Title: never2old's Christmas trip (5-8 November) - Finished!
Post by: never2old on November 10, 2010, 11:37:40 AM
So I'm back!

Had a great time in Disneyland (full report and pictures coming soon...), wish I could still be there. I have to say, weather was particularly horrible (lots of rain, and Monday was terrible!! Very cold and very very wet) But even though the weather did get in the way sometimes (we couldn't explore Adventure Isle, for example), we still had a great time.

We were there with my sister in law, her husband and their two daughers (it was their first visit), and I think they had a great time!

I'm uploading some pictures from Friday's bonfire, so I'll start with that soon....

So here I go!

Originally, we were going to stay in Disneyland (in the Hotel New York) from Saturday to Monday; my sister in law and family would join us there. For their first visit to DLP they wanted to see Christmas! So we all booked for those dates; then when I saw they had the bonfire fireworks on the Monday night, I convinced by husband to stay one extra night, to finally see them (and make the most of our stay in Disneyland, since with the baby coming in a few months, we will not be going back for some time!) And then finally, a couple of weeks ago, we decided to drive there already on the Friday night, so that Saturday morning we could start with Buzz Lightyear instead of a 3 hour drive... So we booked a night in the Ibis in Val d'Europe.

Friday we left work a bit early and drove down to Paris, and made it to the Disney Village around 8pm... And since we were there, we decided to stay and see the show... Which worked out great, because as you may know, the weather on Monday was so bad that the fireworks were cancelled!

We got to the lake around 8:15, by then it was already quite busy, but we managed to find a decent spot by the Hotel New York. I knew that the view was better from the Sequoia, but it looked quite packed!

My dear hubby

We didn't have long to wait before the show started. First there was the part with Mickey, coming in a boat from the Newport Bay up towards the Hotel New York; the music was great, but to be honest, MIckey wasn't moving very fast, and for most of the time, all you could see was a little red thing in the distance... At the same time there were some flames  (the bonfire bit) coming from the lake, and Mickey seemed to be directing them... There was also a laser show, but the view from where we were was not the best... Still, it was enjoyable! There was also a very cool effect, with a couple of circles moving in and out of each other, it was very hypnotic, and looked great!!

That was followed by the fireworks show, which we enjoyed very much. The music was... different, I would say  ;)  but it went well with the fireworks. There were also  coloured flames coming out from the lake, also in rythm with the music. Overall, although it was not as magical as for example the Enchanted Fireworks (but the Castle makes for a much nicer background than the Newport Bay....), it was a fun show, and we were both glad we got to see it!

Here are some pictures, not great I confess, but they give you an idea... I also did a little bit of filming (about 3 minutes worth, really not much, but I didn't want to spend my time filming or taking pictures, I wanted to enjoy the show!!), I'll post that a bit later.

After the show, we left Disney Village and went to the Ibis for the night! The hotel by the way is not bad, the room was very comfortable, and the restaurant quite decent. Similar to any other Ibis, really.

To be continued soon!

Here's the quick video I made:

As I said, I didn't want to spend my time filming, so it's not very good... But at least it gives you an idea of what the fireworks were like, and the music.

Hi
Welcome home
Great trip report so far, can't wait to read the rest & see more photos.
We go on Sunday & staying in Hotel New York so looking forward to see what you thought of the hotel.
At the hotel did you have to say a time for breakfast? & is there still towels to use at the swimming pool?
I'm going to write a trip report each night we are there. So I can put it on here.

We love the HYN, this was our 4th stay this year! The rooms are quite big, the bar is probably the best in the resort, the service is great, and they have the best orange juice for breakfast  :D  This time they did ask us to choose breakfast times (but the hotel seemed quite busy, particularly on Saturday, with people from the press event), but it's not always like that. And they don't seem to be too fusy, on the last day we went for breakfast about 2 hours after our allocated time, and they didn't say anything...

I'm uploading the next set of pictures, so I hope to continue later tonight or tomorrow!

We love the hotel NY, too. Last week when we stayed there, they gave us a room on the second floor with a view of Lake Disney,  we hadn't asked for a lake side view so I was very pleased. Could of watched the fireworks from our room if we had wanted to. The hotel bar is very comfortable, my favourite. We spent a few evenings in there trying the cocktails. I got my souvenir blue glowing ice cube from my blue cocktail drink.  Breakfast was also very comfortable in the Manhattan Restaurant. I always went for the eggs, sausages and bacon etc etc. Thank you for your trip report. Interested to read your views of Bonfire night. I think your pictures of the fireworks have come out well, and your picture of mickey in the boat not blurred like mine.

Mmmm the glowtini cocktail! My favourite in the resort! I love the bar in HNY.

With a bit of a delay, here's the next chapter!

Saturday morning we got up early and a bit before 8am we were checking in into the Hotel New York, which was all ready for Christmas!

Room was not yet ready, so we left our bags, got our park tickets, and headed straight to Disneyland!

And there to welcome us home, the big Christmas tree! (and the beautiful Castle behind it!). Notice also the horrible grey skies... At least it wasn't raining (yet...   )

Home sweet home  :D

First stop City Hall!

We needed to book a few restaurants (including lunch on Sunday at Cafe Mickey  :D/ ), and I got my easy access card, which other than listing the (very very) few rides I could do being pregnant, would allow us to reduce the time spent in queues (at the end I only used it once in the three days!)

After that we headed straight into Discoveryland, for a few goes on Buzz... My hubby loves that ride (and once more he got the maximum score, he was quite pleased with himself. My score... not so good. I blame the pregnancy hormones  ;) ) I love it when you can walk pretty much straight into the ride, though, this is definitely the ride to do a few times in a row!

After that, we went to see the latest addition to Discoveryland:

I love these! When I first heard about them I thought they would stand out too much and feel out of place, but they really don't, and they're so well done! Really beautiful.

On our way to Frontierland and Phantom Manor (our next ride), we stopped by the Castle, to admire for the first time the new decorations by the stage there.

I thought they were really cute! The lights change colour (by night it looks really beautiful), and with the snow and the little trees... Very nice.

By now, the rain was starting... Just a few drops for now, but there they were. Enough to be annoying! So we continued towards Phantom Manor

We went pretty much straight in, I don't think I've ever been there with so few people, going into the portraits room there were maybe 20 of us! Spooky... And great ride, of course. I wish there few more rides like this in the park!!

By now it was close to 9:30, and Cris wanted to head to the Studios and have a go (if possible) in the new Toy Story Playland rides. But since I was feeling a bit hungry, we decided to stop in the Salon Mickey first, and we headed that way, via the Discovery Arcade to protect us from the incoming crowds and rain... And have a peak in the shops along the way!

Spiderman merchandise!

When we arrived to Salon Mickey a group of people were just leaving, and we ended up having the place to ourselves! We each took a chocolate chip cookie (yummy), and sat down to enjoy it. We both really like this place!

To be continued!

Great trip report so far! The video reminds me of when I went to the bonfire night in 2007 ( i think hehe)....the music was odd then too, although they did play a bit from pirates of the caribbean and the hunchback of notre dame which I loved!

The new decorations beside the stage look lovely, especially the little blue birds!

I am horrified to see spiderman merchandise in disneyland but at the same time not surprised now they own it but it just seems soooooooo wrong! :(

cant wait to hear more about your trip!!:)

I agree with Aveen on the Spiderman merchandise, we noticed it at Halloween and thought it looked really out of place :(
Looking forward to reading the rest of your report x

Love the report - we were in Salon Mickey as you arrived.  When we got there, for the same reason as you to get out of the rain hoping it would stop, at first there was no one else in so we had some time on our own but this did not last long.  From your picture you sat at the same table we did!

That was you!!    :D It's a small world after all  ;)  Yep, we got your table, I love it there, you have the window, and you get a nice view over the whole room... If it's free we always sit there  :)

I know about the Spiderman merchandise, it really feels completely out of place!! And it seemed to be everywhere!!

Loving your report. Can I be very nosy and ask whether you got your easy access pass due to pregnancy or do you have additional problems. Hope it's not cheeky asking but we go out next weekend and I am also pregnant, will be 17 weeks but still having problems with sickness and tiredness, so just wondered if this would be available to me if I was really struggling.
Read somewhere that pregnant ladies can not go on POTC. Just wondered if this was true!
Can't wait for the rest of your report. It's getting me in the christmas mood for our xmas trip

Yep, no POTC, and no dark rides either! POTC I don't really understand, but for the dark rides I have to say, I totally agree... I was waiting for everyone to come out of Pinocchio and I saw someone get hurt in the belly by the bar, when the wagon stopped very suddenly! I was not tempted after that... I think they're over cautious with the rides they don't recommend for pregnant women, but personally I didn't want to take any risks, we've been waiting for a really long time for this baby!!

You go to City Hall, with a medical certificate stating you're pregnant, and that's it! They'll give you a little pink slip, that lists the rides you can go on, and how many people can go with you (between 5 and 7 people depending on the ride, except for the parade, where only 1 was allowed to come with you to the reserved space). It's really worth getting! They'll also explain everything to you, they were really helpful with me. At the end I only needed to use it once, in IASW, where there was a bit of a queue, everywhere else was really quiet, but you never know! I was also feeling very tired and sick at the beginning; even now (I'm also 18 weeks) I get quite tired, I really felt it in the parks! I don't have any particular problems (other than tiredness and some stretching pains every now and then) Even if you feel OK ask for it, you never know, if anything you'll have the list of rides they recommend you do, and if the parks are busy, it can save you some waiting time!!

Oh, and congratulations on the happy news!!!  :D

Looking forward to the next installments :D

And once again congratulations and to you too lorrig :)

You know, I want to go now too!! And knowing that I won't be going for a long long time (even though it's for a great cause!) makes it even worse!!

And without any further delays, here's the next chapter!

After our break in Salon Mickey, it was time for the Studios!

Little surprise when we got there, the main gate was open! First time Isee it like this!! I think it was for the VIPs only (there was a guard asking for IDs), so we didn't even try... Still, nice to see something different... (my husband thought I was a total geek, getting so excited about an open gate   )

The Front Lot was decorated for Christmas... though nothing very exciting, same decorations as last year in the lamp posts, some snow and toys around the car outside the main shop... Not much, really. Whatever happened to the Santa costume they had for Mickey in the fountain??

In fact all the Christmas decorations in the Studios seemed the same as last years (except for some lights hanging in the Hollywood Boulevard, I'm not sure I took a picture of those, but I don't remember them from last year!)

First stop, Toy Story Playland!!

I was really looking forward to seeing the new addition, and I have to say, I loved it!!! The theming is great, the area is so colourful, and green, and just pretty!! Even with the grey skies and the rain, it looked good! I can't comment on the rides themselves since I didn't do any of them, but the area itself looks really good, I think the Studios really needed something like this!

Loved it.

The wait times in the TSPL were not bad (the parachutes were closed, the others had about 15 minutes wait), but Cris didn't want to do either by himself, so we simply had a good look around the area.

Continues soon!

Thanks for the update. Your pictures are great as always.

I have to say that I don't like to see spiderman merchandise in DLP. I don't have a problem if disney qould offer it in DV and WDS, but not in DISNEYland park.

How many cookies did you get in Salon Mickey, because in February they offered only prepacked cookies and for each person just one. Someone told me that people stopped in Salon Mickey and filled their backpacks with free drinks and cookis. Some people are so rude, so I think that is a good way that everyone gets something.

We had 1 cookie each, we didn't try to get more so I don't know if they would have stopped us... Though I think it makes sense not to allow people to over do it and fill their bags with free food and drinks, that's not the point of the place! Some people are just greedy...

We saw people filling their bags when we went in October.  There was me and Dylan with one cookie and drink as it should be and this group of about 5 people were filling their bags with cookies, croissants, orange juice and water!! Is there really any need for it! Just plain greed

I've been to Salon Mickey about a dozen times now, and no-one has been filling their backpacks - in fact you couldn't anyway, because the trays with the pastries and cookies on them were on the CM's desk, right under their nose! You are invited to take one or 2 items from the tray each, and then help yourself to a hot or cold drink from the drinks machine and fridge in the seating area itself.

I agree with Kelly though, theres no need for it at all, Salon Mickey is a shareholders perk, not a right, and its not exactly in keeping with the refined atmosphere of the lounge to be clearing the place out of everything in it!

Brilliant photos never2old, loving all the details, and your OH looks like he's having a rare old time  :D !

I've never seen people like that, thank God, because I think it would really ruin the Salon Mickey for me... I would get so annoyed!!

Thanks Elaine! And yes, my hubby always complains about going to Disneyland... But once we're there he always has a great time!! He really is a kid... (we both are    ;) )

Here's the next part of the report!

After exploring TSPL, we had a little go at the Monsters Scream Academy location (first time we're there and there's not a crowd of kids around!) And Cris can be a real kid sometimes  ;)

We also had a look at the rest of the Christmas decorations, which were... Well, rather sad if I'm honest!

Sad, really...

Queues overall were OK (other than Crush, everything else had between 5 and 20 minutes), but Cris didn't want to go by himself on any of the rides we usually do (as many times as possible), like RnRC or TOT. So instead we decided to go for a break in Starbucks (no visit to DLP is complete without a stop in Starbucks!); my sister in law Alice and her family were coming around 1pm, and we wanted to be near the hotel to meet them there, so it was good timing... Plus we had a bit of time for shopping!

In the Studios store:

Christmas section:

And more Spiderman merchandise, this time in the Disney Village (Hollywood Pictures shop)

We had our coffee (and a little sandwhich, I confess that being pregnant I do get hungry all the time!!), did a bit of browsing in the shops, and before I had time to buy anything we had a call from Alice, they had arrived (about half an hour early, so all good!), and we went to meet them at the hotel

I just loved this with all the leaves!!

We hadn't seem them in almost a year, and the girls had grown up so much!! Particularly the little one (she's now 2 and a half years old), so we were really happy to see them again.

They checked in, and I took the opportunity to ask if our room was ready, which it was! In no time we got our key and asked them to send the bags to the room; we didn't actually go and see it (the girls were impatient to get to the park, and so were the grown ups!!), though I was quite curious to see our room... We had been given one in the 7th floor!!

Anyway, our group finally complete, we went back towards the park. By now it was really raining (so the camera stayed a lot more in my pocket  :( ), but at least it wasn't too cold, so no one cared too much about the weather...

We had a bit of time before lunch (I had booked it in the Agrabah Cafe for 2pm), so first stop, Fantasyland!

Quick stop in the Chaumiere des Sept Nains (one of my favourite shops, so many little details!!)

Have you seen the new Rapunzel costume? I think it's one of my favourites!

Finally time for a ride for everyone, the Carousel! Plus no queue whatsoever, we went straight in!

My two nieces:

Me!

Alice, my sister in law:

I don't go often on the Carousel (my husband doesn't like it much, so if it's just the two of us we usually give it a miss), sure it's not a very exciting ride but I'm always happy to do it, it's one of the rides where I really feel like a child again!!

Anyway, after the Carousel and a little walk around Fantasyland, it was time to eat... So straight to Agrabah Cafe!!

I always say this and I'll say it again, this has got to be one of the best restaurants in the whole resort!!! The food was again delicious: the hummus!! hmmmmmm and the lentil salad, and the chickpeas, and the couscous, and the fish... everything was really good!! We all over did it of course, and came out way too stuffed!! But worth it... So worth it!!

And when we came out, we were actually surprised to see that it was still raining (a lot), and that it was cold... It's so nice and warm and cosy inside the Cafe, you forget what it's like outside!!

It's funny reading this with you having been there the same time as us - we were there from Sunday until yesterday, just on the train now heading home from London  :(
The weather got worse after Monday if you can believe it, Thursday in particular was horrific with such bad rain that we just gave up and left the park for most of the afternoon lol.
We loved Salon Mickey too - took the water we didnt finish away in our bags, hope nobody will think badly of us  :-"
I'm going to write a full trip report once I'm home, really enjoying reading yours just now. Your photos are much better than ours, most of ours are just silly - I always forget to take scenery photos once I'm there!
Glad you managed to get on a few rides and that Disney were so helpful about your pregnancy, and also that you saw the fireworks on Friday. We saw them on Tuesday, when the weather calmed down enough for them to go ahead.

Looking forward to your trip report!!   :D

The weather got even worse?!?!    Monday it was terrible, I think that was the worst weather I've ever had there...

Oh, and I always take my water bottle from Salon Mickey with me if I haven't finished it, they would just throw it away otherwise!  :)

Yup Thursday afternoon was even worse than Monday, plus there were mega queues everywhere with the French holiday
Monday afternoon my mum went back to the hotel for a bit and my sister and I kicked about in the rain, we went over to Santa's Village and everything was deserted! Just one other family visiting Santa, so we got a quick photo, the CMs down there seemed pleased to see us lol. We certainly didn't let the weather get us down

Oh dear, on top of everything else there was a public holiday! At least when we were there (particularly Sunday to Monday, Saturday it was a bit busier), there was no queues at all, it helped with the weather!!

When we went to visit Santa it was practically the same, there was one family before us, and that was it!!

Oh, the salads... I could eat there every day I think!!

I only took one picture, once I saw the food all I wanted was to eat... Greedy me  ;)  I meant to take more pictures of the food this time, but once I started eating, I forgot about that...

So here it is, just for you! Sorry it's not a great picture, though...

Loving this trip report, loads of photo's, loads of detail and a great taster for whats in store when I visit in a week, thanks.

ps with the rest of you on the Spiderman gear, I grew up on Marvel (Dare I say here it was my first love before I knew Disney) but that is not the place for it, in DV maybe but not everywhere.

And here's the next chapter!

After a delicious (and huge) lunch at Agrabah Cafe, we decided to have a go at IASW Celebration- I was really looking forward to doing this again, normally it's one of my favourite rides, and I really loved the Christmas overlay last year. I wish they did this with more rides and other seasons (I still pray to get the Nigthmare Before Christmas overlay in Phantom Manor!), for people who visit frequently, it's really nice to have something a bit different!

Anyway... On our way we saw they had prepared a little meet 'n' greet point with Mickey, in the little elevated area behind the seats by the Castle stage... for VIPs only. My nieces hadn't seen Mickey yet so we stayed a bit while they waved, but no one was allowed to go up and see him...  When we were leaving we did see someone coming up and meeting Mickey follwed by a camera crew, but don't ask me who she was... I live in Luxembourg but my knowledge of French famous people is VERY limited!!

Just outside IASW (where there was quite a bit of a queue, by the way), we saw Suzie and Perla, heading towards Fantasia Gelati (yep, it was still raining... everyone was trying to find cover!!) They were practically alone so we went to meet them!

It was finally time for IASW...

As I said there was a bit of a queue (I think they were adverting 30 minutes), so I decided to try my easy access card! We headed straight for the exit, where there were a few people already waiting. And they were a few benches (totally soaked with the rain, but placing the coat right I could at least sit at the edge...) We waited maybe 10 minutes to do the ride, not too bad. The main problem was that every few minutes a VIP would arrive, accompanied by a CM, and they got a place in a boat straight away! I didn't care too much because at least I was sitting down, and our queue was still a lot shorter than the main one! And since we were still rested from the restaurant, even the girls didn't mind too much the wait.

You can even see the falling rain...

And out again!

I think it was even better than last years!! Really beautiful, very magical. Everyone really enjoyed that (particularly Maisie, my little niece, this was by far her favourite ride!!)

When we came out, the rain was constant, and the park seemed to be busier (Fantasyland looked quite crowded!) We had decided to avoid the park during the press events, fearing big crowds (never pleasant but even worse with the rain, and not much fun for kids!) So instead we went towards the Studios.

And dry again inside Studio 1!

After a quick look around, we headed straight to Animagique. Nice and dry in there... And still a great show. Donald particularly seemed in great form!

Meeting Sully!

We then decided to do the Flying Carpets... Of course, it turned out to be a pretty bad idea, seeing it was raining quite a bit!! But it was a ride for everyone, and there was no queue at all... I didn't particularly fancy the carpets so instead I headed to the platform from which you can take pictures...

I really like the lighting here, it really makes the ride look quite beautiful!!

When they came out, we were all starting to be really tired of the rain... Crush of course had a queue, and all the other rides that everyone could do were outside, under the rain!! Which probably explained the lack of queues everywhere... I would have liked to go to TSPL and see it by night, but with the rain it wasn't that tempting, plus I was feeling rather tired... And going back to DLP, with all the VIPs, didn't seem like a good idea (though if I had known that Rafa Nadal was out and about, I could have forced myself!!) Of course that meant that we also didn't see the beautiful show with Rapunzel

So since we were going to have a full day the next day, and we were all cold and wet, we decided to head back to the hotel, and have dinner earlier (we had booked in the Steakhouse in DV for 9pm, but we managed to change it to 8).

Since we had gotten our keys earlier we could head straight into the room; as I mentioned earlier, we had been given one in the 7th floor (in the middle bit of the hotel): 7220

Our bags were there waiting for us, but the best surprise was behind the curtains: gorgeous lake view!!

Well, in theory at least  :P  On a very dark night, with endless rain, maybe not so gorgeous...  Still, much much better than a parking view, and a really pleasant surprise!! This was definitely the best room we've had in the HNY.

We had time to have a rest, and I confess, after a nice hot shower and after lying down in the bed for a bit, getting out to go for dinner was really hard.... My bag was totally soaked (on the outside at least), I emptied it and left it to dry on a chair (this was the first time I noticed that there aren't any radiators in the room!!!) My coat was also dry on the inside (extremely wet on the outside), but it felt so cold when I put it on  :(  Usually I'm totally against umbrellas in Disney, they can be a pain when it's crowded, and you don't have free hands to take lots of pictures, but with a weather like this, I decided to take my umbrella with me the next day!

At least it's not far from the hotel to the Steakhouse, and once there we had a delicious dinner! Service was a bit slow, which since we were tired (my sister in law and family had been up since 4 am, to drive down to Paris from the UK!!) was a bit annoying. But the food was wonderful! I had the kobe burger, really heavenly!!

Finally, it was bedtime! So we set our alarm for 6:45 (breakfast at 7!), and collapsed for the night...

Next update coming soon!!

Yep, about 20 weeks now :) I did feel it, I have more energy than during the first trimester, but still... I was really exhausted by the end of the day!

We noticed there were no radiators in HNY after getting wet! In a way I am glad I booked the Cheyenne for our Christmas trip as they have heaters in the room and I'm sure we are going to get wet at some point during our trip :(

Really good trip report and plenty of photos too. I head out in 3 weeks for what will be my 2 sons first ever visit to Disneyland, staying in Newport Bay for 6 nights. Cant wait to show them the Christmas magic and see their faces when the meet the characters. Just hope the weather stays dry or snows, I would prefer snow to rain.

Thanks for the update.
Disney is really bad when it is raining. We bought the Disney raincoats, but they were of such a bad quality so that we took also an umbrella with us. I think it's more convinient to use an umbrella instead of Disney raincoats.

At least most of the rides and queues in DLP are protected from the rain... It's getting from one place to another than can be a problem!!

Anyway, here's part 1 for Sunday!!

The alarm went off a 6:45... on a Sunday, that hurts. When you're getting up early to enjoy EMH, not so much...  ;)

And best of it all, no rain!! (no much light either... here's the view from our room at 6:50)

It was 7 on the dot when we got down for breakfast, and great surprise, so were the others!! We were really impressed, we've been in DLP with people with children before, and no one was ever on time... Particularly so early in the morning! But there they were, all awake and ready! I'll have to ask Alice how she does it...

We were practically alone for breakfast, in the Parkside Diner. As usual, it was wonderful: eggs, sausages, bacon, bread, fruit, cereals, pastries... Heaven. If only their coffee was a bit better....

After breakfast, the view from the room, at 7:50:

As you can see, although it was dry, it wasn't particularly sunny... Rather grey, and foggy, and very humid...

When we went back downstairs to meet everyone, ready to go to the park at 8am, we saw Pluto was at the photo location, all by himself!! So we had to stay and say hello...

And shortly after that, we were back in DLP!! Destination this morning: Peter Pan!

Since I couldn't really go on it, I told them to go ahead, so that I could take my time looking at the Christmas decorations... And take some pictures without rain! And without someone next to me impatiently looking at his watch and saying he wants to do Buzz...    I only spent a few minutes, but they were wonderful, really. Park was quiet, and I could really take my time to see every window and admire every detail, it was so beautiful!! And I really liked the windows displays this year, with the lights and all, they feel really warm, and colourful!

I had just made it to the Castle, when it started to rain...

I thought I had taken my time, but when I got to Peter Pan, they had just gone in!! I knew that they also wanted to do Dumbo, so I waited for them there.

However by the time they came out, it was raining quite a bit... After the previous night's experience on the Flying Carpets, Dumbo didn't sound too good... So it was time for the Teacups instead!

Cris went in with his sister and nieces, and Gavin and I stayed out (well, Gavin went first to buy some raincoats for the girls...)

Maybe I'm the only one, but in my opinion the snowballs with the Santa Clause hat on top and the Disney statues inside looks really ugly.

Nevertheless another great update. It's always a pleasure to read your report!!

The others were already gone when I did that one, otherwise I would have liked to try to do a group picture with all of us in the reflection, it could have looked really good!!

And if you get blue skies, it looks even better... I took these last year (and I think I already got the idea from someone else...)

Next update!

So, little reminder, it's our second day in the parcs, Sunday, and we're in DLP during the EMH... And we just left the teacups, under the rain...

Belle's Christmas Village.. We'll be coming here later (it opens after 10)

To keep with our traditions, the one ride we never miss during EMH is Buzz... So Fantasyland done, we headed towards Discoveryland.

Of course we'd been on Buzz the day before, but the others hadn't... Plus we'd been going on about how much fun it is, so they were all quite excited about it!

It was fairly quiet, so we could do the ride several times in a row. Heaven.

After a few goes, Cris and Gavin decided to try Space Mountain (5 minutes wait there too), so they went by themselves while we the ladies had a last go on Buzz. And this time not only did I get a great gun (which was not always the case, really... maintenance could be a bit better...), but we also stopped right when I was in front of Zurg... So I managed to hit the hidden target there a couple of times. The result? My best score yet  :D

OK, it's not 999,999 (which my husband got yet again, by the way... it's a daily thing with him now   ), but still, I was pretty proud of myself!!

By now it was after 10, the whole park was open, and it was time to explore Frontierland!

Smoke!!

I think Frontierland looks best in autumn... (shame about the grey skies and the rain, though....)

First, we went towards BTM. My eldest niece had been a bit dissapointed at not being able to do Space Mountain (she was a little too short), so we thought BTM would cheer her up... Plus it's the most fun rollercoaster there is!

Our idea was to get fastpasses, but when we got there, the waiting time was 10 minutes!! So instead, they all went in, and I stayed out with Maisie (my little niece). While we waited for them, I had a chilli sandwich... Hot and delicious!

The others were soon out, big smiles on their faces (I was a little bit jealous... I love that ride!!), except maybe for Layla, my niece, who had thought it was a bit scary... Well, the bit in the tunnels anyway...

Next: Phantom Manor!

Again, no queue at all, and as soon as we got to the door, we were all let in  :D

Excellent ride, and everyone really enjoyed it! I don't think I'll ever get tired of this ride...

By now the rain had completely stopped  :D/  so we took some time to visit Boot Hill.

Fixed at last!

Continues soon!

Yes, Frontierland (well, at least the Thunder Mesa bit) is my favourite area in the park, the theming is great, and around Phantom Manor it's simply perfect.

Next update!

Our plan was to do the Winter Wonderland show at 12:00; it was not on on Monday, and with lunch booked in Cafe Mickey, and the parades later that afternoon, 12:00 was really our only choice.

When we came out of Phantom Manor, it was 11:15... Or so we thought  :(  (yep, you can see where this is going...) According to the iPhone app, the queue at POTC was only 5 minutes, so we thought, if we hurriedy a bit, we could do it before going to the Chaparral Theatre. So off to Adventureland we went.

Since Pirates is not recommended for pregnant women, I stayed out taking some pictures (although weather wasn't great, it was dry but very grey and dull) and doing some shopping, while the others all went in.

I was getting a nice Nightmare Before Christmas watch for my little brother (big Jack fan) in the shop when I looked at my watch again... And it was still 11:15    With a horrible feeling in my stomach, I checked the time on my phone... 11:50      My ****** watch was stopped. I felt terrible!! By the time the others come out of the ride, there was no way we could make it to the show on time. Maybe the hormones didn't help, but I was on the edge of tears    The others didn't mind too much (they didn't know the show anyway, and everyone was really enjoying all the rides), but I still felt like I let everyone down (including myself, I wanted to see the show again!!) By now my husband was almost laughing at me, when he had come out of POTC and had seen my face, he thought something terrible had happened

So feeling terrible (me) and feeling just fine (everyone else), we decided to go towards Fantasyland. We knew Pinocchio and Snow White would both be closed on Monday, and since neither of them had any significant queues (about 5-10 minutes each), we went for it. Again I stayed out taking some pictures (dark rides are also not good for pregnant women).

First, Pinocchio. I wanted to have a look at clothes for the baby, so I waited for them in the Bottega di Geppeto;  we don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet, and most of the baby clothes were either blue or pink (a bit dissapointed, they used to have a collection in white cotton for newborns, with Bambi, that wasn't there anymore  :( ), so I got some Winnie the Pooh pyjamas (orange was the most neutral thing they had!). And for the first time I had a good look around the shop, it's full of little wood toys, beautiful!

And then, Snow White.

While I waited I went to the back of the Castle, where it overlooks the Castle stage; I could see Rapunzel and Flynn there, but I didn't really have enough time to get any closer. I thought we would have time later on to see them... (which by the way, we didn't....)

This was the light we had a 12:30... It looks like early evening...

We still had some time before lunch, so we decided to try Le Pays des Contes de Fees; and of course, to get there, you need to go to Belle's Village... Many of the shops were closed, and it was looking fairly quiet, but still, very Christmassy, and very pretty. I really like this!

Notice the rose in the sign?

Really cute little village. And if you can visit it when it's dark...  It's really beautiful, with all the lights. If only we could have something this pretty in WDS....

Once we got to Le Pays de Contes de Fees, Cris and Gavin decided they preferred something a bit faster; they checked the waiting times in Indiana Jones (5 minutes, thank you iPhone app), so we agreed to meet a bit later by the Castle to go to lunch, and we ladies stayed to do the Contes de Fees. And just before we sat in the boat, it started to rain... Not much, but still!!

To be honest, I think the ride would be better if it was a just a little bit slower... Some of the scenes are really beautiful and detailed, and you don't get enough time to admire them!!

Next: lunch at Cafe Mickey!

I'm very sorry for you, because of the show.

Since you are pregnant, which attractions could you ride? You have written that PotC and some dark rides and of course all the thrill rides were not suitable for you. What's the reason why you couldn't go on dark rides? Because the lap bars could hurt your baby in case of an emergency stop?
At least DLP offers so many details to discover while waiting for the others.

Can't wait for your Cafe Mickey pics. We love this restaurant, because of the pizzas.

Ah, the list of rides is quite limited! Here's the official one, printed in the little pink slip I got in City Hall:

In Disneyland:

Phantom manor
Thunder Mesa River Boat
Alice's Curious Labyrinth
Le Carousel de Lancelot
Le pays des contes de fées
It's a Small World
Buzz Lightyear
Captain EO
Les mystères du Nautilus
Disneyland railroad

And in the Studios:

Stunt show
Cinémagique
Stitch live
Animagique
Art of animation

For the dark rides, I've been told it's because of the lap bars (and because they can stop a bit violently), and Peter Pan also in case of evacuation of the ride.

I did miss not being able to do some of my favourite rides, like POTC, Peter Pan or BTM, but that was only because I really love them and can't get enough of them... But overall, as you say, there are so many little details everywhere, that I was really quite happy to have the time to explore!

Lunchtime!

We had booked for 13:30, and we got to Cafe Mickey right on time!

Unfortunately by now all the excitement had got to Maisie, my little niece, and by the time we got to the restaurant, she was fast asleep!! So all we could do is hope she would wake up on time, and get her autograph book signed by everyone...

Her sister though was fully awake, and delighted when the Mouse himself came to our table soon after we sat down...

Lunch was brilliant. And delicious! I had a pizza with italian chicken, sundried tomatoes and onions (but I was so hungry that I didn't even take a picture... really sorry now, because it was gorgeous!!! And I ate it all  :D )

And we saw plenty of characters: Chip and Dale, Minnie, Daisy, Pluto... My niece was really happy!! Disney magic at its best, really. It's just great how all the characters interact with the children (and grown ups too), they're really brilliant.

Towards the end of lunch all the birthdays celebrations started... After 5 of them we stopped counting, but it was one after another after another!!

By the time Maisie was fully awake though, it was around 15h, and all the characters were gone  :(   I think her parents were a lot more upset than she was (probably she didn't quite realise what she'd miss), so we decided to book another character meal for Monday (at the Lucky Nugget this time, for a change).

After that everyone was happy!

By the time we finished lunch and got moving again (all feeling rather stuffed...) it was almost 4pm. So we slowly made our way to the park, and up Main Street, stopping in quite a few shops along the way... I wanted to get a spot for the parade (at 5pm) soon, but the park was so quiet that it was not a problem!! I was very surprised, I was really expecting it to be a lot busier on a Sunday, start of Christmas, than it actually was.

We ended up getting a spot around 4:45, in the benches by the Castle stage

Continues soon!

Looks like you had lots of fun in Cafe Mickey :) We make sure we book at least one meal there on our trips!
Cant wait for the next part! We are going for our first christmas soon and your photos are making me really excited!

Wow!

I have to say, that this trip report is the best one i have ever seen in here
The pictures and the way you describe your trip is just so wonderful.
I was at the park at the same time as you, from the 7th to 11th of november!
I was down there to cellebrate my 30th birthday!
And I must just say, if you think the weather was bad then...Thursday the 11th was the worrst I have ever seen!
On top of it all, it was a public holliday. The park was as full as in the busiest sumerdays.
But all in all it was a amacing trip, I love Disneyland so the trip was nice nomather how bad the weather was ;)
I live in Norway, and I have been in Disney four times since May, I newer get tired of it!

So I cant wait you to go on with your next chapter!
It feels just like beeing there, when you are writing :D

Thank you, that's really nice from you!! I'm really touched by your comments  :)  And happy belated birthday Ole Vidar  :D  DLP is the best place to celebrate a birthday! (I celebrated in DLP my 32nd birthday in June... and my 30th two years ago!)

And here's the next update!

So it's Sunday, almost 5, and the weather was as dry as it could get! Perfect timing for the parade  :D

And it was not that cold!

This is the first time I've noticed that they only put the lights in the front side of the Castle (none at the back). Has it always been like that??

She was pointing at my ears (yep, as soon as it stops raining, my Minnie ears are on!!)  :P
(//http://images52.fotki.com/v643/photos/8/1582018/9232825/IMG_1127-vi.jpg)

Now we were expecting the parade to come down from Fantasyland (and everyone around us did, we were all sitting facing that way!), but noooo.... It was coming up from Main Street! We realised (well, I realised, I was the expert in our group of course) that it was coming the other way around with the announcements, you could hear the "Ladies and Gentlement, Boys and Girls, In 5 Minutes...." coming up our way from Main Street towards IASW, so we were amongst the first to turn around and face the correct way. But for a few minutes, there were some people facing one way, some people facing the other, and lots of confused looks around

Anyway, on with the show... I have to say, pictures are not great, but at 5pm the light is not great... I still don't see why they can't do the parade at 4pm during the winter months!

I quite like this one... Looks like they're flying!

It was really quiet, not many people around, and a lot of the characters waved at us (and particularly at my nieces). And they (almost always) waved back...

Except for Peter Pan. He tried for quite some time to get Maisie's attention, waving at her and making faces, but she kept looking elsewhere... Even when her dad and I tried to get her to look at Peter Pan, she wasn't interested, she was looking at the next float, it was really funny!! Poor Peter though....

And the Christmas parade! Chante C'est Noel starts playing... And for the first time today, it really feels like Christmas!!

My favourite bit, the soldiers... I just love the noise they make when they walk, plus they look great!

Extremely blurred elves...

With a bit of imagination, you can spot the elf with the learners L in the back...

And to finish, Santa!

Now tonight we had a tight schedule. At 5pm, the parade. At 6pm, the tree lighting. At 6:30, the Showtime Spectacular and the Castle lighting. And at 7pm, Fantillusion!

So after the parade, time to move towards Town Square! Plus by now it was getting really dark, and the Castle was looking gorgeous!

Thanks for another great update!

If I'm not mistaken the castle was always illuminated just on one side. In 2007, 2008 and in February there were no lights on the back.

Great trip report!! I love seeing all your pics!! Especially the ones of the area outside of Phantom Manor with all the pink/red trees! Frontierland looks great in the autumn! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I love the little shop just by Pinnochio's ride for all the baby bits =)
Can't wait for the next update! x

Just checked back to see what was going on in this report and man you have made some great updates since I visited last time!

Your photos are (as always) very, very good and make me even more excited for my upcoming trip. As Ole says you describe the excitement very good and I feel like I am there with you guys.

It must be very annoying (perhaps not the best word) not to be able to ride one's favourite rides, but remember the cause ;) My sister has just given birth to her first child and even becoming an uncle was an amazing experience, so I am sure you are entering a time even more magical than Disney :D

Thank you all :)

@ forza_united Overall it was OK, not doing the rides, although for some I did feel rather envious... POTC and BTM were hard because I love them so much, and on Monday they all did the Parachutes in TSPL and since that's the one ride I'm more curious about, I was also a bit jealous... But overall, I didn't mind too much. It's all for a good cause, and all the rides will be there waiting for me on our next visit!!  :D  And congrats on becoming an uncle Nicolai!!!

And apologies all for the delay in the updates, things are quite busy lately at work and by the time I get home I'm exhausted... But I finally got some time so I'll try to make the most of it!

Here's the next part for Sunday night, starting with the Christmas tree lighting!

Now I had seen this ceremony for the first time last year; only that time it was pouring with rain and freezing cold, we were all packed under the cover on the Emporium and the view was not great... This time, although I did have some people in front of me, we were right in front of the tree, there was no rain (though it was cold), and it was great!!

The pictures are not very good (it was dark, everyone kept moving, and I was concentrating more on seeing the show than taking pictures...)

This was my favourite moment... When it started to snow!! It was really magical, with all the Christmas lights, the music... I was not the only one without dry eyes!!

Everyone really enjoyed the show!

It was then time to move up Main Street towards the stage, for the Showtime Spectacular.

I really like this show, I will miss it once the NGF is over. And I quite enjoyed it by night, with the lights on the Castle and all, it made it even more spectacular!

Towards the end of the usual show, Mickey comes out with a new costume (though that jacket looks strangely familiar...) and they do the Castle lighting show. To be honest, it doesn't quite fit with the show, but leaving that aside, the lighting of the Castle itself is as gorgeous as ever - and at the end when Tinkerbell does her bit with the fairy dust... Really magical.

After the Castle is lit they have the Christmas bit of the show, which is not bad, and fits nicely with the rest of the show.

And to finish the night, Fantillusion  :D  I confess, I cannot look at the pictures without starting to hum the Fantillusion music... One of my favourite parades ever!

Snow White's float stopped right in front of us. Their balcony went up, it almost looked like they were dancing in the stars, very romantic!!

(Have you noticed the Mickey in his belt?)

We had booked for dinner in the Parkside Diner, but we weren't too hungry (not surprising after our huge lunch in Cafe Mickey), so we went instead for a quick sandwich in the hotel bar, and by 10:30 we were all back in our rooms, ready for bed!

Last day coming soon!

Thanks for the pictures. Great update as always.

It's amazing how detailed DLP is. You just have to look at the Main Street Ststion clock. At the moment I'm reading "Disney War" again and I've just read the chapter about Michael Eisner and Tony Baxter deciding that DLP has to be the most beautiful park. Thanks to them!!

Your photos are so great! I'm glad your family had such a great time, and that you enjoyed it so much even though you couldn't go on your favourite rides.
Looking forward to more  :D/

Thank you all  :D

Before I continue with my TR (finally got round to uploading all the remaining pictures!!), bit of news on our little baby... It's a little girl  :minnie:  A little princess  :D We're very very very happy  :D

And I continue with the report!

Monday 8th November, our last day in the parks! We had breakfast again at 7am; my sister in law and family were leaving later that day so they had to pack their bags and check-out, and at the end we made it to the park a bit after 8:30. And the best part was, it was not raining! Even more, there were bits of blue sky in between the clouds!!!  :D/  Incredible. Was this going to be a good day weather-wise???

The park was very quiet this morning, and we spent some time taking pictures around Town Square

While everyone went ahead towards Fantasyland (they were starting with Peter Pan), I again stayed behind to take more pictures and absorb all the magical Christmas atmosphere... Again one of my favourite bits of the trip, just taking the time to admire the park and the decorations, without someone rushing me to get to a ride, and without having to wait for the crowds to move out of the picture....

Group picture... kind of  ;)  You can see me taking the picture and the others leaving, I didn't think until it was too late to get everyone to pose for a picture with the reflection. Next time!!

In the meantime the others were heading into Dumbo, which they hadn't been able to do the day before with the rain, so they wanted to get that done while they could... I found them there.

Cris is not too keen on Dumbo, so he stayed outside with me

First congratulations to your little girl!!

Thanks for another great update. Your pictures, especially the illuminated castle, are wonderful, as always.

This huge snow globe and the ugly arch in front of Bixby Brothers look so out of place on Main Street.

I didn't like that arch thing either... But it looked even worse outside the shop in Frontierland...  (I didn't even take a picture of that!)

Once again your pictures are top quality and I must say that your trip report more than a lot of other things makes me ready for my soon-to-come trip :D

Thanks  :D

Personally I can't wait for your trip report, Nicolai!!! Your pictures are always amazing!!

Here's another update! Sorry a rather short one, but I don't have much time today, I'll aim for a longer one next time!

After doing Dumbo, they all headed towards Peter Pan. It was still very quiet and they walked straight in, so I didn't have to wait too long for them outside, in the cold, under the (still light) rain...   Though I still had time to take some pictures...

We then went towards the Castle; we hadn't visited the gallery yet, and personally I love going there during EMH, when it's quiet and you can really take your time to visit it properly.

Cris and Gavin were quite keen on getting Crush done, so we figured we should get to the Studios soon, to be there for the park opening (at 10:00). So we started making our way down to the exit. On the way however we saw Winnie, and almost no one queuing... An opportunity we couldn't miss!

Group picture!

We made it into WDS around 9:45; we went straight for Crush Coaster, where they were already letting people in; the waiting time was 10 minutes, so they all went in while I stayed out with little Maisie.

There's not much to do while you wait around there, so after seeing the Cars ride for a bit (she liked it so I told her we could do that once they all came out), we went and waited for the others to come out in their turtle...

We saw them and waved at them (they didnt see us though), and of course completely missed the picture....

When they came out (bit smiles all around except for my niece, she didn't enjoy it too much...) it was time for Cars. Again Cris is not a big fan (plus the ride is not designed for people with long legs in mind...) so he stayed out with me while the others went straight in (love it when there are no queues!)

The girls loved it, and I think the parents were both surprised, the ride is quite fast, and a lot of fun!

By now it was 10:20. Next stop: Toy Story Playland!

Great trip report I'm really enjoying it. I promise to do a good one for you after my first trip in Feb even if it does state the obvious to people who have made lots of visits.

Congrats on the pink bump xxxx.

thank you so much for this great trip report! I love looking at your beautiful pictures and reading about your experiences!

and congratulations on the great news! I am so happy for you both that your longtime dream is finally coming true!
I personally can't wait until we will visit dlp with our children (or at least two of four) for the first time! I am sure that seeing those shiny faces will top it all and experiencing dlp through the eyes of our kids will be wonderful!

So, finally.... Here I go!

Quick summary, this was Monday, our last day in the parks    but still a good few hours ahead of us  :)  We were in WDS, and after everyone (except my little niece and myself) had a go on Crush Coaster (just after park opening so the queues were not too bad), we headed to Toy Story Playland!

It was about 10:30, and the queues were not too bad. First stop, the Parachutes! Waiting time was advertised as 20 minutes.

My and my bump couldn't ride this, but I wanted to see the queue line, so I went in with everyone. This was the one ride I was most looking forward to. Not just the ride itself, but also all the details, after seeing for months all the concept art work... And it did not disappoint me! I really loved all the green soldiers everywhere!!

Even my little niece was enjoying it...

20 minutes after joining the queue, it was our turn... Definitely the biggest problem of this ride is the loading time, it took forever!!

Maisie was just big enough to ride. she was delighted!

Finally, up the went!

And down... As you can see, my little niece was loving it, I'd never seen her laugh so much!

I did feel quite jealous, not being able to ride... But it's all for a good cause, I'll just have to wait a few more months!! And my hubby was kind enough to take some pictures from the top for me...

It turns out they were quite lucky to ride the Parachutes at all... By now it was raining quite a bit, and as soon as they came down, they shut the ride down because of the weather!! Imagine being next... I would have been sooo upset!!!

With the rain no one particularly fancied doing RC Racer or Slinky (and they both had more serious queues by now), so instead we all went to the Studio Tram Tour, where we only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated in a tram.

Wonder if this ride will be updated some day so that there's more to it than Catastrophe Canyon...

By then we were starting to feel the cold... So while the men went for a ride in RnRC and ToT (walked straight into both), we ladies went for a hot drink and a chocolate brownie in Cafe Cafe

Cinemagique was unfortunately closed, so it meant we had to miss one of the best things about WDS... So we decided to start our way back to Disneyland. We had booked our lunch in the Lucky Nugget (since Maisie had been asleep when we had lunch with the characters in Cafe Mickey), so time to make a move! Though not before meeting Daisy, Chip and Dale!!

Lunch at the Lucky Nugget next!!

I'm so glad they've put fencing around the army truck in the queue line for parachute drop, when I was there on opening day (17th August) there were small children climbing all over it and ruining it. We told the CMs but they didn't seem to care so that was annoying

Glad you still got pictures from up at the top (:
Title: Re: never2old's Christmas trip (5-8 November)

Ah, I would have been the same, if I'd seen people climbing on the truck!! It's a bit sad how they need to put fences up around everything to prevent people from ruining things...

Anyway, here's the last update!

By lunchtime, it was serisouly raining. Pouring. I'm usually totally against umbrellas in Disney (because you can't easily take pictures with an umbrella in your hands, and it blocks everyone else's view as well), but with the weather like that, we had no choice! We had booked our table for 12:30; we got in just on time and were seated straight away. It was nice and warm and dry inside, wonderful!

We hadn't even taken our coats off and Goofy was already there to greet us

I hadn't eaten here for a few years, and it was a nice surprise to see that they had moved the buffet to the top area of the restaurant, leaving the center just for tables. It worked a lot better, the buffet area never seemed too crowded, and you never had to keep an eye out for kids running after a character... Plus we were seating really close to it, so for us it was perfect!

The food selection was great, there was a great choice for salads, and the warm food was really yummy... Agrabah Cafe remains my favourite buffet, but I would definitely consider coming here again, particularly for a character meal.

After Goofy, it was Pluto's turn. He went first to see Maisie, but she wanted to see Mickey, and only Mickey (she hadn't met him yet, only seen him from a distance), so she was completely ignoring Pluto!! It was actually quite funny, she kept turning her back to him no matter what he did, or what we told her... Stubborn little thing!!

Fortunately her sister then came back from the buffet and was delighted to see Pluto. And Pluto was delighted to get some attention! They gave each other a big hug :D

Fortunately for my little niece, Mickey was next...

Me too I was happy to meet him ;)

Then came Captain Hook... I had never meet him before, I was really happy!! Though he was a bit creepy...

And after him, Smee of course!

Finally when we were finishing, Goofy came to see us again...

Overall, we had a great time. I would have prefered to be seating on one of the tables, so that we could more easily talk between us, but that's the only negative about the meal. Everyone enjoyed the food and meeding the characters (particularly Mickey...), and that's the main thing!

Plus the Lucky Nugget is a beautiful restaurant...

The gold nugget:

When we came out after lunch, it was still raining quite heavily. We were feeling refreshed (and dry) after our meal, so we made our way (under the never ending pouring rain) towards Woody's Roundup, aka Santa's workshop, to meet Santa - last to-do in our list...

When we got there, Maisie had fallen asleep, so Cris stayed with her while we went inside. It was extremely quiet, there was only one family in front of us!!! And to be honest, for once I wouldn't have minded having maybe two or three people in front of us, so that I could take more time to admire the workshop and take some pictures...

My niece and Santa...

And me too!!

After meeting Santa, we decided to take the train back to Main Street. My sister-in-law and family had to leave soon, and it was time for them to head back... And at least in the train, we'd be dry!!

Though we ended up getting off in Discoveryland, and heading towards IASW one last time...

After that we got to Main Street, did some last minute shopping, and said our goodbyes  :(  The girls particularly were sad to leave (I totally understand them!!). We had a great time together! We don't see each other much (they live in the UK, we in Luxembourg), so it was really special to spend a few days together like that, and in the most magical place there is!!

But all good things come to an end...

After they left, Cris and I stayed behind a bit more. To be honest, I really wanted to get some rides done!! I hadn't been on many rides that day, and although I was happy just soaking in the Christmas magic, I wanted to go on some of my favourite rides again before leaving!

So we went to Discoveryland for a couple of goes on Buzz, then to Frontierland for one last go on Phantom Manor (with a stop on the way to take yet another picture of the castle... but it's hard to walk past it and not take a picture!!! oh, and that is rain, not snow...)

After that, we were both tired, and particularly, tired of the rain. If it hadn't been raining I would have considered staying a bit longer just to take some pictures, particularly at night, but it was too much!

So we went back towards the hotel (and I just took a couple of pictures on the way...)

Said goodbye to the Castle...

And out we were  :(

We got to the room and have a nice rest... We were both exhausted!!

Normally there should have been the bonfire night fireworks that night, but they were cancelled because of the weather (we were sooo happy we'd seen them on Friday night!!). Shame because from our room we would have had a great view...  Instead, we went for dinner at King Ludwig's, and had an early night!

The next day, after a yummy breakfast in the Manhattan restaurant, we went for a bit of shopping in the Val d'Europe shopping center, but didn't stay too long (I was feeling a bit ill), so we quickly started on our way home...

Overall it was a great trip (as usual), though the weather did get a bit in the way sometimes... But even with the rain and the wind, there was plenty of magic around!! And our family had a really magical time, which is always the most important thing!!  :D

Thank you all for reading!!!

Thanks  :D

@kmara, you're going to have such a magical time!! I love going with kids for their first time, it's a really magical experience! And so far I've only been with "borrowed" ones  ;)  I can't wait for my little girl to be old enough to enjoy it (well, now I can't wait for her to be born, but you know what I mean...) You'll have to tell us how your trip goes!!

Congratulations, that is fabulous news!!!  :D        :D/  =D>  :D

But you may be surprised. We thought the same, but ended up taking our kids when they weren't even three months old. Lol. Getting pictures of them as babies in the park (and yes, with the characters) was unforgetable.

Why am I not surprised

I would like to go in October this year, and I'm already considering whether to take the baby with us or not... On the one hand I would like her to remember her first visit, on the other hand, I don't know if I'll be able to leave her behind if and when we go!! And I don't think I'll be able to wait a couple of years before I take her, and way too impatient for that!

I'd say take her. I can tell you from experience, kids never fully remember their holidays until they are over the age of 7, and then you have missed out on too much fun.

I am biased, I do not remember my first Disney trip as I was a baby the first time I went to Disneyland 36 years ago. The memories are for you and your husband. Also, believe me, it is not fun leaving your kids to go anywhere. We did to go to Dubai for a work a few years ago when I was collecting an award, and it felt wrong.

But by the time our youngest was 3 (she is 6 now), she had been to DLP 6 times, WDW once (we had her first haircut done there) and Disneyland in California. The memories for Sarah and I are unforgetable. And she remember pockets too.

Also, they are growing out of Playhouse Disney, and they cannot wait until they are tall enough for Space Mountain and Rock N Roller Coaster. Seeing them go through the changes in the park is amazing, and it makes every trip very very different.

Finally I found some time for your last update. The Lucky Nugget Saloon is really a beautifully themed restaurant. Maybe we should try it during our next visit. Are there any vegetarian options?

N2O you did a wonderful trip report and it was a pleasure to read it. Unfortunately we have to wait some time until we can enjoy your next one, but I'm sure the next months will be very exciting for you and your husband. Perhaps your next report already includes the youngest Disney fan on magicforum.

@davewasbaloo Thanks for that, I'll remember it!! It's true that I imagine it would be really hard to leave her behind, we've been waiting for her for a very long time and it's true we did not want to have a child to not share everything with her!

@dagobert To be honest, I didn't really notice a huge vegetarian selection (like for example in Agrabah). They did have pasta and vegetables, and the salad buffet had plenty of choice, but I really couldn't say if it was a good place for vegetarians... But it is a beautiful restaurant! Oh, and many thanks :D Yep, we got a lot to look forward to, I can't believe that in a few weeks I'll finally get to meet our baby girl!! And I think she'll be starring in many future reports.... ;)
