some more stops, I wish they'd stop more than once though so people got to see different acts. I suppose it gives you another reason to see the parade again though. I have to say, there's never really enough dancing going on for my liking. Poor poi guys and jugglers who drop their things, I know it's horrible being in a spot light with things you can't control, atleast they stay calm and get on with things.
I still say the alice float is the best with dancing and entertainment, they really bring out the song and play up to it, although i've only seen half of that, I still say it's the most active and exciting.
Thanks again
-Nath :)
Well done to Steve Sidwell - its always nice to see a hardworking Jazzer get some well deserved success!!
Nice!!
I don't like the Laughter & Fun float, The Alice part is all crowded and the Pinocchio part only got a clock tower and some stairs following the float but it would be better if they added "Gepetto", "Honest John" and "Gidoen".
Btw... At my school today in music, the music teacher just got back from DLRP and he put the "Just Like We Dreamed It" song then he got some africian drums and we started to play to the song, It was kind of the Adventure show stop when we did that.

Hey you posted my movie aswell :P It's the one with DISNEY'S ONCE UPON A DREAM PARADE in the beginning . I like the video's but ive seen them almost all. But thanks for posting !
Thanks Bowie,
Btw might the floats change round in Xmas 2008?
Thanks again Towmater, you've been a great help!
I still say the alice float show stop is the best, the dance is exciting, featuring a lot of characters and performers, quite a complex dance for everyone in suits bar the mad hatter too, and it's also one the cutest as they really play up to the song, especialyl shown in this link:
//http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8WWuwNwE2c
I still feel slightly un impressed with this parade, as for me it seems very messy and the dances arn't that impressive compared to past things, there's no proper set out routine and the sadly I feel there arn't enough entertainers, but then again, I have not seen it in person. I am told it's a very different experience, so lets hope so.
Hi everyone, I will be visiting DLP on the 11th of July and am wondering if anyone knows where is the best place to wacth the parade? are the parade stops similar to the stops of fantillusion parade?? I know we can only see all three stops of fantillution parade at the central plaza but what about this new parade??
We always stay at the Main STreet USA, near the Railroad Station (the Place in the Middle), from there you can watch along Main Street USA and see the parade comes closer and closer.
From there you can make very good photos. And the Parade-Stops are not so spectacular as the Stops from Fantillusion.

It's best to see this parade at Casey's Corner or near Sleeping Beauty Castle where you get 2 show stops, The Pooh stage is a good view to see the parade but it might get too crowded (Only 1 show stop) or down Main Street USA is also a good place where you get a great view of the castle (1 Show stop) Or where the parade route ends, You'll see the Imgation show stop and see the gates closing.
You can see show stops over YouTube and Dailymation.
I sat a little to the left of the Castle (a little) and It was amazing I saw the Toy Story then if I streatched a little I could see a bit Of Winnie The Pooh then If i turned my head I could see Pinocchio !

I saw The Princess stop too !

Aren't I just
:) This Parade was just like I dreamed it and more. The main thing I couldn't get over was the scents that accompanied the floats. :D They were just so good! And the floats themselves were beautiful. And the performers that went with the floats were brilliant too. :P Everything was perfect!
*Will type up an in-depth review in her Trip Report*
:o We got to see the Alice stop, the Jungle Book stop and the Princess stop! We actually saw the Princess stop twice because we wanted a better view the 2nd time.
Masamune, It sounds like you had great fun while watching the parade, 3 show stops in 1 day is good aswell.

scents???? what do you mean, i havent heard of that!
Each float has their own scent which represents that style. (eg. Dreams of Adventure - Cirtis Fruits ect)
oh god thats amazing, i must go tell my gran and mum!
From the first post on page one...........
QuoteThe parade will feature 8 floats, each using more than one character/film as its theme. The parade will feature parade "show stops" with confetti effects, scents for each float and puppets. Performers due to appear include: Characters, dancers, bungee acrobats, jugglers, flag artists, puppeteers, stilt walkers.
Just out of interest, what are the scents for each float, it had always been on my mind, I just never thought to ask, and it is certainly a brilliant concept - one that i have never heard of in a disney parade.
Quote from: "DisneyBud"Just out of interest, what are the scents for each float, it had always been on my mind, I just never thought to ask, and it is certainly a brilliant concept - one that i have never heard of in a disney parade.
I'll help you:
Dreams of Imagmation - Candy
Dreams of Laughter and Fun - Wood
Dreams of Friendship - (Not sure)
Dreams of Fanasty - (Not sure)
Dreams of Power - Fire and Smoke
Dreams of Adventure - Critic Fruit
Dreams of Romance (Part 1 & 2) - (Not sure)
:D Yup, and the scents were really strong too!
:P The Romance floats smelt flowery to me, and the Friendship float smelt fruity to me. :o And the Imagination float smelt like bubbles to me. Some scents were stronger than others. The smell of smoke coming from the Power float is the strongest.
Yes that is it! The Romance float hase the scents of roses and other flowers. And the dream of laugther and fun the scents of wood, ingle.
I´ve watched a report about it on tv :D There was also the guy who has mixed it. And older man with a big nose :D
Wow! I didn't know the floats had scents! :D That's just made me get even more excited! :D
I had no idea they had scents either! Wow, this is the awsome detail Disney goes to. So Wonderful!
Just a quick question though; I seem to remember watching videos of the Parade, and all the characters talking / singing in French. Is this still happening? Or does the language alternate? Thanks if anyone can answer 8)
:o Some characters spoke English and some spoke French. For example, Peter Pan was speaking English to Wendy, and Wendy responded in Franch. :) The voices are on soundtracks you see, that accompany the floats.
I think it's nice that they vary which characters speak in what languages. :P I've always loved the fact that in the Animagique show, Donald speaks English and Mickey speaks French. :D I'd much rather understand what Donald's saying than Mickey, as I'm a bigger fan of Donald.
I like this aspect too. The change of french and english is very well and help to understand for all this how know nothing about french (the language)
Pumbaa, King Louie, Mafiecent, Buzz, Minnie & Donald also spoke in French.
What about Goofy ?
Wasn't he speaking french ?
Quote from: "15MagicalYears"What about Goofy ?
Wasn't he speaking french ?
Oops, Forgot also there's these characters that speak in French:
Goofy (Reminded me by 15MagicalYears)
Pinocchio
Woody
Ariel
Belle
Snow White
English:
Mickey
Mad Hatter
Pooh
Peter Pan
Mary Poppins
Bert
Scar
Ursula
Baloo
English and French:
Simba
Timon
Minnie
Green Army Man
Thanks for the list !
My friend was trying to say that Goofy was speaking Russian :?
But I didn't think so, did he ?
Anyone didn't red this one a few weeks ago, I'll just say it again.
At my school a few weeks ago in music, the music teacher just got back from DLRP and he put the "Just Like We Dreamed It" song then he got some africian drums and we started to play to the song, It was kind of the Adventure show stop when we did that.
I am so excited. I can't wait to see the new parade! That is what I am most looking forward to! 8 Weeks 5 days. Roll on September 9th!
Well, I'm sulking - had no idea the parade would be shifted back so late and I'll "only" be able to see it twice - so there goes my plan to take photos from both sides and video it :P
awww what a Bummer!
Ah well, must make sure I video from the other side. At least I'll still get to see everything.
if its a digital camcorder you can take stills from the video you have filmed with a programe on the pc. then you will beable to pick exactly what photos you want. :D
Yep - will be doing that! Although have to confess I've always been disappointed with the quality of stills I get that way.
Anyway, I was just being greedy :P . I'll still take so many photos you won't believe.
Oh I'm so excited to see that parade. It will truely be the best parade ever. this I know yet. But just a question, where will we need to stand to see the Princess float stop ?
:o The place where we viewed the Princess stop was right on the corner of where the Parade begins. If you stand there, you get to see Cinderella and Charming dance, as well as Aurora and Philip. If you stand further down, you get to see Snow White and her Prince, and Jasmine and Aladdin dance. :P
Talking about showstops
Can anyone tell me where the Mickey float stops ?
I badly want to see that stop,
For the 1st show stop, The float stops next to Casey's Corner & for the 2nd show stop is around the corner where the parade ends.
good to know! So I can make my position for the pooh float! I must take some pics for my sister in law!
Quote from: "TowMater"around the corner where the parade ends.
And to be more precise, it stops in front of the Ribbons and Bows Hat Shop :D
If you want to watch that stop, the best location to watch it is in front of Town Square Photography near the Discovery Arcade!
I have a video shot from that location here:
http://www.dailymotion.com/photosmagiqu ... eam-parade (http://www.dailymotion.com/photosmagiques/video/x2fob7_disneys-once-upon-a-dream-parade)
thanks for posting that video, its the first time i have watched a video of the parade all the way through without interuption from something or other. its so beautiful!
could anyone tell me where the best place is to see the toy story and the peter pan float stop's?
i want to watch the princess one too but i know where to go for that one.

Nath, I know because I've seen almost ALL float show stops and know where they stop, The 2nd show stop for the Fanasty, Power & Adventure are far away from other floats.
1st show stop:
Ingmation: Next to Casey's Corner
Laughter & Fun: Before turning down Main Street
Friendship: In front of Sleeping Beauty Castle
Fanasty: Exits the Pooh stage on a corner leading to Central Plaza
Power: Pooh stage
Adventure: Where those 2 towers before floats enter the Pooh stage
Romance: On a corner where the parade begins
2nd show stop:
Ingmation: By the Discovery Arcade
Laughter & Fun: In front of the Main Street Railway Station
Friendship: Near City Hall
Fanasty: On a corner before entering Town Square
Power: (You need your map for this) by M6 down Main Street
Adventure: Casey's Corner
Romance: Central Plaza
Thank you Tow Mater for posting the positions of the parade floats. I'm so excited and I know that I need to see the Parade for 2 times at different places.
thanks mater!!
i will write them down before i go and put marks on my parkmap when i get there!!
Thanks mater, that helps even more with the trip planning :D

I think the Pinocchio show stop is a little plain and boring :( :x
I still think Gepetto sould be with him!
Even better Gepetto, Honest John and Gideon :D
I totally agree with you, How about a Gepetto on stilts like the stilt walkers with puppets?
Oh yeah 8)
Because he is a puppeteer aswell! :D
But I don't think that would go down to well with the performer!
Maybe he could just have the puppets like the stilt walkers have on rainy days? :D
Indeed the Pinocchio stop is boring. But I love the Peter Pan sequence. The float looks amazing and the pirates and Hook are very entertaining.
I was just wondering, since I don't know what the Fanasty scent smells like can anyone tell me? I bet it is smoke because of the cannons & chimmeys.
No I'm not sure but I know it ain't smoke thats the villains!
Mater (hope you read this ;)): Where did you get all the places of show stops from?! If you know all of them, would it be possible you could mark each point on a park map?! This would be soooo great coz I don't know every exact point you mentioned :(
I thought it would be best to stand at the top of Town Square so that we can look along the Main Street and film & take photos... which stop could we see then?! I'd love to see the stop of the Adventure or Romance float... is this possible there?
@ Nala > Look at this (bottom left side!) :P
//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/guides/15thanniversary/disneysonceuponadreamparade/guide/
From there you see the Peter Pan stop!
Hey soap, thank you, that's great - somehow I missed it looking there
Okay, so like Japper said, I'd see the Peter Pan float then... so I guess it would make more sense to stand on the top of Central Plaza to see the floats 3 and 8 then?!
Is it possible to stand on the inside of the Central Plaza circle, at "12 o'clock" so to say?
thank for all the parade stops mater! can't wait to see them! Leota's little boy is going to be so chuffed when he sees the toy story one! lol
saw this during my visit and its cool (the pirates infront of the peter pan float did his hair in my camera lens :P
Has the FULL soundtrack to the music of this parade been released yet?
The soundtrack has not been released and personally I cannot see them releasing it at all, this is dlrp.
Hmmm, thats odd, I thought Disneyland Resort Paris releases a lot of entertainment music?
Also, someone somewhere mentioned that some things have been cut already due to budget cuts? Is any of that true? just curious
Im sure this has been asked before but will this parade continue to run after march 2008?
Quote from: "tcsnwhite"Hmmm, thats odd, I thought Disneyland Resort Paris releases a lot of entertainment music?

Disneyland Resort Paris releases a lot of entertainment music, yes, but this probably won't be released any time soon. Also never always agree with what you hear on the web  , sure some things are missing each day, but this is usual for a parade that is used 365 days a year. I have seen the parade without the final Princess float before.
Quote from: "Joseph Carter"Im sure this has been asked before but will this parade continue to run after march 2008?
Yes is the answer, it is due to run for a while no doubt, the amount of money that went into this parade really would be an incredible amount to just go and dump the parade after one year.
the parade will go on??!!
that makes my day magically!!!
i love the parade!!
i am so happy about that!!!!!!!!!!!
:mickey2:
So nothing big has been cut? That's all I was interested in knowing. I have seen a lot of videos and a performer here and there is usually out, but everything else was where it should be. I was just hoping they didn't cut too much or at all because they are still in the middle of the anniversary, and the parade is spectacular as is. I hope they don't cut anything.

Sometimes they cut Jessie, The Penguins, The giraffe, Pinocchio & Piglet.
I heard the Laughter float was cut out for a few days.
I think it is a shame they already start now to cut sometimes things from the parade! It is with full cast not really long and alive with only the few actors between the floats and when they start cutting the penguins or pinnochio it will be even more boring. People who already know the old parade will feel a little bit bad ;)
Don't get me wrong: I love the parade and the floats, but it is really not long :D

I love it, It often takes 20 minutes for me because I always stay somewhere in central Plaza where you get 2 show stops which (Of course) takes 20 minutes.

Nothing's been cut! And nothing is planned to be cut for the time being. If there is not enough cast available on the day, a charcter or 2 will not be there. But nothing is being cut on a permanant basis.

Back On topic!
Has the music changed for the halloween season at all :?: :?:
Because you all know I love the music :!:
No music changes, but the cuts have started!
No stilt walkers most of the time - instead Geppetto and Gideon on foot!
No Flotsum and Jetsum
Old news (since June) but no more cookies handed out (so now a parade inbracing just 4 sences)
And cut numbers elsewhere, because of the halloween show and pre-parade, (eg: theres been no jugglers or flower girls most of this week)
Quote from: "Poppy The Monkey"No stilt walkers most of the time - instead Geppetto and Gideon on foot!

It's a shame that they've had to remove these things, both of them were great parts of the parade :(
That's very sad to hear, I love the fire jugglers.
When i saw this parade, i was amazed by the beauty of it. Did not believe what happened to me, so magical
Flower girls and Fire jugglers were present almost every time when I saw the parade this week.
Only the stilt walkers were missing, instead replaced by Gepetto and Gideon. I can live with that. More characters never hurt.
i think its bad that they are already cutting the parade
Quote from: "Its Just Like I DreamedIt"i think its bad that they are already cutting the parade

Just to give you all some new insider gossip...it has been proposed that THREE new dance units will be added to the parade!! don't know where they'll go exactly but one of them is alleged to be a can-can unit following the Pinocchio section.
I loved this parade :D
Just got back from Disney and saw the Once upon a.... Parade for the first time!! It's fab! However, i was reading the brochure last night and it says the floats are 'scented'... we didn't notice that. Anyone else? :?
I remember the smell of the villain-float, it was like burned wood or so ;)!
But we stood a bit away from the street so unfortunately we didn't smell the other scents :(!
aha, that explains it then... we were set back from the road too. well, we'll have to go again now!!!
Just a little but important news. 2 new dance sections will be added to the Once Upon A Dream Parade next Saturday (23rd Feb). They will be Octopus (up to 6 dancers behind the Villains float). And Can-Can dancers with Russian partners (with the pinocchio unit).
They hope to create a new dance section for every "dream" within a year!
Are the flame jugglers completely out now?
i hope not i enjoyed them. they look very effective. matthew keeps trying to immitate them.
I've seen the parade quite a few times now. I think it's brilliant. Love the idea of the two scenes on one float and the music to go with it. :D
Quote from: "raptor1982"Are the flame jugglers completely out now?
No, they are part of the parade at the moment when jugglers are available which is rare , but a whole new group is in training now so they can be included everyday.
Good, tnx for confirming. I love the jugglers! Their costumes are really fabulous.
I guess the Octopus costumes will be the ones from the Villains Parade?
Quote from: "raptor1982"I guess the Octopus costumes will be the ones from the Villains Parade?
Yea, and the dancing is so cool - its going to bring so much more to this section!
Really, really looking forward to seeing these new dance units. It's great to see they're adding something new to the parade in its second year rather than cutting it down. There's a first time for everything. :)
What with DCP finishing soon, is there a chance we could see two performances of OUADP per day in the Summer?

cool costumes, must say! :D But is it an exchange or an add?
It's fantastic to see that they are still interested in improving the parade, well done =D>
I love the fact that they are improving the parade all the time. Only hope that when it comes to the Christmas season they decorate the floats like they used to. That was the only thing that spoiled the new parade for me last November.

I didn't think I'd see the day. That's great. They have a hit on their hands and they're not cutting corners.
i love the parade !

just so people know the jugglers are still there while i was there i saw the parade twice, once they were in the next time they wernt
It's nice to see more dancers but why remove the fire jugglers & Flotson and Jetson?
Well it would be more better if the Power unit had about 3 fire jugglers, 3 octopus' and Flotson and Jetson.
There were 2 extra floats in it at christmas because they had santa and his reindeer, and the toy soldiers in it!
ITS THE BEST! I LOVE IT!

Oh well... I didn't read all of this thread!
I know, It's not your fault.

A new cast of Jugglers have just been rehearsed so you will be seeing at least 5 in each parade. There are nearly always 6 Octopus girls but sadly Flotsam and Jetsam will not be returning anytime soon (which SUCKS!). Due to the way in which French law governs how Disney pays its staff, one needs to be on a puppeteering coefficient to operate the eels in the parade, however there are simply not enough puppeteers at the moment. The same people who do Animagique are used to control Usula, Scar, Pumba and Simba in the parade, as well as Pumba, Simba, Timon and Zazu in Legend of the Lion King. I personally dont see why regular parade performers cant be trained to use the eels, its really not that hard. The performers on the Sky Runners (Tigger/Vulture) are on a normal parade coefficient, but they are paid extra for every parade they do, so why cant this be the same for the people who operate the eels? France makes no sense i tell you!!
Anyone noticed that for the past 3 days, the Dreams of Fun and Laughter float has not been a part of the parade?....its motor blew up, so its being replaced...have no idea when it will be fixed, fingers crossed as soon as...but this is France after all so be prepared to wait, ha!

You'd better say Disney. It's not better in the other resort you know.
Talking about The Fun and Laughter float, I have always wanted Foul Fellow and Gideon to join Pinnochio, Geppetto and the stilt walkers. :)
It's always soo aqwuard as there never seems to be set choriography. :(
It may be a bit crammed though

The stilt walkers were cut late last year. Geppetto and Gideon replaced them to fill the gap with no choroegoraphy, they were taken out in Febuary and now there is a new Can-Can and Russian dance unit with Pinnochio. Though I kinda think its a bit raunchy for Disney, dont think the American managers are overly impressed by it. But I agree that Geppetto, Foulfellow and Gideon should be a part of the unit.
I saw it on Friday and the Fun and laughter float was back. They also had the new dancers out. I thought the dancers seemed a tad random but they were still good and they added to the parade. It was also great to see the float back after reading your notice before I went, nice suprise.
Hey!
I went to see the Disneyland parade on Saturday 26th August 2007.
I was there at the Peter Pan stop and I made two videos when I got home and put them on youtube. Here they are!

when the 15th birthday celebrations end will the dream parade still be on every day seven days aweek as it is now, say at halloween or christmas time or will it go back to how it used to be with the parades?

I am 99.9% sure that the this parade will continue to run 7 days a week after the 15th anniversary celebrations :)
i hope not, i'm going next halloween (2009) so i was looking forward to watching the main halloween parade, unless they put both parades on, as at xmas last year there was just abit of a add on to DOUDP and yes the parade was great it just didnt have the magic for christmas

Last Halloween they had a mini Halloween Pre-parade before the OUADP, and at Christmas they have two additional floats at the end of the parade (The Toy Soldiers, and Father Christmas). I don't know if they'll do it again this year, but I think they will :)
Does anyone know what time the parade starts during high season (in July)?

Maybe 5pm (17h00), perhaps later. The times won't be published till the start of the season on 5th July. This is also more of a Trip Planning (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13) question.

Last year it was about 7pm, (19h00), which they have been at during the past few summer seasons anyway, can't see it really moving much. It is this late no doubt so they can use the same cast for fantillusion.

i was there for christmas, but dont get me wrong i like the parade its just a shame that we lose all the other proper parades and just have the DOUDP all the time taking over and then a couple of other floats at the end :(
I think this parade will be here for another couplle of years, becouse they have put allot of work in it.
I like the parade, there's so much more going on wiht each float you see something new every time you watch it. However I would like to see them produce a bit more of a seasonal theme when appropriate, last years 2 extra floats at Christmas really didn't compare with previous Christmas parades.
thank you rock, thats exactly how i felt about the parade, its all lovely and very well done but during christmas its not very seasonly :(
There is a new dance section at Dreams of Laughter and Fun .

I've just come round to cataloguing my photos from my trip last September and I really need to know! :)

i was just wondering if anyone could tell me where to go for each of the parade stops? i know it has been put before but it was not very clear to me.
if anyone is able to give me specific places (i.e, outside walts, outside caceys, ect) then i would love you FOREVER!
Sorry, i know its a lot to ask but I am hoping to get a map and mark each on with a different coloured sticker and take it for reference so i would be happy to scan it in once i do it so people can print out a copy for themselves too so hopefuly it will help a lot of ppl if i can get it done.

:o  Whoa Jeese, that's bad! Well actually, I suppose they were pretty lucky in a way, in that it happened to the final float at the very end of the parade route, it could have been one of the first few floats, half way through the route. But imagine walking into the park on the first day of your trip, to see that
 Ooops! I bet some got into trouble over that!
Wow! I think that was an interesting After-Parade-Meeting backstage. Good that it´s just a demage at the float and nobody gets injured. Such things could happen cause they are humans

Yes, and the pavement!! I suppose with the size of them and that tight corner it's easily done though. That would be something I'd end up doing!

You care about the curb?? Im pretty sure the float came off worse! But if you must know, the curb is back to its good old self.
(Shudders) Thank god the float is back, Just in time I'm going there next month.
They weren't using the last Princesses float at all from Monday to Wednesday this week - the princesses and their princes walked the parade route every day. IMHO, this actually improves the parade, as there is so much more audience interaction with the princesses and princes. I got some lovely pictures, especially of Belle and her Prince dancing.

Most likely, plus the float was never fully finished and secured when DOUD started so it wasnt going to be long before the bridge needed fixing properly. The float is currently in 2 halves backstage, very depressing to see :(

Was said a few pages ago, you probably missed it.
There was something to do with the bridge which was rushed when getting built so the parade would debut on time, it had to be fixed at some point so it was done.
Yaaay, good to see it back :)!
But why's the OUAD Parade in the dark?! Is that usual during Christmas Season? I don't know how to take good parade pics when it's so dark :(!
Its in the dark because its winter and it gets darker alot sooner now :P
We were there over Hallowe'en and noticed the princesses were walking rather than a float, without being aware of the reason why. But I thought it was better that they were walking about - 2 of them came up to my 5 year-old daughter, one said "Hello Princess" to her, and the other said "How beautiful you are". This made my daughter's holiday! (We'd paid some extortionate amount for her to have the "Disney Princess Makeover" that day.)
Haha, really Nicholas?! :P ;)
I thought the parade would run around 1 pm or so during winter season ;)!

The Princess float was back in action on the 8th November.
They was walking on the 7th and poof the next day they was on the float.
Glad to see it back, it felt weird seeing them walk the whole route.
I saw this twice on my holiday to DLRP in the mid-week, I saw it twice and everytime there was some stuff added and removed.
1st parade:
The Russian dancers
Tigger was not on bounce stits
Less pirates
Fire Jugglers
No octopus dancers and Flotsan & Joltson
Adventure ostrishes was removed with pink dancers as birds
Jumping vultures was removed
2nd parade:
The Russian dancers was removed
Tigger was missing
Less pirates
Octopus dancers behind Ursula
Pink birds & ostrishes was removed
Jumping vultures has returned but with bird masks
Less flower dancers from the Romance floats
Hi All,
DLRPMagic's guide to OUAPD says:
QuoteA world-first is the addition of real scents for each float, taking you into the worlds as they pass you by - from candy for the first float to burning embers for the Villains and tropical fruits for The Lion King.
Now I can't say that I picked up on this when we saw the parade November 2007. As we will visit again soon, can anyone tell me if this 'world-first' still functions please?.
Thanks
Iain

DUHHH!! - Everybody knows they live at the North Pole :D
Sadly 2 of the reindeer died earlier this year, and no more were brought in by DLRP, so Santa will be reindeer-less throughout the whole season! :(

That is so sad. RIP raindeers.
Quote from: "TowMater"I saw this twice on my holiday to DLRP in the mid-week, I saw it twice and everytime there was some stuff added and removed.
Due to various reasons. Normally lack of cast. Dance Captain decisions, weather, costuming, etc. Tigger and Vultures are normally cut/on foot in bad weather/ice (ie. most of this season). The pink birds are the new Ostrich costumes, they came in back in July with the new Vulture costumes.
Has anybody know what happened to the Alice float recently?
I looked on several videos of the parade earlier this month and there was no Alice float and there was a whole flock of characters behind the Mickey float inculding Jafar, Alice Characters, Pinocchio, Lilo & Stitch, Robin Hood, Cinderella & Lewis Robinson etc.
Is this a new thing?
The Alice float is in rehab for 3 weeks - it should be back next Saturday. It is the second float to go into rehab - first was the Romance 2 float, and next will be Imagination, so Mickey and co will be walking the parade while the 15th sign is removed and the float is redecorated for Mickey's Magical Party!!
hope "redecorated" doesn´t mean give it some horrible colors all over
3 weeks is a long long time for the float to be in rehab. All those added painting effects on the floats appeared overnight ahead of the 'premiere' a couple of years back. I'm kind of scared about which illuminous shades they'll paint 'Imagination' :S
They may just add streamers and more party-ish things. Maybe balloons from the top of the Hot Air balloon and the moon?
Anyone know if they will be getting rid of Just Like we Dreamed It?
It fits the parade but they may want to re-enforce the party atmosphere.

OMG  That's not a float! That's a bad joke. That thing is embarrassing!
That float's hilarious :P
I'm sure the show mode theme will be changed to that party time track. Dreaming has little to do with a magical party I guess
Thats the WDW parade isn't it? If it is there are a lot more issues with their parade than just a silly coloured opening float!
Its only for a year and the rest of the parade is in such a state it doesn't look out of place. At least they have got rid of their "Dreams on Parade" song.
that float is certainly lively!
The opening float, dreams of imagination, is now (as of past monday) in Refurb and Alice's float has returned, completely refurbed. No changes made of course, the effects seem to have been altered though, more smoke effects and scent effects!
Mickey and Minnie now make their entrance in the parade sitting in a Main Street Car, surrounded by some extra characters.
I guess over the next year more floats will be going down during the off-season?
Its worth them going missing for a few weeks just to keep the parade in top condition, its going to be around for many years to come so at least keep it in good condition.
Its such a beautiful parade and hopefully it stays looking as great as it does.

But the parade is definately staying then??? They're not replacing it after the 15 years celebrations have ended???
YAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
of course not, the Once Upon A Dream parade will be here for at least the next 5-7 years!!!
oh lol no no, absolutely not Miss Tinkerbell! that will not happen, you can be sure 'bout that!
Just to let you know about a new Media Magic Interview with one of the parade's creators now translated into English on DLRP Today, with some especially interesting details about the European roots of inspiration behind its floats:

It's a really good interview. Thank you Anthony. I've always loved OUADP. The music and the atmosphere is just great.

Fantastic find, thanks for posting it. Wow, what an interesting video
That was a great find! Very intresting video, I love seeing videos of the magic coming together, bit by bit :P
It is funny how most of the Disney parades are there for around 6 years but Disneylands only made through 4, 2005-2008. Then they'll get a new one for 2010.
None the less, although I haven't actually seen the parade in real life, I really like the layout of it. It is much similar to Disneyland's Parade of Dreams, which is a favorite of mine, and the whole float theme with the books, and all sorts. The only thing I don't like, which I don't like in any parade, is the float dedicated to villains. Walt Disney World's parade has one and I just don't like the actual concept of that. It doesn't seem right.
Disneyland, CA gets more entertainment improvements as they mainly aim at locals so need new entertainments to keep them coming back.
Whereas, Walt Disney World is tourists so they very rarely get new entertainment.
Great video. Interresting to see how it all came together. great find
apparantly the parade has been travelling from near the main street photography(where it would normally finish) up main street into fantasyland
anyone know why this could be?
Edit: I mean does anyone know why the parade has a different direction?
(I know it happened yesterday)
It did the same thing when we were there for new year, not sure why though :-k
I did hear the other day that the WDW has been trialing running it from Main Street to Frontierland. (It was Frontierland to Main Street). They are trailing a different direction to try and have a better flow of traffic.
The same could be happening in Paris.

I thought of that reason actually...I don't know if it would help though

WDW's nightime parade - "Spectromagic" runs from Maim Street to Frontierland, but if you nto talking about that, last August I think it was, they were refurbishing the bridge the floats and dancers travel over during the route and so the parade route was altered, from Mainstreet up to Central Plaza around and back down.

does anyone know why the dreams of imaginations float was down during photos magiques latest photo report.

I was just reading this and knowing the travesty they have at the Magic Kingdom, I would just like to state for the record that Disneyland Paris has a really really great parade.
Yes, at least this year's trend for horrible, loud and ugly events is across all their Western resorts. I cannot believe they cut Parade of Dreams of this new event... thank god Once Upon a Dream is still so new.
It's also interesting to note that OUADP was directed by Katy Harris, who also directed the High School Musical shows (great), the Fantasy Festival Stage adaptation of Winnie the Pooh (great) and now -I believe- Playhouse Disney (perfect).
Just a note
Celebrate! A street party is only a summer filler until the seasonal parades kick in (Halloween + Christmas) then after Christmas in 2010, Disneyland is getting a new Parade for it's 55th Birthday. So this parade won't be round for to long, it's not too bad if you watch some of the videos, It really fits in with the US parks.
Ooh and just to keep myself right, the new Parade shall be called "Wonder Parade".
:D
is some one inside the flots driving them or is it remotcontrolled :?
Good question, It is both what I heard from before.
I don't know for sure but have always assumed they're driven by someone inside - as I thought that's why each float has a person walking in front of it who at night carries a maglit torch with red wand on it to guide the driver.
Always a person is driving - either hidden or visible; like the pirate on the Peter Pan float, or the Green Army man at the back of the Toy Story float!
The red light is indeed to guide the drivers, incase they loose their way, and to help the driver regulate their speed. All the floats also have up to 6 cameras to help the drivers!
Thanks Poppy! :)
thanks
Thanks Poppy!
I have a question, Is Alice a puppet or a anitromic?
Alice (I'm guessing) is a very large animatronic.
Indeed. If you ever see the parade from Walt's you might get a glimpse inside at the mechanics (which is a shame really).
So by the looks of things I'm the only who preffered the previous parade and music?
Well more the music really, you just cant beat "Dancin' (A Catchy Rhythm)".
Oh and the previous parade had MUCH more dancers etc in between the floats, where this 'new' didn't realy have much at all, and we were left just looking around at other things until the next float turned up!
Sorry to rant, but I love DLP so much, they seem to do everything right, but in my opinion, they've made a big mistake with this new parade.
Quote from: "Martyn"Sorry to rant, but I love DLP so much, they seem to do everything right, but in my opinion, they've made a big mistake with this new parade.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. The old parade was great, but it had been around for such a long time that it almost needed to be replaced
I have to disagree.
The old Parade was old, boring and so repetitive because it had been around so long.
OUADP is a parade for the 2000s, not the 90s.
Its modern, it has a lot of new technology, it has features which no other Disney parade has. The music is fantastic and suits the story of the parade perfectly.
Its the best Disney parade in the world.
Dancin' got old very quickly, especially as it used to repeat on a loop constantly. How boring.
I have to agree, OUADP has got to be one of the best Disney parades ... in the world!
In my opinion....After seeing some of the recent parades in WDW the OUADP is quite obviously a cut above the rest. The Villains float is just stunning! :D/
I can't wait to see it again in 146 days! :D
The soundtrack is far more magical and less cheesy than "Dancing a Catchy Rythym".
have to argee, this is definitely the best disney parade in the world,
the stile of the floats and the music are great.
i think this parade can take one more float, something like dreams of heroes
with hercules/ mulan, and this float will be between the lion king/ jungle book and
mermaid/ aladdin float :P
I agree with you all. The first time i saw the OUADP i got 'goose bumps' beacuse it was christmas and it was freezing :P . But no it was one of the most sensational disney parades i have seen in a long time.
:offtopic: Completly off topic! What do you guys think of 'Tokyo Disneyland's Jubilation'
Beacuse next to OUADP Jubilation is my favourite. It's great!!!
I forgot about Jubilation when I made my post earlier.
Its a really nice parade and is actually ahead of OUADP for me, but that is only due to the huge number of floats they have and the scale it is. Its huge!
If the scale was smaller OUADP would be my favourite.
Isn't everything Tokyo do amazing and on a much bigger scale than anywhere else?
Quote from: "Willow"I forgot about Jubilation when I made my post earlier.

i have to admit, Tokyo have the perfect balance between characters, dancers and disney magic...if only it was like that everywhere! im hoping to take a holiday in TokyoDisneyland next year, fingers crossed!
Jubilation is a beautiful parade, The floats tower above you and the actrobats are stunning!
So too is this parade when I saw it in person I had a tear down my right cheek while sniffing the smells and filming at the same time with a smile on my face, Really magical.
Quote from: "Willow"Isn't everything Tokyo do amazing and on a much bigger scale than anywhere else?
Isn't that because it's not actually owned by Disney? The Oriental Land Company owns and operates that resort, and I guess since they only have one resort to upkeep they can pump more cash into it, providing bigger and better stuff.

The Oriental Land Company have a lot of money and like to invest into the resort.
Their Winnie the Pooh ride cost hundreds of millions of dollars.
The WDW Winnie the Pooh ride cost a few million dollars.
The huge attendances also help. There are never any quiet days.

You just have to look at the new Monsters Inc ride to see this, it's incredible
also, nearly all of the attractions in Tokyo are sponsored, not many in DLRP are. i think DLRP should have more sponsorship, especially in its entertainment department, all they have to do is stick the sponsors name on the entrance sign or on a parade float. but all in all, DOUD is a very good parade. it could do with a few more dancers to fill in the gaps but im sure that in time this will happen. rumors are that this year will see DOUD's first halloween or christmas makeover! fingers crossed!!!
Oohhh wow! :D.
I could always Imagine the Moon/Sun in the first float wearing masks. Freaky ... but cool!
A potential overlay for the seasons sounds good to me.
I'd still like to see the Halloween float be apart of the parade. Instead of it being a Pre-Parade treat it as a proper float.
I love the sound of a season makeover!
Let's get back that villains parade music and do the same thing to it what we did to the Christmas soundtrack.
I'd like the seasonal (carolers') float to have a bigger revamp. It always looks so two-dimensional, flimsy and stands out like a sore thumb against the 'real' floats.
Is there a problem with the Lion King float at the moment? I'm just back, we watched the parade Monday through Wednesday, and the Lion King float wasn't in the parade any of these days. Consequently, the gaps between the floats seemed a lot bigger.

As part of the general parade maintenance, each float is being taken out of the parade one at a time for refurbishment. Laughter & Fun and Imagination have already been refurbished, Adventure will return to the parade in another week or two.
Thanks for that quick reply :D

Good video, Thanks TowMater. Jut goes to prove that bad things can happen even at the happiest place on earth.
What I'm still wondering about this is if there were people stood at the spot it hit. I wouldn't like that beast of a parade float heading toward me with a crowd behind.
[youtube:33qgmk2l]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxEhrSbstV0[/youtube:33qgmk2l]
I love how at 5mins in they try to move it and just make it worse...
oops lol! :P I agree I think I would be terrified to see that thing coming at me!! More of a nightmare than a dream!! Poor Beast hit his head lol. I hav eto say I think it's kind of funny ( I must be in an evil mood). ALthough I hope no body was actually hurt! Appart from the poor pavement and the bottom of the float! :(
How did they get it moved in the end?? :?
Since Christmas Time I visit Disneyland Paris 3 Times. At Christmas Time the Fantillousion Parade always begins at Main Street, not as usually at Small World. Since then the same thing "happen" to the OUADP... does anybody know if the parade will now always started at Main Street? Because it`s boring if you wait over 30 minutes to see a parade stop and than an other float will stopp at your nose
There have been tests at most of the Disney Theme Parks around the world about switching the direction which the parade travels.
Travelling from Main Street to it's a small world is meant to have better guest flow than it's a small world to Main Street.
Thanks Willow for your answer :) I`d love to see the pinocchio stop and also the snow white and aladdin stop. Usually, the parade stops will be in the area to frontierland. But the last two times, when the parade begins at Main Street and I stood by Frontierland, once I saw the Mickey Mouse Stop in Front, the other Time I saw the Alice in Wonderland stop.
I`d ask the members in the park where I should to be for the parade stop I wan`t, but they never knew anything grrr....
Can you tell me, which place I must be, that I can see the Pinocchio and Alladin/SnowWhite Stop?
Will this Christmas be the same as last year with the elves or is something new on it? Will the reindeers be back (the old died... r.i.p.)
Quote from: "Rascal-HN"Can you tell me, which place I must be, that I can see the Pinocchio and Alladin/SnowWhite Stop?
The first Aladdin show stop is just before Pizzeria Bella Notte, the first Pinocchio and 2nd Aladdin stops are at the same point at the popcorn stand next to frontierland. The 2nd Pinocchio show stop is at the right hand side of the Train Station on Town Square.

It wouldn't surprise me either to be fair. I guess for people who don't go often its brand new and completely amazing. like it is a wonderful parade.

That`s what I mean, why they`re so often change the Parade Route?
They sould be made a notice for the park visitors like the one with the opening hours in Fantasyland when the Firework starts. Like "Today the parade will be starting in Main Street (or Fantasyland)" I am the only one who cares about the parade stops? :|
Hey Rascal ;-)
Hmmm - I think the "normal" visitors don´t care about the parade stops, cause they don´t know so much about them.
We - the fans - know: Ok, here they stop, and there they stop.
The normal visitors don´t know much about the flow of the parades...
They just see: Oh the parade is coming.
BTW: I would be lucky too, to know, where it starts :D
parade route starts at fantasyland next to IASW from the passage way to and from discoveryland and goes round to the bottom of main street.
I watch the OUAD parade (often twice a day) every day of every visit we make to DLRP, and I've never seen it start anywhere else other than at the gates near IASW. I wonder why they sometimes change it, as I've seen reported on forums that this happens?
Elaine
Rade but I hate the crowd so here are a couple of tips
1 come early and stand close to a trash cannot a fixed object so no one can push you
2 try too stand on the railroad main street station if you can it's a great spot
3 if you don't want to see the parade make sure you are on the side of the park you want to be in for the next hour because you will be stuck there and the rides will have almost no queue
Why did they use the same parade as they did 2 years ago ? Why couldn't they get a new one ? Was it because of the cost ?
Cost didn't really play a part, they wanted to keep it. It's a popular parade and it wasn't just for the 15th Anniversary. OUADP was made to replace the last parade (The Wonderful World of Disney Parade, is that right?) and look how long is lasted. Having a parade for just two years, especially a parade like OUADP which a lot of time, money, effort and detail was put into would be a waste.

You've got a point , mate x
Does anyone knows, if the elves will return this year on the Christmas Time? And will "new" reindeers be in front of santa claus?
Is the christmas parade the same parade they are using now , but with decorations added ? x
The last 2 years, since the Once upon a dream parade, it is the normal parade, with no christmas decorartion or costumes. At the End of the parade they put the nutcrackers (sorry I used my English not a long time :) and Santa Claus. In the first year they are also victorian dancers, wich I prefer. It is more gentle and glamarous than the elves that fallowed last year and the victorian dancers where out! I hope also they decoarate the floats with a christmas tuch and put the characters on christmas costumes (they had the costumes why they didn`t take it?) Take Halloween. On the first float Mickey and Minnie wear different costumes.
Put the Magic back in the Christmas Parade [-o<

aw wow I love the reindeer! They look magical! Much better than the dressed up people reindeers hehe!! :P
Wow... It DOES look like a boat...
Hmmm.... I like the reindeer but I'm not huge fan of what I can see of the sleigh. It could have been a bit bigger and more... sleigh-like, but I'll wait until I see some better photos of the sleigh part before I make an amateur critic of myself :P
Interestingly the Drum Carriage broke down on saturday and had to be towed half way down Main Street :( They did get it going in the end though :)
I have a vid of the incident which I'll put up shortly. It's the first time I've seen a carriage break down but they dealt with it pretty effectively :)

How many different parades have there been over the 16 years?
I can vividly remember my first trip to DLRP and a "Circus" themed parade with a mini trapeze act and "Goofy the Gargantuan" as a comedy strongman. How long did this parade last?
Quote from: "Magic M"How many different parades have there been over the 16 years?
That's a difficult question to answer really, because up until this one began in 2007, the parades were often just the same floats recycled in various ways. There were also smaller additional cavalcades for new releases though, such as the Toy Story, Lion King, Aladdin, Hunchback parades.
Disney's ImagiNations Parade was perhaps the only full new daytime parade, in 2000, but had a short life because guests (apparently) didn't like the lack of characters and the huge floats were a bit difficult to work with.

Disney's Toon Circus, only from April to September 2001. I don't think it was very popular...

So I have close friends who work at DLP and they mentioned tonight that they "had fun in their first pre-parade tonight"... !
I didn't find out what they meant at this stage but am waiting a response to a message as they were in a hurry.
Does anyone know anything about this?!
When I know more I shall update!!
Dan :)
Ok, so apparently the Peter Pan / Mary Poppins float is out of action, so they have added them as a pre-parade!
So they've picked out one float and put this in front of the parade or something? :?
Merged this topic with the Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade topic.
The Mary Poppins is float is probably in refurbishment.
yea the Peter Pan/Mary Poppins float is in refurbishment until 7th Feburary! Until then Peter, Wendy, Hook, Smee, the pirates, Mary, Burt and some penguins go out before the parade on the "Just Like We Dreamed it" 5 min call.
The pre show will probably look a little like this...

With Princess Tiana and co now joining the parade, it's a shame Giselle never got a look in. Wouldn't this festival be the time to introduce her finally? I know they want the focus on The Princess and the Frog, but would be an obvious way of plussing the finale to the parade...

Right, really, what about Giselle?!
I've heard that Disney had originally planned to make Giselle an official Disney Princess, but decided against it when they realised that because the character is based upon Amy Adams, they would always have to pay to use her likeness. That would have included all merchandise, as well as park characters.
They should've thought of that when making the movie! In any case, I'm sure Disney could still make massive profits on here. Like everything else :S

But this still hasn't stopped them. Giselle has been found several times in the US parks (although not extensively). YouTube it or punch it into Flickr. She had a fantastic costume, and with the wig and tiara, she looked exactly like Amy Adams.
Yeah I've seen some pics, but she wasn't in the parks for long, I assume she was only used in the parks around the time of the movie for promotion. It's a shame, as she looked really good as a park character.
can anyonepost a picture of her, please ? :o
i am curious now! :D

Have they stopped doing the show-stops permanently now? Looking at recent videos on youtube they have?
No there are still 2 show-stops per parade. Unless it is too cold/wet/busy etc....
Was it just me or was the the Once Upon a Dream Parade quite short compared to most of the disney parades.
They've mentioned new music for Dreams of Romance and I know it will be in the same format as the rest of the parade (with jingles in-between)... but will the princesses just dance to music from The Princess and the Frog or will this music just 'feature' in part of the loop of all princess tunes? Anyone actually understand my question? lol
The Dreams of Romance float was not in the parade last week, and the princesses were walking instead.
The Beast was already gone and replaced by the Prince (formerly known as Beast  )

Oooooh interesting. Would love to think they're making additions to the float as well as music. Hoping it's not just routine maintenance...
By the way... doesn't that stone floor look bad! This is why I can't bring myself to watch a parade in Fantasyland.
I've heard the music for the float which they'll mix in with the existing soundtrack. It's a new orchestral recording of Ma Belle Evangeline. Don't know if they're going to use other music of the film on top of that.
Yeah the orchestration really fits the existing soundtrack well. Obviously DOUADP was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic. I'm guessing they went back to Budapest however for this one? The overall quality of all the new music for the NGF is outstanding. Happy face :)
The float's been in rehab for a few modifications in time for Princess Tiana. New flowers and greenery on the front of the float
I presume Belle and the non-Beast are being shunted elsewhere then? No more roses on the front?
Yeah I thought that had been expected however. Sure I'd read it somewhere. Just found this pic of the alterations. Is that a cage for them to dance in or just the perspective playing tricks with me?

Tiana makes her parade premiere tomorrow! along with the soft-openings of the All Star Express and Ratatouille in Stars n' Cars.
So much for the all-new music. Seems like it's just a few second clip attatched to the current Dreams of Romance loop. Didn't they mention jazz music anyway?
Here's the showmode:

Yup, they messed the music right up :(

Aahw my niece loves Tiana, if I'd known she'd make her debut already we would've gone one weekend later.

A sparkly pixie dust sound solves all mixing problems! Couldn't Ma Belle Evangeline have had its own section?
Is that Tiana speaking over the top? It's hard to distinguish a southern accent in French...
I think it would have worked out better if they had put Tiana and Naveen on the first romance float in the middle rather than shifting Belle and her prince to one side (i prefer having the prince to the beast, but why doesnt he have a nice shiney new parade costume yet?!). To fit Tianas lines in they could have just cut out some of Belles that way all of the princesses would speak instead of getting rid of poor Cinderella's lines. Also in all the paris pictures iv seen of Tiana her dress is deffinately too short compared to the other parks.
I thought the whole point of these changes was to put Princess Tiana in pride of place and give her a big fanfare into the established world of Disney Princesses. It's her parade debut anywhere in the world as far as I'm aware. Why give her such a modest entrance. I mean, most people wouldn't even notice that music. And given how our parade music system is structured, why didn't they slot it in properly?
Not only did they just mix it with sparkly pixe-dust sounds, it's out of time and much louder than the rest of the music to really make it stand out. Poor show. It's clear that all the time, money and imagination went into Showtime Spectacular and the revamped Stars 'n Cars. At least the modifications to the costume and float were spot on... just we were offered far more originally
Same for me, I like seeing the Beast with Belle(I know I mentiond this before) I think they are stuck somewhere on the float. I`ll have to find out on wich side I have to watch to see them..
I also think Tianas dress is too short.
By the way: do they still have the same showstops? From that clip above I would think so. BY the Bella Notte and in front of the castle, right? (that is for the princess-float)
Only 3 more weeks or so, till we go to DLP!! :D/

Here's my video of Tiana on her float driving by (right before a BIIIIG rain shower fell from the sky).

Agree! Seems that is was raining very.
The lightning and the heavy rain started when Dreams of Romance was passing Main Street Station, but the characters and dancers didn't stop performing. =D>
I just wondered, would we be just as negative about this as TSPL (especially in the beginning) when it replaces the Once Upon an Dream Parade?
[youtube:2nc5z7os]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzNXRUHenE0&feature=fvw[/youtube:2nc5z7os]
Do you mean to say "when" it replaces Once Upon a Dream Parade?
If something like "Celebrate - A Street Party" replaced our parade of course people would be annoyed!
The once upon a dream parade is amaaaazing !! :D Last time we went to the park we made sure we were there everyday at the same place for the parade :D
We stood opposite bella notte just before the bridge.. it was a fantastic view and the Dreams of Romance float stopped next to us so the Princess stop show was right infront :D loved it ! Only realised on the last day that we should have stood abit further down another day to watch a different show stop but we didnt think of that at the time !
wheres your favourite place to stand and show stop? :)
anyone :D lolxx
if that replaced the ouad parade i would cry. honestly its awful, i would rather have the ouad parade for the next twenty years than something of that quality.
I hate that thing they have at DLA at the moment, too much tweenybopper Disney Channel influence for my liking! I don't believe they got rid of the quite simply amazing Parade of Dreams for that! If the OUADP got replaced with something like that I'd be gutted... Not long till the 20th anniversary now lol... Wonder if DLP are sticking with the OUADP or planning something new??
Omg. if it ever turned to that I would cry. I only watched like the first 30 seconds but hearing a hannah montana song start the parade was enough for me !
Classic disney all the way ! Not this silly tween stuff !
For me personally I prefered having belle and the beast at the front of the float under the little arch thing in the Ouadp, but I can see why they have put Tiana and Naveen there. I haven't seen the Princess and the frog yet so I just feel like they are imposters at the moment :P I am sure I will feel different when I have seen the film.
I am not fussed on the new DLA event, i wouldnt even call it a parade, more like a street party type thing with very random none disney songs like " you cant stop the beat" from Hairspray, Its not as detailed and certainly wouldnt have cost anywhere near the amount of money the ouadp took.

Just a little news from the Once Upon a Dream Parade. It is a little magic spoiler so if you don't want to read then don't.
[spoiler:1s7qx8fq]This Monday gone, there was an incident in Fantasyland which injured one of the parade performers.
The Actress was playing Maleficent on the Dreams of Power float. She is a parade vetrain of 7 years and one of the orignal and dare I say "The Best" Maleficent fell from the float backwards landing on her neck, after her harness and seat structure snapped in half sending her crashing onto the concrete.
After 5 mins she was able to get-up and walk off the parade route and backstage, without her usual dose of "force and power" but still snarling at guests of course, many of whom were still asking for autographs and photos
The parade was rushed through afterwards with the rather sad looking power float looking not so powerful!!

Pictures from Pixiedust.be
The float was out of action yesterday, but it returned today - without Maleficent!! Its not yet clear if or when she will return to the float, but if your going soon and wondering "where is she...??" Well now you know!! ;)[/spoiler:1s7qx8fq]
That is terrible news! I hope she's ok, and will continue to take her place in the parade, I've always felt that Malificent is one of the best parts of the whole parade, it's makes the Dreams of Power float work as well as it does!
I hope she's ok, that must have been pretty painful :(
Ahhh poor thing! Although on another note, it's good to see the evil queen keeping up her appearence...
Wow I hope the actress is ok !!! :( that's such a shame, hopefully it will alert disney though to check all floats so this doesn't happen again !! X
Poor thing! Hope shes OK. How professional and brilliant of her to keep going in character
Oh dear, I hope she's OK! I love Maleficent, she's one of the best characters in the parade! Her and the Evil Queen. Absolutely brilliant

Yes that was her!
She is a truely amazing performer, and the best Maleficent by miles.
I hope she makes a quick recovery and is back on her float soon.
Was there a video when the incident happen in the parade?
Ouch! Hope she is alright and makes a quick recovery, did the other floats behind and in front had to dance at the same spot for so many minutes or did a show stop?
I saw her fall but didn't catch it on video I'm afraid. the floats ahead carried on at least as far as the Castle stage, I couldn't see further than that. The floats behind and all dancers etc carried on their routines on the spot until the whole rear section was able to start again to a round of applause from the crowd. Don't know how this must have looked further up the route with what must have been 5 minutes gap between them, or maybe they all waited until the rear caught up? She seemed to be ok and walked away at least so, all the performers were very professional.
Has Maleficent returned yet? If not, I really hope she's back by July!!
Forward this to 4:20 and it's rather sad without Maleficent :(
[youtube:2zf2ympc]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0p9-KkHEv4&feature=related[/youtube:2zf2ympc]
Althought this was taken in June, has she returned since then? :?
She still wasn't back on the float this past weekend. It looked as if any sign that she had been there has been removed. Maybe she'll be gone for a long time?
Maybe her injury is worse than we expected?
Poor Maleficent!! She's really one of my personal highlights for the Parade, I hope she can return! More importantly of course, I hope she'll be OK!!
Saw the parade Sunday 25th and she still was absent, the evil queen from snow white was the only 'live' charecter with the float, it looks really bare without malificent on the front!
I hope Malefiecent recovers soon, she is one of my favourite characters in all the parade!
And it has been more than a month since she fell, maybe they are revising the float to make it more safe? Or she got a serious injury?
Quote from: "Kobato"I hope Malefiecent recovers soon, she is one of my favourite characters in all the parade!

Probably a health and safety thing. Can't risk the cast member falling off and seriously injuring herself so it's likely going through a thorough examination and report before she's allowed back.
Hi Guys,
What exactly happened to Maleficent?
Wendy
Just flick back one page Wendy you can see in more detail, but unfortunately she had a fall from the float hurting herself. We're all hoping she'll be well very soon and back in the parade
I watched the parade 3 times over the last week or so and Maleficent was still missing.
On the first occasion I presumed that she may have just been ill for the day or something, however during the second and third viewing I noticed that all of her voiceovers in the music had been removed and also her section of the float had been covered up entirely. It made it look as though she wouldn't be returning soon anyway.
Regardless, as shown in the above picture, the float is rather dull now :(.
I would imagine there is a lot that has to be done in regards to this, meaning that it might not be suprising if she doesnt return at all. After an accident they would have to do a full investigation into it, also not forgetting that Malificent could have been badly injured and be seeking compensation.
In any case I wouldnt expect to see her any time soon, it could just be that they deem it too unsafe for her to return. Its sad though :( the float does look empty without her.
They are currently working on a new harness system for Maleficent.
They are hoping to get her back in the parade before Halloween. The performer has made a good recovery, and will hopefully be back soon to entertain you "poor imbeciles"

Great! hahaa, it may sound trivial but this has made my day
Now I have to go at christmas time to see her :P
Good to hear the performer has made a recovery, the Villains float did looks odd without it's Maleficent, but health and safety is always more important.
Still, back to spreading evil across every path for her again now  :P
Great to hear! I wonder does she know how much she has been missed and how many were wishing her well?... I mean sending evil wishes? ;)

When I went a few weeks ago, I think Maleficient was there. I did not even know she had been missing from the parade
.
Ill see if I can take a picture when I go! Hope to see her there since I loved her in Fantasmic! ;)
The green Mallificent is back for Halloween :D
What's the green mask?
Quote from: "Columbiad"What's the green mask?
I believe she has a green mask in Fantillusion, but I could be mistaken :?
Yes the green mask is the one in Fanti :)
From April there will be a new version of the interaction for D.O.U.D where the performers will get the guests involved and there will be even more performers involved for example winnie the Pooh will have bumble bees, mary poppins will have either chimney sweeps or jolly holiday couples. The music will be the same but it will be a brand new interaction!!
Woo! More Performers!! I always thought the parade lacks perfmormers in some places, this should be really great :D
Check it - the programme explaining about the alternate route:
I also see the Mark Twain is closed for quite a period, wonder what's happening there?
Can't complain about more performers, sounds fab.
Why is it only main street this Parade ?
Are in the Route from Fantasyland Refurbishments ?
So looking at the schedule for next week, the OUAD parade is at 5pm and no Fantillusion?

Ah well, no major loss for me as saw it last timeI went, although that was in January too so a bit surprised its not there this time around. Just a pity my brothers wont get to see it on there first time there, but won't they don't know they are missing won't hurt them I guess! More time to spend on the rides instead then :D
But is it the entire parade?
If you mean is it the complete OUAD parade, then no it is the truncated version with five floats and just goes up Main Street, around the hub and back down Main Street. If you know the parade, the two floats scheduled to be left out are the ones featuring Toy Story at the front and Pinnochio at the back and the Jungle book float. I was surprised and disapointed that Toy Story was dropped as this is still the year of the New Generation Festival and I think that the interaction with the Toy Story soldiers was good fun!
Actually, it's not the Dreams of Freindship float (Toy Story/Winnie the Pooh), it's Dreams of Laughter and Fun (the Alice in Wonderland/Pinnochio float) that will be left out along with Dreams of Adventure (Lion King & Jungle Book) and Dreams of Romance 1 (Ariel & Aladdin)
So, just to confirm - the floats that will be running during this period are:
Dreams of Imagination
Dreams of Friendship
Dreams of Fantasy
Dreams of Power &
Dreams of Romance 2
Why is the parade being re-routed again? I forgot.
Having more performers sounds great, but of course that comes at the cost with floats being cut. It's a shame to see the Alice float cut, it has some of the best music. :(
Also, why just up & down Main Street? I don't understand that change
There is alot LESS performers in this shortened parade!
They have cut 3 floats and about 25 performers, the only reason this is happening is because the Bella Notte part of Fantasyland will be blocked off while they fix the flooring, and the parade cannot go its usual way!!
Yeah, there seems to be somee confusion here... disneydream said that more performers will be added for the Magical Moments Festival that starts April 6th (?)
But between now and march, it will be the shortened version.
The first video's of the "new" parade have been posted on YouTube!
Personally, I think that the announcement is a big mess (Please DLP, hire an American to do your voiceovers, not some Frenchman with a corny American accent :P ), and I was suprised to see the individual float loops dropped for "just like we dreamed it" :? but I suppose it makes sense as the floats have to huddle close together on Central Plaza.
It sorta reminds me of the WWOD parade, just one song looped... I'd be going slightly mad if I were stood on Main Street, hearing it over and over  .

It strikes me that those travelling in the next three month's, me included, will be getting a sub standard experience with the parade. I fully appreciate why the changes are being made, but why oh why just that one song over and over? It just about sums up DLRP today that everything they do seems to be a quick and cheap fix. Surely they could have given us a better musical experience and left the same number of dancers to help fill the gap caused by the missing floats. I love DLRP, but I despair over the way it is run these days!
I don't think having the same song over and over again is much of an issue, especially with the 'new' parade route only being for a short period. I'd rather have that and a shorter parade, than no parade at all while the work goes on!
Plus don't forget how long we had Dancin' A Catchy Rhythm for before OUAD! That was just the same song looped over and over and people still miss that song. To me, it looks like you're getting a shorter parade, but with more dancing/energy than the long parade had.
Actually I quite like it. I do love the original music, but I've never liked how the music overlapped from float to float. It's cool that the characters still sing along to the track like they did in the showmodes and the atmosphere of everything in Central Plaza seems great. Opening with a big cast ahead of the first float really heightens the standard in my opinion. People can't be fooled by a smaller cast. Most dancers or characters ALWAYS creates a more energetic and impressive experience.
My only regret is that they play an instrumental of the music before the parade begins. This makes the opening less spectacular in my opinion
Well, it just goes to show that we all have different opinions! This parade is likely to be with us for three months and I still feel that they could have done far more with the music than a simple loop, hell they don't even play the whole tune, no doubt that 's because the beginning is so obviously the start of the tune and it would draw attention to the lack of effort they have made. As to the extra dancers at the start of the parade, well I would have preferred to have all the usual dancers, even if they're float is missing, these guys would be in character rather than a blue and white satin outfit!
Let's hope that the improvements in the surface and the "new interactive parade" will be worth waiting for!
I'm taking my sister for her birthday the first week of march. I knew it was off season and some things wouldnt be the same, bt I foolishly assumed the parade would be the same. I know since they open all year round that these things will happen, but it still blows. I don't want her first DLP trip to seem like a poor version of what a Disney park is.
Dreams of Romance 2 has been switched for Dreams of Romance 1 it seems :?
Either they found Dreams of Romance 2 was too long to comfortably fit around Central Plaza or they're alternating the floats...
[youtube:19bzyfg9]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydA5-NzE7e4[/youtube:19bzyfg9]
Notice they've shut off the little waterfall feature on the shell that's normally on when the floats stop for a showstop ;)
Maybe its just a rotational thing? You would think that they had tried it all out before they made the changes, but hey it is DLRP! With Dream of Romance 1 you get more prince and pricessess dancing!
Thanks for posting the videos - its not as bad as I imagined it would be, the shortened parade. Not ideal by any means, and I'm still secretly hoping they've finished the fantasyland floor refurb before I get there in mid-march ;) , but I can live with it. Looks like the very start/end of the route will be the quietest place to stand (no change there).

Some interesting information has come to light about the new interactive showstops for the Magical Moments festival!
QuoteThe parade will feature six new costumes for the performers and the interactive show stop will have small costumes for children, so that they can be slipped over their normal clothing to look like the performers. They will then be invited to dance along with the performers in the newly choreographed show stop. For example the Alice float will have playing cards outfits for the children, and the Toy Story float will have "stick horses" with Bullseye's head, so that kids can ride on them.

oh yes I saw this too!! On the same website they also said that the Winnie The Pooh section of the parade will be accompanied by Bee's. I presume these are dancers? Sounds pretty exciting.. I'm looking forward to seeing the changes!! I'm intregued as to whether it will have props and things like the 'Celebrate' parade in Disneyworld!
I cant believe the music is on a loop the whole of the parade! We are going in Feb and i knew the parade was missing a few floats and that the route was shorter but why cant they adapt the music or captain rocket says had dancers to fill the gaps of the missing floats! It will be my mums first visit and although she (and probably many other people who are going for the first time) wont know any different we know what the parade should be like! :(
I would do away with the satin clad dancers at the front of the parade and lead off with Chip and Dale as usual and then leave in Alice and the Mad hatter/Playing cards and the toy soldiers to make up for the loss of those floats, As usual DLRP take the easy and cheap way out and beggar the audience, after all its low season!!!
Just to clear some things up here:
- It's not possible for DLP to have the seperate music loops they have during the normal parade. With this short parade, there will be 5 floats at Central Plaza at the same time. If all of these floats should have their own music (and their seperate underliner loops should be broadcasted via the speakers on Central Plaza), the music would be one big mess. It's too much loops in one space. During the normal parade there are only 3 floats on Central Plaza at the same time (parade mode and showstop mode).
- During the first public performance, they used Dreams of Romance II, but found out that, on Central Plaza, everything was very cramped together. During the second performance (and so on) they've replaced Dreams of Romance II with Dreams of Romance I, which is much shorter so the parade has more room to maneuver. As a result, as you can see in the video, having the Disney Princes & Princesses in front of the float, looks way better!

I had suspected the same thing! Thanks for clearing it up Tuvok
Quote from: "Tuvok"Just to clear some things up here:
I didn't think about that tbh, I suppose we are lucky the parade is still on and will have a fantastic trip whatever happens :)
We are just back from an extra one-day trip so we could see an enjoy the shortened parade. We liked the group of dancers at the beginning of the parade. The music-loop is not boring and it's great to see all the characters do a choreography-routine on the same music. Dream of Romance I was still in the parade witch means that 5 princess-couples where dancing in front what was a amazing picture. We are looking forward to our trip in 3 weeks so we could enjoy it again :-)
I do agree with that - Dreams of Romance II was out of commission on my October 08 trip, and every day the Princes and Princesses walked/danced the whole parade route, I thought it was fabulous and it increased the interaction from them during the parade.

Looks pretty good. Although saying "Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade's route is modified" is a bit iffy. Too many possessives, and it should probably be "has been" or "will be" modified. Sorry, had to say it. Do DLP really still not have a fluent English speaker around for these things?
On another note, I'm surprised it hasn't been rebranded as "Disney Once Upon a Dream Parade" yet.

I guess it's simply a trapping of having to translate from French, possibly on a tight deadline... Happens even to native speakers when translating in a hurry, from my own experience. Of course it still boils down to a question of organization.

So are there any updates on the parade yet anyone?
Not really an update, but last weekend the parade was still in its truncated form, but there does seem to be good progress with the Fantasyland floor replacement and I would speculate that the parade may return to its normal route fairly soon!

Where do you've got that information ?
A reaction @ that pgoto on the Characters Photo Blog sad that she's gone beacause she gets a new costume for the Magical Moments Festival
hahaha... what a joke!!! where do I get my information?? hmmmmm
I was stood at the bottom of the float yesterday afternoon, dressed as a flame dancer, watching as the harness snapped off backstage!!! good enough source???
She's not getting a new costume for the mmf.... in fact we'll be lucky if she's back before the end of the year!!!
Oh dear, not again. I hope something will get sorted.
I find it incredible that this problem continues! With all the technical facilities at Disney's disposal how come they seem unable to solve a seemingly relevantly straightforward problem like this?
Malefecent is my favourite performer in the parade and I am glad I have only just returned having seen her twice whilst at the park, the thought of that empty space on the villains float is just awful!

Oh I'm sorry Ididn't now that ...
I see that the Magical Moments page haven't been updated yet and the parade is having an impact in it, when is the parade kicking off with the new show stops?
First videos of the parade with the new showstops are up. They don't seem to be working all that well (no suprise really, we know Europeans prefer to watch).
But there are some nice new costumes, and the boys in blue (in front of Dreams of imagination) seem to be sticking around.
I don't really like them, because the performers are playing with the kids, it takes away from the overall experience for everyone else, as they aren't doing a routine :(

Thanks for posting. I like the original stops better, but I think some children will have fun joining in, and I expect Mum and Dad will enjoy watching them.
This showstops look so... boring :(
I agree too, I like to see the performers do their dance, especially the princesses with their princes. (Also the Mad Hatter / with cards =P )
I agree thought it will be nice for the kids and their parents, but for everyone else, it is pretty boring. =(

I agree with this! For everyone else is it VERY boring.... :(
Some videos of the extra performers. Not sure about the blue coat people up the front, I prefered Chip'n Dale and Pluto!
The bee's are nice though. Why did they have to mess around with something that was good! If anything needs messing around with, it's Fantillusion. They need way more CM's on that parade than what there are.

I agree. I understand how these interactive sections cane tbe too strictly routined, as who knows how the kids are gonna react to it. I feel like they've missed a beat with these - i think the Prince/Princess one, very cute, but the others and very general, and are a missed opertunity for something a bit more unique.
Would it have been too difficult to work in new music to each of the stops? Or some of the masked character's talking?
The show stops appear to be great if you are one of the kids selected or their parents, excruciatingly boring for everyone else, imagine trying to explain to your kid that they are'nt one of the "lucky ones" and the repercusions of that! At least at character meet and greets you can wait your turn, but this is just so random that it is bound to lead to heartache for so many children. Bad bad move.
Stilll thinking about what to think about the new show stops( where is Belle... ;) ) As a mother I would love to see my child dancing with a prince... or anyone else. As a spectator, I don`t know yet. Maybe it gets better seeing the whole parade..
...should I maybe teach my daughter the waltz? ( I`m still thinking here...)
Anyway I`m looking forward on going in October
Aurora
So dissapointed, yet again the older audience is left out/forgotten about.
I just think they look so tacky and plain now, the older stops looked much better.
At least it's only for a year. They might improve as the year goes on.
Hopefully during halloween there will be no show stops again. I'm not impressed with the show stops. Obv I would be excited if my Daughter was chosen but I can obv see the other point of view. So please no show stops for Halloween.
When I showed DD she said I wish I could dance with the princess's. I doutbt shell get chosen so will be one uspet lil girl along with loads of others. I think its a bit unfair
I don't like these 'interactive' showstops. I definately prefer the 'old' showstops, especially with the Disney Princesses and Princes. Their dance routines were so magical! Love the new outfits for the performers though.
Agreed, even though my kids are of an age where they would probably get a kick out of interacting, it is far more entertaining to see a proper dance routine. This is why WDW world parades were always the worst in my experience, they were all full of this junk.

I totally agree. If I'm honest, if my kids were picked, it would be the best idea EVER! But if someone else's kids were picked, or even worse just one and not both of my kids were picked, I think they would be very upset. I know I would be! The character meet and greets are hard enough, with people who just don't grasp the idea of a queue, but there are absolutley nowhere near the amount of children in those queues. I think it would make the whole parade a lot of hassle and upset instead of the joyful and pleasant experience it should be. I personally don't want to spend a lot of time watching other kids experiencing what I know my kids would just love to do and in my opinion if they can't let everyone join in (and obviously they can't) then it should be a spectator sport only :D
I saw someone post on twitter that the interactive stops have already been removed, can anyone confirm or deny?
Quote...are not easily manageable by the poor Cast Members. The kids walk off and on the parade route where they please, no-one seems to listen to the instructions given by Cast and Characters, people cross the street, and a whole manner of difficult circumstances. I know from my CM friends on Facebook that none of them liked it, and yesterday, just one day after it debuted, the shop stops were cut! We have no actual confirmation as to the reason for this, but we can only hope that they are rethinking what they are going to do, or how they can manage it better, as it truly was a disaster.
From Disney Character Central Blog (//http://www.charactercentral.net/Blog.aspx?BlogEntryId=189)
Lol - you'd think after 19 years of ops they would learn. Between the different languages and cultures/rudeness levels, this sort of thing does not work well in Paris.
This another European problem then? It sounds more like children behaving as children to me. What makes you think it is a cultural issue?
I think what Dave means is that people in the US are all into the 'join in with the fun'/'interactive' nonsense, whereas Europeans are more timid and prefer to spectate rather than participate. :)
Sorry, I meant languages being and issue as well as culture. In Disneyland, WDW, and TDL (and Hong Kong to a lesser extent), people largely speak the same language, and come from similar cultural backgrounds. It makes it easier than at DLP to manage groups of people, where there are 22 different languages spoken within a 3 hour travel distance.
Add to that the "rules don't apply to me" mentality. And I am afraid, many trips I have taken, some poorly behaved people try to exploit this issue (note the girls smoking on It's a small World despite me asking them to stop in 9 languages, each time they pretended not to understand).
There is bad behaviour and misunderstandings in all the resorts, but DLP has the largest level of risk. Therefore I would have thought they would have derisked this by not including the options and instead putting on a really good show.
In the American parks, the entertainment is quite interactive, as the people seem to lap it up. And the quality, variety and change is greater in Anaheim as it is a local base. In Tokyo, there are often choreographed dances that are taught before the show or parade. In Paris, it is more challenging to manage.
That said, the awesome show of Cinemagique would probably not be popular in the US parks. And in my experience and from reading message boards, Motors Action is not as popular in WDW as it is at WDSP either.
People must accept that different cultures, nationalities, languages, social positions, ages etc. have different tastes. Why people act like it is a taboo to discuss it on this board boggles my mind. It is, what it is. Why do you think so much money is spent on marketing and market research in private companies; or on needs assessments and censuses in the public sector? We should celebrate the differences.
Every Disney resort has a very different character, with the good and bad to accompany it. In DLP's case, it means (or at least in the past meant), the music and physical theatre carries the stories. And the menues for food and entertainment are Europeanised and amazing detail attractions (down side - poor maintenance, entertainment, and fireworks). WDW offers interaction that is very character based, but lots of stuff to see and do (down side, too big, poor maintenance, and takes forever to get anywhere). Disneyland has well honed artists in a very mature and developed park that is always changing (downside, it is always crowded and a lot of people treat it like their home or worse). Tokyo has an amazing show quality and everything is pristine (down side, they close attractions early dependent on crowd size, small portions, poor fireworks, and no bending any rules). HKDL is pristine and offers lots of entertainment (downside - very toony and small).
I also think the issue is, people do cut in front of the parades more, and do what they feel like. This is why Fantillusion is much shorter than originally planned. I could see it now, kids joining in could lead to people crossing the road or joining in if they feel like it. And because of the different languages, it is difficult to explain. If the majority of people spoke English (like in the US), or Japanese (like at TDL), or even French at DLP, it is a non issue, but this is not the case.
Also, this is not the only time they leave me scratching my head. Alice's Curious Labrynth opened in 1992, with many interactive elements, some still are there. SeeSaw rock was another one in Adventure Isle. Sadly it is no longer a see saw.
So fast forward 15+ years to when Toon Studios opened. Cars Race Rally opens with Luigi and Guido you can pose with and Mater and Lightening. All of them now have fences around them.
Fast forward to TSPL last year. Where I discussed 3 years before opening, the concerns around some of the queue designs and the interactive elements. Within weeks of opening, the Army men had to be fenced in, the RC Racer was taken away, and Rex had a big hole in him.
And yet you can go to California or Tokyo and interact with Toon Town props.
It demonstrates there are market differences, and points that need to be learned about how to cater to the market areas in a sustainable way. Disneyland has been in business now for nearly 56 year, DLP will be 19 in a fortnight's time. And yet they are making rookie errors, that cost more money and goodwill.
Whether they are the need for rubber slip mats, or the issue with show stops, I would have thought there is a substantial body of evidence to learn from. But instead of recruiting and retaining people who understand these issues, they bring in folks from hotel or restaurant or retail backgrounds to run the place. Without good attractions, maintenance, and shows, people would not be as keen to stay the night, eat a meal or buy souvenirs.
And there is no point getting upset when I talk about European markets, because that is what >99% of visitors to DLP are, and that is how WDC refer to it all. As well as having French markets, Ile de France Markets, English markets (the forgotten German/Austrian market), the family market, the couples market, the mature market, the new visitor market, the encumbant legacy market etc.
and when something does not work, it is a problem:
e.g. the tokyo market was obsessed with pins, to the point where people would set out blankets with their trades, creating almost like a market. It became such a problem, they banned pins despite making money from it. This was unique to the Japanese market, and was not banned from the other parks.
Similarly the Japanese market was getting to the point where they would wait 5 hours for a show or parade. TDL solved it by banning waiting an hour before, and conducting a lottery for hub shows.
The California market was a different beasty. It is estimated that there are 1/2m annual pass holders for Disneyland. When they opened up DCA, they thought it was going to be so successful, they did not offer APs. They were wrong. However, when they opened World of Colour, they were worried about it being swamped and people camping out for hours in the land where people carry guns and have been known to use them. They solved this one by making WOC fastpass and meal packages only.
In WDW, the recession hit hard and they considered how to manage shows and closing times. They then decided, since most people stay for long periods, they could stagger closings of parks and shows as long as they publicise it much in advance. Also, the park VPs do not like spending on entertainment, which is why the MK has had the same parade for 11 years. But although there are repeat visitors, there are not as many as to DL, TDL or even DLP.
Thinking of problems, markets and solutions is what they are supposed to do. I hoped to help articulate that and to explain their is no offence meant. Simply my observations as a former Programme Manager and Business Architect, and a lifelong international Disney fan with internal links.
But if you prefer we could have the conversation of:
"I do hope I will see the Churnabog float, it is my favorite. What's yours?" That kind of discourse gets old quick. after 18 years of being involved in Disney on-line discussion groups, I like to get to the core thematic discussions. Nothing is ever meant as personal, unless it is in defence.
Thank you for your interesting thoughts and insights, and I agree that while DLP hits the nail on the head in so many ways and places, in others it misses so badly. It sounds like you should be the one sorting out the respective marketing strategies davewasbaloo!
Thanks Disney bud
And a question everyone else. If interaction works in DLP, why was Disney Folies, the Explorer's Club, Kids' Carnival, the Stitch Dance thing all deemed as unpopular?
Your posts are always so intresting Davewasbaloo, and I agree with most of them. Why Dlp are continuing to force the interactive elements after so many failures is beyond me. Personally I enjoy getting involved in the interactive aspects, although I highly doubt any of the cast will be picking a 16 year old boy to dance with them.
That is something I think WDW has over Dlp; they focus on the whole family, everyone can get involved without feeling silly or out of place. Where as at dlp everything is geared towards kids, which is a shame really.
Dlp is probably the trickiest Market, because there are many different cultures in Europe. Some like interactive, others don't
Thanks for this very interesting post, Dave. It's always great to read your comparisons to other Disney parks.
Americans are indeed more interactive than Europeans. They enjoyed being part of the craziest things and sometimes I felt a bit embaressed for those guests, because everyone was looking an laughing at them, but they enjoyed it and had a lot of fun.
Like Peter mentioned, Europe is a tricky market. While Spanish visitors like to participate, at least I got the impression during our four visits, Germans enjoy just the parks, the attractions and shows, but don't want to participate in anything.
I think you'd probably find a broad consensus on that point, many European visitors want to experience/spectate but would rather not feel forced to participate. And yes the different languages must make managing an interactive event like herding cats. I wonder why they keep trying it though? I thought the Discovery land Stitch dance event was embarrassing and didn't look very successful at all.
Dave, I'm glad you expanded on your point btw.
Quote from: "DopeyDad"Dave, I'm glad you expanded on your point btw.
My pleasure. Sometimes time constraints of work and family get in the way. Ultimately, I like a lot of the things that make DLP and it's market unique. I am hard on it as I know it has the potential to still be the greatest resort if we had the right management team (and money - lol). When I point something out, there is a purpose. The only market I enjoy slamming is the WDW one :-" (kidding, kind of).
But yes, they need to make appropriate choices.

To be honest, I feel pretty international. Lived in the US for 11 years all over California and Nevada. Lived in the UK for 25 years (worked in every local authority in the UK and Ireland, as well as working in Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, France, Africa, Hong Kong, Dubai, and State of Victoria Australia. Been to all the continents other than Antartica (on the bucket list). My BSc is in International Relations, and I am a social scientist today, it is my job to do these sorts of comparisons and develop plans. there are things I love and hate about my birthplace, my adoptive home, and many of the places I have been and would like to go.
In fact, it is the international vibe I really dig about DLP most of all - seeing people from so many languages and cultures enjoying themselves at the same time is just amazing and unifying IMHO. Walt's vision of EPCOT if you will, or It's a Small world. I have also seen it get pretty ugly for similar reasons, and I think a mix of that, the weather, and some bonehead management choices also up the stress factor for a lot of guests over the other resorts too.
Absolutely, the cultural differences can be what make DLP so special, like when they get the bilingual aspects so right (Motuers action or Animagique say). It introduces us and our children to the differences which is great. But you're right, how come DLP aren't better at managing these differences, why the heavy interactive emphasis on this years entertainment and the very Francophile Hub show?
Quote from: "DisneyBud"I saw someone post on twitter that the interactive stops have already been removed, can anyone confirm or deny?
They are coming back for when the festival starts officially. They was only used at the weekend for the press event. So sadly the stops are here to stay for a while anyway.

No, that's the "smoke" from the chimney's on the Winnie the Pooh half of the float :P
It looks as though it just stalled, so they brought out the little buggy to pull it. The same happened when Dreams of Romance (2) crashed into the pavement near the Town Square parade exit a few years back.

Oh, lol. ^^ Well, I guess you can't always go without a hitch.
so the parade stops are here to stay.
They are only here for the current Magical Moments Festival but hopefully they won't be here to stay.
Hopefully they get cut within the next month or so, I really dislike these new show stops.
I totally agree with the different culture view on the parade not working with the interactive show stops, and I don't know why after so many failed attempts in the past (unless they see them as successes for other reasons?) they keep trying them. I get the impression they may be dripped down from WDI, a memo somewhere that goes "make it interactive, it's our new direction", so that is why these things are appearing.
However, another reason they don't work in DOUAD is that the parade simply isn't designed for them! The music, timings and style of the parade is arranged for a short dance section with impact, this takes away that impact and has a feeling of blandness to it. The spaces between the floats are too far apart for the interaction, look at that Mary Poppins stop, there's 4 (tops 5) dancers at that point and a massive space behind them, it doesn't LOOK like a parade is going on, it looks like they've just come out for a quick interaction and then leaving. Not magical, just dull.
The reason the American parks get the interaction to work is that they have the parades themselves shorter (using Block Party Bash as an example here), and the floats are packed tightly together so that the area seems to be really busy and full of activity, they also load the parade up with dancers who not only dance around to create energy, but are provided with props (trampolines/balls/ribbons) to keep things changed up all the time. The DOUAD stops only have small, unnoticeable and forgettable props to give to people. Drums, sandwich boards, there's no energy there!
If they wanted interaction they should have had 'mini floats' between the main ones, which dancers could have interacted on and then got kids/adults from the audience to just join in with a dance, instead of focussing on a few kids, put into the music something like "come on, get up and join our dreams!" from the characters, and then have the dancers beckon the audience to come forward onto the route and dance, no singling out, totally out of guests choice, and if no one goes then there's still a dance/filler during the show stop.
If there's one thing I've seen in theatre which would apply here, is that if just one person gets up and dances during the finale, and looks like they're having fun, then very quickly others will join in. That's all it takes here, no sense of "hold this, walk like this, hit this drum", just a "come on, lets have fun" feeling instead.
Just my two cents..

That's all it takes here, no sense of "hold this, walk like this, hit this drum", just a "come on, lets have fun" feeling instead.
Just my two cents..
=D> I totally agree with you there, cram all of the floats down at Main Street and do show stops that are like 8 minutes long like Block Party Bash.
Characters Photo Blog posted this on their Facebook not too long ago:
QuoteA few tests are going on for the Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade : after Dreams of Laughter & Fun and "Toy Story" yesterday, it was time for Dreams of Imagination to get the original coregraphy back during the showstops today - but still featuring the umbrella.
I been told the last 45 seconds they are bringing kids in to do a quick dance and pose at the end. So guess this is a lot better than before.
That sounds a lot better, rather than an awkward couple of minutes watching children walk around in circles

Not sure if they will keep it like this because the Toy Story float was back to the horses and the kiddos again. SIGH
I have heard that in a few weeks they changing the parade again, and that everyone will be doing the same thing. Have a feeling that means the orginial show stops are coming back.
The old show-stops are not returning!
There will be another new version of showstops arriving in the first week of May... prepare say goodbye to the props and "Just Like We Dreamed it"! :-" They're still going to be interactive though, BUT everyone will be able to take part!

This is getting more messy by the minute. No more 'Just Like We Dreamed It' and EVERYONE can join in? Oh for god sake, can somebody talk some sense into the entertainment department. They are totaly loosing it with OUADP. I'm already feeling sorry for the Guest Flow Cast Members...
Well, that's disappointing. I really like "Just Like We Dreamed it" with the old show-stops.
However it's a good thing that the props are going. I thought they were just an epic fail...
Alternatively, like Tuvok said, it is gonna get messy, if they allow ANYONE close to the floats then kids are probably going to climb on them to get to the characters (if they don't get off the float).
Well, all we can do it wait to see what's going to happen... but I think that this is going to happen all over again and the old show-stops will return. [-o<
everyone can join in! but I think they're not going to leave the sidewalk.... ;)
How can they not have Just like we dreamed it in the showstop? The whole float audio loops system is based around that track... But, as long as Dancin' a catchy rythem doesn't return, I'm interested to see what transpires :P
Oh this is a joke, what we all going to sway our arms and clap or something from the behind the parade ropes?
They are ruining the whole parade by changing it constantly. Why can't they just give us back the old show stops? Don't fix what ain't broke.

Oh yeah, but I wouldn't see it has an "interaction" anyway.... :P But theres no room to do anything from the sidewalk.

Someone on the DisneyCentralPlaza forum gave this statement:
(Translated from French)
"In response to rumors about the cancellation of interactions at the show stop, I got information from a CM and he said that Disney had no intention whatsoever to remove them and stop the show going last the whole season of the Festival of Magic Moments"
100% Unsure if this is true or not. But I guess we'll have to wait and see if anything happens. :? :-"
Has the parade been shortened at all? It seemed to be over a lot quicker than it was when we were there a couple of years ago.
I didn't think I would like the show stops and I was totally right. We ended up staring at the side of the Toy Story float for ages, and due to timing issues we were at the back of the crowd so the adults couldn't even see what was going on at street level (daughter was on daddy's shoulders and son was asleep in the pushchair). At least we could see everything on the floats as they went past, but we have no idea what went on when the floats stopped!

I love Dancin a catchy rhythm!
Hi All,
I returned to DLRP on Friday for the day to avoid the "Wedding" and my daughter joined the Princesses and Princes for a dance during the show stop. It absolutely made her day, she is still smiling now!!
A great idea for a special moment!!!!!!!
Love it and hope it stays!!!!
the knack is to identify the correct place to stand and get there approx half an hour prior to the parade start time!!
Roll on 17th June!!

I've no children to worry about joining in (or not!) but I always seem to fail at getting good photos of the Princesses on their floats - where's the best place to watch the parade to see their show stop?

The first Dreams of Romance showstop is in Fantasyland at Restaurant Bella Notte. The second Dreams of Romance showstop is at Central Plaza on the Adventureland/Frontierland side.
Thanks, hopefully will get it right for once!

I'm a big fan of Dancing a Catchy Rhythm too! It's my favourite DLP track!
I don't like the idea or recycled music for the show-stops & I'd love to hear a completely new score but I know that is VERY unlikely. So I'm guessing either an older Dlp song or a song borrowed from over seas.
I think from overseas is most likely. I saw something somewhere that all Disney park music gets shared around
I'll say it again, don't fix what ain't broke.
I don't know, I don't think showstops work as well in DLP parades. Aside from the whole culture/participation thing, the design of the floats in Paris is very different to the floats in California for example.
Look at the floats in Paris over the years, they're huge, at least by comparison to the American Parks. Disneyland CA in particular has a rather small narrow parade route which means many of the floats are smaller and more "ground level" in terms of platforms characters stand on etc. If you watch parades in CA you often see characters casually stepping on and off floats and walking on the street during the parade. It makes the parade so grounded and accessible.
Paris on the other hand, has a wide parade route and features much larger floats, look at the earlier parades in Paris in the 90s for example, the floats and the characters on them tower over the people. Compare Cinderella's carriage for example: in the American parks she rides in a real-life carriage drawn by horses, small and simple, in Paris she used to ride in a Giant Pumpkin carriage with fake horses running on clouds in front. The parade is much more based on spectacle, it doesn't feel accessible to the audience and looks more like something you just want to watch rather than join in with.
Add to that the fact that the climate affects peoples' willingness to join in. When everyone's sat around on the hot dusty curb in CA, getting up and joining in feels easy, a bitter winter afternoon in Paris on the other hand means people are wrapped up, frozen and rather inhibited.
Yet Paris' larger parades have their advantages, or least they DID: remember when Prince Phillip used to actually fight the dragon and save Aurora during the Parade? And how Maleficent stood at the top of her tower on her float?
Spectacle and the detail within is the direction to go with the entertainment in DLP.
Agreed. These audience participation bits are great, if your family member is chosen, but that is it. I am not a huge fan of show stops anyway, I simply prefer longer parades (a big part of why I prefer Main Street Electrical Parade to Fantillusions - as well as the music). But at least Just Like We Dreamed It had some decent choreography before.
Still, it is not as bad as the Following the Leader show which is fun for 8 families our of the 100's squeezing in trying to watch.
According to a tweet from InsideDLParis, the new show stops start today! :)

Also, I heard on the other forums that the parade will be at 19:00 in the summer period and not 17:00... is this true? Since I've never been in the summer before.
Coz of the new Star's and their car's parade MIGHT be to pushed to 17:00 so DOUD is pushed back to 19:00 ish then HUB show at 21:00 then other after that.... :?
those are some extreme timings. so how late will wds be open, and how late will dlp stay open?

Eh..... I'm leaning more towards dislike than like... but ATM I'm still in the middle.
Also guys, I was talking about Summer times. The park is open late in summer (9th July - 4th Sept) currently the parade is at normal time of 17:00 and the Hub show is 19:00
Sorry, but I hate this new show stops so much! Very boring thing!
I hope for canceling this for next years!!
Thanks for posting the video.
The music doesn't have the "Disney" feel to it! :( And it just looks like a glorified kids party! What about the adults entertainment??? I really hope this changes by the time we visit in September!
Walt always wanted the Disney parks to be a place where children and adults could both enjoy themselves - doesn't seem like this is happening at the moment!
Welcome to my world....the trajectory was set a while ago. I hope the balance is restored one day.
Oh great, another bigger failure for the 'Magical Moments Full of Plastic and Boring Festival'.
noooo! What have they done?! What was so bad about Just Like We Dreamed It?
If this is still running like this when I visit in the summer I'll be very disappointed
Can someone tell me how this at all changes the fact that Guest Flow are having a nightmare, just look at the guest flow cm half the way through for evidence. Plus I thought the change was to make it less boring for everyone watching it, personally this looks like the most boring pile of rubbish the resort have ever come up with. If you are going to play a fast paced peace of music, well evidently it would be expected that there would be fast paced choreography. Instead, no we end up with this! All I can say is I hope Stars and Cars turns out better, but I for now will not hold my breath.

These are normal parade times for the summer season, they always push back the parades so they can fit Fantillusion in at 11pm, resulting in the need for the same amount of cast ;) .
Just had a look at the video, and the kids seems like that they have no idea on whats going on and what to do....
The music is just awful, it doesn't fit the parade. Just like we dreamed it was the perfect match for the parade. The music honestly looks/sounds like the only thing thats changed.
Just watched the video of the show stops....how utterly embarrassing! it's like a really lame kids party. The CMs must feel like utter berks...let's grab some kids, confuse them, try and stop the adults from getting off the pavement to look after their kids, ...and then...hey I know....do ring a ring a roses to some poorly cooked up tune.
I'm a massive fan, but I think I would be cringing if that stopped in front of me and my kids!

Well, I think someone should speak up on behalf of these wonderful new show stops..... I wonder where the hell we are going to find this person!!! This is the biggest load of cadswallop that the DLRP management team have dreamed up. Boring for everyone except the parents of a group of confused kids wandering aimlessley hand in hand with a character with some distinctly below par Disney music in the background. The plot has truly been lost with this tripe. I am always happy to start queing for the parade 45/60 minutes in advance, I don't think I will even bother watching it on my next visit. Patrick and Anthony, if you still have the contact with DLRP management, I would suggest that you encourage them to read this thread, who knows they may be able to save something form this debacle

Please Anthony and Krystof for contacting DLRP management- this is totally destroyed magic in the park! Thank you! [-o<
God.. The music isn't Disney, the dancing for the dreams of romance float to be honest looks like it belongs in a kiddies park like legoland. Why would they do this. Walt would be turning in his grave if he found out about this!!!!!
The music is Disney, it's a poor remix of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, but it's been Character Express treated and tweaked beyond recognition.
Parades don't need to be interactive, by their nature they are something which you watch as it passes. Interactive would be a show, and the character express show this year would be perfect for interaction. Maybe they should switch off the show stops here, onto the dancing there?
The stops actually suck all the energy out of the parade, it takes the magic out for people who aren't involved. I'm all for changes to things if they work/are on a trial period, however the 'this is what we want, this is what you're stuck with' approach is wrong, and ruins a perfectly good (once hailed as the worlds best Disney parade) show!

My wife took the pictures on her iphone, I will ask her to upload them and will send some across, she was with Cinderella and Prince Charming at the first show stop.
There seems to be alot of disgruntled parents/disney fans. It may be "a mess/waste of time" bla bla bla if you are not involved, but for those lucky ones, it is truly magic and lets face it, part of the Disney magic is to look at the characters and you get to see them for longer, so what is the issue???!!!???

There's good reason to be disgruntled (although I hope you're being sarcastic), the parade isn't just for kids, and it definately isn't just for kids and their parents. Walt set out to build Disneyland in California as a place where kids and adults alike could have fun, after watching kids on a carousel and seeing the parents being unable to ride at the sides. The parade isn't for kids and parents, it's for everyone. Right now these show stops are not only dissapointing people who visit who don't have kids*, but also the kids who AREN'T chosen to take part.
I have no doubt that your children enjoyed getting that extra interaction with the characters and taking part in general. But just think, there's other kids there who aren't chosen by a Princess, a Prince, or a giant talking animal, who will feel that they aren't as special. It's all or nothing to keep everyone happy, and at 'the happiest place on Earth' surely they should be aiming for all at all times?
*I realise that people these days assume DLP is for kids and parents, that's due to bad marketing, but for people like me who will most likely never have children of their own, it's these 'kid friendly' additions which take away the magic of the parks that little bit more. It's for everyone, I should be able to enjoy the parade without having to sit through other people cooing about how adorable their little ones look dancing in a circle and on the other side hearing an unchosen child cry. Stop the interactions altogether and eradicate both problems in one hit. If you wanna do interactions, run a pre-parade to warm the crowd up.
Very well written, Scissorsboi, and I totally agree with you.
Unfortunately there are some parents out there who think that Disneyland belongs to them and their children. Sometimes it was really annoying when parents looked at us in the way that we shoudn't be here, especially when we wanted to get a picture with a character or queued for Dumbo.
It's about time that DLRP offers something for adults again. But that's not the topic here.
I really hope that many people complain at Guest Relations about the parade, so that these interactions will stop.
A point being missed by most of us is that DLRP is a place were anyone can do anything if they are prepared to be at the right place/right time and prepared to queue with everyone else, this is fair to all. The parade stops are not fair to everyone and whilst a small handful of children and their parents will be delighted, a very large number of children will be disapointed and that is just not fair! This is the main reason why these stops should be canned! What would happen if parents and children not invited decided to tke part anyway? the Disney security could be overwhelmed and chaos would ensue, don't think its not possible, parents can be totally illogical when it comes to their kids! Bring back Just like we dreamed it!!!
someplace where can people scribe an complain about this thing! Or petition maybe?
Quote from: "ulak"someplace where can people scribe an complain about this thing! Or petition maybe?

I would suggest writing in letters, send them to a forum member who will be going to DLRP shortly then him/her will give them to City Hall.

Send a private message to a moderator so that next time they meet management they can tell them

Ok can I just add that I'm not one of these parents with a child who thinks they own Disneyland.
You know the best thing about going at Halloween will be that there is no Show stops.
They have ruined zip-a-dee-do-dah for me, one of my fave songs ruined by DLP managment. :(
so, they wont build splash mountain, arguably THE best ride in the world, but they will ruin the music its based on?!!

I think the forum is
read, generally, but if by the people who have power to do something, I don't know. As for other forums, I can't see anything on Disney Central Plaza... It's probably lucky for the parade that there's a lot of other things happening right now.
The show stop is pretty terrible. Wasn't this meant to improve upon the earlier Magical Moments change? It just reminds me of terrible kids parties I had to endure during my childhood. Even then I'd choose to sit out at the side...
Its like a dress rehearsal when a few people turn up who haven't been to any of the classes leading up to it and try join in....
So so messy... I will be skipping the parade in July
This version of Zip-a-dee... kind of sounds like that which was mixed into 'Remember the magic', the parade soundtrack for WDW 25th celebration. I kind of like the song. At least the powers that be realised that something more upbeat was needed. However, I am sure this wasn't the right way of executing it. Maybe they have run out of ideas now/can't be bothered to have another change, so we will be stuck with this all season?

Hey no offense taken. I do know where your coming from though as I feel the same sometimes :)
I just wanted to add that I have a very lively five year old little girl who would love nothing more than to dance with the characters at Disneyland, but even I think this parade is truly awful.
The parade should be magical and this sucks the magic right out of it - it loses energy and pace and, without wanting to over dramatise, it does kind of degrade the characters.
My little girl is happy to watch the parade and content with having Mickey and Mary Poppins "wave" at her. This parade has been a massive mistake and I hope it all gets rectified asap.

This is the same for my daughter, don't get me wrong she would love to get chosen but if she didn't she would be constantly asking why and possibly could get upset.

Hasn't there been enough disruption of the OUAD parade already this year with the Fantaysland route not being used while the floor was laid etc? This is just horrible :? - I want the OUAD parade back, unsullied and seamless. I'm glad I've no plans to go to DLP again until 20th anniversary is in full swing.

I believe that the comment about parents who think they own DLP was aimed at me, as my children were chosen ones in the parade. The wonderful thing about being human, is that we are all different and have the right to our very own opinions and it is ok to share these without trying to persuade others into a particular stance. In terms of the owning DLP.............No, I don't, however I am a shareholder!!!!! :D/
No my post is not aimed towards you. I was just talking in general, because we already had such a discussion last year. I am not the only one here who has made such experiences.
I am happy for you and your child, but I still think it ruins the parade and is unfair to other children. That is just my opinion.
In general DLRP becomes more and more a park for small children instead of being a park for all ages. Entertainment for adults is nearly non-existent.

This is true, fair enough!!!!

Me too!! :D
Hi, does the parade always start from "it's a small world" and end at Town Square? Or does it alternate every other day?
Nope. It always starts at a small world. :)
I know that eveytime I post, I just criticize everything. But this is unbearable! DLP insists on making errors come true. That is really the place where nightmares come true. They try other Disney parks' key-of-success formula. However, while the others are cutting those stupid guests participation - because it is simply that, foolishness - and making wonderful parades, such as Mickey's Soundsational Parade, DLP is pulling our leg.
Hong Kong Disneyland's new, wonderful Flights of Fantasy Parade has stops with guest participation in it for children. So it's not just DLP that does it other Disney parks do it, too. I like Mickey's Soundsational Parade which doesn't have any stops and that makes for a nice change. I must admit I prefer the original version of OUADP without guest participation for children.
Having just returned, I mut admit that I preferred the old stops than these new interactive ones. But saying that my daughter and niece were lucky enough to be picked to join in with both the jungle book and the princess stops, and it was a lovely experience for them. She still hasn't stopped talking about how she got to hold Prince Charming's hand!

I'm more about the love for Lotso lol.

Lol!
What was the Prince's actual name? :)

Prince Farhad or something similar to that. He owns the most shares in Disneyland Paris apparently.
His name is Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal:

He owns 10% of Euro Disney SCA, the Holding Company of Disneyland Paris. TWDC owns 39.8% and the remaining 50.2% belongs to general shareholders.

10% isn't really many shares when you think about it.
Everyone I seen on Facebook have been called him Prince Fahrad (something along them lines)

Maybe it was another Arabian Prince and not the one who owns the 10%?
I'm sure Disney would offer everyone who pays a million euros a special parade.

Prince Al-waleed is the newphew of King Fahad so maybe thats the connection there.
I just wish I was there to see Lotso.
What I think is sad about OUAD Parade, it was the finest in the Disney kingdom, but these show stops have once again wrecked it. I love that the new Sounsational Parade in California does not have any show stops.
Dr. Facilier, Lotso, Three Little Pigs, Max, Rapunzel & Flynn were all there, I've only found videos of Facilier, The Pigs & Max but I have heard about Lotso, Rapunzel and Flynn.
Will find the videos later.

I looked at U Tube trying to find a video of Lotso in the parade at DLP; but unfortunately couldn't find one.
We were there last Thursday and got back home Tuesday. We wondered why we only had Lotso on the parade the once lol. I noticed Max, the 3 pigs, 7 dwarfs and few others that weren't on the pardade the other days. Dont think Rapunzel was on the parade though.
Here are the two videos of Lotso we have, they are a bit wobbly as I was filming with one hand whilst holding my daughter.

Thank you so much for putting up the Lotso videos - has really made my night! Let's hope Lotso is soon a permanent fixture on the parade! :D/ I did e mail DLP to ask whether Lotso would be doing any meet and greets; but unfortunately I didn't receive a response.
Just watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw4tlY7kCeg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw4tlY7kCeg%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;)
And it made me want to cry a little if I'm honest. I still find it hard to believe they've put that showstop in place of what went before. Watching the opening and the majority of the parade, how well it flows, the music merging together seamlessly... and then just, noise with the showstop.
I really wish they'd bring back Just like we dreamed it. I'm going this summer with my family, and I'm so tempted to avoid this just because of that.

Couldn't agree with you more!! Like what has been said before - what about the kids that don't get picked - how upset will they be! Also of course; what about the big kids that preferred the natural flow of the parade minus the show stops!

Unfortunately the big kids like us don't play a role in DLRP's plans on how to operate the resort.

Such a shame - especially as this was Walt's wishes for the Disney parks.
Wow! the music for the show stop reminds of those big 80's US game-shows!

Yup. It just makes me cringe. You have this lovely flowing music and then, rather than JLWDI building up, you have this mass of drums and whatever... Sort it out, Entertainment!
Been going through my videos from my trip and found this one from the 9th June with Goofy's son Max, the 3 little pigs and a few others behind Mickey's float. It's a bit woobly again as I was holding your my daughter while filming

Also here are a few pics of Donald Duck's nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie and the 7 dwarfs that were on the parade that day as well.

Oh my gosh, I have never seen some of these characters in this parade before and I have seen it a few times. Also, where do you normally see Marie because this is the first time ever that I have seen her in the park and I have been 4 times.
Same here. We`ll be going our /th time and I have never seen any of them. Except Simplet, the green dwarf in the Studios.
Wish I could see them....
Aurora1
They were only included in the parade as request from a VIP, a major shareholder in the company.
I wouldn't get your hopes up on seeing the extra characters again, unless your friends with the Prince.
...or you own a lot of shares in the company. :P Hmmm. Maybe someone here should do that and use their influence to bring back the old parade. XD

Now there's an idea - lol!!
omg im so jealous i have never seen none of these characters!!! not sure about the song i like the just like we dreamed it song makes me all gooey inside!
Aww I'm really going to miss Just Like we Dreamed It, we were there last year and my 4yr old daughter just loved it. We have a regular Parade at home most weeks - we put on the song and she dresses up in her princess costume and parades round the house blowing kisses and doing 'princess waves'! We're going back in Sept and I know she'll really miss it, as will I - one of my best memories from last year is my daughter standing at the side copying the dance moves and singing along and the lovely reactions she got from the princesses and princes.
Don't worry. It's not the parade going. It's just that they're replacing the show-stops, this year, with interactive ones. :)
I'm so excited... I never seen a parade from Disneyland... I want to see all cartoons to life... Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Mickey Mouse, etc. How i wish i could take many many pictures with them....
about the parade. i hope the management would add new shows and gimmicks to the parade so that the crowd will have so much fun watching.
On the DisneyLand Paris website it says The spectacular Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade will really get your toes tapping, but look out for a tap on the shoulder, or from the hand (or paw) of a famous Disney Character!
Does it mean that anyone can dance with the famous Disney Character or is it only kids under 12 years and under 7 years old.
I'm 24 years old young adult but I have special needs. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Oh I do hope so! I'm 36 and would love to dance!!! :D/
I saw a video online once I don't think it was from DLP though, where on the dreams of romance show stop, little boys and girls were taken from the crowd to dance the show stop with the princess and princes <3 actually the cutest thing I'd ever seen ! But yes they were all under 10 :'( so unfair, I'd love prince eric to grab me and we waltz in the parade :D hahahahhaa
Very boring this showstops for the people! This have been fairy parade with magical Disney characters in there worlds. Some other people in parade ruins all this fairy atmosphere! Parade is ruining.
They give it in 20th anniversary new parade - i am so unhappy :(
(sorry for my english)
Do they still do interactive show stops.
Where guests are encourage to take part through accessories, dance moves and other fantastic tricks.
We got back last night from our second trip to DLRP and I wanted to say that we had two vastly different experiences of the parade stops. On our first day we watched along at the very beginning where the parade starts and my daughter was invited to take part in the stop with the princesses. It was a bit messy but was fairly well controlled by the staff and the kids all seemed to love it, my daughter included. The next time we positioned ourselves to be close to the princess stop we were round by the castle and it turned into a total scrum with parents shoving their kids through the rows of people, kids were everywhere, parents were screaming at them to go beside a princess, staff were shouting at parents to get back onto the pavement, it was total chaos! My daughter had again been picked but I ended up going into the fray to get her out as she was clearly terrified, my mum was shoved from behind by a woman pushing her daughter in to this disaster zone. It was really horrible and quite scary for lots of the kids. I really hope the interactive stops are cancelled next year if not sooner, my kids loved it last year, in particular watching the princesses dancing with their princes but with the interactive stops it just seems very disjointed and not so magical.
YoYo - totaly agree! This showstops broken magic!
Does anyone know if they are stopping these stupid show stops for the Halloween Season?
Here's my comments on the Parade stops having seen them at last.
On Thursday last week I was near the start of the Parade and the show stop was well organised and enjoyable for everyone picture below.
On Friday I was in front of the castle and the experience could not have been more different! There was absolute mayhem! Disney staff rushed around trying to keep order but the tidal wave of determined parents was impossible to resist, I'm a big lad and I was pushed out of the way unceremoniously by some parents screaming at the tops of their voices to get their own way. The parade members were swamped and unable to do anything with the kids that were around them despite trying their best.
I have to admit that I did not like the concept of the interactive show stops and having witnessed the scenes last week I have not changed my mind in any way. How could anyone enjoy this? I felt sorry for the kids and the cast members who must hate this sort of "Interaction"

Thanks so much for reporting back what you experienced - we were there last month and I'm desperately hoping they stop these interactive stops for my trip next year to celebrate the anniversary. [-o< [-o< I think as well as providing some happiness for the children involved in the interactive stops; it could well make some kids upset that they weren't chosen!
The parents of kids in my second picture had no intention of not having their children chosen, they were straight in and the Parade staff were powerless to stop them! The irony is, that their kids looked bewilderd and confused, not really enjoyable for anyone!

Just back from DLRP and have'nt seen anyone post anything about the new lead float with Mickey, Minnie, Donald,Pluto,Goofy and Chip and Dale on it. As we all know the Once Upon a Dream float is being converted and I never knew that Disney would put a replacement in the parade. I will post a photo in the next day or two, but would be interested in the opinions of anyone who has seen it! To me it is an aberation and looks like something you would find lashed together for your local carnival, well below the poorest Disney Standards!!
I've seen pictures and videos of the new lead float, it was used in the old Christmas parade and the current tree lighting ceremony. I'm sure it's an old float with a long history. I don't like it in the OUAD parade, but I can understand it while the OUAD parade float is being converted. It's not a bad idea.
I've seen pictures and video of the float and I do agree it isn't the best but I think it is a better alternative then what they have done previously which is have the characters walk along the parade route. There wasn't a big turn around either from when the float was finished being used for the Xmas tree lighting ceremony and for the start of it's use for the Once Upon a Dream parade.
For those who have'nt seen it, and I had'nt here is a picture taken on Tuesday
(//http://i767.photobucket.com/albums/xx319/PeteHawke/P1020914.jpg)
And here's one taken Wednesday. What do you all think?

And this is it with Christmas decorations.
I don't think it's that bad, it's only temporary until March. It's better than cramming them all on the Main Street Fire Truck ;)
definately seems like a make shift idea but i suppose its better than those characters all walking around. I recognise it from the Tree Lighting Ceremony which i think a lot of regulars will.
