Title: Pin trading Information/Ebay seller feedback
Post by: Stitch2814 on November 30, 2009, 08:55:39 PM
This is a thread for all members who collect pins and who buys off ebay and will also be able to be used to let new pin traders know the do's and dont's of pin trading (Im no expert so feel free to add your own info if I miss something out)

List of trusted Ebay sellers:

Thewill
Dizneepins x2
Katken2
amiga_girl
beekerlg
bizzybee1 x2
cgary1119
disneyaddicts
dknoxinbox
gyantzpod
mad4disneytoo
sleepy's emporium
julianp7703

List of BAD Ebay sellers:

DirectsuppliesUK
Dzneypins
PinbadgesUK
Funmamas (sorry but its going here)

List of questionable Ebay sellers

Kenerbean

I will edit the above lists as time goes on.

Now on to the important information -

SCRAPPERS

An unauthorized Disney pin. These pins are literally scrap pins. Sometimes they are seconds from the factory runs, or sometimes they have errors in color, design, or the imprint on the back. Scrappers can also be the result of extra unauthorized production runs. These pins often make it onto the secondary market where they are sold, often in lots, at much lower than market price. Scrapper pins can then be traded with cast members, as cast members do not decline a trade based on suspected scrapper status. Recent Hidden Mickey pins, DLR pins especially, have flooded the market months before their initial introductions.
*copied from wikipedia*

Now that mind sound confusing to new people and I will say this (as Ive been there myself) you can never know if you have a scrapper pin unless it is really obvious like different colours, weight or spelling mistake etc etc.

I hope that makes it clear for the new members here at least.

So happy pin trading :)

The Good -

Thewill -  The seller sent to alternate address and ships to the UK from america for not that much and pins were mint on card so very pleased with this seller. Shipping was quite fast as well :)

Kenerbean - Got a few pins on there and thought they were scrappers but from pinpics I came to the conclusion they were not. :)

Dizkneepins X2 -  Got the Russell pin new on card and shipping was fast from the US. Ive dealt with twice and very pleased with this seller.

Katken2 - Pin new on card and fast shipping from the US.

The Bad -

DirectsuppliesUK - They sell scrapper pins so dont buy from them even though I couldnt tell they were scrappers.

julianp7703 has been a really good seller I used - he combined a lot of postage and held onto things while I finished watching his listings

bad - pinbadgesuk - he sold me a Tinkerbell pin with the stone missing and when i questioned it he offered to change it (as he has 5 in a bag the same!) but I have asked twice for a return address and heard nothing also no offer of refunding my postage when I send it back

Hey Danny

Kenerbean - I actually recieved definately scapper pins from him. He seemed genuine when I questioned him, saying that he find so many pins in wdw are scrappers cus of bad traders trading with cast members etc but I would have him under an unsure list more than good to be honest.

Thanks danny for setting this thread up, it could really help me. Im wanting to know what traders to trust when buying lots. I was looking at funmamas, but I dont know what they are like. I also want to know where to get lanyards on their own. Anyway I have a good seller-bizzybee1 , she has free postage on most of the single pins and she also sells lanyard and booster sets.

I have a bad seller for you dzneypins, they are listed as a green good seller on disboards but then further on someone says the pins they received were scrappers but for some reason they remain on the green list. Anyway i was undecided whether to buy pins from them because of this so questioned him about scrapper pins and if i would receive a refund should i find any, this is the reply:
hello, in an order of 100 pins you would more than likely receive a few scrappers-as this is a grab bag i do not certify each pin-i try when trading to not get scrappers but sometimes my neices, daughter and son help-so since there are as many scrappers as there are good pins on the employees of disney the math says it all-on the flip side is there will be many good pins also-either way they are used for trading and sometimes you get some keepers if you were to get some scrappers i would say that is the luck of the draw-if other sellers are saying different they aren't being honest what would i do about it? nothing - it would not be cost effective to have you send them back from another country-they are all tradeable-trade the ones you dont want or like and keep the others

I dont like the sound of that seller so he will go on the BAD list here so no one can go and buy from this seller again.

Have you got any word on when you will recieve the pin bag yet Ro?? I dont think the post has come yet so I dunno if they will show up today but Im hoping so :P My seller is Trublue2006 and is on the green as well on the same board but I will wait and see what I get before I pass judgement as I know a bag of 100 would have a few scrappers in that I can agree cant be helped if getting them by the way of trading but if I get some I will send him a message saying how many and see what he will do about it.

And if some are scrappers and cant really tell, I will trade them back onto a lanyard (I know I shouldnt do) but if they are not recognisable and are good looking pins then I see no harm in that as lindsay says the manchester lanyard has not been updated so I would update it with a few of my pins anyway.

also List updated :)

Hi Danny,
Mine is the same seller but not as many pins. I think it was DorsetCandy who said she got 1 scrapper out of 30 from this seller and was refunded so fingers crossed. As you say there will probably be a couple, i just hope thats all there is. Also some are so hard to tell it would be diificult to know if you were trading the real deal or not. I am really hopeful they will arive Friday at the latest as that is our 5th wedding anniversary and we have the day off and i was really looking forward to going through all the pins and reorganising my board.

So you got you trader bag off trublue2006 or the one you mentioned?? as if its the same seller as me then maybe ours got posted the same day, as ebay got updated with the shipping logo and he/she left me feedback on Saturday so Im really hoping they come by friday, as I want to be able to sort them out on the ferry journey home on sunday lol

Yes it was trublu, i am as impatient as you and have to say i was annoyed how long it took to post them if indeed it was Saturday they were posted. I did email but all i got was a reply saying they were not trackable but had defiantely been posted and would arrive soon. I understand if people are selling a few things and work they might not send them out straight away but they have pages and pages of items which end every day, it's more like a shop than an individual so iwould have expected better service.

Agreed! I won mine in the week I was still in the UK the 19th November (end day) paid for on the saturday (21st) shipped (or updated on ebay anyway) the 28th November which is kinda por service in regards to sending out an item, and at least you got a reply I mean I didnt get one when I asked have they been shipped yet so I dunno, Im hoping for friday at best as other things won the same time got posted the 25th and got here last week (or within a few days) and thats by the same USPS first class international so all I (or we) can do is hope :(

when did you win yours?? and when did the seller update your ebay to say its been shipped?
Title: Re: Pin trading Information/Ebay seller feedback

I won mine at about 4am UK time Saturday 21st and paid when i woke up that morning. I had a dispatched notice and feedback left on Saturday 28th. I had hoped and guessed that the seller had sent them out but was just lazy at ticking the boxes. Then when you said about it this Saturady i checked and all of a sudden it said dispatched. I think ours must have been sent the same day so hopefully we will receive them the same time and soon! Now i am also thinking what charges will i get from customs and where do i pay them? Will i get a royal mail card through the letter box do you think with a fee on? I'm hoping they will get through without a charge, i bought a pack of 30 with a free autograph book before (not the same seller) and did not pay any fees fingers crossed.

Hmmm that is a bit strange so me and you seem to of got the short straw when it comes to waiting for this seller to send out his items as we both waiting on him now. I dunno if you would get custom charges it depends how much it cost/weight I think. I think Im gonna be lucky and not get a custom charge as all my other items from america that have turned up as well as action figures from america dont get a charge coming into Ireland, I dont know why but it doesnt so Im hoping that doesnt change with my pins LOL.

At least when one of us gets our pins we know the other persons pins are due XD

I just hope it could be be today hahaha Im awake now to wait for the postman as Im gonna be the only one in today so fingers crossed some of the pins will come Im waiting for as I dont want them to turn up when Ive gone home as it will be more postage then to get them sent to me.

Also list updated I think, I will put them into alphabetical order as well so it will be more easier to track a seller you might want to buy from.

Also I have send a PM to anthony to see if he will move the this thread to the top of the forum so new/existing members know where it is and also that way it wnt get bogged down from the other threads and can always be found.

Nope no sign of them yet but Im unsure if they will arrive through the postman or delivery van but the postman has come today already and only got the UP LE1500 dvd release pin other than that then no sign.

Good news is though that this UP pin was sent the 28th November First class international so Im really hoping for it to come tomorrow now as its quite weird all the other stuff that has been ordered after it has come before them and Im quite an impatient man if Im honest and if its not here tomorrow then I will probably flip out lol

So this means that your seller is a good 1? I dont know how to search eBay via 1 seller. Can someone please tell me how! Also danny what is the exact name to put in the search of your seller?
Title: Re: Pin trading Information/Ebay seller feedback

the seller I used was trublue2006, just a bit slow on the postage thats all but I got them none the less and they do look quite good imo.

If you click on advanced search near the top of the page and then click on by seller and type in the sellers name you should be able to search for that seller. Or for the seller I used here is a link to one of his auctions and all you got to do is click on his see other items link :)

I will edit with a link later as Im off out.

I can highly recommend sellers olivejuiceyou21,beekerlg and gyantzpod gr8 pins from all these sellers at good prices! :D

I was upset the way I was told about scrappers not in a nice way at that, I was just saying the one store I would do it at is the one store that doesnt get no traders in and Ive had a scrapper of it before now or at least a possible one anyway.

I wouldnt be traded the obvious scrappers on lanyards just the ones that could be potential scrappers if you get what Im saying.

I know I shouldnt but its not like you can tell they are scrappers (the few I got anyway) people can hate me for it but I wont be the only one doing it lol

well they came via the postman so theres one bit of news for you lol they sent them in a jiiffy bag and depending on how many you bought then they would wrap 10 pins in tissue and have 50 per reseable food bag (no expense lost on this I tell you LOL) but I would imagine it could fit through the letter box, only just though.

I hope you get yours soon though :( I thought we would get them the same day since they got sent the same time.

Still no pins, hope they arrive today. Emailed seller this morning at 8.30am, at 10am got a reply to say it was usual to take 1-2 weeks for pins to be delivered and he would check today when he got to the office if they were held up in customs. Not sure how he can do this as before he told me he had not sent them tracked as it was too expensive. I think they were sent out Saturday 28th November, please someone tell me they have had to wait this long for things from america. Really hoping its just customs and they sort it out soon. Ro

Hi All,
latest news is that it looks like my pins have got lost in the post. The good news is that the seller is resending my pins out in the next 48hours so fingers crossed i get them before Christmas but i wouldn't be surprised if i don't.

Danny i am expecting to get quite a few pins the same as you if Florida is anything like Paris the majority of lanyards have the same kinds of pins on so it would be strange if at least some of them were not the same.

:? I'm always a tad skeptical when sellers offer to just send out replacements. It makes me think that they never posted the original lot in the first place. If they did, surely they would first rather try and track down the item before resorting to sending out a replacement? Either way, I hope you get the pins soon!
Title: Re: Pin trading Information/Ebay seller feedback
Post by: Stitch2814 on December 11, 2009, 02:53:43 PM
well I might have a seller to add to the no go list, even though all the pins he/she sells are official just that I would add them to the list purely on the fact that I have not recieved my pin (only 1 pin) and its been nearly 3 weeks..and it shouldnt take this long to recieve 1 pin from america.

So if I dont get a refund or a new pin in exchange then I will be contacting ebay about it.

HPYWOLF is the name of this seller, but I wont be adding him to the list yet as I dont know how he/she will respond to my email.

I was beginning to give up on my pins, last email i had was 10th saying they would send replacements out in 24-48 hours, i asked on saturday and again on Sunday if pins had been sent but no reply, yesterday i sent a bit of a stroppy message and today received a reply saying they had been sent last week so fingers crossed for receiving them but i'm guessing it will be next week at the earliest.

the 2010 pins are known scrappers, as well as the Lollipop pins and the tea cup pins but other than that I dont know what new pins have been scrapped.

Hahaha your mum is evil taunting you with them, but least you only have to wait a day really as you will propbably be awake at 6am lol

@Sean really check your pins hun as i sent back pins from her we got 40 to trade,20 were def scrappers 3even had Disney spelt Disne others had dodgy eyes wrong le numbers on back u may of got lucky or i was very unlucky but i returned ALL my pins and got a refund,as when i asked her to post pics and i'd accept replacements was told it would be too awkward/time consuming would be easier all round to just refund me!!! :o

[strike:hfvjvvdl]Hey guys, bad news! Most of my pins in my traders were scrappers, so my mum took serious action! Funmamas has had a very very angry e mail, and she is going to disney about it. She is going to make sure they get shut down. She hates fake stuff, especially disney stuff, and to find this out, she was livid! So a message to all scrapper sellers, dont sell to my mum or otherwise, you might be shut down.[/strike:hfvjvvdl]

ignore everything in here and go to the thread below!!

Hey sean, very sorry to hear that but dont send them back to the seller just get a refund on them and keep the pins, as there is no harm in keeping the ones you like for your own collection.

All I can say is still take a picture and if there any ones there I like I will trade with you as I would be trading for ones I will be keeping anyway :)

Hey, i have done my pin board and there is not actually that many!!!  I'll put the pics on the pin collection thread, so you can judge how many are scrappers.

Hi,
I will be very interested to see the funmamas pins as i had been led to believe they mainly deal with scrappers. If they turn out to be good then they would be a really good seller as they allow you to choose specific characters and if they hjave them they will include them in your order.

What I am about to say I mean no harm to you sean just why I wont deal with funmamas -

I know I wont be buying from Funmamas as all I have seen and read is that they deal in scrappers and seeing what Sean got just makes me wonder as he got the 2010, teacups, the Lollipop pins which have all bee scrapped.

Now if they were only a few then it wouldnt of really made a difference but to get the full set of Teacups, quite a few 2010 and same for the lollipop pins I am just to unsure about the seller as for me getting all of one set in a random bag of traders is a bit questionable.

As with my traders I got a few lollipop and teacup pins and the lollipop pins where indeed scrappers no doubt about that as I could see lines in the paint and they looked terrible, and my snow white had the worst case of Red eye lol she looked possessed hahaha.

Just my honest opinion and Im sorry if it offends anyone on the baord but its what I think and I apologize in advance for what I have said but Im going off what I have read and now see with what sean got and just point to one thing, that the seller deals in scrappers.

If anyone disagrees and wants to share there opinion on what I have said then send me a message rather than on open forum please.

well to update the list with a few sellers who ve had no hassle with -

sdeborah - ship only to the US but I asked if the seller would ship to my friend and they did and was very understanding :)

Joecraw - again another seller to only ship to the US and got this sent to my friend also hehe but no faults or hassle.

Dizkneepins - now this one I recommed to everyone, perfect seller to get DS.com pins from for only slightly a little more than the website as well as no high postage cost either. Ive dealt with this seller many times and 100% service for me with no problems, even told my friends about the seller and they said the same.

Do you still buy from this seller? Do they mind random people contacting them?
