Title: A Maleficent Halloween 2014
Post by: DisneyManiac on August 20, 2014, 12:48:55 PM
HALLOWEEN SYNOPSIS

This autumn the only trick is to treat your little pumpkins to something wickedly wonderful. For just one month, a Maleficent spooky spell is cast over Disneyland® Park, bringing with it eerie sights, sounds and a bevy of chuckling Disney Villains.

Sounds interesting, opinions?

According to the official press release this year's Halloween festival will feature the following:

Maleficent Disney Villains Promenade: Maleficent will be leading the Disney villains on Central Plaza, where guests can enjoy a scary meet'n'greet and take pictures with their favorite villain.

Maleficent's Court: Sleeping Beauty Castle is cursed. Maleficent is growing thorns around the castle, which take the shape of an impressive dragon – at night they bath the guests and the castle in sharp light.

Mickey's Halloween Celebration: Several times a day an autumnal cavalcade is making its way through the park: Minnie, Mickey, Chip and Dale, Clarice, Donald, Huey, Dewey and Louie and many more will show themselves in their most beautiful outfits.

Ghosts are taking over the park: Guests can haunt them down, take pictures and unmask them, thus make them disappear forever.

Meet the Disney Stars: Minnie is waiting at her Halloween Costume Corner in her best Halloween couture. Goofy is waiting for you at Town Square with his self-build candy machine. Hang with Jack and Sally in a graveyard near Phantom Manor.

Disney's Halloween Party: October 31st is the highlight of Disneyland Paris' Halloween season. Tickets are available for 41€ and the party begins at 5pm – enjoy the night in a mysterious atmosphere with surprising animations, scary treats and a "hellishly" atmosphere. Ghosts, villains and other Disney characters will be wandering across the park, always searching for the next guest they can scare.

If you're talking about the pumpkinmen decorations, yes they are returning.

usually you start to see the first signs of Halloween in late September, I remember that every day during my last visit (which was in late September 2012) you could see more and more pumpkin decoration going up, ghosts popping up on Mainstreet, Jack and Sally doing Meet & Greets at the Manor (which was unfortunately closed for a refurb of the gardens at the time), etc. :) Was a lot of fun, can't wait to see the photos of what they're doing with the Malificent Theme this year, as I won't be there to see it first hand (I'll be going early September, so I doubt the decorations will be up that early). :D

Yay! But before I get too excited, will they be straw like scarecrows?

If you can understand french there's a very detailed article on dlrpexpress.fr (http://www.dlrpexpress.fr/article-MalfiquevedettedelasaisonHalloween?PHPSESSID=q9qkvrpruhgjmgomu8ata4bl20) about this year's Halloween celebration.

I wasn't there last year, but I was there during 2012 and the Pumpkinmen were in Frontierland with a Harvest/Autumn theme and they were kind of resembled scarecrows. I am talking the Pumpkin that took over Main Street USA in 2007 or 2006 and one wore a Casey's Corner outfit.

Eeeeeek! Can someone translate the French article pretty please...?

As we exclusively announced a few months ago, after the development of the Harvest and Not-So-Scary themes a new Halloween chapter begins this year! For this 2014 edition of Disney's Halloween Festival (which runs from October 1 to November 2, 2014), it is the Disney Villains, and more especially "Maleficent", who will be honored at Disneyland Paris through various activities.

First of all, there will be some changes for the Meet the Disney Villains: this year it will take place once more in the Courtyard of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, but which will be transformed into the "Courtyard of Maleficent". And for a good reason: a setting of thorns and rocks takes possession of the area around Excalibur. Maleficent, Jafar, Captain Hook, Dr. Facilier, Cruella, Gaston, the Witch from Snow White or the Queen of Hearts will meet visitors daily. Musicians will accompany them to create a musical atmosphere with the tunes of songs from Disney Villains.

Also new for this year, "Maleficent Disney Villains Promenade". The Disney Villains will be waiting for park visitors at Central Plaza for a parade accompanied by musicians .

Mickey's Halloween Celebration will be decorated with a brand new float. This new float (called "The Farm celebrates Clarabelle! ") will feature five Disney characters: the 3 Little Pigs, Clarabelle and Horace, who will make his debut at Disneyland Paris. Dancers accompany the float in costumes inspired by the elements of the forest: mushrooms, trees...

Like last year,  Jack and Sally return next to Phantom Manor to meet visitors. Goofy with his candy machine and  Duffy in his Halloween outfit will meet visitors daily and Minnie (and Stitch) will return to her Halloween Atelier.

As far as decorations are concerned, they will remain  the same as last year with the return of the Ghost residents of Main Street USA, the pumpkins on the rooftops, the Mickey pumpkins in the gardens of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. The same applies for Frontierland which will continue its vegetal atmosphere with the Pumpkin Men. On Central Plaza, giant pumpkins representing Disney characters will return surrounded by real pumpkins. Overall it will all be the same with the addition of new photolocations with the ghosts of Main Street USA or some minor modifications in lighting.

The famous villain of  the Sleeping Beauty will feature a whole new look this year for Halloween!  Maleficent is not the only Disney Villain to change their appearance. Gaston (Beauty and the Beast) will also be wearing a brand new costume for this year's Halloween Festival.

 Hey,

What does this mean "at night they bath the guests and the castle in sharp light" @msRavenswood press release above....

will Disney Dreams be replaced/ modified with a different kind of show, or maybe just a static light setup over the castle.... or maybe just a small display like when they lit up the castle with candles for the 15th Anniversary?

sounds exciting that they're making changes and keeping things different..
Jim.

For a start Disney Dreams! will NOT receive a Halloween change, it will stay the same. There isn't any mention of it being replaced.

Also I do not see the sentence you are mentioning, can you point it out?

It's from the official press release I posted first. From the description I imagine that they will illuminate the thorns from inside (?) so that they create spooky shadows...

In 2012 DLP was transforming into Halloween form during my trip late September, so early October should be full Halloween mode. :D
