Title: Our first trip to DLRP 13th-18th June
Post by: Dorsetcandy on June 25, 2010, 08:41:42 PM
Day One-Sunday 13th June
Most of today was to be taken up with travelling,we were combining our first trip to DLRP with the childrens first experience of flying,so it was off to Bristol airport as although Exeter is closer to our home the flights from there were nearly double the price as those from Bristol  :o

We had been told of a parking service who meet you at Tall Pines golf club near the airport & drive you in your car to the drop off point, what a bonus this was a lot less stressfull and a bargain price of £25 for Sun-Fri much cheaper than airport parking, the service was friendly and efficient & the driver even gave us £2 for a luggage trolley when we found we had no change, would highly recomend this for anyone travelling anywhere from Bristol airport!
Wasn't sure if i was allowed to post details of the car parking service in my report,if someone could let me know that would be great & anyone wanting the info please feel free to message me  :)

So we got through check-in/security without too much hassle other than causing an elderly couple to complain that our children were allowed thier milk bottles & they were not allowed thier juice drinks(we did have to taste the milk,i guess to prove it wasn't anything bad) the whole boarding went very well despite another passenger informing us we could go to front of que as we had small children which surely should of been the Easy Jet staffs job we have said thier service was fine for a short flight but no way we would go long distances with them!

In no time at all we were at Charles De Gualle airport collecting our luggage & being met by our taxi driver, having worked out the price for 4of us to get the coach we decided for the comfort/lack of stress paying a few more euros was worth it,with a 2 & 3yr old it definately was,the drive took about 45mins and then we saw our first glimpse of the Earffiel Tower and the studios then there was our hotel....the Newport Bay which looked amazing it was about 8pm by this point, after reading some posts on forums i was surprised the lobby was quiet & we went straight to the Admirals Floor desk where we were checked in straight away, and the children liked standing on the steps to get a good look at what was going on which was a nice touch!Although the Disneyland Park was open til 10pm we had decided not to attempt it that night instead to take bags to our room, freshen up & head to Disney Village to get something to eat,we didn't have to wait long for a lift(there were 5 up to the rooms) it did however take us a few attempts to find our room...i put this down to the travelling lol.

So freshened up,we headed to Disney Village, after taking a few wrong turns and having to ask which way as there are no obvious signs how to exit the hotel to get there, you needed to go down a flight of stairs to the restaurant level and head out of double doors between the 2restaurants,but be warned if you have a buggy or anyone who can't manage stairs there is only 1lift to this level and its not big myself and the single buggy only just fitted! This was one of the things mentioned on the Pluto ?form i filled in as i fealt a hotel with 1000+ rooms needed more than this or at least some ramps put in!

The walk from Newport Bay was stunning around the lake on a lovely evening and the kids got very excited about the balloon,it was a nice stroll but we were in need of food although we did have a quick stop at the statues of Aurora & Phillip outside world of toys and the children had a go on the remote control cars, while i did my first pin trade of the trip with one of the cms keeping an eye on the children i got Magical Mickeys Party balloon pin which i thought was nice!

We decided on King Ludwig's castle after the kids wanted to go in there and it was somewhere we had wanted to eat at some point, pleasantly surprised we had no wait for a table and were quite near the knight centrepiece which Rhianna & Drew loved the back of thier menus were colouring sheets and they were happy, our drink orders were taken very promptly and we were given bit more time to make our food choice,Colin's beer was huge so be warned large is xxl i had a cocktail but it was really strong and i couldn't drink it even after i swigged a fair amount and topped up with some of the kids juice!

We ordered a childrens burger meal, childrens macaroni cheese they got a choice of drink and pudding they went for chocolate mousse which was in a biscuit base and looked really yummy,Colin had a mix of sausage & other meat with sauerkraut(sorry i know that is spelled wrong) & i had a mix of fish, with sauce & sauerkraut,we all really enjoyed it,the service and food were good and we have said we would go back there on a future visit!

Day 2-Monday 14th June
Well having got back to our room just gone Midnight and having a 7am slot for breakfast we didn't get much sleep but we were all quite chirpy considering but then it was going to be our first ever day in a Disney park  :D
We were some of the first to make it down to breakfast so it was quiet, although alot of the tables seemed to be reserved, none of us really ate much and were eager to go bk to grab all the stuff we thought we may need for the day, rainjackets, money, lanyards and a change of outfits for the children,as we were heading back we noticed Mickey was to be in the lobby at 8am so decided to see how busy it was when we came back down,as it was fairly quiet at present! Was so excited about the first chance to see a character!

Our first meeting with Mickey, much to my dissapointment Drew had decided not to dress up and be a bit stroppy, but he is nearly 3 so it is to be expected,Rhianna choose her Cinderella outfit to wear and looked lovely, there were probably about 7families ahead of us waiting to see Mickey and cms from the hotel shop were keeping the que orderly so we were happy to wait and get pictures and our first autograph of the holiday  :D i would advise anyone wanting to get signatures to find the thickest pen you can find and your have your autograph book with you all the time and asap after your arrival as characters can pop up unexpectedly,do try and take a thick pen over with you as htey seemed in short supply around the resort and with hands the size of Mickey & others biros are just no good!

Well what a happy start to the day not even 8.30am yet so off we headed to the park to try and make the most of the magic hours we had heard so much about, deciding to walk we took in the views around the lake and strolled through Disney Village with the children wanting to stop and pose with statues/cut outs along the way it took a while!

Finally made it through Disney Village for our first experience of the train station, lots of people heading the same way and lots of vendors which was annoying,we just ignored them & luckily the kids seemed uninterested in the scary looking dogs and dancing cows!Lots of people were heading for the entrance but not as bad as i thought it may have been and there was someone at each gate to check your bags as you entered,so if you can unzip all compartments as you head for the gates it saves time and before we knew it we were looking to the Disney Hotel in front and the gates of the Studios to our left rather than struggling with the kids to get pictures we decided to head straight into the parks, heading in the direction others were we started to head under one of the Disney hotel walkways to see Smee walking across waving at those of us below  :D an added bonus, big grins on the childrens faces as we headed round to the turnstyles which you needed your tickets for, there was a cm at every one though helping those having problems or with buggies and Rhianna spotted a Minnie pin one cm was wearing on her lanyard so out came the pins and the first trade of the day was done  :) and from that point the lanyards remained on our necks most of the stay expect while eating & asleep as the opportunities for trading were everywhere as most cast seemed to have lanyards and we found as long as you approached them nicely and asked to see the lanyard properly all were willing to take time out from whatever task they were doing  :D

We were in Disneyland Park for the first time ever  :D/  Wow what a feeling we had seen pictures and video clips but nothing prepares you for the emotions you feel when you first enter Main Street but i'm sure you all remember it!Trying to take in the sights and sounds at the same time as not getting in peoples way is not easy & then you see the castle for the first time...stunning,it was truly a magical moment for all of us we avoided the lure of trying to get a pic as was bit busy with the children to deal with aswell & decided to head to Discoveryland and our first ride of the trip!It was busy but not stupidly so although we could already imagine how the ques could build up at busier times of the year we headed to Buzz's laser Blast and Drew perked up jumping out of the buggy he had been in,took no time at all to reach the ride and the artwork along the way is fun, anyone with smaller children who havn't visited before be warned alot of the rides including this have a moving walkway you need to step on to get onto the ride and seated we found picking the children up and placing them on the seat was easieist and it is a bit of a shock if not expecting it but easy to get used to,which is good as most rides you get on and off via these moving walkways!

To infinity and beyond, for the next few minutes we were space rangers, shooting at Buzz's enemies and enjoying every second  :D  and a huge thanks to the guy in the car in front who gestured to show me you could use the joystick/control thing to move your vechile around as i wouldn't have got as good a score! And it took a while for Colin to realise which meant on this occasion my score was better than his  :) We all loved it and were very tempted to have another go straight away but no to keep Colin in a good mood we decided to walk round Discoveryland and see what else there was there/get our bearings and all important see where Star Tours was!We passed Space Mountain hearing the screams from inside    not my sort of ride and saw the Nautilus found that Captain EO was indeed definately back,a store called Star Traders which we would no doubt be visiting several times and off Colin went pushing Drew in front and forgetting Rhianna was trying to keep up..he had spotted Star Tours and there was no stopping him lol it wasn't open yet but it was almost like he was checking it really was there! We took a few pictures and decided we would be back later and i could go to Videopolis with Drew while him & Rhianna rode Star Tours fine by me  :D now to head back to Fantasyland & the castle!!

I am really loving your trip report, it sounds like you were having a great time (though you did miss a really gem in Star Tours, at least the queueline). I am looking forward to reading the rest.

The biggest compliment I can give you, is I can sometimes get a little jaded about DLP, and our trip earlier this month was my 55th. But you have made me want to go and rebook and get back there.

Can't wait to see the rest of the report. Welcome home.

To see it afresh is brilliant.  Thank you.

No need to thank me it's nice to have like minded people to share my trip with....there have been a few people i know who have visited and said they had done everything there was to do in 3days!How they managed this is beyond me..unless they have some powers i don't know about or a time machine!

I hope planning your 30th trip is going well,i will plan a bit better next time (as much as is possible with young children)

Had to share this one..if only i could do a speech bubble with Rhianna saying "wait for me Daddy"

We headed to Fantasyland and the castle,Drew kept drifting between being really interested & sprawling in the buggy,Rhianna was eager to get there so when we entered the arch under the castle and saw the stairs going up it was me and her that ventured up as Colin waited,i'm not great with heights but the beautiful surroundings and things to see were more important and Rhianna seemed right at home,we took our time looking at the different windows & sculptures, the spinning wheel and by the time we had looked round the upper floor Colin & Drew had appeared so we went round again,Drew's favourite was the snoring suit of armour/knight and Rhianna's was probably the changing window which made her gasp first time she saw it happen!

With all of us there we ventured outside onto the walk round bit and had a lovely view...i noticed the sweetie shop, then headed down the steps to what we knew was heading to the dragon's lair we carried the children as Rhianna was finding the spiral stairs difficult in her Cinderella dress & it was a bit dark but once down there they loved the dragon & got excited when it started breathing smoke,Drew really loved it and i may of missed it when in the shops but would of loved to buy him a really nice dragon plush or toy will definately have to look out for one next time we visit!

Continuing around Fantasyland Drew suddenly announced he wanted a tea party so we headed towards where we thought the Alice stuff would be,we could see some of the characters poking through the maze but that was not yet open..it was still early so the Mad hatters Teacups it was,not sure of anyones reaction to this but heh had to try it at least once!
Drew is unsure before the ride starts!

Ok no need to worry about this ride the kids are giggling like mad which is making us giggle too!We came off the ride & Drew wanted to do it again straight away after promising we would do it later (at some point before we went home of course) we saw the teapot and the doormouse pop out of the top which was quite amusing as a family had perched there daughter on top of the spout for what they thought was a perfect photo only for her to start screaming about the mouse!  i apologise in advance if it was anyone reading this but from an onlookers point of view it was very amusing even our children laughed!

We then saw the chairs near Alice's Curious Labyrinth and couldn't pass on the photo esp as there was only one family in front of us waiting & we had our first chance to help someone with thier photos by taking a pic of them all  :)
Then on to the ride i know Colin had been dreading....It's a Small World! For some reason he got it in his head the dolls are scary looking and it didn't help when someone we know said the boats broke down and they were stuck in Thailand for about 15minns with them singing away i thought it was amusing he went quite pale  :D it took us longer to walk to where the boats are than to actually get loaded on a boat,i really wouldn't want to stand in a queue that long and off we went on our little boat trip round the world, the kids grinning the whole way round and Colin not saying much yes the song sticks in your head but i found it quite cute and a way of introducing many different cultures to children, ours already know a few but lots of new countries we now may get some books from library about.

It all went fine and Colin didn't have a panic attack, but it was a definate NO when i asked if we should go straight on again as there was no queue and Drew especially seemed to love it.

We were starting to feel a bit hungry although it was still fairly early but decided to head to Adventureland and Pirates of the Caeibbean ride before heading out to Disney Village for lunch and so glad that we did after us all taking in the really fab skull and whole pirate island theme we found only a 5min wait for the ride and most of that was the walk from the entrance to where the boats were loading, this was one we had all been looking forward to and it didn't dissapoint...although i didn't realise there were dips and Colin was giggling like mad after the first my face must of been a picture all the scenes were fab and we recognised some from pins we had at home already or ones that were wanted  :)  anyone who dosn't already know us we are very keen pin collectors and find it a great hobby the whole family can take part in!

Despite the dips i was keen to do the ride again before we left and we definately decided to eat at the Blue Lagoon one day aswell it looked a really nice setting and in the shop on the way out while looking around we did a few more pin trades with cast and bought a few things and there in a display cabinet was a pin from the last pin event in April that we had really wanted to go to but work schedule wouldn't allow a gorgeous Tink pin as a pirate in a wooden chest saying 'Pirates of the Caribbean pin hunt event le of 600 and date of the event' well of course we had to buy one and if i didn't find another pin i really liked the whole trip i was happy with that one even if it was nearly 30euros  :D

So off we went to Disney Village to get some lunch taking in the sights and sounds of the Disneyland park as we went!

As we were heading for Disney village we got to see the party train for first time so we were all making Choo Choo noises as we headed for Rainforest cafe for lunch,it was very quiet in Disney Village which was nice and we got shown to a table straight away once the children had finished looking at the fish tanks and we got sat right near an elephant, the children loved it
(//http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx95/dorsetcandy/Day%202-DLRP/068.jpg)
The children had a nice colouring booklet and crayons to keep them busy although they were just mesmirised by the elephant alot of the time and both chose burger & chips we didn't really mind what they had this week as we tend to eat well at home, myself and Colin had a starter to share with chicken wings, breaded cheese, quesilidas, prawn crackers and a potato/egg combo with salsa & gucamole which was nice i'd chosen a salad for my main & Colin had gone for a steak.

 the salad was huge no way i could eat that even if i hadn't had a starter, there were crispy noodles, prawns, avacado, pineapple, lettuce, salmon and some other extras in it very nice but way too big a portion,Colin said he didn't really like the potato thing that came with the steak & the steak wasn't as gr8 as he had hoped, the kids loved theres and as a pudding had chocolate mousse which was in an edible wafer basket and topped with smarties it was an ok meal and the kids loved the surroundings but for the price we paid for what we had i think we will give this a miss next time we go or maybe just pop in for a pudding and a drink if the children really want to go back.

We were all feeling full and bit tired and decided to go to Woodys roundup village to meet a few more characters and then maybe head to the hotel for a rest.As we were waiting to see the first character Goofy it started raining quite heavy and our jackets were under the buggy outside  :( so we all got a bit wet but it cleared up again quickly & all was forgotten when we saw Goofy,Minnie,Mickey,Woody & Jessie we got a pic of the children with all of them and thier autographs

We also saw Scrooge in this bit too which was a nice surprise,by the time we exited the weather was looking dodgy & Drew was very sleepy so we decided to head for the hotel although on reaching Fantasyland Rhianna decided she wanted to go on more rides and so it was agreed that Colin went back with Drew and i'd do a few rides with Rhianna before we also headed back, seemed wierd queueing on our own for Casey Jnr and it was one of the longest queues we had been in and then the heavens opened the rain started & it poured down    and there were a few claps of thunder we stayed in the queue and hoped for the best but it didn't seem to be easing off & just as we neared the top of the steps the ride was closed and we all had to find our way out back the way we came,Rhianna was wet and upset but i promised her we would go on it when weather was better and some sweets on the way back to meet Daddy & Drew which calmed her down.

Such a shame but can't help the weather we made what seemed to be an even longer walk back to the park entrance in the rain but by time we got there it was clearing up again and becoming warm but i needed to head for the hotel we stopped in the boutique before exiting the park to get sweets as promised and glad we did as i got 2cast lanyard pins and Rhianna picked a lovely Marie pin with a jewel so both happy!I avoided the temptation of stores in Disney Village and headed for Newport Bay and our room and a much needed rest...the boys were both sound asleep & after having some milk Rhianna was aswell i took much longer to settle but soon we were all having a much deserved rest.

We traded lots of pins without making it our main priority which was great and the majority of cm's were lovely about trading and were pleasantly surprised when we let them choose whichever pin they wanted from our lanyards, made us think most of the time they are just handed a pin it was nice to see them showing off thier new pins to fellow cm's and the Up balloon pins seemed to dissappear as soon as we put them on our lanyards,Rhianna traded as many pins as i did on the trip and has them on a canvas now  :)

Conclusion of Monday 14th June
I got a bit of much needed rest but i'm quite a light sleeper normally and woke up way before the others i tried to entertain myself with the tv,and looking through park info & sorting pins but was soon feeling bit bored & wanting to go do stuff!Drew woke first and we played with his Stitch playset for a while and did some colouring by 7pm decided time to wake the others...easier said than done but realising the time Colin got a bit more motivated & Rhianna perked up when i said we would go outside!

The parks were shut by this time but Disney Village was calling and we hadn't had a proper look round the shops,my purse fealt lighter already  ;) As i thought Rhianna insisted in another pic with the Aurora statue and we headed into World of Toys what a great range of stuff it was overwhelming!Lots to look at and so different to the UK stores and cm's seemed to all be wearing lanyards  :) what fun we satarted talking to one cm who was commenting on how nice the pins on our lanyards were and how it was nice to be able to choose,he had worked in the US for a while & seemed quite interested in pins and had a lovely jack skellington st patricks day one on his tie,he said to make sure we came back to trade again we said we definately would as were staying til Fri.lots of lovely pins a fair few Colin was buying i was holding back on core pins until i saw what LE pins i could find around the park as the core pins seemed available most places although Cheshire Cat seemed bit harder to find so grabbed a cpl of those.
We wandered through to the clothing store, made such a nice change to see so many items for adults compared to the UK!Then although we had been stuffed after leaving Rainforest cafe we decided to head for Annettes.

We hadn't booked but again got shown straight to a table upstairs quite a nice booth, and looked at the menu i couldn't face anything too much so decided on nachos & a peanut butter shake, children chose nuggetts & burger meal and Colin went for a Chilli burger, the kids menu were on a bit of card you could make into a car which kept them entertained until the meal came, made a nice change to colouring & thier meals came on a frisbee which they could keep too  :D
(//http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx95/dorsetcandy/Day%202-DLRP/164.jpg)

The service was friendly and although when we got the bill they had charged for a drink we hadn't had we said to sort it out and keep the difference as part of the tip which they were fine with and it saved us hanging around too long as anyone with young children know they can start being silly in restaurant/cafes and this was one of those times for ours!We took a leisurely stroll back to the hotel, buying Drew a Stitch spinner toy and Rhianna a Minnie one and a few postcards on the way.

The children settled quite well & me and Colin decided we would head to Peter Pans Flight as first ride in the morning and that we wouldn't go to breakfast at the hotel as the children were not keen to eat that early & if we ate later it was alot busier/would miss out on some of the Magic hours benefits that was extent of decision making for now as Colin had already nearly fallen asleep,he runs a bar and is not used to early starts as i only work 3days a week i do most of the early mornings with the children!

We started buying pins from the UK as soon as we knew we were goinng to dlrp and storing them in Mickey & Minnie biscuit tins seperate from our other traders so we knew we would have plenty for our trip a mix of core £3 pins and celebration £5 and LEs £7 we only really traded core and a few celebration onto lanyards although i gave an LE pin to an especially helpful and chatty cm in Dsiney Village

Tuesday 15th June
Well i awoke on Tues fairly early about 5.30am and had quite an unsettled night for some reason, the others had slept soundly and still were, time for a much needed coffee before a shower and getting dressed, love going on holiday but you do miss your home comforts even at Disney!Anyway by the time everyone was up,dressed and ready to go it was just before 8am,Rhianna had opted for wearing her Tiana costume(which i think is lovely, one of the nicest) so we would have to go meet Tiana today  :D we had seen that Pluto would be in the lobby at 8am so headed down, unfortunately there was already quite a crowd gathered and a fair amount of noise, you couldn't really see any queue forming so as we hadn't mentioned it specifically to the children skipped that and headed to the park!

It was/always was a great feeling heading to the parks and through the gates surrounded by other people anticipating the fun filled day ahead i think you need to have experienced it yourself to fully understand,we were all excited about another new ride Peter Pan's flight,i love the film and collect Peter Pan pins(among others) there was a queue but it moved quickly and in no time at all we were heading off in our boat,Rhianna grippped my hand as it was very dark(i was quite pleased about this lol) it was great but no way you can take in all the things going on around you,you got off feeling you just had to do it again....so we did!!! :D Followed by the tea cups and It's a small world before another tour of the castle!

Deciding it was time for a sit down and a drink we headed back to Main Street and walking through the covered arcade found a really nice place next to Harringtons, not sure of the name of the place   was real nice snack and a nice place to sit down for a bit with really interesting decor.

As meeting Tiana & Naveen in the Town Square wasn't that far off we decided to look in the shops off Main Street & see if we could find any more pins we would like to trade for, first stop Harringtons as it was only next door they have quite a few LE pins there compared to other shops and we both found a framed set we liked mine a Tink one and Colin a Stitch but we both said we would wait til near the end of our trip to get one but there were others there we liked including some more of the pins from the Pirate event in April, unfortunately the Stitch pirate pin and Mad Hatter St Patricks Day pin they didn't have  :(  this did get to be a common thing to happen to us during our trip as all LE pins seemed to be in locked display cabinets/frames and cms would then go check out back for what you asked for,so asking for any pins you had to keep your fingers crossed they would return with them, also bought a Pin trading bag and a map from the Pirate event so that hopefully when/if we could track them all down we could display them on it!

So by then it was time to head to the meet & greet we got there 20mins before Tiana was due to appear but there was already a long queue, but Rhianna didn't care!Drew wasn't as interested so Colin headed off with him to investigate more shops & cast lanyards for pins. The cast members were very good here at controlling people trying to sneak in which made waiting much less stressfull than elsewhere & luckily we got into the first group of people to see Tiana & Naveen,a big thankyou to the lovely Spainish couple who gave up thier place in the queue so several children could get in the first group and didn't have a longer wait   that's the Disney spirit and i even knew to say muchos gracias  ;)

Tiana & Naveen truly were a Prince & Princess they bent down to greet Rhianna as she approached asking her name and age, commenting on how lovely her dress was and asking who her favourites from the film were, she was a bit shy but grinning loads and managed to say she liked Lois and his trumpet they both signed her autograph book & asked for a kiss before she went it was an experience i will never forget even if she dos! :D
(//http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx95/dorsetcandy/dlrp-day%203/120.jpg)
Thinking Colin had waited long enough we headed to Discoveryland and Star Tours, the plan was for me and Drew to watch cartoons in Videopolis while him & Rhianna went on the ride as we knew drew was too young/small however Rhianna ended up staying with us as she was told she was too small but she was fine joining me & Drew phew i expected a bit of fuss!Colin returned grinning and telling how his first shuttle had broken down and thats why he had been a while...to be honest we hadn't really noticed to absorbed in classic cartoons!Deciding it was time for some food we headed to Pizza Planet as the children were determind to do it,lots of kids running around and in the play area and it was a real struggle getting the kids to eat anything which was frustrating its a buffett style were you help yourself to selection of pizza, pasta(it was a bolgnaise or carbonara style) and salad, range of drinks and puddings including pastries, brownies, choc cake and fruit the food was pretty standard we had paid around 46euros for all of us and fealt we could of eaten better elsewhere but could see the advantages for groups of people(school trips/club outings etc) and there were a couple there that day but we personally wouldn't go back on future trips!
We decided to go to Phantom Manor next this was one i'd been really looking forward to and wasn't disappointed,we did get a few looks from people obviously thinking the children would be scared because they were young but they love Doctor Who esp the weeping angels & victorian ghosts/zombies episode and had gone on the huanted house/laser blast at Alton Towers last year and loved it so we were not worried and obviously if they had protested we wouldn't of made them go on!I think the thing that worried Rhianna the most was walking to the doom buggy via the moving walkway as she nearly tripped,we all loved it the children pointed and made spooky noises when the phantoms appeared behind the buggy and we could see them   another one would definately like to do again and again!
Lots to see outside the manor too, which was fun investigating and some stunning views of Big Thunder Mountain & the river boats we all waved as they weny by!Amazing how time passes so fast when you are in the parks looking at our watches we decided time to head in the direction of the parade via Le Voyage of Pinocchio another reasonable wait for the ride and we all enjoyed it,myself & Colin did comment it was a little fast as we couldn't take in all the scene before getting to the next but very enjoyable and another one the whole family could enjoy!

The long days were obviously catching up with all of us as we wearily headed to Main Street we had timed it a bit wrong and it was still a good 40minutes b4 the parade started Colin decided he had done enough for one day and asked if anyone wanted to go back to the hotel for a swim Drew grinned from ear to ear so off they went,Rhianna wanted a drink and we wandered off to get one but i could tell she was sleepy and wasn't sure she would get to see the parade at all at one point she said she was sleepy and could we go,then started crying as we headed under the arches to the exits so back we went managed to get a spot to watch the parade, which was very good and so glad we had made the effort to stay despite the fact i got bashed on the back of the head several times by someone with a big camera trying to get good shots   i was probably only getting really annoyed because the battery on my camera had decided to run out part wat through but we loved swaying along to the music and waving to the character & got to see some we hadn't managed to elsewhere!I'd love to see a night time version on a future visit  :)

So after a long day in the park off we headed back to the hotel,no stops on the way this time other than to grab some milk in the hotel shop, the boys were still swimming when we got back so we watched tv & did some pictures of our day it was only 20mins or so and they got back,we quickly decided everyone was too tired to head to Disney Village for something to eat so ordered kids meals & sandwiches & drinks via room service were told 30mins which was fine but it came in half that amount of time, the children got a gift of little spirograph sets that said Disneyland Paris on them so they were chuffed and loved there Mickey pizzas  :D very good value we thought and if your feeling especially tired it's so nice to have food brought to you!
Everyone seemed ready for sleep so we cleared the stuff away, wrote some postcards then the children settled down although as the room had 2double beds Rhianna ended up laying with me and Drew with Colin and that was really last thing i remember as i fell into an exhausted yet happy sleep ready for the following day which we had decided would be spent in the Studios  :D

We definately can all say we had a fab time and want to return, the Newport Bay was very nice the first few days but as it started to get busier towards the end of our stay we could see how irritating lack of room getting through the lobby when crowded/only having one lift could/would be very annoying if it was a constant thing for your whole stay,so annoying as it's a beautiful hotel with great theming and such a nice setting right by the lake but because of the downsides when busy we will probably stay elsewhere in future.

Thanks,we were definately in awe the first few days & feel we could of planned better but i don't feel we missed out as such as we wouldn't of got round to doing anything no matter what and didn't want to feel too organised as 2young children destroy the best thought out plans..lol

I really enjoy reading them as it helps me make mental notes what to do and what not to do   (pizza planet-although I cant see Rob letting me get away with that!) !  Plus I am so swept along with yours as its your first trip :D
The room service looks really good. Yum! We've opted for Admirals Floor so that we can do breakfast in the room. Rob has special needs and I really dont like the idea of dragging him down to breakfast and competing with the bun fight (Saying that -thats what it was like in Sequoia -dont know about NPB but not taking the chance ;) )

I agree about the single lift in Newport Bay.  It is the same in Sequoia Lodge BTW.  It has always struck me as unusually bad planning for Disney

Hiya sorry been a few days between my report but Drew has caught chicken pox or chicken spots as the children are calling it and is quite miserable  :(  and wanting lots of cuddles when awake but at least he didn't get it before or during our trip  :D

Weds 16th June
I woke up about 6.30am feeling great after a sound sleep & was eager to get ready and do stuff but we had agreed the night before to not such an early start to the day as the day before we had found ourselves getting tired & a bit stressed which is not the way to spend your holiday!I got myself ready & topped my lanyard up with more pins and decided while everyone was still asleep to go change some travellers cheques up,wasn't sure where exactly to go so headed to the Admiral's floor desk and the cm happily changed them up for me and as was doing that spotted my lanyard & said how much she liked the UK Cinderella celebration pin as i was in such a jolly mood i said if she could find a lanyard with pins i would trade and then she could maybe trade again to get the Cinderella one!So glad i did as when she appeared with a lanyard it had the cast lanyard Boo & Robin Hood pin on so i ended up trading for 2pins(we never did see either of those pins on any lanyards in the parks) so anyone into pins it's well worth asking in the lobby if there at a quiet moment you never know what you may find  ;)

Once all ready you can see what the first stop in Disney Village was,Rhianna would of brought Aurora home with her if she could! We had decided to spend all day in the Studios so were in no real rush as thought we could probably see most of it in a day so after Rhianna had her cuddle and pic with Aurora we headed into the World of Toys to see what pins were on the lanyards  :) the nice cm from the other night was in there & came over for a chat i told him i was trying to find the latest cast pin with Baloo & Mowgli for a friend and off he went to try & find it,which i hadn't expected we found a few other pins on other cms lanyards while he was gone and Colin got a Star Wars jedi academy t-shirt and the children were happy with some sweets after we said they could have a toy later,we also found some of the pirate event pins which we decided to buy just incase we didn't see them elsewhere! He came back looking a bit sad he hadn't found the pin we were after but telling us to come back the next day and he would make an effort to find one for us...what a nice thing to do & a lovely start to the day when the cms are helpful like that it makes such a great addition to your trip  :D

Excited about our first visit to the studios of we went, definately not as many people heading in this direction as for the Disneyland Park and as was feeling so rested up i fealt alot more happy/relaxed than the previous day after heading through the gates we went to hire a buggy which for 7.90euros a day well worth it as carrying one of the kids when they got tired was starting to take it's toll & Colin found a Stitch pin on the lanyard & i found A pin with Tink & Marie on  :) we decided to grab a hot drink & a Mickey doughnut and the children had juice & a doughnut before heading into the studios for a proper look was nice just to sit & watch the other people going by & take in our surroundings the children liked the flying carpet! So we headed outside not knowing really what we were going to do first strolling in the direction of the Production Courtyard the kids got excited as they saw some characters including 2 they had been asking to see Daisy & Donald! :D

Meeting the characters was a lot less of a scrum than in the disneyland park each character had a cm with them & as it wasn't so busy people seemed more happy to wait for there turn! There were quite a few characters dotted around but seeing that a showing of Stitch Live in English was only a 10min wait we decided to join the queue with only 1family in front of us  :) we started chatting with them and Rhianna & thier daughter were holding hands and comparing shoes and talking about Disney in no time where as us adults were saying how the queues etc were fine and we hadn't had that long to wait for anything but that the thought of coming in peak season didn't appeal to us,the show was great really got the audience involved, although i'm very glad Stitch didn't decide to pick on me!All i can say is i could of sat through a longer show than it was young & old seemed to really enjoy it and are kids were giggling and joining in!
Was quite a while to the next showing of Playhouse disney which is right next door so we decided to walk on to see some more we took in the Rock n Roller coaster & Narnia chair but the children didn't want to go sit in it or go singing in the rain,Colin & Rhianna decided to go on Armageddon and myself & Drew went and looked at the stunt cars and the few carts selling good quite liking Stitch in his tower of terror outfit,we found where the exit to Armageddon was and the wind machine which kept Drew happy while we waited,i was a bit apprehensive after seeing a few grouos exit & kids in tears as they came out but i didn't need to worry Rhianna came out smiling and telling me about rocks & fire!

Drew didn't seem quite his usual self today and seemed to want to stay in the buggy and just look around at what was going on,knowing that Colin was desperate to go on Tower of Terror we headed in that direction and i was quite expecting to go find a show or somewhere to sit with both the children while he went on the ride but no Rhianna wanted to do it too!!!

Quote from: "tubbsy"OOH! I'd be upset if our wonderful admins edited the trip reports!

How cool are the cars you got to make!?! makes me wish I could order children's meals hahaha!!
    The salad in rainforest..wow HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGE!!!
    xx

I would order a kids meal if you want and see what they say!! :D and the salad was like a mountain,Colin took a pic when they brought it to our table and again when i really could not eat another mouthful & it still looked huge, was nice though going to see if i can recreate it somewhen this week.....just alot smaller! x

 go for it Tori! I can see Steph ordering a kids meal. Hmmmmm Lunch first day me thinks?  :D

Hiya Tubbsy i would recommend both the room service on Admirals floor & opting for breakfast in the room,it's 10euros extra per room & you have an option of cooked breakfast for 6.50per person but unless you get the very first sitting at 7am for brekkie you will very likely be in quite a long queue to be seated to have your breakfast as most days the queue for breakfast would be in the way of people exiting the hotel to head for the parks! The other thing we did a few times was to eat elsewhere(yes we had in effect paid for breakfest at the hotel) but for us trips away are about enjoying the time we have together the deli/sandwich place in Disney village(open from 9am) did crepes for 2.50 & a doughnut & hot drink for about 4euros and eggs & toast & drink for about 5 i had crepes there which were lovely  :)

Tori let us know how you get on with ordering a kids meal...we will all be doing it if allowed  :)

I was worried about how Rhianna would react to Tower of Terror as i'm not great with heights alot of the time i use lifts instead of escalators/stairs so was worried she would be truamatised by it lol
(//http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx95/dorsetcandy/Day%204-DLRP/061.jpg)
No need to worry  :D she did say she screamed alot but said it was fun!alot of people couldn't believe she was actually going on it and rather her than me i sat on a bench opposite the entrance as Drew was taking a nap in the buggy, while there a cm approached with a survey to do with our experience which i was happy to help with by the time Colin & Rhianna had appeared it was only about 20mins until Stars & Cars so we headed in that direction and decided to go back to the Tower of Terror shop after that to collect the pics(shown above) & see what other goodies they had!

While waiting for the parade we got talking to a family who as it turned out had been in Stitch Live earlier in the day with us and thier daughter Charlotte had been chosen by Stitch she was so pleased about it & we found out they would be on the same flight to Bristol as us on the way back so we knew there would be a few friendly faces at the airport!Time for the parade,it was great but where we had stood wasn't the best spot we will know better in future but Rhianna was happy enough & even Drew had woken up and was making an attempt to join in although he was very unsteady on his feet, well worth watching and now i have got home i wish i had bought all the pins that depict the stars & cars!
We said goodbye to the other family and headed to the shop photos,keyrings,magnet,t-shirts,postcards & a few pins later headed to the till and we found yet another unexpected item a lanyard with medal from the Pirate event for 15euros we asked how many they had unfortunately only 1 plus the display one which we were happy to have shame as we know lots of ppl who would of loved one but we were  :D Drew seemed very sleepy today so we headed to Cars and Magic carpets both of which were enjoyed by all Drew definately likes the spinning rides as he was giggling all the way through,i was loving the Studios only thing is you have to really plan your day/timings to catch all the shows and with 2 under 5 it just wasn't that easy we did however time the tram tour well and as we stood waiting the children were quite excited and us too of course, unfortunately the tv in our part of the tram wasn't working so we missed out on that,i enjoyed seeing items from various films and being amongst the water was great the children only looked worried for a brief amount of time and were then grinning again, fascinated by the thought of a dragon being nearby and looking eagerly for it....wow those flames are hot wasn't expecting the heat to be that intense!Another ride i'd happily do again & again we saw the building of the Toy Story section not sure how/what the looping roller coaster looking part is going to be but i wasn't alone in saying looked like a ride that wasn't for me! :) but can't wait to go back & see it all finished!
What i really liked with the rides was the theming present in the queues & approaching the rides always well done and actually i found myself wanting to take my time getting to the rides to try & take it all in!
Omg nearly forgot just before we went on through radiator springs we saw Buzz was nearby and we went and said hello & got a pic obviously through his space ranger outfit he couldn't speak but he pointed to our lanyards & gave us the thumbs up and then looked at the pins b4 giving another
Both the children were acting pretty tired today so we decided to go back to the hotel for a bit so they could have a bath and a rest and we would see how we were all feeling later on,on getting back the children started to play with a Lilo & Stitch playset and before we knew it they had both fallen asleep,i said i was fine staying with them and Colin headed off to investigate Hotel New York which he liked the look of(think i know where we will be staying next time we go) i fell asleep for a bit aswell & when i awoke Colin said he was pleased i had cause he had been quite a while and had wandered round Hotel New York, the lake and Disney Village and had made a reservation for us at the Blue Lagoon for the next day at 5pm,i was really looking forward to it but having mentioned food i realised i was hungry so we all got ourselves sorted out and headed to Disney Village planning to see how busy Planet Hollywood was but not knowing if we would get a table or not!
Again we got shown to a table straight away(no pics from inside i'm afraid  :( )we were as interested in taking in the surroundings as looking at the menu Colin went for a seafood pasta,i had salmon and the children had a croque monseuir(i have prob spealt that wrong) meal was all nice food and the children had colouring sheet, crayons and a kinder chocolate aswell as thier main & pudding i wouldn't let them have the chocolate straight away as they had just had pancakes with nutella and said they could have it later/tomorrow.It is great to be able to now say we have eaten as a family at Planet Hollywood but this is another one i wouldn't be eager to return to as it was the most expensive meal of the trip, the food was good but nothing outstanding,we headed back to the hotel all weary but having had an enjoyable day & looking forward to the next day/our last full day in the park!
I love this picture,Colin took it on our way back to the hotel and brings back so many super memories!

Lovely report-interesting to hear what you thought of Planet Hollywood-not a restaurant top of my list to visit.
Cant believe Rhianna went on TOT, I'm too scared to go on! You do know you're making a rod for your own back there-she'll be wanting the faster spinning coasters in no time!
And i love that last photo, stunning.

Hiya Tubbsy glad your enjoying the report  :) i kind of knew Rhianna would love the faster rides as we went to Alton Towers last year she wasn't even 3 then and was upset cause she wanted to do the bigger rides but wasn't allowed at least Colin can take her on,it may become more of a problem if/when Drew likes them too can see me having to do stuff i really don't want to lol

As for Planet Hollywood the food & the service was good,i think it was the fact it was the most expensive meal of the trip & the atmosphere/experience wasn't as good as others we had and obviously there are many more places to eat we didn't get to try this time round that will be top of our list next time, but that being said it was one myself & Colin both wanted to try on our first visit

I agree, I really enjoy reading trip reports, I first went to disneyland on the 5th anniversary when I was only just 1 years old and I'm really annoyed that I can't remember anything. I know it was special though. I'm going to disneyland for the 6th time in 4 weeks for my birthday. I can't wait!  :D/ I just pray that the weather's going to be good because all of the recent trip reports I have read have said that it's been raining  [-o<
