Thanks! It'll be good to hear whether it's actually enforced or not!

I suppose that it's positive that the media are picking up on it, that way people visiting are more likely to be informed of the ban.

Havng made the news, I suppose that DLP will be more "forced" to actually enforce the ban also. And hopefully they'll do the same with the smoking ban soon.

Josh of EasyWDW (@easywdw) tweeted today that Disney staff was handing out leaflets to visitors to inform them of the selfie-stick ban. I imagine they'll be doing the same at DLP per July 1st?

Is it just selfie sticks? I use a monopod for my video camera when I'm filming Dreams, no way I can hold it steady for 15 minutes on a low light setting.

I assume camera stands are exempt. :) It's mainly selfie-sticks that are the issue, and I assume you're not planning to use your monopod on the rollercoaster rides. :P

It't not just selfie sticks.
It's any hand held camera/phone extension pole.
And they've put up signs around the entire resort that it's now prohibited.
Anyone who brought something like that with them, can leave them at Guest Storage.
If you still manage to take them with you into the park, you will be escorted to the exit to still drop them off at Guest Storage.

A selfie stick is a monopod by the way ;)

Signs are up at the walk up from the parking, at the bagage check, at all the hotels and at Disney Village.

Couldn't hurt to put them up in the parks too.
But frankly the fact that people, even just the 1, have been seen using them in the park doesn't bode well for the ban getting enforced :(

Don't jump to conclusions that quickly.
Just because someone saw 1 person with a selfie stick, doesn't mean they don't enforce it.
You don't know if that person wasn't send to Guest Storage maybe 10 minutes later to leave his/her selfie stick there.
And you have to give it more than one day. It takes time for a new rule to completely blend in at such a big resort.

I'm in California atm, and I was in Disneyland on July 1

1. When we drove in to the parking structure we were handed the above leaflet with our parking ticket.
2. As we got on the escalator down to the shuttle bus to the park there were no selfie sticks signs
3. As we walked to the shuttle bus there were no selfie stick signs
4. On the shuttle bus to Downtown Disney, as part of the usual Disney announcements we we were told no selfie sticks or go pro devices
5. As we walked through Downtown Disney to the park entrance there were no selfie sticks signs
6. At the bag check area, they were checking all bags for selfie sticks. They were collecting and ticketing all selfie sticks and go pro devices which people could collect when they were leaving at guest relations.

Disney in America is serious about  no selfie sticks in the parks, not just on the rides. CMs have been told if they see people using them, ie people have sneaked them past the bag check,  they have to ask guests to stop.

It should be easier in DLP as they have bag scanners but as we all know, CMs are lax about upholding rules!

That's the problem though isn't it, if your using it whilst walking you're not paying attention to where you're going. I've previously seen people walk into things/people and in front of cars

I hate those selfie sticks with a passion. >:(

I am aware that Walt Disney World have banned them, not sure about DLP or the other Disney resorts.

HildeKitten

Don't get me started on them, today I saw several people make a total nuisance out of themselves with one, and only 1 person use hers responsibly.

They are completely banned in ALL Disney parks if I'm not mistaken, in any case they are in DLP.
And contrary to the smoking ban, apparently this ban is actually getting enforced!
