Selfie sticks

I have to say we managed perfectly fine without a selfie stick on our last holiday - my new camera does have a flip up screen to use which did help for self timer as we went into the park to get photos at 8am when it was empty.

The trick I used is I asked another family if they wanted me to take their photo and then they always offered in return. My friend found it hilarious that I was essentially using them for my own benefit but hey, it definitely worked.

Another tip for Castle photos was to wait until near parade time (not too near) and while the CMs are waiting around ask them to take one. We got chatting away to an English CM and were showing him our shopping so it worked perfectly for us to ask for a cheeky photo while it was quieter!

I asked someone to take a picture of me and a character, the whole bunch standing around me looked at me like if I were an alien.
A selfie stick would have actually been easy at that moment, lol.

Last weekend still say enough of them, but not during parades and in rides, so that's good though.

I must say characters seemed to enjoy it when we took selfies and pose with them! Probably because children didn't understand what to do and so they could have a bit more fun. A selfie stick would have been useful to slap people pushing in around the head though  >:(

Zzzz all old gits you lot are :-)

Personally i'd prefer it if they put the same energy into actually stopping people smoking in the park.

I know, I bloody love selfie sticks but rules are rules. Smoking however makes me very very angry. Kill yourself but not my poor asthmatic lungs please!!

Completely agree. Even saw a man smoking in the inside queues!

Totally agree with the smoking!

The smoking thing is terrible it was bad when we were there halloween 2014 ...

We are going in July 2016 and my mother who is a smoker is coming with us ... She wouldn't dream of smoking in line or anywhere other than the correct areas .....

Family members used to smoke & even they said they would never smoke in queues. What I really hate is like what was said in a previous post when smokers keep their cigarettes away from them but in faces of other people. I'm physically sick with cigarette smoke plus I have asthma ( reason why my family members stopped) so I find it unbearable at times.

Why does every discussion about selfie sticks end up being about the smoking in the parks???  ::)

They are fine when walking around. Technically they are not permitted to be worn on rides in case they fall off and cause injury or damage to you or other guests, but cast members will often turn a blind eye if they are properly secured.

Because if they are enforcing one rule surely they should enforce them all? / Selfie sticks aren't a huge deal in comparison.

Never had an issue with go pros on rides - but ours was secured with a chest strap on Indiana and other upside down rides. Plus I've seen vlogs where people are using their phones to record on BTM so it shouldn't be a problem.
