Ohhhhh ok, sounds good. Have you ever done it before?! Do you have to tell Disney you plan on doing this when you book?! What are the taxes exactly do you know!? Are they more expensive depending on which hotel you stay in like if you stayed in the santa fe would it have less taxes then the Disneyland Hotel or is it a set rate of tax.

Also sounds a bit cheeky and I couldn't do it because it would worry me but there must be people that try it. If you have already paid for the adult and child they don't check how many there are of you at breakfast so what is there to stop people from just using their AP to go into the parks and not declaring themselves etc. Or is it just because it is so cheap everyone just declares anyway. Just a random thought really.

I would think if that is something possible to do with paying the taxes then I would think that it makes more sense to do that then buy them both separate passports but I don't know I need to do some more looking around and researching. I am terrible at trying to scrimp and save but hey the more money for spending in the shops the better!!

I dont know if this is the norm or just the CM we got. It seems that you need the same address, same surname and to be 2 adults and 3 kids to get the 20% family discount. The fact that my Wife Italian passport has her maiden name but we brought our marriage certigicate didnt help. Ah well.

Don't worry, Elaine is completely correct with this. This IS a standard procedure and not some trick. If you are still unsure just call the hotel or Central Reservation and ask if it is ok, they will confirm it.

yes, I've done this before lubynoo. You don't have to inform Disney before you check in - but you can if you wish, contact the hotel and let them know there will be 2 adults and one child checking in. It makes no difference to them, the room is already paid for in the package you've booked, and the room can take 4 guests. The taxes are around 2 euros per night, it doesn't matter which hotel you are staying at, the local tax is the same (its the same for the offsite hotels too). Everyone declares because there is no disadvantage to them.

Honestly, this method works, is perfectly acceptable, and there is no issue with it at all when you check in at your Disney hotel.

Hi guys

I'm going in november and hoping to go 3 times next year (poss april, june and early november), this may seem like a silly question but does the annual passport run for exactly a year from when you buy it? So if I bought it say on my last day (25th November) would it run to November 2012? I think it would (common sense would say so), just wanted to make sure it wasn't jan - dec and the pro-rata'd depending on when in the year you buy it???

I know I wouldn't benefit from buying it when i arrive as i already have 9 day park tickets included in my hotel costs.
Thinking about it I might be better waiting until i go and buying it at the start of my trip then maybe so I don't lose out on days.

Also, what's availability and pricing like on room only disney hotels? Is there much of a difference and am I right in thinking you can only book room only 3 months in advance? I seem to recall when I booked my holiday this year i asked about room only (with intentions of buying us all AP's) but was told they only release room only availability 3 months in advance.

Thanks for your help

if you have full park tickets included in your November trip, there isn't any point in buying your AP until the first day of your proposed trip in April 2012 - it will then expire in April 2013.

Also, what's availability and pricing like on room only disney hotels? Is there much of a difference and am I right in thinking you can only book room only 3 months in advance? I seem to recall when I booked my holiday this year i asked about room only (with intentions of buying us all AP's) but was told they only release room only availability 3 months in advance.

usually an onsite hotel package (including park tickets) is cheaper than booking room only with an AP - because packages are discounted, with an AP room only booking your are only getting an AP discount off the full rack rate (which is very expensive). Its always worth calling to ask for the room only rate, but I haven't found it cheaper with an AP over a package since 2007.

Thanks for your help

Thanks Elaine

So when does the 35% off hotel prices (with a dream pass) become a benefit? Just trying to work out how the AP would benefit me as I want to go a few times next year

an AP gives you the most benefits if you use it as a park ticket, for your discounts on food (10% on all your party's counter and table/buffet service meals at DLP), 20% discount on your souvenir shopping if you have a Dream AP, and if you are flexible enough to stay offsite (where you can go room only with other agents apart from Disney and pay, for example, less than £60 per night per room for a 4-star associated hotel - or less than £40 for Premier Classe etc).

In my experience, because the full price of room only onsite with Disney is set so high, even the maximum 35% AP room only discount will usually still be more expensive than a discounted Disney package. Sometimes, Expedia sell onsite room only (usually for winter dates) so an AP is great for your park ticket then, combined with Expedia room only rates (less than AP rate through Disney strangely).

i didn't make the experience. as dream ap holder you have often special offers for hotel rooms up to 40 or 50%. so it's possible to book a room at a disney hotel for about 100€ per night. if the disney hotel is too expensive the hotel like kyriad or explorer are reccomendable. there you get a room from 80€ per night. we save with our dream ap really a lot of money instead of booking a package.

The UK is one of the countries which does get discounted packages (it may not be the same for Germany). 100 euros per night for a 2 star hotel onsite is expensive to me - I usually have park hopper tickets included for the duration of stay for 3 nights/4 days, one adult one child, for less than 300 euros.

okey...... so we definitely have to emigrate to uk....
i have to adjust my post...
for people in germany the annual passport is more profitable than booking a package
