Hi everyone. Our 1st trip is in march and I was wondering if anyone had noticed a different in security since the recent paris attacks. Is security usually good anyway?  Travelling air france and staying at sequoia lodge but getting a bit nervous. Weve only been abroad a hand full of times and dont really like flying. We'd stay in uk if it was up to us but for our little 4yr olds sake  we're going further afield! any safety tips?

I don't think there are more security mesures... that we can see. I'm sure they are being extra careful since the attacks in Paris, but there are no armed guards throught the park.
They check everybody's bags when they enter the area (Disney Village and both parks) and there are soldiers in the train station. Also, if somebody leaves a bag in the park, they will be checking it inmediately. I'm living in Paris, so I was here during the attacks, and honestly, I felt I was safer at Disney.

I went to DLP just a month after the terrorist attack in Madrid, in 2004. There was a pretty low attendance and we were at Walt Disney Studios, so the place was almost empty. My mom brought a pushchair for my younger brother, and the chair had a backpack with our food. While I was riding an attraction by myself, my mom and brother saw the parade and left the pushchair in front of the attraction to go see it. When I came out, a man was checking the bag and talking through a walkie-talkie, to make sure it wasn't a bomb. He saw the sandwiches and you could see the relief in his face :P

Lucy, after the attacks in January there were a couple of threads on the security theme - https://forum.dlpguide.com/index.php?topic=18251.0;topicseen is one. I stand by my opinion that DLP is low risk, but you should take the normal care whilst travelling and be mindful of theft/pick pocketing at DLP itself

Hi all! We will be visiting the parks in March and have decided to not check in at the hotel and leave our luggage at the Guest Storage office at the main entrance to save time. This means we will have to pass through security with our luggage, correct? Will we have to open our suitcases? Is it a full on airport security type inspection? If it's too much of a hassle we might opt for the train station storage lockers. Thanks!

With a case you go to the xray scanner at the side of security, they will scan it just like the airport without opening it. The only way this may cause you issues is if you have anything packed that they don't allow on park, notably any glass containers (including perfumes).

we were there last week and they were very thorough with bag checks etc as you go in.I always put my bag through the scanner as its easy. I saw some people's bags being checked with a torch and opening all the little pockets etc. There was also more police than you ever see in the UK, all over the station etc so its very safe there.

Recent visitors are reporting seeing an increase in the number of Police in the Disney Village and at the train station and French Army soldiers have been seen patrolling the Disney Village and the areas around the hotels.

It's  been mentioned on FB  that plain clothes security has increased and a few people have reported seeing quite a few plain clothes Police inside both parks arresting shoplifters and pick pockets.

I always see at least 1 person in cognito in the park, there are camera's all around the castle, and other places, army walks around outside the parks.

Obviously with the attacks, it's more increased now, but as been mentioned, when you carry a huge bag/travel suitcase, you are not allowed the go in line for the regular bag-check, but you must use the xray line.

Thanks for the replies. Good to know that large luggage is checked in a separate line, so you're not holding up the regular queue. I'll pack my undies towrads the bottom in case they want to open it   :P :-[ I just feel better leaving the luggage at the park's guest storage rather than at the train station, it seems much more conveniant, so security check it is!

I too feel that the parks are very safe. Besides the obvious security checks and patrols I'm sure there are so much more security parameters that we as guests are completely oblivious to.

Hi all

Thought this might interest some of you. Back in 2007 while I took my kids on dumbo during the EMH my mum waited on a bench for us and saw security men placing cameras disguised as small bushes in various locations nearby. I assume this is still done, maybe if they have an idea increased security is needed they view less obvious locations.  The Glasgow terror attack happened the day after we got home, so maybe they had an idea things were planned for Europe at that time.

Id be interested to know if this is done everyday or if it was a coincidence?

2 weeks ago we saw security twice within the park -the first time there was some random queue jumpers for Casey - they pushed past everyone right to the front, the queue all yelled etc, the ride attendants spoke to them, they let the train go round once with no one on it to hold everyone there, by the time it was back security had arrived and led them away. The next time we didn't see what happened but was on Phantom and the ride briefly stopped, then as we came to the end security were there with 2 people.
So they must be all over the place but very discreet.

It's the first thing I heard about this, but that doesn't mean that it's not still happening.
I know they have a really tight video security system for the stores, which makes total sense in when it comes to stopping people from shoplifting of course.
But in the rest of the park, I don't know, that seems a bit excessive to me personally.

Although that said, and I hate to say it, the regular "shine a torch in a bag" check is not very thorough at all 99% of the time. Mind you, nothing has happened (that we heard of) in the parks, so clearly it's sufficient.

I've read quite a few books on the security situation in Florida and it would seem sensible to assume that the level would be the same in Paris.
There is a famous story of someone kidnapping a child and taking the child to a rest room and dyeing the hair. The perpetrators were watched all the way on CCTV and were apreehended at the park exit gates. Disney, certainly in America, are seen as a major target for extortionists and criminals. Very little crime seems to get past them so they obviously have a model that works and I have no reason to believe security would be any less stringent in Paris.
We know as much as we need to about security and it does seem to work!
